The stoker weighs in about dogs: I am afraid of dogs, even though we have one. I am not exactly sure

The stoker weighs in about dogs:

I am afraid of dogs, even though we have one. I am not exactly sure where this fear comes from. My mother occasionally recalls an experience I can’t remember when I was two and she rescued me from a German shepherd dragging me down the street by my hair. Or, maybe my fear comes from all the stories my grandfather told about his dog encounters. As a child he was bitten a couple of times and from then on went everywhere with a long wood staff. (He also had a crazy story about fire ants in World War II.) Maybe my fear of dogs has to do with an interview I heard on NPR about a guy getting eaten alive by a bear—it just seems like something that could also happen with a dog.

Getting a road bike provided me with a lot of new reasons to fear dogs. Over the years, some of the more memorable dogs I have encountered on my bike include a chow-cheetah mix that outran our tandem at 26 miles an hour, two chihuahua-pit bull mixes that almost got squashed and wrecked us, the pit bull monster that broke away from his owner and nearly ate us all up, the house of the seven black labs, five snarling curs on a road named “Lamb,” and a great dane whose teeth were as high as my handlebars. Then there have been all the puppies that have chased us along busy roads. I particularly hate going past houses that have life-sized plaster dogs as yard ornaments, because from a distance they look like real dogs poised to get me.

The following video illustrates how we felt today during the one encounter riding home today.

Wolf hunting caribou in BBC's Planet Earth.

See the baby deer – that was us today on our ride.

Cycling on rural roads has taught me some truths about dogs and bikes:
1)	Dog owners do not always leash their dogs.
2)	Dog owners who live on busy roads do not always leash their dogs.
3)	To a dog, there is something irresistible about a human whizzing past a house at about the same speed as a running deer.
4)	The best, loveliest rides have the meanest dogs.
5)	The worst dogs appear when you are going uphill.
6)	Before a bike ride through the country, it is better not to watch that episode of Planet Earth where the wild dogs attack the gazelle.
7)	Dogs are less likely to go after groups of riders.

One of my favorite conversations with other cyclists is how to deal with dog encounters. Some of the strategies I have heard include using pepper spray, throwing handfuls of rocks, squirting with the water bottle, shouting “no,” kicking in the face, clubbing with a tire pump, activating dog sonar to hurt their ears, yelling “go faster!” and carrying a gun. While I wouldn’t try all of these, I clearly need a strategy besides yelling “no,” and “go faster!” which didn’t really work today on our ride home from work (I am writing this from the hospital. Just kidding, y’all). On the next ride, I’m going to stuff my jersey pockets with pebbles.

What I really want to know is, does that dog sonar really work? Here’s one of the brands of “sonic” dog repellent:

That’s like Prairie Home Companion’s riff “Duct tape: it’s almost the only thing you need sometimes.”

I have to say that being on a tandem is much better for dog encounters, for a number of reasons. You can go faster and outrun a dog. The stoker, i.e. me, is free to inflict all kinds of self-defense tactics (see above) on canine offenders. You are quieter and sneakier, especially if your tandem is as well-maintained as mine. You can take a picture of the mean dog to display on your tandem blog (one day, folks!) and finally, your hands are free to call the sheriff on the beast’s owners.

The second-generation Kindle is getting a boost in battery life as well as new native PDF capabiliti

The second-generation Kindle is getting a boost in battery life as well as new native PDF capabilities. Amazon indicated today that the Kindle’s battery life during wireless use will be extended by 85 percent by way of an improved battery management improvement program that is part of Kindle software update version 2.3. The firmware upgrade will also allow users to read and resize unconverted PDFs.

Enhanced PDF capabilities will catch the Kindle up with existing competitors such as the Sony Reader which currently handle unconverted PDFs, and add to Kindle’s guard against upcoming readers such as the QUE which will be marketed as “business oriented” due to its document-oriented capabilities. Longer battery power will help the Kindle against upcoming devices such as the Alex reader that will be powered by the battery-efficient ARMADA 166E.

The upgrade will automatically be delivered to Kindle customers via the device’s wireless connection, and the automatic installation will not require users’ consent. While the wireless meddling by Amazon in this case seems to be for the greater good of Kindle users, it nonetheless evokes unpleasant memories of this summer’s 1984/Animal Farm fiasco.

Nearly 1% of people over 50 years of age have visual field problems following a stroke or brain inju

Nearly 1% of people over 50 years of age have visual field problems following a stroke or brain injury. The classic pattern of this visual field loss is to lose half of the visual field from each eye, which is known as homonymous (meaning the same side) hemianopia (meaning a loss of half of the visual field). The effect of this is to not be able to see anything to the left or right side of the central point of the vision. As you can imagine this has a significant impact on reading, navigating, and walking in crowded environments.

One strategy to overcome this is to make more eye movements into the blind side of the vision – for example, if the right side of the visual field is missing, the person makes repeated head and eye movements to their right in order to move the region of good vision to the right hand side. However this is a difficult strategy to learn. An obvious alternative approach is to use prism lenses to move the image of objects which fall on the non-seeing side into the healthy part of the visual field. A problem with this is that they create central double vision – which can be more disabling than having missing visual field.

For the past 10 years or so, Dr Eli Peli from Harvard Medical School has been using an alternative approach – a peripheral prism system which is fitted on the top and bottom of a spectacle lens, leaving the central region clear. The idea of this system is that things which fall into the top or bottom of the nonseeing visual field are moved into the seeing region, alerting the person to make a head or eye movement to examine what is there.

A report on this system appeared in Archives of Ophthalmology last year, reporting that 74% of people who were fitted with the prisms still used them six weeks after they were dispensed, and that about half of the people who were fitted with the prisms still used them one year later. People with hemianopia report these glasses as being particularly useful for avoiding obstacles at home, in shops and shopping centres, and when walking in unfamiliar environments.

More information on this system can be found at www.hemianopia.org.

It is good news that peripheral prism spectacles seem to be useful for walking and navigation for a reasonable proportion of people with hemianopia. Unfortunately they are less useful for reading and computer work, which in my experience is a very frequent complaint of people with this type of visual field loss. However given that 1% of the older population has heminaopia, and that the population are ageing, I would not be surprised if adaptive devices to help reading with visual field loss are developed in the future.

A man's home is his castle, as the proverb says. But homes today typically do not have walls, drawbridges, moats and six-meter-thick walls to protect against unwanted visitors. Today, a house alarm, preferably a managed home security system is needed to ensure home safety. Not only does installing a home security system to improve the safety of your family and property, but it can also decrease your home insurance costs. The Top Ten House Alarm and Home Security Devices list are ten devices and features of home security systems that can make your house a safer place.

The Top Ten

10. Talking Devices help you to understand the status of your home and monitoring as well as program the system. Some security systems feature talking master control panels, key pads or remotes. The Learning function does not result in great conversation, but it will help you in your system a little better.

9. Some home> Alarm systems include extras such as key rings and remote controls to control the system remotely. Something similar to key in your car, home security key ring includes keys to activate and deactivate the house alarm system. Some even have a "panic" button that activates the house alarm and alerts the authorities in case of an emergency. Remote controls are very similar and often larger. The features of remotes vary greatly and can have a full keyboard, including atalking function, and a panic button, too.

8. Yard Signs and House or Window Decals advertise your home protection. The Study of Residential identified Greenwich Security that should be more often burglarized homes without alarms from 2.7 to 3.5 times, and that the most effective deterrent was the alarm monitoring company yard sign (SIA Research Update, Security Industry Association, October 2001) . Some choose the sign deter possible break-ins around without actually postInstalling an alarm system at home. During this effort, the odds of an attempted burglary, a yard sign alone can not protect completely cut at home.

7. A back-up power supply is essential for the maintenance of security at home, even during a power outage, when the risk of break-ins and looting is increased. Your home alarm should be effective, even if your power is not. The easiest to maintain back-up power supplies use standard batteries. Look for a model that usesBatteries to lower your maintenance costs.

6. Smoke Detectors add an extra layer of protection to your home, especially if they are integrated into the house alarm system. Not only that, smoke detectors indicate a fire and give you time to escape safely, but if in a home security package, they automatically notify the managing company and the fire department. Some systems integrate the power supply of smoke detectors. That means you do not haveto change the batteries ever!

5. Wireless systems to protect your house without the addition of extra cables to stumble or extensive installation of in-wall cords. In wireless house alarm systems, each sensor or keypad communicates with the master control panel via radio frequencies or existing wiring in your home. A burglar will never be able to disarm the system by cutting the wires. This will ensure the system is fully integrated and monitoring all parts of your house without yourOutlets or creating an obstacle course of wires for you.

4. Extra Key Pads are also important. Exterior mounted key pads can safely Keyless Entry to your family. Some systems also offer remote control key pads which are light and portable. A home alarm system, a security code with a keyboard features increases the security of your home. A system can also be controlled to block entry after several repeated attempts failed to specify when entering a possibleIntrusion.

3. Key pads may not always be enough to keep burglars out there. Reduce sensors on windows and doors is not the risk of a downturn of the input are detected and are a key part of a house alarm system. Motion detectors in the apartment a higher level of security. The latest motion is also a function for moving pets to ignore "that constantly Avoid the alarm by mistake.

2. To raise the installation, monitoring and repair servicesnot only the level of security, but the convenience of holding home safely. A house alarm to communicate not only the police or fire departments in case of an emergency. The complete systems include buttons to share police, fire and medical assistance immediately. Another advantage is the best monitoring companies is live customer support and full service installation and repair of the system by employees who tested since the backgroundlicensed and drug tested to ensure your safety. Finally, some firms even offer relocation services to save you, even if you move.

1. The classic Master Control Panel is vital to any home alarm system. The central hub of the system, the panel is usually wall mounted in an easily accessible place. The panel receives information from all other sensors and key pads, calculated, and transmits relevant information for monitoring business. If youto decide which arm of the jury, if you leave the house, the master control panel also receives the disarm code when you return home. Some can even be disarmed by telephone!

Of course, this list is not complete, and the needs of every home and homeowner are different. For more tips on choosing the right home alarm system and functions to protect your house, I recommend visiting alarmoneinc.com.

Ok, I probably watch every paranormal ghost hunting series out there. I would not say I’m a b

Ok, I probably watch every paranormal ghost hunting series out there. I would not say I’m a believer in spirits from the beyond so much but I wouldn’t say its impossible either. What I really enjoy about these shows is the various techniques they use to detect the potential presence of ghosts. The technology used is straight out of a mix between a 007 flick and a Chernobyl documentary. So when watching these shows, I am often impressed with their improvising and at the same time annoyed at their lack of technical knowledge. Simply put, they often over look the obvious when getting an output from a particular device. Caught up in the Ghost Hunting excitement I would suspect. The following is a breakdown of the tools and equipment they use and my personal take on the effectiveness and accuracy of the results.

Still Picture, Video - Not going into detail on the obvious equipment they use. Typically a digital camera, DVRs, MiniDVs, handheld recording devices, etc. Not much to it and some images caught such as ’shadow people’ or objects moving are often solid pieces of evidence.

Issue: Orbs, Orbs, Orbs! Tired of hearing about Orbs and watching an investigator get all excited about a bug or a piece of dust flying by the camera. TAPS is pretty solid about debunking orbs, but some of these other guys out there need to settle down. I’ve watched Ghost Adventurers and in one segment they are pronouncing a flying insect as a spirit entering a body, and then in the next, they are ignoring these same flying critters all around them IN THE SAME ROOM! Until I see captured video of something like the stair scene in the movie Poltergeist, I don’t want to hear about orbs.

Audio - Pretty straight forward as well. Hand-held mini digital and analog recording devices, plus various microphones and audio devices on the digital video recorders and production equipment. Honestly, the audio is always the most intriguing for me. Listening to the EVP’s, disembodied voices, or banging footsteps is always exciting and is often very believable.

Issue: I just don’t know… It’s not so much I question whether the sounds or voices were captured, but rather how was the audio rendered? What software are they using to filter and enhance the audio, and what formats are they using? I think If I had the original segment and could listen though the head phones like they do, I would be more likely to believe them all. Sitting on this side of my TV, I often don’t hear what they hear. I hear “murmur murmur blah” and they say “did you here that?! It said Get Out!!”. I just don’t know.

Infrared Video - A video device that captures video in the Infrared Spectrum. Most commonly used by paranormal investigators is the FLIR. It allows the investigators to see a graphical representation of surface temperatures around them. Often captured are images of a ghostly figure or sometimes traces of a heat source such as footprints, hand prints, or heat left behind on a chair or seat cushion.

Issue: As stated, the FLIR displays SURFACE temperatures. The FLIR can really only provide temperature readings on surfaces with some mass. This is to say, the IR signals sent out must reflect off of a surface to provide an accurate reading. If ghosts are being captured, then this would mean the spirits are solid objects, not ‘apparitions’. A simple debunk: A candle lit in a breezeless room emits heat that you can easily feel 1-2 feet above the flame, but the FLIR will only indicate high-heat right at and around the flame, not above it. Also, quite often, reflections are captured on glass, metal, or shiny surfaces. These are usually smartly debunked by the crews, but other surfaces such as furniture, hard flooring and walls are not debunked and are often confused as ghostly signatures. Even semi-porous surfaces can reflect heat.

More issues: I think the investigators really need to look closely at how the equipment works. Often an investigator will attest to ‘unexplained anomalies’, that I can easily debunk as ‘user error’. Bright flashes, often associated with ghostly anomolies are just quick reflections captured by the sensor. In auto mode, the processor hasn’t the time to adjust to the new temp range and so throws out a series of flashes. With the investigators moving around with flashlights and even the night vision lights, it can easily be dismissed as beams form these objects reflecting off surfaces.

Thermography: IR thermographs, digital temperature readers, etc. Used to find temperature fluctuations in an area just like an IR camera. Only difference is the FLIR provides a graphical representation while these other devices just provide a digital temperature display.

Issue: Same applies as with the FLIR. IR temperature sensors are the EXACT SAME technology, except how the data is displayed! Investigators will often find a ‘cold spot’ with one of these devices and move it around the cold spot showing us the huge temperature difference. As they move it around, the beam is reflecting across every object in the room and registering those temps, not the temp in the middle of the room. Remember, Solid SURFACE TEMPS!

More issues: Now digital thermometers are able to measure ambient air temperatures, but not on the fly like they often are used. The time to indicate temperature changes takes time. When you use a digital thermometer to measure a person’s temperature, it is not instantaneous. It takes time, and if the investigator is moving around a room, I cannot logically consider temperature fluctuations as evidence.

EMF detectors and K2 (KII) Meters - Devices for measuring electromagnetic fields. The K2 is an EMF detector that provides an LED indication of activity rather than the standard meter. There are many ranges of EMF detectors from narrow band to broad-spectrum (50/60Hz to 20-3GHz). Overall, EMF detectors are pretty good devices for indicating anomalies, but at the same time can’t be used to indicate solid evidence of paranormal activity because the source is still not known.

Issue: There are soooo many sources of electromagnetic radiation both in the natural world and man-made. Even if there is no sources of electricity in the location being investigated, there is still a huge amount of potential sources. Lightning sends a broad range EMF pulse out from a few hundred Hertz into the infrared and microwave spectrum. You can tune your AM radio to an unused frequency (best is at around 500 MHz.) and listen to lightning even when there is no thunder or visible strikes. Wireless phones transmit at 900MHz or 2.4 GHz. Handheld radios, walkie-talkies, car ignitions, vacuum cleaners, microwaves, blow dryers, etc all emit EMF, and can be detected at long distance. So every time one of these K2 meters indicates activity, I have to quesiton it. What is intriguing though is the conversations they have in which the K2 seems to be responding to questions. Hard to say…Intriguing

I love how the equipment paranormal investigators use seem to be getting more and more sophisticated. Now they are using Ion Chargers to ionize the air so the ghosts can have usable energy, broad spectrum devices for capturing all sorts of stuff, motion sensors, you name it, their trying it! I just wish they would read the manual first.

My Picks:

Ghost Hunters (TAPS) – 3 Stars

Ok, the original and I am still a fan. They were the 1st to try and debunk as much evidence as possible. I still respect them for their professionalism, but come-on, change it up a little! Its getting a bit old: “Ok, you know what we did, we listened to the claims of activity……” They say and do the same exact thing every time. A little anal, lighten up and have some fun! Try some new stuff. jay is a hard-ass which is his character, but would like him and Grant to get a little more involved and really try to improve their techniques, not just jump on mistakes in every episode. And I would like to see Grant stop faking stuff too. All in all, still a good show and Steve and Tango keep it lively.

Ghost Hunters International (GHI) – 3.5 stars

I have to say they go beyond their founding brothers in the States. I love the locations they go to. Berry is always trying to improve upon and use more ghost hunting technology, and the entire crew works to analyze the data. It’s a step up.

Ghost Hunters Academy – 1.5 stars

Love Steve and Tango, but the shows lame. A bunch of wannabees being deceitful and steve being a bit of a hard ass. I think they learned from the pros a little to well. Lighten up and make it a bit more fun!

Ghost Adventurers – 4 stars!

It is just straight up fun! They are always excited and really getting into it but that does not mean they skimp on technology. They try all kinds of devices. The cussing is hilarious: “Did you just BEEEPING scratch me!!!’ haha. Zac is nuts and Aaron, a big guy, but with just enough fear to add humor. They provoke a lot and get results. Only issues, STOP with the Possession BS and the Orbs!!! Seriously!

Paranormal State: 1 star

I just put it on for background noise. Its way to religious and emotionally based. Plus I think the lead guy, Ryan, has a thing for cougars. It’s kinda creepy.

Ghost Lab – 4.5 stars!

Ok, I just watched a series of these shows for the 1st time last night. I like it! Good team, work together, light-hearted but also devoted investigators. They seem to be using a serious arsenal of technologies to detect paranormal activity and I have not seen any fake or seriously huge exagerations….so far. And they produce! We shall see where it goes, but so far, I am notably impressed.

Aluminium is unusually light metal, the thanks what using it is possible for in numerous and different zastosowaniach in many fields of industry. Aluminium products are second-hand in households, they are also enjoying popularity in manufacturing companies, factories and enterprises. He owes such a great popularity of aluminium to his chemical properties and the universality of appearing. This element is taking the third place amongst most often appearing on the Earth. The mankind knows aluminium already for ages, also in compounds with different elements. Before they were being applied in medicine, for example for the disinfection of wounds. It was proven that they had so just used aluminium (different name of this element) ancient Greeks. Nowadays it is applied both pure, as well as different aluminium his connections. Made appliances of aluminium are light and therefore it is possible to use them for many everyday activities morover this metal is resistant to rusting; simple in the conservation and aesthetic are literally finding application for the eye everywhere. Cans so often come across today can be an example – made of Duralumin i.e. alloy of the listed root, magnesium and copper, are light and at the same time comfortable. Cans of drinks are a synonym of modern world straight out, there would be however no them, if not for aluminium. Many companies produce the part of aluminium to devices, to the popularity in this field of industry an exchanged already resistance to the process of the corrosion has. Aluminium is also being used for reactions, thanks to which isolating different elements is possible. It is worthwhile here exchanging the process aluminotermii, which oxides of metals are being subjected to the reaction in. There is powdered aluminium in the use – to reaction, manufacturing fireworks, explosive blends, in the form of the constant or also in liquid – as dye.

Every, smaller or bigger workshop, must be equipped with different needed devices and workshop tools. They are essential to carry basic activities out, they are making the work easier and much they are precipitating it. Depending on assigning them they can it to be e.g. workshop tools used by shoemakers, tailors, carpenters, locksmiths, blacksmiths, and the like every kind of material requires also using appropriate tools, similarly as a matter of fact as the kind of processing or its way. Apart from essential tools moreover different support tools amongst which he cannot are in every workshop instruments, a pair of pliers, screwdrivers, saws, axes to be missing, and the like devices allowing for the timber processing are in carpenter’s workshops. They are these are largely power tools, so as circular saws, cykliniarkas, streams, milling machines, grinders, fretsaws. Also workshop tools are essential manual which are necessary to carry different jobs out and are appearing in every workshop. All tools being in a workshop should be after finishing works exactly cleaned, but smaller handmade and support tools put on the right places. One should keep valuable tools in special hanging or standing cupboards.
In magazines about the building subject matter or intended for DIY enthusiasts often advice is how to furnish the perfect workshop. It is possible to read there that appropriate putting shelves and handles is playing a significant role to workshop tools. Order is very important, it isn’t possible to keep tools anywhere. They are useful even if ordinary stands or nails, on which some of tools can be hung, boxes and containers for foods for putting smaller elements away and big drawers.

Tools are very important and special devices which are being applied in all cannon of the economy and in different fields of the life. Applying tools in the farming let people living in bygone eras achieve much greater yields. At first they were these are very primitive tools, carved from wood, the stone or bones, then into the measuring cup of the developing awareness and progress tools were produced of durable materials. Hoes made of iron, shovels, sickles, scythes, flails, garden hoes came in and a lot of different helpful in all work in the field. They were these are handmade tools and using them required a lot of effort. Using by finding different tools and including became great facilitation to the work of draught animals which helped people with the agriculture pulling the plough, harrows or the cultivator. The turning point and progress in the farming bought only mechanized having the own drive or working in tandem with tractors tools. On their own working tools of this type are actually being called agricultural machines. Agricultural implements of different type are finding application all cultivations and agricultural works. There are harrows of different kind, rotovators, cultivators among them, ploughs, spreaders of manure of fertilizers, the planter, sowers, chaff-cutters, mowers, binders and winnowers. With universal agricultural machine at many works a combine harvester is of help. Once sparsely he is being seen on fields, today universally used as the multifunctional machine and used during the harvest for mowing and threshing of cereal crops, at the potato-lifting of root crops, beets and potatoes. Using it is replacing the functioning of many machines which earlier were used for making the same works and is also replacing the work of people.

Well, fret no more. Microsoft is making its answer to the iPhone app store available for all phones running Windows Mobile 6.0 and up.
Sure, anyone stuck with an aging Windows Mobile 5.0 or earlier phone is stuck downloading and installing applications the old fashioned way — by surfing the web to find programs and downloading either the CAB installer files or EXE files that can be installed from a PC using ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center. And then you have to walk uphill 2 miles in the snow to school and back and you’ll like it!
You can install the Marketplace application by visiting mp.windowsphone.com on your mobile browser to download the software.
Last-minute holiday shoppers who may still be on the fence about adding an e-reader to their gadget

Last-minute holiday shoppers who may still be on the fence about adding an e-reader to their gadget collections now have more reason to second guess their purchase.

Shipments of Sony’s new $399 Daily Edition Reader may not make it home in time for Christmas, according to a report in today’s Wall Street Journal. Likewise, pre-orders placed over the next few weeks for Barnes & Noble’s nook device may not secure a holiday delivery date. Kindles, however, are as of now good to go for December 25th deliveries.

Company executives at both Sony and B&N were quick to hold up the delay as an example of their devices’ retail success. However, there is no way to know how many units were actually pre-ordered. It is possible that both companies low-balled their estimates due to the general opacity of the e-reader demand landscape. On the other hand, they also may have built in this “run on supply
strategy purposely to build product hype. It may very well be that each company is trying to make their respective device this year’s Tickle Me Elmo, envisioning media hype-friendly images of consumers overwhelming their websites on Black Friday or selling nooks and Readers on eBay to the highest bidder.

It seems especially odd that Sony, a long-time electronics maker that should be reasonably well versed in electronics supply-chain planning is struggling with demand issues. Barnes and Noble as a bookseller is arguably less familiar with the strategy of determining electronics demand and distribution, but is still a retailing giant who should have been better prepared.

Hype machine or no, the very prospect of holiday delivery date pressure may be enough to influence some consumers to wait it out until the next best thing comes along.

At first we considered making sarcastic comments about paying the same for a miniature 7″ monitor that you would for a monitor three times the size. Then we took a closer look at the Mimo Mini USB monitor and realized it is powered entirely via USB, no external AC adaptor or video card needed. This miniature display marvel also runs in landscape or portrait mode and also comes in a touchscreen version. Mimo Mini, we think we love you – full specs after the jump.

According to The Really Mobile Project, Nokia will drop S60 from all of its flagship N-series consumer devices in favor of Maemo. Apparently, Nokia has been pleasantly surprised by the enthusiastic response to the N900 OS even though the enthusiast package is not quite ready for mass-market appeal. Mind you, the transition won’t be instantaneous as anyone with an N900 (and a clear mind) can attest.

Well, one of the most anticipated BlackBerries has been released and it has been 24 hours since my purchase. Here are my initial reactions:

The new Trackpad is AMAZING!! RIM should have thought of this a long time ago.

Battery life is really good! Been on it all day with UberTwitter, Bluetooth, Text and E-Mail. Still at 60%

Although having the same clock speed as it’s predecessor, the Bold2 is fast and very responsive.

Some apps are having trouble connecting or even opening at all. Most likely due to OS 5.0

Haven’t been able to test 3G because of the area I live in is right on the fringe. Will report back when I have more info.

Let me know your initial reaction as well in the comments below.
