Quem é Christoph Waltz? No fucking idea. Até então. Até conhecer o coronel Landa e toda a sua crueldade, cinismo, inteligência e até senso de humor.

Ele apaga o Brad Pitt, que também não fez feio (é importante frisar).

Portanto, caros leitores, juntem-se a mim: vamos começar hoje nossa campanha para Christoph Waltz como melhor ator no Oscar e Globo de Ouro. Porque no circuito indie e underground (sic) o Coronel Landa já está imortalizado.

Estamos no fim do ano e fico impressionada com a quantidade de casamentos em São Paulo nessa época. Meus sábados tem sido entre pincéis, escovas, sombras e secadores.

Não existe milagre minha gente. Se você curte um cabelão ondulado e solto, pense pelo menos na possibilidade de ele ser meio preso ou um rabo de cavalo. Coque, com esse calor, é a salvação. Não precisa ser nada careta (aliás, abaixo a caretisse). Falo isso em prol da sua beleza e conforto. Pense na possibilidade de outros penteados, outras formas de se sentir tão bonita sem deixar o cabelão solto grudando nas costas (eeeccaa)!!

Você faz um coque e depois “suja” um pouco. Isso quer dizer, puxa umas mexinhas, como se estivesse meio bagunçado, depois “tasca” spray e tá pronta e linda. Dica meninas, esse penteado é SUPER fácil de fazer e fica moderno e bem bacana.

Natalie Portman

Esse coque é bem legal para quem tem franja mais curtinha, porque a tiara ou uma faixa de cabelo enfeita e ajuda a segurar a franjinha.

Você pode deixar todo o cabelo preso ou deixar uns fios solto na frente.

O rabo de cavalo da Drew é mais clássico, até meio retrô. É só fazer uma escova bem feita, deixando as pontas viradas e depois fazer um rabo na altura média da cabeça.

Adoro esses penteados que parecem que não fizeram NADA, mas pode acreditar: fez sim.

Algunos piensan y dicen que Quentin Tarantino es un genio, un fuera de serie, un visionario mas allá de su época, que ha visto muchas películas de serie B, que expresa lo que siente sin tapujos en el cine. Otros podrán pensar que de pequeño tuvo algún problema o alguna tragedia en su infancia, una mala experiencia o algo así, pero lo que no cabe duda es que hace cine del bueno, puede ser más o menos bueno, pero cine que en general gusta.

Con esta “Malditos bastardos” iba con más miedo que ganas, porque sentía pánico a un llamado por mi “Efecto Trencavel” que es igual o más viral que el “efecto 2000” que es aquel que pone por los cielos a una película (desde su punto de vista) y luego es una caca de la vaca desde el mío. Pero bueno… salvando que me gusto más Death Proof, la nueva de Tarantino se lleva el aprobado con más que suficiencia.

La película se sitúa en la Francia ocupada por los nazis y de dos historias entramadas, por un lado la de los malditos bastardos judeoamericanos contra los nazis, y por otro el de una chica judeofrancesa que después de que los nazis mataran a su familia, llega el momento de recibir su dulce venganza.

Además de todo lo mentado arriba, de la genialidad de Tarantino, tenemos que nombrar también el topicazo de las Tarantino Original Motion Picture Soundtrack que se salen de lo buenas que son, y la ambientación de la película, con paisajes más que currados y con una imagen y una fotografía genial, sobre todo en el último tercio de la película, donde discurre como rio abierto la trama de la misma.

Sin duda, como dije arriba, aprobado con mas que suficiencia y con un regustor a buena película que sin lugar a dudas habría merecido los 6 € del cine.

Sometimes I leave a theater and think, “What was the point of that?” It tends mostly to happen with films that dwell in negativity without any obvious message, like There Will Be Blood. That’s a film I still can’t wrap my mind around as far as what it was trying to say.

But I’m not sure wondering about a film’s point is entirely fair. There are plenty of recent movies I’ve loved whose points – or lack thereof – never gave me pause. I can’t say I bothered with wondering about the points of The Bank Job or Zombieland. For these films a good, well-told story is a point unto itself. Heck, straight entertainment is a pretty good point. Maybe expectations are higher for prestige pics and I demand more, but even for these pictures I try to extend the principle that sometimes a story well-told is good enough. Some movies just eschew messages and themes for story, character, style, and atmosphere.

And that takes me to Inglourious Basterds, a film that really seems to eschew message. And if I can pat myself on the back I think I did a good job enjoying it despite it having no point. It’s a good, very enjoyable film with lots of fun, stylistic flourishes. I think what keeps it from being a great film is that it also doesn’t really have a story. There’s an overarching idea of Jewish American soldiers killing Nazis and a French Jew’s revenge plot to take out important Nazis. But instead of telling the whole tale, the film is divided into several vignettes, like Tarantino decided to just skip to the good parts. It seems to me his only real point is to be awesome, which certainly makes for an entertaining film but I think I need a bit more ambition to really love a movie.

The Weinsteins are gearing up for a Best Picture nomination campaign for it. I can’t say I really could get behind the nomination on its merits, but it would be an interesting, outside-the-box type nomination and those are always welcome. With ten nominations it’s hard to imagine a Basterds nod will squeeze out a personal favorite. I’ve also never been a huge Tarantino fan – I like him fine but his films are never a must-watch for me – but he’s undeniably an important and influential modern director with a dearth of Oscar recognition beyond Pulp Fiction (for which he won the Original Screenplay award). I can imagine forty years from now later generations of Oscar watchers wondering how the Academy managed to ignore him so often.

Beyond Best Picture and Tarantino as writer and director, Christoph Waltz seems to be a lock for a Supporting Actor nod for his role as an evil SS commander. That will certainly be well-deserved as Waltz is the primary image that remains in my mind from this film. He’s so deliciously evil, scheming, ad creepy. I’m not sure what else the Weinsteins are aiming for. Melanie Laurent for sure, though who knows whether in Supporting or Lead. Maybe Diane Kruger too? Or Brad Pitt? None would be a bad choice. And along with the film’s intense kick-assery could come some technical recognition (Editing? Score? Art Direction? Costume?).

Anyway, Inglourious Basterds is certainly one of the most distinctive films of the year and an enjoyable and entertaining one at that. I think it’s a testament to Tarantino’s cultural importance (and the Weinsteins’ PR prowess) that it’s even in the discussion for top prizes. But, even if I don’t think it’s in that top echelon of films, it’s hard to argue when something a bit different sneaks into the Academy’s exclusive club.

Inglourious Basterds is a 2009 war film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino.

A Quentin Tarantino movie about WW2, sounds pretty good. The man who loves to toy around and pay homage to movie genres and directors, has brought you such movies as Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and the two Kill Bill movies. Quality entertainment is expected when Tarantino makes a movie. I read about Quentin making a World War 2 movie years ago, and I remember thinking back then how he’s going to pull it off. Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown (although way too long) were quality movies. The Kill Bill movies weren’t, and Death Proof, the grindhouse movie was a fun joyride. I was afraid that Quentin Tarantino would lose all the respect he’s gained as a director if he doesn’t make at least one movie that isn’t more than a bunch of cool dialogue around retro kitsch and violence. Quentin, however, doesn’t seem to mind doing what he does best, and probably hasn’t any intention to please everyone. He thinks that his movies are art, and maybe they are.

In German-occupied France in 1941, Colonel Hans Landa of the SS and SD, nicknamed "The Jew Hunter", has the Jewish Dreyfus family killed, with the exception of teenage Shosanna, whom Landa allows to escape.

When Pulp Fiction came in 1994, it changed everything as we know it. Which is weird, because his movies are basically recycled material. Pulp Fiction was not only a movie, it was a moment. I use it as an aid when I’m trying to figure out what year a movie came out. I know Pulp Fiction was in 94, so it’s easy to figure out whether a movie came out before or after it. Like the Kennedy assassination or 9/11 it left an imprint, only cinematically. I hailed Tarantino as a God, and thought he was making important work. Mind you I was a lot younger back then, but he could have been something more than a trademark for cool and violence. This doesn’t mean that he wont be. He can still become a Scorsese or Kubrick. He has the talent. He is one of the greatest in creating tension and directing actors. The subject matter is just bubblegum.

Four years after her family was murdered, Shosanna (the beautiful Mélanie Laurent) has assumed a new identity and operates a small cinema in Paris.

Inglourious Basterds. This movie was quite a doozie. I saw it for the second time now, and it felt much deeper this time. When I want to embrace and really take in a movie, I do the following (and mind you this is for those really great movies). I lie on the couch with the laptop on my chest in a dark room. The new MacBook has an amazing screen and the movie is crystal clear. I have big headphones that filter out everything else. The only thing I see is the movie inches away from my face. Okay, a foot away from my face. Everything else is dark. That’s the only way you can get through movies like Barry Lyndon and 2001: a Space Odyssey. You not only get through them, but they are magical. You experience the movie in a whole different way when you have everything else that could disturb you filtered out. Anyway back to this movie. The plot is thin. It makes no difference, but it is. The movie opens with a scene that takes about fifteen to twenty minutes I’d say. I didn’t time it, but it was a slow start into the madness that follows. Probably the only way to do it. It wasn’t boring at all, in fact Christoph Waltz gives such a cold blooded performance that he might get an Oscar based on that first scene alone. It was powerful, a jewish family gets killed and so on. Could have tweaked it some more. I wasn’t devastated when the Nazis emptied four machine guns on this family that was hiding under the floorboards. I think it would have been important to establish a really big hatred towards the nazis right from the beginning. Now I’m not saying I don’t hate nazis, but those feelings need to be really big in a movie like this. When you watch Schindler’s List or The Piano, for example, you are praying to be able to get a hold of a machine gun and a nazi to kill. After Schindler’s List a movie like Inglourious Basterds is just what you need. Revenge of the Jews and so on. The problem with Inglourious Basterds was that we really never develop those feelings. There isn’t really any violence committed by nazis in the movie after the opening scene (that could have been more shocking). That’s the biggest problem with the movie. Otherwise it’s a beautiful cinematic experience with the occasional things that really ruin it. Quentin Tarantino doesn’t care about fonts at all. He uses like six different fonts during the opening titles that don’t go with each other at all. That’s ok, that’s Tarantino. It is his choice and he has done it through his career. I get angry when he inserts these ridiculous 70’s… Here is an example. Right in the middle of a movie that could pass as a period film, he does something like this, where he presents a character.

Why did Quentin Tarantino plant this shit in the middle of this beautiful period piece?

Completely idiotic. The movie looked so good and now it’s tainted. Otherwise he did his version of a period piece pretty well. I was worried about the music, and he did exactly as I had been afraid head do. The only difference is that it actually worked pretty well. I guess it just bothers me that a man that you’d think would be the best one to make a period piece, doesn’t give a shit about it and wont even try.

Their mission is to cause panic and havoc within the Third Reich by savagely killing as many German servicemen as possible, including a "take no prisoners" attitude and scalping their victims.

The performances were all great, like in every other Tarantino movie. I was so infatuated by Mélanie Laurent, that I gave the thought of leaving my wife and buying a plane ticket to France some serious consideration. Then there was the violence. There was a lot of it, but I guess I’m immune. I didn’t find it shocking and at times it was almost beautiful. Where does this movie rank amongst his other ones? Right under Pulp Fiction, that’ll be second place, but I want a really great movie from Quentin Tarantino. He has it in him, he just has to hold back a little.
