Es la nueva película del director/escritor/productor Christopher Nolan el cual se ha convertido en uno de los más prestigiados del séptimo arte, con pocas películas pero prácticamente todas exitosas, nada mas acuérdense de las dos de Batman, El Gran Truco y un poco más viejita la de Memento (Amnesia).

Hay mucho velo o poca información, probablemente debido a la propia campaña publicitaria o el supuesto odio de Nolan por la internet, incluso en la página oficial no hay nada, pero se espera un thriller con tintes de ciencia ficción y mucha acción: Una compañía es capaz de meterse y manipular los sueños de la gente, y el set es la arquitectura de la propia mente (interesante no?). No es futurista como Matrix aunque las escenas del tráiler nos la recuerden un poco.

El cast es familiar en sus películas, a excepción de DiCaprio que vendrá de protagonista, Cillian Murphy que fue el espantapájaros en Batman, Michael Caine que lo vimos con su actuación y estilo impecables interpretando a Alfred en Batman, Ken Watanabe como Ra’s al Ghul también en Batman.

La última pelicula de Scorsese es Island Shutter, en ella nos encontramos de nuevo con Leonardo DiCaprio como protagonista.

Shutter Island es una novela escrita en el año 2003 por el prodigioso Dennis Lehna. Este film se basa en esta novela y narra como Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) y su compañero Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo) en una aventura de Marines Estaunidenses son enviados a Boston donse llegan a la institucion mental para criminales peligrosos considerados como violentos y irracionales en búsqueda de una psicopata llamada Rachel Solando.

La investigacion lelva a preguntarse como una mujer se escapa de una carcel de maxima seguridad, desde un 3er piso y descalza. Entre toda esta trama un huracán inpide su salida de la isla y la situación dentro de la propia isla se vuelve un caos, pues muchas cosas estan ocultas y la verdad está alla adentro.

Este es un drama psicologico pues los personajes en encuentra interrogantes descabelladas y pnen al limite sus sentidos cuando se dan cuenta, o creen, que no pueden confiar el uno en el otro. Miles de escenas irracionales aparecen frente a ellos que solo buscarán escapar de aquella isla

Grégoire et Cédric, tous les deux âgés de 20 ans, étaient rapidement passés aux aveux. «Les deux principaux mis en cause, dont l’un est informaticien tandis que l’autre se dit gérant d’une discothèque dans le VIIIe arrondissement parisien, ont expliqué avoir réussi à pénétrer sur ce réseau, explique un proche de l’affaire. Ils ont récupéré des photos de plusieurs personnalités de la jet-set, du monde du cinéma ou de la chanson avant de réclamer un million de dollars aux gérants de ce site pour ne pas les rendre publiques. L’échange devait avoir lieu en France.» Ivanka Trump, Edouard Baer, Massimo Gargia parmi les victimes Le top-model américain Ivanka Trump, fille du milliardaire Donald Trump, et l’acteur Leonardo DiCaprio figuraient au rang des victimes américaines. Côté français, les deux aigrefins étaient parvenus à récupérer des clichés de l’acteur Edouard Baer et du «jet-setter» Massimo Gargia. «Le gérant de boîte de nuit était lui-même membre de ce site, ajoute la même source. Le matériel informatique ayant servi pour pirater la base de données de ASW a été découvert ainsi que des mails détaillant les différentes phases de leur opération.» Les deux commanditaires ont été écroués quelques semaines, puis libérés et placés sous contrôle judiciaire, tout comme DJ Battle. With earth cooling down and global warming has changed to climate change now Al Gore better be prepared to debate the subject and plan on losing money.

, Barrack Hussein Obama, Harry Reid and Al Gore are determined to reduce the life giving air to plants a reduction so hold your breath on this idea. These extremists and their buddies want to ruin industry in America but not in China, Russia and India. These people are calling for a 60 percent reduction in CO₂ emissions. Here is a chart to show that CO₂ has not risen 60 percent in over 50 years. If CO₂ is reduced that far would the plants suffocate on all that O₂?

NOAA put this chart out on CO₂ levels from Mauna Loa indicating rising levels. By the way research shows that active volcanoes toss heavy amounts of carbon dioxide in the air. By the way Mauna Loa is a volcano that is dormant even though it has been venting steam. Her sister volcano on the same island called, Kilauea, has been erupting for many years one would think that this would have strong influence on the testing equipment for carbon dioxide. In other words yes this would indicate a natural rise in carbon dioxide levels in the local region.

This shows how fraudulent their claims are about reducing the CO₂ levels in the world.

Al Gore is in it for the money his house use more energy than most neighborhoods no wonder he needs to make money. In fact the temperature worldwide has been level since 2001.  An advisor for Gore, Stephen Schneider, was an alarmist in 1978 about the upcoming ice age. He was quoted on the show “In Search of…” that because of global pollution that the world was heading into another cool down. It is amazing how he singing a new tune with all the money that Gore is paying him.

Current science czar John Holdren was an alarmist for the coming ice age back in the late70s. He is the one that also believed in forced abortion and neutering of humans. At that time people saw the worst winter hit Buffalo, New York and that was proof that the ice age was upon the earth. Holdren wrote a college text book called “Ecology” on all the things that man should do including going back to using out houses.

Well now that science has proven that the earth is cycling again maybe one should call China, Russia and India into cleaning up their smokestacks. America should go back to building efficient nuclear power plants. Instead Obama and his elitist extremists want to play Don Quixote and slay the energy problems with windmills.

Obama better keep his hands off the environment arguments because the people who are advising him are even confused about the possibilities of the earth’s climate. One thing is for sure man cannot control nature but nature can control mankind.

بداية وللأسف لاحظت انه الصورة مو وايدسكرين .. أعرف انها أشياء بسيطة لكن لما تتكلم عن صورة بروعة آفيتور من “كاميرا سكورسيزي” وقتها تتمنى انك تعيش التجربة الكاملة زي ما المخرج يبغاك تشوفها .. وأي شي صغير ممكن يخرب جو الفيلم عليك

وبما إني أخذت الفيلم “على البركة” وما أعرف منه الا الغلاف وماعندي أي خلفيه مسبقة عنه .. فكان ظهور إسم سكورسيزي لوحده على الشاشه كافي إنه يصدمني .. فما بالك بظهور كيت بلانشيت ؟
برأيي انه كل عناصر الفيلم الناجح موجوده بالسطر اللي فوق .. بالإضافة لوجود ديكابريو في دور البطولة

عنصر آخر في الفيلم صدمني .. انا لما أخذت الفيلم من على الرف توقعته فيلم حرب “آخر” .. ديكابريو يروح يحارب وفي آخر الفيلم يرجع لـ العاشقة اللي تنتظره
وأعتقد انه لـ هذا السبب انتظرت كل هذه السنين عشان أعطي الفيلم فرصه

Can’t wait for this as I’m currently reading the book by Dennis Lehane (great so far; I’m almost to the end of Act 2B, in script terms.)

Btw, Lehane’s narrative is split into 4 perfect acts — Story Map, anyone?

The only problem is we’re going to have to wait until 2010 to see it.  Paramount pushed the release back from its initial December slot because they claimed they couldn’t afford the $75 million it would take to properly market it as an Oscar contender.

Two questions:

1) Whatchu talkin’ bout, Willis?!

2) Why the frick does it take $75 mil to make the academy aware of a movie that has an amazing Oscar pedigree?

According to Variety, Leonardo DiCaprio will be starring in The Deep Blue Goodbye for 20th Century Fox. The film will be an adaptation of the John D. MacDonald mystery novel series. Apparantly Robert Downey Jr was once circling the project but he then got wrapped up in Sherlock Holmes.

Producing the project are Peter Chernin, Appian Way’s DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran. The script was written by Dana Stevens. No director is yet attached.

DiCaprio will play Travis McGee. McGee is a self-described beach bum who won his houseboat in a card game. He’s also a knight errant who’s wary of credit cards, retirement benefits, political parties, mortgages, and television. He only works when his cash runs out and his rule is simple: he’ll help you find whatever was taken from you, as long as he can keep half. McGee doesn’t even declare himself a detective, but rather a “salvage expert.”

The Deep Blue Goodbye is the first in the 21-volume bestselling Travis McGee series. It originally came out in 1964. Previously the character has been played by Sam Elliott and Rod Taylor (The Birds, The Time Machine and he was also Winston Churchill in Inglourious Basterds).

The character sounds really good and nothing like a bit of noir set in the sunshine. I’ve not read any of the books but I think I may well pick one up.

Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, two of the screenwriters on Iron Man, are working on a live-action adaptation of Japenese anime Akira.  Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way is still producing for Warner Bros, though no word on whether they’re considering the double feature announced in February 2008.

Since the press release, there has been very little news of the continued project after a seven figure deal with Katsuhiro Otomo, the manga series author, original anime director, and now executive producer.  One report a few months ago even declared it “dead as a doornail,” at least in its previous form.

The update comes from Collider, who confirmed the setting is still post-apocalyptic Manhattan in “the near future” (the previous film was in 2019).  It will definitely include the famous motorcycle and a teen biker gang member subjected to government experimentation.

The article says WB is planning an “event movie” and will make this a priority financially and logistically sometime in 2010 for a possible 2011 release.  Ruirai Robinson was originally set to make his directorial debut, but I don’t know if that’s still the case.  No casting has been decided either, so rumors of DiCaprio or Joseph Gordon-Levitt co-starring in anything but Inception are false.

Fergus and Ostby have also been tapped to write Cowboys and Aliens for Robert Downey Jr. and possibly director Jon Favreau.  The team also contributed to Children of Men

Todd McFarlane has officially begun penning a new screenplay that he has had in the back of his head for several years, for a new Spawn film. The original film was released in 1997 and made $87.8 million, starring Michael Jai White, John Leguizamo, and Martin Sheen.

The new film is aimed at a more adult audience and will be R-rated. Focusing more on detectives Sam and Twitch in their hunt for the Spawn. McFarlane has said that it will feel more like The Departed in tone, and even hopes that Leonardo DiCaprio would star. I’m actually really looking forward to this and think that it could be one hell of an awesome movie. We’ll just have to see what goes.

Catherine Hardwicke has signed on to direct The Girl With the Red Riding Hood for Appian Way and Warner Bros. The gothic reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood was announced earlier this month, with Orphan screenwriter David Leslie Johnson attached to pen the script.

Not much is known about the new take, other than it will be loosely based on the famous fairy tale, is being described as a werewolf movie, and has a teenage love triangle at its center. Hardwicke is a perfect choice for this project as her filmmaking career thus far has been filled with teenage stories with female leads. She broke onto the directing scene with the Sundance indie Thirteen (starring Evan Rachel Wood), and has since directed The Nativity Story (starring Keisha Castle-Hughes as Mary) and, of course, Twilight (starring Kristen Stewart). She also directed the 2005 film Lords of Dogtown.

The story has changed many times over the years, and is best known in the Brothers Grimm variant. But earlier versions were much darker, the earliest printed version from the 17th century ended with Riding Hood being slaughtered by the wolf. Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia:

“The story had as its subject an “attractive, well-bred young lady”, a village girl of the country being deceived into giving a wolf she encountered the information he needed to find her grandmother’s house successfully and eat the old woman while at the same time avoiding being noticed by woodcutters working in the nearby forest. Then he proceeded to lay a trap for the Red Riding Hood. The latter ends up eaten by the wolf and there the story ends. The wolf emerges the victor of the encounter and there is no happy ending.”

It is unclear which version of the classic tale the Gothic reimagining will take influence from, but one could imagine it might be the older tellings. Hollywood could give a “Gothic reimagining” spin to any of the classic fairy tales and I would be interested. I’m actually kinda disappointed that Disney jumped on Alice in Wonderland, as I was hoping that one of the dark Alice projects would have gone into production.

But don’t expect to see this film on the big screen any time soon, or ever. Appian Way seems to announce a new project in development each month (I might be slightly exaggerating for dramatic effect). IMDb Pro lists 22 upcoming properties in pre-production, but the company turns out an average of one film per year. So, unless things dramatically pick up, chances are we’ll never see this project on the big screen. Appian has a list a mile long of promising projects in development, including: Akira, Atari, Aquaman, Conspiracy of Fools, Ninja Scroll, and a couple projects with both Dicaprio and Martin Scorsese attached. Hardwicke is also attached to an adaptation of Hamlet for Overture 21 Jump Street, and Maxium Ride at Sony.

The new Martin Scorsese film Shutter Island is going to be amazing! All you have to do is watch the trailer to know it’s gonna be a blockbuster. Plus, it’s got Leonardo DiCaprio, Michelle Williams, and Mark Ruffalo in it. When I watch the trailer I get goosebumps from the suspense. It just looks like one of those thrillers that is gonna keep the viewers on the edge of their seats. Here’s five reasons why I think you should see this movie when it opens on February 19th:

1. It’s a Martin Scorsese film

2. Leonardo DiCaprio stars in it

3. The asylum looks insanely scary and creepy

4. It’s a thriller and will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat and

5. Did I mention, it’s a Martin Scorsese film!

When October rolls around, don’t forget this film! This movie looks like it’s an insanely thrilling roller coaster ride of a movie with suspense lurking around every corner. Not to mention, the acting in this film is probably phenomenal. Although, I might be slightly biased because I am a huge Leonardo DiCaprio fan. Besides, look on the bright side, it’ll give you something to do on a Friday or Saturday night, so get out there and see this film when it hits theaters on February 19th. Enjoy!

Martin Scorsese does a horror picture and it looks pretty good. No gangsters, but we still get a deep dish serving of Leonardo DiCaprio’s Boston accent and a creepy Sir Ben Kingsley. The trailer looks promising. The whole thing is based on a novel written by Dennis Lehane (Mystic River) and should be pretty good. (This is the point where I drop the fact that I’ve met the author.)

Also: a preview for The Burden is up and once we get word from the 48 Hour Film Project we’ll put the whole thing up. I’m excited about this, the entire project was like making a haunted house. There’s something very satisfying in playing with things we fear and trying to illicit a response from the audience. Hopefully we did well.

Paciente 67

O filme é baseado em um livro do escritor Dennis Lehane, “Paciente 67”. Para começar sem deixar dúvidas de que a escolha é boa, o diretor é o conceituado e experiente, Martin Scorsese (Os Infiltrados, O Aviador, Taxi Driver, entre outros), que, mais uma vez, terá como ator principal o galã Leonardo DiCaprio. Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Emily Mortimer, Michelle Williams também integram o elenco do longa.

O filme de Martin Scorsese mostra a história de dois agentes federais que são encarregados de investigar o desaparecimento de uma perigosa assassina que estava hospitalizada. Shutter Island é o provável paradeiro da maníaca. Lá, os agentes se envolvem em uma rede de intrigas e acabam ficando presos no local. A história é passada em 1954.

Ao que parece, suspense não vai faltar em Paciente 67. Para os que gostam do gênero, fica a dica. Quem quiser dar uma olhada no trailer:

Bastardos Inglórios

Quando soube que ia estrear um novo filme de Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Ficton, Cães de Aluguel, entre outros) já fui correndo saber sobre o que seria. Vi que o tema era sobre uma parte da Segunda Guerra Mundial e gostei. Pesquisei mais e descobri que o ator principal era Brad Pitt que, além de galã de Holywood (o que não me interessa em absolutamente nada), também é um excelente ator. Gostei mais ainda. Essa dupla, Tarantino e Brad Pitt, com certeza vai dar o que falar em Bastardos Inglórios. Não duvido nada que vença algumas estatuetas do Oscar.

Assim como em Pulp Ficton – filme épico da década de 1990 – o novo longa de Quentin Tarantino vai mostrar histórias diferentes que acabam se cruzando no meio do filme. O enredo principal é a organização de um grupo de soldados judeus para tentar lutar contra os nazistas, feita pelo tenente Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial.

Certamente, Bastardos Inglórios vai mostrar muita ação e surpresas, características dos filmes de Tarantino. Para os que gostam de dar uma apreciada antes de assistir, aí está o trailer:

Bem, eu tinha prometido falar sobre os cinco filmes hoje. No entanto, para a leitura de vocês não ficar muito cansativa e não deixar de falar nada do que eu queria, os outros três longas eu falo na minha próxima postagem no Papo Cult, dia 2 de Setembro. Beleza?

OK. I just finished this book and I can honestly say it scared the living daylights out of me, and if I ever go to Thailand (seems actually quite imminent as my brother is marrying a girl from there) I will be going nowhere near the Gulf of Thailand, and I will certainly not be visiting any marine parks. I might even avoid the Khao San Road, just in case.

Before I launch into my complicated retelling of everything in the book I loved and hated, I must first say that the movie is a completely inaccurate summary of the novel. They eliminate an entire character, who is pivotal to the story. And they throw in a few completely unnecessary sex scenes that don’t occur in the book.

Anyway. The book begins in a fairly acceptable manner, and it seems legit. Everything makes sense and it seems like something an ex-backpacker could actually have written. In fact, it seems legit up until well past the point where the group actually arrive on the Beach, give or take a suicide and some crazy dreams which inform the narrator of things he wouldn’t have known otherwise.

No. The book enters into serious surrealism around the point that [SPOILERS AHEAD] Richard, narrator, is asked to ‘take care of’ a crazy Swede named Karl, who has been rendered insane through watching his two friends be mutilated in a shark attack. The book reaches the absolute peak of it’s peculiarity near the end, though, when one scene sees, firstly, several rigor-mortified corpses being deposited in the camp, and secondly, the [completely twisted] beach community taking to them with knives and dismembering them.

It’s basically Lord of the Flies, but with grown-ups and weed, and though it terrified me, I loved it. The concept is phenomenal, the characters are richly illustrated, the set-up makes you wish you could live in a similar community, and as I mentioned before, you believe it could be true right up until the end.

Probably the height of terrifying is the shark attack on the three Swedes (Sten, Christo and Karl, who seem like lovely chaps) which prevented me from sleeping for several hours after I forced myself to put the book away. It’s not made easier to handle by the fact that Richard tells you they’re about to get into trouble, but kindly leaves out details.

Anyway. READ IT. You … may well regret it, but it’s an achievement to have read and you will certainly enjoy it. It’s also relatively recent (only 1996) and so there are several pop culture references in there that even I (and I am rather young) understood. Lovely.
