People who are depressed are not temporarily moody or sad. The condition is unfortunately, long-term and negatively affects the way a person feels, thinks and behaves.</span></p>

I took a depression test last night and ranked 24- which means i have a mild depression. Today, I took another test from a different website and I ranked 68; which means I have presence of moderate to marked depression.

I actually cannot believe that I am depressed all these years. I started to track down my life events to see where it all had started. Then I realized the last time I have been in a good shape was in 2007-2008. I pretty much have a balanced life back then. Though I was working on a graveyard shift, I never missed a meal in a day, I didn't take my job too seriously so I had a few stress in life. I have a boyfriend that time and the relationship was pretty great, so life was good. . . Back then.

Then one day, I missed work, I went to the hospital just to have myself checked. Basically all I needed was a note from the doctor that I'm fit to work. The Doctor took some random test, and found out that I have a serious heart condition. My heart rate is failing and they didn't want me to leave the hospital. Of course, I didn't believe him because I am feeling perfectly normal. But just to be safe, I took his advice. Then I became absent for days. Days turned to weeks and eventually I lost my job. I moved out from my condo, and headed back home. It didn't took a while to get myself back to business after some weeks I found a replacement job. But then, my relationship with my boyfriend fell off. Due to my hectic schedule we weren't able to see each other as much as we wanted to. That, had resulted to some third party issues on his part. He was my first boyfriend, and by far, the longest relationship I have had. Losing him, was a stab at my heart. I fought for him, but eventually I had to let go of him. Letting go, was the hardest part. That time, I thought of myself as a loser. I cried, I ate my pride, I begged for him to stay, did everything I could to save the relationship but I guess its not meant to be.

Then, I felt the need to have somebody in my life right away. I didn't care if that person is a rebound, I just wanted to have my attention shifted from him. So I dated this guy who seemed to be caring and all, but then he just got off from a painful break up too. Now, I didn't want to rush things, and make our relationship serious. I realized, I can't take this guy seriously because, first of all, he lives 7000 miles away from me, and was just taking his vacation here. and secondly, like I said we're both fresh from a painful break up. But even though I try myself not to completely fall for this person, I did. I accepted the fact that I will be away from him, and will have a long distance relationship, even though we're not formally together.

I waited for years, and those years were not the easiest. Being away from someone you care about was not as easy as I thought, even though the technology now a days ranked up. It's still hard not to be with each other. Things were pretty frustrating for me, since I sometimes worry about being cheated on again. especially he's not my boyfriend formally. I asked him if wanted to take things to the next level, and he told me that we'll talk about these things when we see each other personally, he reasoned out that he's still not ready considered it's been a year since he and his ex broke up. I respected his decision. Our relationship was harder than my ex boyfriend, because no one knew about us, except my closest friends, and him. I sometimes think that it was pretty selfish of him to let me wait. Nobody has ever made me wait, but him. So I told him he better be worth it. But then again I failed.

2010 was by far the worst year for me, I spent half of the year depressed, not wanting to go to bed at night, thinking too much, rapidly lost a lot of weight, I have not been eating on time. I forgot to take care of myself. I came to a point where I wanted to just DIE. I left a letter to my mother, telling her how sorry I am for being a disappointment, and not being able to stand back up. I lost it. All I wanted to do, is accept the fact that I am a loser and the devil can take me.

I don't know how to commit suicide. I remember I spent some nights researching online about suicide and all I ever saw was advice from people to not do it. So I quit looking, and thought it was pointless. I knew at that point I needed help. I thank God for Friends. I went to my best friend's house one day, and broke down to tears. And it felt good. I cried in public while talking to her, and I didn't give a shit on whoever's looking, or judging me. I wasn't humiliated. Because to me, I'm releasing some weight I have been carrying for years. Though, she gave me some advice, I didn't took it. Because all I needed at that time is an ear who will listen, and she did. But my depression didn't end there. There are still times were I am alone at my room, and cry for no reason. I just felt useless at some point. I felt like I do not have a purpose, because the man that I want does not want to be with me. I blame the universe for it. I hate when I hear reasons like (..darling, it's because life doesn't work that way.) That's totally unacceptable. I mean, yeah maybe, life doesn't work that way, but there's a way to get what I want, and I just can't quite figure out how to do it.

Then, I decided to get another help, I wrote to my aunt how I felt about life and how I wanted to give up. And gladly, she responded with all her means to help me rearrange my life. Again, I thank God for relatives. She listened to me, and asked help from my other relatives. They asked me to go on a vacation, and appreciate life. They asked me to go to another place, to see what it is like to live there. They asked me to go to Dubai. So I did.

I went to Dubai for three weeks, stayed at my aunt's apartment and enjoyed my vacation. Was my depression gone? Barely. But I try to hide it. Then one bad news came to me, and it's about the guy I'm having long distance relationship with. My best friend told me he's seeing another woman, and is about to take a vacation in the Philippines with her. How did I feel? Again, upset. Because, I felt betrayed, for making me wait for years, only to find out that he was never true to me. It was very painful. from then on, I didn't enjoy my whole stay in Dubai. There was even a time,  while my aunt was out in Melbourne and was left alone in her apartment, I thought about jumping the building. I was crying so hard, because again, I felt useless. I was one step away from death. I don't know but, during that moment, the moment were i thought about killing myself, I thought about my family, and how they're going to move on if I had killed myself. I thought about how God won't be able to forgive me for doing such thing. I thought about what might have been if I'm still alive. I guess those were enough reasons to pull myself back from death. It was hard!!!!!

My Aunt came back, and she knew something was wrong, because this time, I can no longer control my emotions. I kept crying, and I can't just control my tears. I thought, there may have been some chemical imbalance in my brain that's not letting me stop my tears, or my emotions. I was still depressed.

I went to Singapore next, and had a three day vacation. And things were far from different. But for a moment, I have forgotten how awful my life was. I decided to help myself again to get back on my feet. I tried to think happy thoughts, and tried to be grateful and thought of positive things, that maybe, an angel tried to pull me back because God said, he still has plans for me. I don't know. (I am Catholic, so I believe in God, Angels, Heaven or Hell.) I tried to show everyone that I am going to be happy. And storms don't last forever. It somehow has changed me. But I was still not satisfied.

I know it's going to take a while to move on to a relationship, especially if you have loved that person so much. I lied, and told everyone that I'm in a relationship, just to avoid myself getting hooked up with another guy again. I felt the need to help myself first, love myself first, then love follows. I asked help from my mother, (by the way she was the last person I turned to get some help) however, she gave me the most meaningful advice. She told me to put God first.

From then on, I followed her advice. I try to seek God's help in every step I make, I thank him for every new day he gives me whether good or bad. I try to think that he better plans for me. For some, this may be not the greatest, wisest solution. Especially for people who don't believe in God. But hey, this is my blog?! LOL JK. Take it in anyway you can, but this has worked for me. I am not saying I am no longer depressed after what I did. Life is full of uncertainties and it may bring you good things and bad stuff. But I guess, all I am saying is with the help of God, I felt stronger, to fight for my life and not to commit suicide. Because life is his gift to us.
