Astazi am aflat ca data mai sus mentionata vreau nu vreau o sa o am ocupata. De fapt recunosc ca imi doresc sa fie ocupata …. si va fi cu evenimentul de la Sala Palatului. Va prindeti voi din cele ce urmeaza!

…. etc. Mai multe veti vedea pe 5 decembrie, daca o sa fiu in stare, dupa concertul extraordinar. Sper sa nu intervina nimic, cu toate ca nu stiu cate lucruri imi pot curma planul.

Peste 20 de ani

Un prieten îmi spunea că la noi, în România, artiştii vin cu o întârziere de 20 de ani, vezi “cazul” Sandra sau Demis Roussos şi exemplele pot continua în neştire. Dar, având în vedere că suntem un popor nostalgic ce trăieşte din amintiri, totul pare ok. A, scuzaţi, a fost Beyonce în România, însă a avut parte de-o sonorizare ca la un bal al bobocilor!!!

O lecţie din Elada acum, alături de Demis Roussos, ce va concerta la Bucureşti în data de 4 decembrie, la Sala Palatului – într-un concert extraordinar de sărbători.

Cu Demis Roussos a fost la suc o vecină de-a mea, ce îşi caută fericirea prin Grecia, de ani de zile. Şi, alături de celebra sa piesă “Goodbye, My Love, Goodbye”, vă invităm să luaţi bilete la concertul artistului grec de la Sala Palatului, căci merită Sărbătorile de Iarnă un astfel de concert, nu-i aşa?

Je eigen zaken promoten is vaak een beetje lame, maar kom, je moet iets doen om te zorgen dat er mensen luisteren. Bij deze dus de tweede aflevering van Try-Out. Voor diegenen die zich afvragen hoe Demis Roussos er in levende lijve uitziet (en wie vraagt zich dat nu niet af?!), hier de verlossing:

مجموعه دوم آهنگ ها

سلام,

برای پست دوم وبلاگ 4 تا آهنگ که به نظر من بسیار زیبا هستند رو در نظر گرفته ام، جدای از اینکه آیا واقعا برای سلیقه‌ی من اعتباری قائل هستید یا نه، باید بگم که این آهنگ‌ها هر کدوم از بهترین کارهای خواننده‌هاشون هستند و شاید خیلی‌ها اولین بار میشل بولتون، عمرو دیاب، دمیس روسوس و هوشمند عقیلی رو با این آهنگها شناخته باشند.

موضوعی که سری قبل هم توضیح دادم و اینبار نیز ناگزیر به گفتنش هستم اینه که همونجور که می‌بینید هیچ تقسیم‌بندی یا مرز و محدوده‌ای در معرفی آهنگ‌ها ندارم و فقط وجه اشتراک اونها زیبا بودنشونه.

و اما آهنگ‌ها؛

آهنگ “راجعین” از عمرو دیاب که یکی از قدیمی‌ترین و بهترین آهنگ‌های این خواننده‌ی مصری است. آهنگی عاشقانه و لطیف، که من توصیه میکنم کلیپ‌اش رو هم ببینید!

و آخرین آهنگی که در این پست معرفی و برای دانلود میذارمش، سنتی عاشقانه‌ي “گلنار” است که اجراهای مختلفی داره، ولی من این آهنگ رو با صدای هوشمند عقیلی ارائه می‌دم. آهنگی بسیار نوستالژیک و احساسی، که یاد و خاطره‌ی عشق‌های قدیمی و یا عشق‌های اول رو در آدم زنده میکنه. اینهم از اون آهنگهایی ه که مغز رو خارش میده و ملودی و متن‌اش ملکه ذهن آدم میشه.

I feel very Polyphonic Spree in this. Printed navy blue kaftan, my final purchase last Saturday from the German lady (see below), £3. It’s actually quite snug-fitting and slinky, and works as a maxi-dress with a wide belt, the neck unzipped a little and a pair of knee-length boots or high heels. But will I be brave enough? What great kaftan-wearing fashion role models are there besides Mama Cass Elliott, Demis Roussos or David Crosby at his most bloated? It’s a dangerous path to go down without a trim waist.

Memória musical: Demis Roussos e... Vangelis?

É, galera, resolvi aproveitar o espaço pra resgatar as músicas e o histórico de alguns cantores e grupos de muito tempo atrás que deixaram uma marca na memória e nos corações de muitas gerações de ouvintes ao redor do mundo.

O primeiro grupo que vai abrir essa seção, se podemos chamar assim, é Aphrodite’s Child, formado por Demis Roussos no vocal, Loukas Sideras na bateria e (tcham-tcham-tcham-tcham) Vangelis nos teclados.

O grego Demis Roussos, pseudônimo de Artemios Ventouris Roussos, passou uma infância um tanto difícil no Egito e na Grécia. Nascido em 1946, aos 17 anos, formou o grupo The Idols, que teve curta duração. Ele tocava guitarra e baixo, além de fazer sucesso como vocalista nas vezes em que isso foi exigido.

Pouco depois, foi a vez de dar início à banda We Five ao lado do compositor Lakis Vlavianos, agora como vocalista principal. Em seguida, junto de mais dois outros músicos gregos, formou o grupo de rock progressivo Aphrodite’s Child.

Demis começou como vocalista, mas também atuou como guitarrista e baixista. Ele contava com Loukas Sideras na bateria e o tecladista e compositor principal Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassio – conhecido mundialmente pelo nome de Vangelis.

O Aphrodite’s surgiu em 1968 e, entre seus sucessos, destacam-se as músicas End of the World, Rain and Tears, It’s Five O’Clock, I Want to Live e Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall.

Por falta de permissão para tocar na Inglaterra, o grupo mudou-se pra Paris, na época assolada pela Revolução de Maio. O Aphrodite’s Child fez um excelente sucesso com seu disco de estreia, End of the World, mas teve vida curta, pois, em 1972, com o lançamento do álbum 666, encerrou suas atividades prematuramente, por razões não muito bem esclarecidas. A mídia francesa deu como motivo a resistência dos cristãos da Europa a comparecerem aos shows depois do lançamento de 666, o que acabou por desencadear uma série de cancelamentos de apresentações.

Então, Demis Roussos engatou uma carreira solo de muito sucesso, assim como Vangelis se tornou um prestigiado e requisitado compositor de trilhas sonoras para o cinema. Entre as produções das quais participou destacam-se Carruagens de Fogo, Blade Runner – O Caçador de Androides e 1492 – A Conquista do Paraíso.

On Friday, we commenced to look at the songs that hit Number One on the British singles charts in 1976 without making much of a dent—or any at all—in the American charts. As we continue, a word of warning: If you think the American charts of the 1970s sometimes slopped over from diversity into schizophrenia, wait until you check this stuff out.

“Combine Harvester (Brand New Key)”/The Wurzels (weeks of June 12 and 19). I was fascinated by this title when I saw it in Star File (the 1976 British chart book that inspired this series), but it’s only within the last year or two that I’ve actually heard it. It’s a parody version of the Melanie song done by a group working in the style Brits know as “scrumpy and western.” “Combine Harvester” features what Tom Ewing, writing at Popular, calls “surely the best (or maybe worst) innuendo to grace a chart-topping record” and a wheezing, rural style that must have annoyed as many people as it enchanted during its chart run.

The Roussos Phenomenon (EP)/Demis Roussos (week of July 17). Four housewifey songs by the Greek singer formerly of Aphrodite’s Child, sometime-collaborator with Vangelis, and possessor of a high, operatic voice. One song, “Forever and Ever” (not the same song by Slik mentioned last week) had gotten a bit of airplay in the States in 1973 without charting. Roussos scored a number of other hits in Europe and elsewhere, and in 1985, he was a passenger on TWA Flight 847. He was known to the hijackers as a celebrity, and his Wikipedia entry claims that was the basis for a mid-80s comeback. Believe it, or not.

“Mississippi”/Pussycat (weeks of October 16, 23, 30, and November 6). Three Dutch sisters and some other musicians, some of whom had been in a group with the Pythonesque name Scum, came together in the early 70s. How “Mississippi” failed to become a hit in the States, I dunno. It’s easy rockin’ with a singalong refrain, and it would have fit right in on the radio here that fall.

“Under the Moon of Love”/Showaddywaddy (weeks of December 4, 11, and 18). The British analogue to Sha Na Na, Showaddywaddy had a pile of hits in the UK between 1974 and 1982, including covers of songs by Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Chubby Checker, and others. “Under the Moon of Love,” the group’s biggest hit, is itself a cover of Curtis Lee’s original, which was co-written and produced by Phil Spector in 1961.

“When a Child Is Born”/Johnny Mathis (weeks of December 25, January 1, and January . “When a Child Is Born” made the American charts in 1974 in a version by German singer Michael Holm. Today, it’s considered a Christmas song, even though it makes no mention of the holiday. (I wrote about it briefly last year, in the context of the Moody Blues’ 2003 holiday album December.)

When you consider that the stuff we’ve covered in the last two posts represents mainstream taste in Britain as it was in 1976, the coming of punk rock seems a lot easier to understand.
