Någon som har en över och vill sälja?

On NPR this morning, they did a segmant over Coco Chanel. I have been very excited for a new movie coming out this fall entitled, Coco Before Chanel. I have read many articles about this movie, and have seen a preview of it before a movie I’ve seen recently, so I was elated this morning when Morning Edition on NPR covered the movie, and talked about Chanel.

What is most enteresting to me, is the story of how she built her industry, and how her very distinqtive and bold take on design and color, transformed womens fashion, forever.

Coco Chanel was an orphan, and spent her childhood at a nunnery, where picking up sublte and preconditioning her for her career. She was influenced by the white and black color palletes of the sisters robes. (currently in her time, women did not wear black or dark colors, as those were reserved for those who were in mourning, or of the ministry). She also developed a skill for sewing.

When she left, she adorned her personal taste for fashion which was rather particular, and contrary to popular and accepted fashion of her time. She often took pants and jackets of her men suitors and tailored them to fit her small frame. She wore muted and dark colors, and recognized that women’s clothes should feel comfortable, and so she disregarded the corsette and petticoat. High society women of her time took notice and begin asking and paying Chanel for her to design thier own clothes, and thats where her industry began.

The most beautiful thing about her story is that she build a legend out of her ability to market her own since of individual style, selling and making what she loved to wear, at a time in society that resisted her trends. She, through time, created her own style and brand that broke restrictions of women, and gifted them through fashion; she gave women a voice. The Chanel Suit is iconic. Forever and always the Chanel suit represents feminity with such boldness and grace. The color pallete of the Chanel line is black and white, and in doing so, expounded on everyday wear and gave us the most prized item in every girls closet, the ”Little Black Dress”. Her designs transcend generations and have given women everywhere the simplicity of pants, wearing brilliantly the color black, and beautiful suites to wear in the work place. Her strong idenity influenced her own clothes and brand, and established her place in the fashion industry as a legend.

Coco Before Chanel is due in theatres this fall

in a brilliant (and i can only image directed at me in particular) attempt to satisfy my burning  need of being in NYC at the Spring 1010 Fashion Week. . .Marc Jacobs has swept me of my feet!

now, to be fair. . .it doesn’t take much, but when somebody mixes two or more things that i LOVE together. . .they’re got a fairly good shot at impressing me.

Marc, (if you will, him and i are on a first name basis) created his Spring line in reference to Martha Graham. As to which, I could not be more thrilled! His attempt was to make his new line appear as if the clothes had been worn on stage at a show, to make it look “dancery”. Complete with the models in appropriate stage makeup and ballerina buns. Also-Marc brought back the scrunchie-we will see if those “scrunchies” translates to wearable trends for everyday life, im betting no. . .but marc could prove me wrong.

it is magical to me that Marc, such a loud voice in the land of runway and mesmerizing yards of fabric, and a powerhouse trend setter in the fashion industry would take his 2010 spring collection jump from a dancer. Martha was Marcs muse for spring, and his pieces and show produced an awe inspiriring ethereal collection. Her movement and grace walked down the runway in sheer fabrics ruffles and pearls, and her boldness in blazers with a hint of military.

i hope people know, that when they shop for spring this next year, they are also getting a little piece of Martha Graham. . .what a beautiful bargain.

(sidenote: Martha Graham is a respectable and monumental foundation layer and pioneer for the Modern dance movement of the 20th century, considered the Mother of Modern dance, much is owed to her including the Graham Technique, contract and release and the spiral)

The easiest one is the most bother

The friend who says this sentence is recent my classmate of study of sea school together, a once shipping political commissar.

He calls Zhao **,The education of the diploma are not high, hold a post and go through in the ocean abundantly, what Zhao’s English is spoken is good, that is that work hits the result of study hard. Achievement of English behaves in the training class excellently, the teachers all ask him the question if having time.

I learn experience from him, he says the easiest one is the most bothersome.

Mr Drake mastering the woks at Sweet Mandarin Chinese Cookery School

Mr Drake is an excellent chef and we had a lot of fun exchanging cooking tips!  He told me he loves Chinese and Thai cuisine, but after the Sweet Mandarin Cookery School, Mr Drake “Loves Chinese food even more now!”  Mr Drake learnt how to cook 6 suppers on a fixed budget, spicing up the dishes for dinner. What did you think Mr Drake? The response, ”Excellent! Maybe I can open my own restaurant ?” replied Mr Drake chuckling as he tasted his Chicken and Sweetcorn soup “Not bad if I say so myself. Tastes like the real thing!” I’m looking forward that dinner invite Mr Drake!
