I love the fact that I’m form Detroit or “The D”. For generations we have pionee

I love the fact that I’m form Detroit or “The D”. For generations we have pioneered not only automotive industry but music as well. We are the home of Motown, The Creators of Techno, home of artist Like The Funk Brothers, Madonna, Eminem, Kid Rock, and many more people who help mold the music industry. Music is a huge part of Detroit culture, any were in the city you go you’ll find bands playing, DJ’s spinning or Rappers in a cipher raping there newest lyrics. We are Detroit Rock City and have the song to prove it written by Kiss!! I think this is because Detroit is a working class city, one of the roughest in the Country. For along time record executives have looked to the inner cities for trend setting music. R&B, Blues, Jazz, Hip-hop, and Electro all have been birthed in the inner cities across America and have been the top of the trends for their Generation. For each of these trends Detroit has always had artist that were on the cutting edge of there genre. Detroit has a tough reputation and and is a rough place to survive. This is way our music is always on the cutting edge. A good artist expresses their feelings through their music. Music moves a persons emotion, reminds them of time or event in their life. IT makes you happy, sad and even laugh. An artist from Detroit have a lot of life experiences to draw from so their fans can relate to their music. No mater what you may think about Detroit, no matter if you call us Mo Town, The Motor City, or even Murder City we are a city of great music! For example this weekend, Memorial Weekend, which is also the weekend of the Detroit Music festival and for years now people have traveled all of the world to be here this weekend. There are more hotels rooms sold on this weakend then when Detroit has the Auto Shows which is the biggest car show in the world.

While previously brushing the subject of Detroit In Effect, this little treasure appeared after fran

While previously brushing the subject of Detroit In Effect, this little treasure appeared after frantic searches for more mega-paced, cruising through city lights, blamming pure electro. It’s unclear as to whether this mix is actually from 1987, or instead an ode to a specific time when pre-Drexciyan, straight up electronic funk was rife in the Motor City.

Comprising of DJ Maaco and P-Dog, D.I.E. are probably better known for their brilliantly underrated releases on Clone – Keep Hanging [2002] & The Men You’ll Never See Pt.2 [2003], and on Frustrated Funk as their further up-tempo Cybonix pseudonym. However, back in the D, releases on their own M.A.P. imprint remain the work of gods; true to the Atkinian, no-nonsense 808 electro workout of back in the day, with a ghetto/booty-tech flava. And the synth-heavy basslines would melt even the most robust T-1000 to the core. Pure body music!

Forget the ones about robots dancing to music, or making music, or making love to a computer hard dr

Forget the ones about robots dancing to music, or making music, or making love to a computer hard drive… and occasionally real women. This savagely rare old school cut from Detroit is the sound of a humanoid junky with wires coming out of his head; a harmless, beautiful dreg whose sole purpose is to program beats from beneath. With this image in mind, along with the stabby unpolished sinister hook throughout the tune, it brings to mind the raw aesthetic of industrial hyper cinema like Tetsuo: The Iron Man, with chrome shell suits thrown into the mix. Equally righteous and just as low profile, Detroit In Effect used the vocal sample on their track of the same name. However, this one can be purchased pretty easily on most specialist digital music download sites.

Sound Of Mind aka Erik Travis has done a few bits and pieces since this debut release from 1987, but typical of much awesome Detroit electro… it’s all rare as fuck.
