I’ll tell you what fellas, any doubts about this Militia team were put to rest on Saturday as far as I’m concerned. Week in and week out this team has shown us that they can win playing any brand of football out there. A 59-10 offensive outburst to beat Connecticut? Sure, the Militia can do that. A 42-35 knock down drag out slugfest against the Divas? Sure, the Militia can do that. How about intimidating a Philadelphia team into a forfeit ON THEIR OWN TURF for a 1-0 win? Yes, the Militia can do even that.

Now let’s raise the stakes a little. How about a 28-0 shutout in a grudge match against the hated Divas for a little something called, I don’t know, the freaking Eastern Conference Championship?!?! Of course the Militia can do that. They can beat anyone, anywhere, anyhow.

Even on a day where All-World QB Allison Cahill didn’t have her best day (throwing an uncharacteristic 2 picks) the defense picked her up and put a stranglehold on the DC Ditzes, excuse me, Divas. Sure, there have been times this year when naysayers (myself included) have thought that this team relied too heavily on the right arm of Captain Cahill. But Mia Brickhouse and this defense came out playing with something to prove, holding the Divas to their first shutout in 3 years.

On that note, let’s not forget about the defensive game plan that Head Coach Derrick Beasley and his staff put together. Don’t forget that the Divas were able to put up 35 and 36 points against the Militia earlier in the season. Much like all the defensive masterminds though, if he gets a third look at an offense, its game over. A lot of people doubted whether someone who only played in the NFL could gain the attention and respect of a high profile IWFL team like the Militia. Beasley has proven them wrong. This guy can coach any IWFL team if you ask me. Guy needs a raise.

I never thought I’d say this, but we’re heading to Round Rock, Texas to take on the undefeated Sacramento Sirens for the IWFL World Championship! Definitely a tough matchup, which I will break down in the weeks to come, but for now I’m going to sit back and soak in this amazing victory.
