There is a flaw that lies within. It is hereditary, no human is exempt. Though the force may be stronger in one than in another, it is present in all. It is the greatest evil for from it results all other imperfection and malignancy. Because of it lives have been destroyed, nations torn apart, morals devalued. Through it occurs death, disease and poverty. Running rampant it ravishes, rages, renders useless. To remove this aspect of the human character would unquestionably alter the condition of the world for the better. Yet, to remove selfishness one must eliminate the ablitity to choose and in turn the very essence of humanity. To save mankind from its own unconscious suicide in effect means to destroy humanity itself.

In order to escape sentimentality… The first thing we must do is destroy popular music.

There’s a lot of talk about how humans are “destroying” the Earth. I don’t think we really are though…

Throughout the passage of time, animals come in and out of extinction, primarily just because they were that particular animal. Of course huge wipe outs like the dinosaurs are a bit different, but a lot of these animals go extinct because of one main reason: being hunted. The Dodo bird wouldn’t be extinct if it hadn’t been an excellent source of food for explorers at the time, the Caspian tiger would not have become extinct if it did not have a beautiful coat.

Humans would not become extinct, except that its quite obvious that we were not meant to survive in the long run. Looking in the natural course of things, we are overpopulated, have the right food in the wrong places, the earth itself is beginning to reject us (global warming). Eventually, there may be a subspecies of humans or something like that… but at some point, humans as we know them now will become extinct, along with all the other various animals in the world.

I wouldn’t say it’s because humans are “evil,” it’s just the natural course of earth’s life. I suppose you could say we’re destroying it, but how do you destroy a planet? Even after human’s demise, the planet will build itself up again into something different. Earth has been hit with dramatic events all of its life, meteor showers, ice ages… countless amount of changes. This is just another phase it’s going through.

Eventually, as you might learn in an Astronomy class when you’re older, the sun will essentially explode into a supernova and the Earth will be entirely destroyed anyways in the process.

Makes you feel small, huh?

If an innovation is radical in the organizational sense, incumbents have two problems in exploiting it. In the first place, since the change is competence destroying, they do not have the capabilities to exploit it. In the second place, and perhaps more important, the firm’s existing capabilities may not only be useless, they may actually be a handicap to the introduction and development of the innovation. Firms find it difficult to break their habits, the routines and procedures they had put in place to exploit the old technology. They must unlearn the old ways of doing things. New entrants, on the other hand, do not have the burden of the old technology and can go on unencumbered to build capabilities for the innovation and exploit it.

If, on the other hand, the innovation is incremental, incumbents tend to dominate since the required knowledge builds on what they already have, but new entrants would have to build it from scratch.

Positioning is a tricky thing. I mean, on the one hand, you kind of have to admire the balls shown by the creative team in charge of branding the Motorolla’s alleged iPhone killer, the Droid. They basically looked at the conceptual space owned by iPhone – most humanistic, engaging, downright gregarious smartphone on the planet – and in textbook fashion invented the most polarizing brand personality possible: a cold, inhuman robot.

Differentiating, check.

Appealing? Hells no! R2-D2 might register as a positive association, but they’re making the thing look more like some kind of Skynet device come to imprison humanity. I mean, I get that it’s not an iPhone. Confusion allayed. But you know what? I still prefer my gadgets warm and cuddly. Just look at that photo above. It reminds me of HAL from 2001.

In short, based on the campaign so far, I don’t give a rat’s ass what Droid does. That thing has obviously been sent from the future to destroy us.

With endless potential and possibility, we insist on demolishing our legacy!

sat still..different positions..music blaring..concentrating..on being..still..in that moment..then suddenly..shrouded mirror appeared..so i began..tearing at veils..on mirror..each piece..significant part of ego’s life..threw them away..destroying them..destroy means to free it from any association with time..as i did that..see image in mirror..but more i peeled off…harder to tell what image was..there was light…light grew..mirror shone..recurring images of a feminine me..think that’s what image in mirror was…light..sensed by pineal gland..or third eye..light in mirror..pineal gland holds feminine charge..feminine sight…light..third eye…open.

We got a tip about a USB CD destroyer. We found its methods amusing as it just scratches the CD as seen above on the left. If you really have data security issues, perhaps something more than scratched plastic should be used. There are a lot of paper shredders that can also shred CDs, what about taking that shredder with the burnt out motor and turning it into a hand-cranked shredder that doubles as a CD killer?

Got a lot of optical media that needs to go? These folks developed the chain-gun of CD shredding with an automatic feed. This consists of a CD shredder and a slew of discs connected with packing tape. As seen in the video after the break, the shredder advances and the next disk is pulled into its jaws.

Microwave has been a popular bringer of death for disc media. The light show and resulting chaotic art (above on the right and after the break) are what make this interesting, but it’s pretty hard on the much-loved kitchen appliance. What we’re really looking for is a way to force a CD/DVD writer to overwrite data. The fact that burnt discs, rather than factory pressed versions, are what normally need to be disposed of makes this a hack waiting to happen. Why isn’t this a standard hardware feature of all drives, and can it be implemented in software?

There’s always the low-tech snap, scratch, or mangle methods. We usually just scratch the foil off the top of the disc.

SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based.

It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.

The UEA’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation.

The data were gathered from weather stations around the world and then adjusted to take account of variables in the way they were collected. The revised figures were kept, but the originals — stored on paper and magnetic tape — were dumped to save space when the CRU moved to a new building.
