The site’s still there, but like every era that’s ended… what remains is a shell of its former self…

With Demonoid still down, it’s really a sad sad time for us.

I can not type anymore…

I don’t know if you guys already know it but i just came to know that mininova.org is ‘no more’ between us..

I just can’t believe it as i have been using it for past ……….. form the day i learned about torrents. Now its been reduced to mere content distribution service by ‘approved’ publishers.

Here are some facts about mininova.org (source : Wikipedia)

Statistics as of 24 November 2009:^[12]

• Total torrent downloads: 10,062,351,935

Statistics as of 26 November 2009:

As figures suggest even non-copyright was completely deleted.

Les rumeurs vont bon train sur le net au sujet de Demonoid.

Le Staff de Demonoid a donc voulu clarifier certaines choses, ce qui a été fait sur la page de demonoid.com.

Voici la traduction approximative :

“Il y a des rumeurs comme quoi le site va fermer pour de bon et de notre côté, nous avons commencer a créer un nouvel outil pour l’an prochain.

Les rumeurs sont bien sûr des mensonges. Il n’est pas prévu de fermer ou de créer un autre site.

Sur Twitter et sur Facebook, les groupes ou pages ne sont pas des pages Demonoid officielles, même chose sur  n’importe quelle autre page Web communautaire. Il y a un peu partout des pages qui ont été créés par les fans et n’ont aucun lien avec le site ou le staff de Demonoid.

Les parties du code du site qui a été supprimé sont en cours de réécriture et devrait être bientôt prêt. Nous travaillons également pour tenter de minimiser la perte de données, autant que possible.

Yes, last week I posted on the Best 10 P2P websites and had peers asking question’s on the best torrent sites to look for, the true thing is many users don’t know which torrent sites can be trusted when it comes to viruses, malware, etc. So I have compiled a list of the best torrent sites so anyone can easily find a reliable and trustworthy torrent site to use. If you have any favorite torrent sites of your own, you can share them in the comments. I have ranked by a combination of Inbound Links, Google Page Rank, Alexa Rank, users opinions, high speed downloads and traffic data, so hope it works for you…

1) The Pirate Bay

Who else it can be then the master himself, I guess it as violated all their country’s copyright laws, but who cares today, this is the most popular torrent site on the web today. It hosts more then 1.3 million torrents. It also has a nice and simple design with non-intrusive ads at the sides. The search facility works very well as well which makes finding specific files easier. There are various categories ranging from movies, applications, games, pictures, animation, etc. You can also view the top 100 torrents from each of these categories to find the best torrents available and at any given point in time, more than 30 million peers actively trade files thought the Pirate Bay tracker. They also added SSL encryption to the site like piratebay did last year, making it impossible for your ISP or the authorities to monitor users’ activities. So cheers to ISOhunt..

4) Torrentz

Torrentz.com, one of the oldest torrent sites I have seen, The site as a “verified torrents” feature an thing inspired many other meta-search engines which to do the same. As a very unique feature I have seen of being able to search among files inside the torrents themselves. It also does not show results which have 0 seeds and it as over 1,500,000 monthly visitor from US alons as of the last month, pretty good figure..

5) Torrentfly

TorrentFly is an advanced and fully customizable real-time search engine for bit-torrents. There servers scan the largest torrent websites on the internet and come up with the best results and TorrentFly is able to detect and remove fake/dead torrents. Accept the fact that TorrentFly is a legal website; so they do not host any copyrighted content, neither host or link directly to any .torrent files, as I said accept the fact this sites gonna run longer than any making it to the top 5. Don’t believe it as over 5 billion searches served so far.

6) Demonoid

Many people love Demonoid, me too, but there is some you need to hate just pulling it down the charts, it’s downtime and server problems. Do you remember 1 feature of Demonoid, mMembers are responsible for users that they invite, so if somebody invites someone who is leeching 24 hrs, then both will suffer the consequences. My point of view I love it, bcoz ensures a nice and healthy downloading experience among users. But Demonoid as serious threats of being offline following from the CRIA, so lets watch out..

7) BTjunkie

It as over 2.5 million active torrents and from 5,000-25,000 torrents added daily, so you will find no shortage of what you’re looking for here. It is also a great source to find your required files due to its huge torrent database and has a firefox plugin for quick searching right from your browser window. I remember in December 2007 BTjunkie was forced to leave their ISP following a takedown notice from the Dutch anti-piracy outfit BREIN, but later from 2008 they had no Issues and with strong users to uphold it..

Torrentportal

For BitTorrent sites that is usually a good thing. Traffic seems to be stable, although the site is not growing as fast as the other BitTorrent sites in this list. They do so TorrentPortal is like Google™ in that it only links to .torrent metafiles and takes a cache of such files. None of the data transferred by or stored on TorrentPortal servers is content linked to by .torrent files. But I see lot of excellent remarks on this site so making it to the Top 10 on my list…

9) Sumotorrent

Like many torrent sites lately, Sumo is powered by adult ads hehehe. But several readers have reported that they like the data visibility of the torrent results at Sumo. Sumotorrent is a fast growing torrent site with more then 2.5 million torrents and thousands more being added daily. My experience the pop-ups and redirects are annoying, and don’t make it one of the most convenient sites to browse though it’s rich features. So here it is @ number 9.

10) Torrentbox

Last but not the least Torrentbox, again one of the best torrent sites around today, works superb if you have a P2P like Utorrent. Nothing big news about this site in the recent past after Torrentbox being sued by the MPAA in 2006, now has good database of users and steady progress on torrent updates..

Here are some other top mentions: torrentreactor.net, onlytorrents.com, Fenopy.com, seedpeer.com, torrents.to, which may have not made it to the top 10, but are very close and best of there kind..

D’après Demonoid.com, le fameux Tracker BitTorrent, le site sera bientôt de retour.

Effectivement, un problème aurait causé la perte de données sur le dernier mois d’activité, des inscriptions de membre et des fichiers Torrent auraient donc été perdu sur ce laps de temps.

Selon Demonoid, le site n’est pas encore en mesure d’obtenir les données perdu à cause d’un problème de sauvegarde.

Celui-ci explique cependant aux visiteurs et aux membres de se tenir prêt pour la réouverture du site.

Just when I thought I was on a good roll… The new fella and I had an intense pillow fight last night, and it resulted in my left eye having a hissy fit all day. Apparently I had a huge allergic reaction to something that got into it (I assume dirt/dust/godknowswhat from the pillows of the million year old couch I own) and spent most of the afternoon at the doctor.

I’m finally home though, and in pyjamas. I just ate my cold McDonalds fries from lunch, and am basically going to kill time until he gets off work and comes over. Our plan is to trade off the stuff on our respective externals.

Speaking of crap like that, I’m getting really frantic about this prolonged downtime from Demonoid. I’m on that site like jam on toast, and I’m not even sure where to find stuff anymore. I’m getting my weekly television fix mostly from Mininova, but yikes.

I’m watching what feels like a million shows at the moment, and I have to keep track of them all in iCal. I’m just getting the new Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother right now, and then I’ll be caught up until It’s Always Sunny tonight. I won’t lie, I’m pretty excited for Dollhouse to start up again at the end of the week, and then Dexter next.

oh yea, here we go. talk about some metal. the dude who runs indigotunes.com rebuilt his site, so it is more “pretty”. he went ahead and created an artists index of of a whole lot of metal album releases.
