You can either pay $154 for these J Brand cutoff denim shorts OR make your own pair of casual cutoffs in a matter of minutes.  Everyone has a pair of jeans lying around that you’ve stopped wearing because they’re out of style, make your ankles look fat, whatever.  I think that making cutoff shorts is easier than sewing on a button!

After reading a couple tutorials, I tried my hand at a pair of old 7 for All Mankind pink A-pocket jeans.   The jeans are cropped and flare out – eww, what was I thinking?  I definitely had sale goggles when I picked up these jeans at a sample sale eons ago.  I wish I had a “before” picture to post but I forgot to take one before I started cutting away.

So here are the “after” pictures of my “new” denim cutoffs.

I am drooling over this yellow jacket just in at Maruchi!  Obviously, jackets have been a trend that reappear every fall and winter.  They give every girl that edge while still managing to make her look chic.  Tips when wearing a jacket?  I’ve got you!

• If you’re going to wear an edgy jacket, make it a little more girly by adding a floral scarf, or some colorful jewelry.
• Speaking from a personal perspective, don’t wear heavy makeup when wearing a jacket.  You want to look like a lady not someone who dumped everything dark onto her face.
• Jackets look amazing with denim cutoffs and maxi dresses.

I kept a journal to document every adventure I had, and a few of those entries were written with SBC in mind! When the words and the pictures come together, it truly paints the scene. Take a look at what Day 4 in St. Tropez held for me: shopping, cuisine, exploring and more cuisine!

When I woke up this morning in the hotel, I had a warm pain au chocolat waiting for me- courtesy of Clémence.

I’m sure going to miss these back in the states! Golden, flaky and warm- they’re my ideal breakfast pastry. Although a daily diet of chocolate can’t exactly be stellar for one’s health. But hey, this gal’s on vacation!

While Clémence ran errands in the village for a half hour, I dressed and headed downstairs to our hotel’s cafe. I sat down at a small table outside- enjoying my little-slice-of-heaven breakfast. I felt oh-so-French, watching the city of St. Tropez wake up from inside the cafe’s patio.

After I’d finished my meal, Clémence returned. We traversed the twisting side streets, winding their way around cafes, hotels, shops and art galleries (I don’t know how Clémence is able to navigate them!) until we found her mother and sister. Then, we did a little shopping.

Clémence’s family seems to shop differently than we do back home. For my family, at least, shopping is an event. We’ll plan entire days around exercising our favorite sport! Meals revolve around the shopping, and finding a fabulous sale or secret mark-down is the ultimate reward for a day of deal-seeking.

Not exactly the case here.

The deciding factor for me when entering a  new store is its window display. Here, the store is entered only if one sees an item inside that one seriously wants to take home. Pretty selective. But you have to miss out on so much that way!

Still, I managed to purchase a pair of high-wasted shorts from a boutique called Ricci Junior (yes, it’s for kids! shh!) in a dark, silky floral fabric. Perfect for hot summer days. It was such a joy to buy them and speak with the sales woman, although I felt much more confident with Valerie by my side.

Lots of housewares and soap stores later, we found ourselves down by the harbor, where we shot some pictures for the tourist (me)!

When we were done with our photoshoot at the harbor, we were off to the St. Tropez Nikki Beach for some lunch and sun time!

The sand here is like tiny rocks! The grains are larger than ours at AMI, so that when you get some of them in your shoes or clothes- you just brush them off! Amazing; not like here- where you drop something in the sand and those sugary scratchy crystals are there for decades.

It was gorgeous, but super hot. The sun was glaring off the sand, and between runs from the icy water back to the towel I worked up quite an appetite. So, I indulged in a little strawberry ice cream with Alice.

Delicious!

We returned back to the hotel for some dinner at a pizza parlor called Bruno’s. It definitely hit the spot! We were starving and didn’t sit down until 10:00pm. People eat dinner pretty late in France, I’ve learned.

When we had finished some great pizza pies, we returned back to the hotel, looking forward to another wonderful day in St. Tropez.

The first article to catch this fashionista’s eye was “Find Your Perfect Denim Cutoffs”…immediately, I recalled my blog VIP DIY: Dip Dye Shorts, and I just knew my DIY shorts were my perfect denim cutoffs with a sassy VIP attitude:)

The beginnings of my next outfit started when I saw the article about “peacock shadow”…I knew when I saw it in the Beauty section that I would be glamorizing my eyes with a fresh and daring peacock eyeliner from Lancome!

Building off of the 1980s rebellious blue eye makeup, I decided that I just had to go all out, and that was when I ran across the “Your Look Q&A” article! Someone asked, “I need a break from cardigans. What’s another lightweight layering piece?” and InStyle suggested a light weight cotton blazer…luckily, I had just purchased a turquoise blue blazer similar to the one pictured! So, I skipped off to my closet, grabbed my 80s throwback pants from Deep South Pout, and paired them with a fun floral v-neck shirt and the bright blue blazer (that just screams 1980-in a good way!)! This next outfit is actually on the back of my new business cards:)

This bright blue blazer makes me feel so cute and sophisticated when paired with these fabulous Steve Madden pumps…I have an obsession with super high heels…or so my deddy says;)

I just stumbled across this website.
I’ve got to say, I am utterly in love with so many items. I racked up a bag of £300+ items. A girl can dream.

These are all my top picks. They have so many fine details on shirts and dresses and a pretty cute choice of collar tips. How great are the sequin shorts! They need to appear in my wardrobe soon or I may cry. I just wish I could have the spotty blouse and tie-dye dress for my trip to Amsterdam next week.

Kelly’s got the look!

The 90′s are back and in full bloom! Floral prints are everywhere, from jeans to tops to maxi dresses and more. The last time I saw this trend was on Fresh Prince of Bel Aire, the original 90210, Friends, and of course Saved by the Bell. Kelly Kapowski was always the fashion icon for me and I dreamed that by the time I got to high school I would be as cool as her. Well, I never turned out to be a “Kelly Kapowski” in my school but I think now is my time! Polkadot Tango has put together three different outfits following this bouquet of 90′s trend and we hope that you can grab some inspiration and put your very own spin on it! The graininess in the photos is a result of using the cross-process filter in the editing suite; it’s also a feeble attempt to hide the inadequacy of my Pentax camera.

What You’ll Need:

How to DIY Your Own Current/Elliot Shorts:

1. Pour the white paint into a plastic bowl or plate, or onto tin foil.

2. Dab the sponge in the paint, and then dab it a few times on the newspaper to make the print on the shorts less solid.

3. Place the star stencil where you choose (it helps if it’s a sticky stencil, but if not, be sure to hold in place!)

4. Dab the paint lightly within the stencil, then lift the stencil.

5. Repeat as many times as you want!
