Saya sedang luar biasa tegang menjelang event STAND UP & TAKE ACTION hari Sabtunya. Satu persatu SMS datang.

Saya sampai menitik air mata. Belum sampai nangis sih. Dan senangnya punya teman yang memberi semangat. “We’ve come this far, and we ain’t gonna stop, Cur.” Gitu katanya.

Jam 3 sore, akhirnya berkumpulah sekitar 50 orang di kantor FeMale. Senang sekali rasanya. Thanks a bunker.

Thanks Ima for coming. We don’t even know her before.

Lalu berteriaklah kita, STAND UP AND TAKE ACTION. Semoga.

That’s for sure.

Ulalume The skies they were ashen and sober; The leaves they were crisped and sere - The leaves they

Ulalume

The skies they were ashen and sober;
The leaves they were crisped and sere -
The leaves they were withering and sere;
It was night in the lonesome October
Of my most immemorial year:
It was hard by the dim lake of Auber,
In the misty mid region of Weir -
It was down by the dank tarn of Auber,
In the ghoul-haunted woodland of Weir.

Here once, through and alley Titanic,
Of cypress, I roamed with my Soul -
Of cypress, with Psyche, my Soul.
These were days when my heart was volcanic
As the scoriac rivers that roll -
As the lavas that restlessly roll
Their sulphurous currents down Yaanek
In the ultimate climes of the pole -
That groan as they roll down Mount Yaanek
In the realms of the boreal pole.

Our talk had been serious and sober,
But our thoughts they were palsied and sere -
Our memories were treacherous and sere, -
For we knew not the month was October,
And we marked not the night of the year
(Ah, night of all nights in the year!) -
We noted not the dim lake of Auber
(Though once we had journeyed down here) -
Remembered not the dank tarn of Auber,
Nor the ghoul-haunted woodland of Weir.

And now, as the night was senescent
And star-dials pointed to morn -
As the star-dials hinted of morn -

Catacala Ulalume (Silk Moth)

At the end of our path a liquescent
And nebulous lustre was born,
Out of which a miraculous crescent
Arose with a duplicate horn -
Astarte’s bediamonded crescent
Distinct with its duplicate horn.

And I said: “She is warmer than Dian;
She rolls through an ether of sighs -
She revels in a region of sighs:
She has seen that the tears are not dry on
These cheeks, where the worm never dies,
And has come past the stars of the Lion
To point us the path to the skies -
To the Lethean peace of the skies -
Come up, in despite of the Lion,
To shine on us with her bright eyes -
Come up through the lair of the Lion,
With love in her luminous eyes.”

But Psyche, uplifting her finger,
Said: “Sadly this star I mistrust -
Her pallor I strangely mistrust:
Ah, hasten! -ah, let us not linger!
Ah, fly! -let us fly! -for we must.”
In terror she spoke, letting sink her
Wings until they trailed in the dust -
In agony sobbed, letting sink her
Plumes till they trailed in the dust -
Till they sorrowfully trailed in the dust.

I replied: “This is nothing but dreaming:
Let us on by this tremulous light!
Let us bathe in this crystalline light!
Its Sybilic splendour is beaming
With Hope and in Beauty tonight! -
See! -it flickers up the sky through the night!
Ah, we safely may trust to its gleaming,
And be sure it will lead us aright -
We safely may trust to a gleaming,
That cannot but guide us aright,
Since it flickers up to Heaven through the night.”

Thus I pacified Psyche and kissed her,
And tempted her out of her gloom -
And conquered her scruples and gloom;
And we passed to the end of the vista,
But were stopped by the door of a tomb -
By the door of a legended tomb;
And I said: “What is written, sweet sister,
On the door of this legended tomb?”
She replied: “Ulalume -Ulalume -
‘Tis the vault of thy lost Ulalume!”

Then my heart it grew ashen and sober
As the leaves that were crisped and sere -
As the leaves that were withering and sere;
And I cried: “It was surely October
On this very night of last year
That I journeyed -I journeyed down here! -
That I brought a dread burden down here -
On this night of all nights in the year,
Ah, what demon hath tempted me here?
Well I know, now, this dim lake of Auber -
This misty mid region of Weir -
Well I know, now, this dank tarn of Auber,
This ghoul-haunted woodland of Weir.”

by Dian Yuliasri Quote “a journalist can save more lives than a doctor” itu saya dapat d

by Dian Yuliasri

Quote “a journalist can save more lives than a doctor” itu saya dapat di ICAAP 9 di Bali kemarin. Seorang perempuan.

Instead of writing, this Canadian man, para jurnalisnya selalu menulis dengan, “this Ugandan born man, this Ugandan man.” Gitu…

Adik saya meninggal karenaTBC dua tahun lalu. Dia positif HIV

So, the snow ball is in our hand.

Among the good practices featured in the collection is “Build Bridges, Not Walls”, a Norwegian publication with 97 exercises on human rights, multicultural understanding and peaceful conflict resolution. The exercises, designed for non-formal learning settings such as those involving refugees and immigrants, are already in use in Norway, South-Eastern Europe and Eastern Europe, including conflict areas.

Human rights education is vital for all our societies. “It promotes equality, empowerment and participation as well as conflict prevention and resolution. In brief, it is a means to develop societies where the human rights of all are respected, protected and fulfilled,” said the heads of the four partner organizations in their joint foreword to the collection.

The collection, entitled “Human Rights Education in the School Systems of Europe, Central Asia and North America: A Compendium of Good Practice”, is a joint publication by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE/ODIHR), the Council of Europe (CoE), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Designed for primary and secondary schools, teacher training institutions and other learning settings, the this tool collects good practices of human rights education, education for democratic citizenship, and education for mutual respect and understanding.

It provides resource materials relevant to key elements for successful human rights education, including 1) laws, guidelines and standards; 2) learning environment; 3) teaching and learning tools; 4) professional development for educators, and 5) evaluation.

Cote d’Ivoire is the world’s largest producer and exporter of cocoa beans and a significant producer and exporter of coffee and palm oil. Consequently, the economy is highly sensitive to fluctuations in international prices for these products, and, to a lesser extent, in climatic conditions. Despite government attempts to diversify the economy, it is still heavily dependent on agriculture and related activities, engaging roughly 68% of the population. Since 2006, oil and gas production have become more important engines of economic activity than cocoa.

According to IMF statistics, earnings from oil and refined products were $1.3 billion in 2006, while cocoa-related revenues were $1 billion during the same period. Cote d’Ivoire’s offshore oil and gas production has resulted in substantial crude oil exports and provides sufficient natural gas to fuel electricity exports to Ghana, Togo, Benin, Mali and Burkina Faso.

Once, when I was learning Spanish from a book, I came across the following translation: hace lampara

Once, when I was learning Spanish from a book, I came across the following translation: hace lampara – “it is lightning.” I made a note to myself: Spanish has three existential predicates, to wit a) ser “to be” (essential), b) estar “to be” (transient), c) hacer lampara “to be (lightning).”

But, oh, to be lightning! And yet such a word for such a thing. This word, lightning, is a long word, a word that takes rather longer to say than lightning takes to strike. We could have named it zap! This word, too, has such an intricate arrangement of shapes – that dance of the i’s, g’s, n’s and h and l and t – but none of them are jagged. And it’s such a, well, light word – shortened from lightening, as you may have guessed, and starting off all on the tip of the tongue, with that unavoidable effect of light, for something that might better have been named blam! Oh, the echo of frightening is there, certainly, and one might feel that with it Thor is smite-ening someone for their temerity (say, in going jogging in the thrashing rain). But would not a more perfect word for this thing have been shock?

German has it better: Blitz. And we see what combining power that has: Blitzkrieg. The American equivalent was not lightning war but shock and awe. See? Latin called it fulmen – brought to English as fulminate, which sounds more like smouldering. In French, one may call it éclair – oh, dear, just a little puffy dessert – or foudre, which bears a strong resemblance to an impolite verb suggestive of what lightning will do to you if you don’t get out of the way. The Hebrew word for it – you will like this – is barak. (Hebrew for thunder is not obama, but doesn’t that sound like thunder?) The Mandarin is diàn, which is also used to mean “electric” and the character for which looks a bit like a kite – but the Chinese characterized lightning as coming up from the earth two millennia before Ben Franklin did.

Still, because of its object, this word has quite a presence in our language, showing up in well-known phrases such as white lightning, greased lightning, lightning quick, lightning chess, lightning rod, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Of course, flash, strike, and bolt are often seen next to it, all nice, short, shocking words. And yet lightning can cross a kilometre in about 1/300,000 of a second (and thunder can cross one in about 3 seconds), while Bolt still needs more than 9 seconds to go 100 metres.

Baca Selengkapnya

Your mother was a jewel. I first met her when you and Rob were in pre-school and I taught 3, 4,

Your mother was a jewel. I first met her when you and Rob were in pre-school and I taught 3, 4, & 5 year old kindergarden Sunday school at St. Marks. It was not long after that we both joined Stitch and Bitch. What a ride. Her friendship was unique. She was always available, warm, friendly and welcoming.

When I started to display a photo collection, Shery worked with me on the framing. After a few frames, I just gave her the photos and told her to do what she thought would be best. I was never disappointed. She knew her customers and their tastes. After her accident on Line Ave, I waited until the wave of well-wishers were gone, called her and asked when I could come by and visit. She said “NOW”! I grabbed my car keys and fled to the hospital, sat on her bed and we talked for what seemed like hours. It was as though the accident and discovery of cancer never happened. She could always carry her end of a conversation.

To backtrack, you and Rob were going to school at St. Marks. I elected to send my three to Stoner Hill Lab School. It was a risky, but good decision on my part although the rest of the Stitch group was not so sure. One stitch night your mother asked my opinion regarding the quality of education at SHLS. I told her what I thought, but that she should see for herself. Next thing I knew, you and Rob had joined the enrollment. As I recall, you were not too happy with that decision. I may be wrong. However, I was happy to have your mother standing with me as parents of children at SHLS. I remember the wonderful and colorful hats she wore to PTA meetings because she had lost her hair to chemo.

I remember that, to my fear, she always left the back door unlocked. Anyone could come in the house anytime and we did. There were numerous morning and afternoon chats around the breakfast table in the kitchen, which is where Stitch would love hanging out on nights Shery was the host. And, as I recall, we stitched a collage for your mother as a “get well” and “hang in there” momento from us. I hope that was passed along to you.

Although you may have experienced another side, I never saw your mother without a smile. She endured, even through the pain and frustration of losing her ability to function. God has his plan and I am so grateful that he chose to let her stay with us for as long as she did. Never doubt how proud of you and Rob she was or how much she loved you. She talked about you both whenever she could.

May this reflection and those from others comfort you and wrap you in the love she shared with all of us.

Almost everytime we go to a shop to buy things like clothes or electrodomestics, at the register the

Almost everytime we go to a shop to buy things like clothes or electrodomestics, at the register they start by asking either mine or my wifes Cedula number (ID). Sometimes we are not paying attention and just give it, which leads to the next questions: what is your name, where do you live, phonenumber, email address etc?

The first time this happened to me I did not think about it too much and gave them my information as it was a famous clothing store here (Arturo Calle) and did not worry too much about them using the information wrongly. The second time they asked me somewhere, I just asked them why they needed it and the reply was a simple: “I have no idea”.

The third time a store asked me for all these details, I actually wanted to see what happened if I would refuse to give it. Amazingly in that particular store, they said they could not sell anything to me if I did not give them any information!! I was probably “lucky” and had the only clerk in Colombia that would not just make up a name and address, but anyway, it happened and I left the store semi-mad. From then on I decide that I was going to have a fake name: Oscar Ortiz and my address, phone number and Cedula are very flexible.

Now I don’t want to scare anyone, but most know that in its history Colombia has had a big problem with kidnapping, which luckily has changed a lot in recent years. Besides this there are cases known where people try to find out as much information as they can and they get you involved in their scam. Actually everywhere in the world, people are getting more aware of things like identity and bank fraud, but here it seems nobody is really worried when it comes to this particular situation. In other situations (like over the phone, or when meeting new people) many people are actually extremely cousious here with giving information.

I am not particularly worried of being kidnapped, as I own no more than the couch I am sitting on and the bed I sleep in (which both are very comfortable by the way), but I find it amazing that people are so easy in giving all their information to what basically is a stranger. It even goes so far that on the receipt that you have to sign when you pay something with a debit or credit card, you have to add your ID number and leave your phone number! So now they have your credit card number, a magnetic copy of your card, your signature, your ID number, your name and everything else they would need to clone you or your cards (accept for a picture, but that should not be too hard to fake)

It says on the receipts that the DIAN (government) is obliging everyone to fill in the details correctly and that they might check these receipts to see if you have. Well if they ever want to visit Oscar Ortiz, they can give me a call and I will happily pass and explain to them my objections to this way of dealing with peoples privacy.

Ah no wait!! they don’t have my number!!!hehehe

jd dian mesti kuat hadepin mood kmu,

dian mesti kuat ngikutin ego kamu

dian mesti kuat ngikutin sifat kmu yang kekanak-kanakan

tp dian bkan malaikat yang selalu sabar.

tau yah, baru ditinggal satu malem untuk ga ngusap2 rambut kmu sampai kmu tidur.

kmu dah marah banget, kmu bilang bahwa dian cuek sama kamu. Kmu bilang dian ga bisa temenin kmu lg.

klo toh emang dian cuek, mungkin dian ga akan jemput kamu disekre, mungkin dian langsung balik aja ke kosan, karena badan dah capek , dah seharian dian kerja. klo ga inget kmu lg kerja kelompok dan kmu bwa laptop yang berat dan

takut kmu belum makan. mungkin dian dah tidur dikosan. makannya dian jemput ke sekre sampe bela2 in nunggu, klo ga da gumi yg temenin mungkin dah ngerasa

capet banget mesti nunggu kamu. kmu mesti tau aja yah td siang tuh di kantor capek banget. kmu inget kan dian ga bales YM kmu karena saking sibuknya sampe ga bisa bales ym. alhasil balik dari kmar kmu dian langsung tepar. memang ada kangredi ma gugum. tp mereka langsung pergi ketika dian dateng ke kosan karena mereka besok pagi mesti kerja.

Apalagi klo tiap malem ga ngusap rambut kamu. jujur dian ngerasa senang bisa ngusap2 rambut kamu buat mastiin kmu tertidur nyenyak. tp satu sisi dian ngerasa risi dan cape.

cape nya karna badan dah lemes karna dah kerja seharian, dah ngerasa ngantuk karna dah malem mesti nunggu kamu tidur duluan.

risi nya klo pas pagi2, klo dah bukain pintu kosan kamu kadang ada orang yang liat klo dian baru keluar kamar kmu pagi2 buta. mungkin klo orang yang tau sih gpp. tp klo orang yang pikiran nya sempit, disangka nya dian abis tidur dari kamar kamu semaleman karna liat dian keluar dari kamar kmu dengan muka yang kusut(ga jarang klo bapa kost liat dian pagi2 keluar kamar kmu, mungkin disangka dia dian abis tidur di kamar kamu, padahal dain cuma buka kunci pintu kamar kamu yang dian kunci malem2 karna kmu dah tidur duluan, karna kmu minta di usapin rambut kamu sampe kmu tidur tiap malem)

Ga tau yah, untuk akhir2 dian ngerasa ruang ringkup dian sempit banget. bener2 sempit!!!!!!!!!!

bangun tidur mesti kerja, pulang kerja kelas kuliah menunggu, klo ga da kuliah balik ke kosan. di kosan klo ga ke kamar kmu. pasti kmu marah. di bilang nya dian super sibuk ga ada waktu buat kmu. padahal klo di itung-itung tiap malem klo dikosan kita makan malem. dan dian tidur mesti nunggu kmu tidur duluan

awal dian ngerasa terkekang banget ketika dian main futsal lawan temen kantor indosat jakarta, kmu bilang kmu ga bakalan tidur klo dian belum pulang. Jadinya waktu dah beres maen futsal dian cepet pulang supaya kmu bobo juga dan ga tidur gara2 nunggun dian balik futsal. Padahal yah waktu itu anak jakarta minta temenin dian (karna dian orang bandung) buat cari in tempat makan.

Langsung mood kamu drastis berubah.kamu tiba2 langsung jutek banget Seperti dian dah ngelakuin kesalahan besar(apalagi klo dian selingkuh).

Bulan depan dian dah mulai ngerjain TA dian. Belum ngerjain TA aja kmu bilang dian dah cuek ama kamu. Apalagi dah ngerjain TA,

The Foundation focuses on four critical areas: health security; economic empowerment; leadership development and citizen service; and racial, ethnic and religious reconciliation. The Foundation works principally through partnerships with like-minded individuals, organizations, corporations, and governments, often serving as an incubator for new policies and programs. They have offices located in Harlem, New York City; Boston, Massachusetts; and Little Rock, Arkansas.

Since 2001, the programs at the Foundation have accomplished some great things. Here are just four: 1.4 million people are benefiting from medicines purchased under the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative agreements, representing nearly half of all people living with HIV and on treatment in developing countries. Through the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, the Healthy Schools Program provides nearly 4,000 schools with onsite or online support in all 50 states to help create school environments that promote physical activity and healthy eating. Through the Clinton Climate Initiative, 40 of the world’s largest cities are working with us to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a variety of large scale projects, including building retrofits, public transit improvements, and advanced waste management systems. Since its launch in 2005, Clinton Global Initiative members have made over 1,300 commitments valued at $46 billion, which have already impacted more than 200 million lives in more than 150 countries. Commitments made at the 2008 Annual Meeting are expected to impact almost 160 million people. While we’re proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish, we know that there is more to do. With your support, we can build on this momentum. We hope you’ll take time to explore our initiatives, and we look forward to sharing more updates and good news with you in the future.
