This was a Eureaka moment for me today! I was at the vet with my daughter Ella and my dog Kennedy our furry companion and security dog for quite a few years now. This summer with all of the rain Kennedy has been dealing with a real flea problem.

Being the environmentalist that I am I refused to flea bomb the house with chemicals. I had looked all over for a solution even the holistic pet store and nothing! The frontline treatments don’t seem to be as effective. It just took talking to the right people at the vets office today. They suggested an old fashioned home remedy that is safe and effective. The vet suggested to use Borax. This is a dry household cleaning product that you can find at any major box store. I have been using this to clean with already and I was shocked at the recommendation. Borax is used a s a laundry booster and a safe abrasive for cleaning sinks,tubs and many other things. After talking with the vet he said that “back in the day” people would create a liquid version of this and call it something else to treat fleas and spiders in peoples homes. Who knew!!! The use of the Borax is along the  idea that this is primarily a salt based product that will kill the fleas naturally by drying them up form the inside out. Now why would I not get excited about this! It just makes me want to itch thinking about the alternative.

The best way to keep allergies down is to have hard wood floors and use area rugs where comfort and coziness is needed. Sprinkle the Borax on the rug and give it some time for the fleas to settle in and grab a bite. It is best to of course to vacuum the rugs or carpet to keep them at bay. This is where a bag-less vacuum is best  and the easiest because you need to empty the contents each time. The fleas do live in certain PH environments and another thing to consider if your pets sleep at the end of the bed it is good idea to wash all the linens as well.

I know this is pretty revealing on my behalf to now we had fleas, but all the maintenance of ridding the fleas can be exhausting as well. So hopefully this will help.

I have started with one of the biggest projects of my Virtual Interior Design Career and wanted to share the process with you. I am realizing the power of the internet and how helpful it can be in enhancing peoples lives.

It all started about a year ago when I was approached by a neighbor who wanted me to help make their space sizzle for a quick sales transaction to their home. They had scene the success I had with some of my own properties and wanted the same results. I was honored that they wanted my services and so we got started. The Dale’s made some very smart decisions on hiring the right realtor and myself as the interior designer to do the staging to get the immediate results we all had hoped for.

During this process I had mentioned to the Dales that I was adding a new service product to my business by offering virtual interior design through the internet and if they thought I could be of some help in their new space to let me know. Well the next conversation went something like this “we would like you to come out to our new home in Denver and make it as wonderful as what you did to this place.” That is just it! The Dale’s loved their space so much after the staging they realized how beautiful their home “could continue to be” that they paused in the idea of giving the space up.

Plans stilled moved forward on the sale of their space, however, the impressions and feelings of gratitude for their space we made to where the Dale’s didn’t want to start another home with out the same “wow” factor again.

So that is how the virtual interior design journey with the Dale’s all got started. The new house has been selected and purchased in Denver, Colorado and is a waiting all of it’s goodies later this month. The relocation realtor has sent me a disk with all of floor plans and perspective photos. I have been able to interview the Dales to see how georgous of a home they are wanting to achieve along with the initial impressions that I have made of the space.

The way we are going to start the process is by giving the Dale’s a floor plan that they can use to advise the mover’s to place the items in the home upon arrival. This will set the functionality of the space off to the right start from the beginning.

As the interior design details are contemplated and finalized I will continue to share in this experience.

I truely believe out of the two main areas in ones home the master bedroom and living room should have the most polished and completed looks. These rooms you spend the most time in from the moment you wake up in the morning to the time you rest after work and the repeat the process. Master Bedrooms are really being sought to be personal retreats. Like that hasn’t change much over the years but the opulence and “hotel”"resort” feeling is very important.

In the article there are other designers discussing their views and I must disagree with the part of the feature that talks about having a television in the bedroom. If you are a person who is serious about being at your deepest level of rest you would not have a television in your room. Also it is distracting on the intimacy. If you are using it as a tool to add to that so be it, however, I advise against it.

The great thing about my career is that I get to really know people and what they feel will add to bettering and inspiring their best lifestyles.

I, Angela DeYoung of Designs by DeYoung llc. had the privelige of giving a guided tour of the city I currently call home Nashville,TN. In this publication I was able to give an insider’s perspective what to do and where to shop. Nashville is a touristy city, but when you take all that away it really is a small town with in a city. The pace of life here is trendy and in some ways I feel like most people relocate their lives here for the great weather and beautiful scenery. There is alot of history in any part of the country, however, Nashville is in a revitalization period which makes for a fun downtown living experience.

Idag fick jag ryck, ska ni veta. Inte bara lärt mig Vista utan julpyntat. Fick upp dom gardinerna jag köpte i somras på Indiska, i vinrött, och nära det fönstret blev det små änglar i guld och vinrött, på att antikbord. Matsalsbordet en bit bort fick gå i svart/vit/guld, mot vardagsrummet övergick det till guld/vitt med stänk av vinrött. Det slutade med att på bordet i vardagsrummet blev det gråa nyanser. Eftersom det är öppen planering syns ju allt ganska bra. Försöker att tänka på det i pyntning bl a. Jag behövde inte inskaffa något nytt pynt det är en fördel med att jobba på förskola för hade en massa vackra saker i guld och vitt sen förra jul. Och svarta ljus plus rekvisita har jag jämt. Årets färg verkar just vara svart.

Min kamera är dålig att ta med när det är mörkt så jag försöker ta ett kort imån om det lyckas och lägger ut. Om jag inte hittar någrå kort jag nyligen tagit annars i hemmet.

Ni ska veta att gardinerna jag hängde upp var en aning skrynkliga! Så jag ångade dom efter att jag hängt upp dom. Gardinerna ger en härlig (vinröda) värme nu när det är ruggigt ute.
