<p>El año pasado, <em>Die Fälscher</em> de <em>Stefan Ruzowitzky</em> ganó Oscar como mejor peli extranjera. Nunca la trajeron formalmente a cartelera y sólo hasta hoy puedo verla a través de Cinemax. No se si es que no es buen negocio pero si no hagan que lo sea para que lo sea, es imposible que en Bogotá no haya gente interesada en ver este tipo de pelis en salas de cine.</p>
<p>No digo que sea la mejor peli del mundo, ¿quién puede decir eso de cualquier peli? Sin embargo el público bogotano se merece respeto y que las pelis que han ganado premios de La Academia casi que deberían ser obligatorias, es el respeto al cine comercial, al que están acostumbrados a traer, el que les encanta, simplemente privarnos de ese material es un improperio.</p>
<p><em>Die Fälscher</em> es la receta perfecta para que una peli se gane un Oscar, melodrama del holocausto, los alemanes como bestias sedientas de horror, de indiferencia, de masoquismo, de tortura. Un antihéroe interpretado perfectamente por <em>Karl Markovics</em>, un testigo, <em>August Diehl</em> a quien recordamos por los basterdos de <em>Tarantino</em> y que aquí cuenta la historia. Finalmente, entrelíneas se nombra a Estados Unidos como redentor de ese oscuro episodio de la humanidad. Mézclese bien, no se revuelva y ese martini seguro levanta la estatuilla más codiciada en <em>Hollywood</em>.</p>
<p>Pero esta peli tiene más. La fotografía y cinematografía de <em>Benedict Neuenfels</em> desarrolla con cámaras montadas al hombro, sin tripodes, sin grúas, la sensación de un ascetismo formidable y ambientan con luces suaves los dormitorios de cinco estrellas de estos personajes. </p>
<p>La música es realmente conmovedora, y estuvo a cargo de <em>Marius Ruhland</em> con unos tangos y unas milongas y quien sabe que más piezas germano-argentinas cantadas al calor de un piano y un bandoneón. </p>
<p>La culpa y la conciencia vestidas elegantemente con oro y linos en Mónaco contrastan con los vestidos de lana artesanales que sin embargo eran los más distinguidos dentro de todo el campo de concentración.</p>
<p>Todo reúnido en un buen plato hacen de <em>Ruzowitzky</em> un buen director y una buena peli. Lástima no haberla visto en cine. Repito.</p>

<p>“E’ uno dei lavori più vitali e spiazzanti che il cinema abbia dedicato alla Shoah” (Il Messaggero, 25 Gennaio 2008),  “&#8230;un noir storico lineare ma appassionante” (Rolling Stone, Novembre 2007), “Poco noto, l&#8217;episodio reale cui si rifà è di per sé appassionante; il bel cast, la sceneggiatura senza vuoti e l&#8217;efficace regia contribuiscono a sottolinearlo” (Repubblica, 25 Gennaio 2008)… Numerosi i giudizi positivi&#8230; con cui non mi trovo d’accordo.</p>

<p>Premiato con l&#8217;<a href="http://leogrini.altervista.org/globeacademy/page4.html" target="_blank">Oscar</a>, presentato con successo (e con polemiche) al <a href="http://leogrini.altervista.org/berlinale/index.html" target="_blank">Festival di Berlino</a> un paio d’anni fa, osannato dalla critica, <em><strong>Il Falsario</strong></em> ha il merito di raccontare una storia (vera) poco nota e certamente interessante (un gruppo di ebrei viene internato nel lager di Sachsenhausen con il compito di falsificare valuta inglese e americana).</p>
<p>Sarà che film su nazisti e campi di concentramento ne abbiamo visti tanti (“Ogni anno la Berlinale offre film di produzione germanica che tornano ad affrontare il nodo del nazismo. Non è forse ora che il cinema tedesco e quello austriaco tornino a guardare avanti liberandosi di quello che sta ormai diventando un senso di colpa che le nuove generazioni non possono addossarsi per l&#8217;eternità…”, <a href="http://www.mymovies.it/dizionario/recensione.asp?id=46807" target="_blank">Giancarlo Zappoli</a>), ma ci sembra che questo non aggiunga nulla di nuovo (ricorrendo al solito cliché &#8220;tutti i buoni da una parte tutti i cattivi dall&#8217;altra&#8221;). Un lavoro in cui regia sceneggiatura attori non riescono, a mio parere, ad emozionare e coinvolgere.</p>
<p>Il tema centrale dovrebbe essere le contraddizioni le paure i conflitti&#8230; di chi si mette al servizio del nemico per aver salva la vita, i sensi di colpa nei riguardi di chi non gode gli stessi privilegi e dei compagni che non si riesce a proteggere. Ma tutto questo non traspare nel film.<br />
Ogni singolo personaggio è monolitico, senza sfaccettature… il che lo rende poco credibile: un emblema, un simbolo ma non un essere umano in cui ci si possa identificare. Si stenta ad appassionarsi alla vicenda narrata, si scivola a volte nella noia.</p>
<p>Da lodare tecnicamente (buoni le riprese con macchina a spalla, l&#8217;utilizzo del teleobiettivo, la fotografia livida, la forte accentuazione del chiaroscuro nelle immagini) il film (a cui è da rimproverare un eccesso di musiche non sempre usate a proposito) è diretto da <strong>Stefan Ruzowitzky</strong>, regista viennese piuttosto eclettico (al suo attivo documentari, video musicali, melodrammi, horror…).</p>

<p>Trama:<br />
Berlino, 1936. Sorowitsch è un abile falsario, gigolò e giocatore d&#8217;azzardo di successo. Un giorno però la sua fortuna viene meno, viene arrestato e portato nel campo di concentramento di Mauthausen. Otto anni dopo, Sorowitsch viene trasferito nel campo di Sachsenhausen e qui ritrova il sovrintendente Herzog, responsabile del suo arresto, che lo ha scelto appositamente insieme ad un gruppo di abili truffatori e falsari per stampare un&#8217;elevatissima somma di denaro falso, così da rimpinguare le casse dello stato ed avere i fondi necessari a portare avanti il conflitto bellico…</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p><span><span><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0813547/" target="_blank"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-142" title="the-counterfeiters" src="http://sweetandsauer.wordpress.com/files/2009/06/the-counterfeiters.jpg?w=112" alt="the-counterfeiters" width="112" height="150" />The Counterfeiters</a> is a well-acted, compelling film that succeeds in its even handed approach at storytelling.  The film takes a topic covered extensively in film (the Holocaust) and presents it with a seemingly appropriate mix of emotion and reason.  One can easily tell that this film was not made by Americans as it does little to pull heart strings or paint things in black and white.  Sometimes the greatest emotions, the deepest passions, are seen in restraint . . . in a clenched jaw and an intensity in the eyes.  Bravo to the director and actors for not letting this film slip into sentimentality and for telling it straight and true no matter how heart-breaking the tale to tell. </span></span></p>

<p>- <strong>The Illusionist </strong>(***1/2): &#8216;The Prestige&#8217;, die andere tovenaarsfilm die ongeveer tegelijk in de zalen verscheen (met een rol voor David Bowie), heb ik destijds in de bioscoop gezien. Deze nu voor het eerst. The Illusionist heeft een sterk (liefdes)verhaal in een verbluffend weergegeven historische setting (Oostenrijk-Hongarije, begin 20e eeuw). Mooi.<br />
- <strong>The Crow</strong> (**1/2): kan het nog donkerder dan dit? Eric Draven &#8211; niet te verwarren met <a href="www.myspace.com/eric_craven514" target="_blank">Eric Craven</a> &#8211; komt terug uit de dood en wil wraak op de moordenaars van hem en zijn vriendin. En toch geen goedkope zombiefilm!<br />
- <strong>New York Doll</strong> (***1/2): documentaire over het schrijnende leven van Arthur &#8216;Killer&#8217; Kane, (ex-)bassist van The New York Dolls. Had ik dit eerder gezien, ik was zeker naar hun optreden in Handelsbeurs geweest, twee jaar geleden, al was Kane er toen niet meer bij. Kwadratuur had toen zelfs een <a href="http://www.kwadratuur.be/nieuws.php?id=290" target="_blank">interview</a> met gitarist Sylvain Sylvain.<br />
- <strong>Troy</strong> (***): de Ilias meets Hollywood. Vermakelijk. Heeft zijn goede punten, al zijn Orlando en Diane daar geen van.<br />
- <strong>Elizabeth: The Golden Age</strong> (***): interessante periode, al is deze film maar los gebaseerd op hoe het er echt aan toe ging (wat ik ook maar weet dankzij <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_The_Golden_Age" target="_blank">Wikipedia</a>). Sterke decors, wat wel noodzakelijk is voor zo&#8217;n film uiteraard. Heb de eerste nog niet gezien. Er komt nog een derde.<br />
- <strong>El Laberinto del Fauno</strong> (****): menselijkheid, onmenselijkheid en donkere fantasiewereld in fascistisch Spanje. Sterk.<br />
- <strong>Die Fälscher</strong> (****): morele dilemma&#8217;s in een concentratiekamp. Joden helpen de nazi&#8217;s de Britse (en Amerikaanse) economie te ondermijnen. Hard.<br />
- <strong>The Idiots</strong> (***): de 2e Dogma &#8216;95 film. Mensen doen zich voor als mentaal gestoorden om de idioot in zichzelf los te maken. Weet niet goed of ik dit goed of slecht moet vinden. Controversieel ontvangen uiteraard.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Os Falsários</strong> (<strong>Die Fälsche</strong>r): Filme bom como eu não via há muito tempo. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salomon_Smolianoff" target="_blank">Sally Sorowitsch</a>, o protagonista, é um artista especialista na arte de falsificar. Seu azar é viver na Alemanha em 1939, onde é preso e mandando para um campo de concentração. Mas Sally é uma raposa velha e consegue usar seu talento para arte como trunfo, agradando oficiais com murais e pinturas de temas nazistas. Em 1945 ele é enviado para um outro campo, onde outros artistas e profissionais judeus se reúnem sob o comando da SS para forjar dinheiro e passaportes em larga escala. Atuação fina, roteiro decente, fotografia ótima. Podem assistir.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>O Leitor (The Reader)</strong>: Tenho preguiça letal de noventa por cento dos filmes de drama que assisti &#8211; especialmente uma obviedade como <strong>Closer</strong>. Fui ver <strong>O Leitor</strong> meio sem saber do que se tratava e gostei. Enfim, enquanto muita gente criticou o filme por achá-lo meio inverossímil ou por, acreditem, fazer parte de <a href="http://newsblaze.com/story/20090201155914kamw.nb/topstory.html" target="_blank">uma conspiração de pedófilos negadores do Holocausto</a>, eu achei interessante. Os tipos de tragédia, de indecisão e paralisia retratados em <strong>O Leitor </strong>não são exatamente factuais. Talvez o filme pareça melhor se eles forem entendidos como metáforas.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Australia</strong>: Não sei exatamente o que dizer de <strong>Australia</strong>. O filme trabalha alguns clichês de maneira divertida, o que é um ponto a favor. Se ele fosse só isso seria algo como um <strong>A Múmia</strong> melhorado, mas infelizmente a parte &#8220;dramática&#8221; é um pé no saco e tira toda a diversão meio <em>pulp</em> da história. O mundo não precisa de outro <strong>E o Vento Levou</strong>, então só assista se você não tiver nada melhor pra fazer.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Deixe Ela Entrar</strong> (<strong>Låt den rätte komma in</strong>): Um filme que tematiza vampiros de maneira sutil e elegante é raro. É bom encontrar algo interessante em meios a poços de tédio como <strong>Crepúsculo</strong> ou <strong>Anjos da Noite</strong> &#8211; últimos grandes expoentes do gênero. <strong>Deixe Ela Entrar</strong> é uma mistura bizarra de carinho inocente e ultraviolência, entre ambições infantis e poderes eternos. É provavelmente um dos melhores filmes de vampiro já feito. Assista, já.</p>

<p><span style="font-family:VERDANA,ARIAL,HELVETICA;">Nach dem ausführlichen und genauen Abwägen der Für und Wieder komme ich zu dem Schluß, daß ich tatsächlich wenigstens einen Tag meines Lebens gerne die Freundin von August Diehl wäre.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family:VERDANA,ARIAL,HELVETICA;">Er ist schon toll, da wollen wir mal ganz ehrlich sein. Dann bringt es wohl auch nichts, mich gegen dieses Gefühl, wenigstens einen Tag meines Lebens seine Freundin sein zu wollen, zu wehren.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:VERDANA,ARIAL,HELVETICA;">Ich frage mich ja, wie seine Frau ihn nennt. Wir sagen immer &#8216;August Diehl&#8217; in einem Zug durch, aber ich wette, seine Frau, seine Familie und seine Freunde nennen ihn &#8216;August&#8217;. August ist irgendwie ein komischer Name, findest Du nicht? Ich muß immer an das Lied denken, &#8220;Oh, du lieber Augustin&#8221; und ich wette, ich bin nicht die Einzige und ich wette auch, daß August Diehl dieses Lied nicht mehr hören kann. Noch krasser finde ich es ja eigentlich bei Heino Ferch. Der Mann heißt Heino&#8230; sein Vorname ist Heino, verstehst Du?! Heino. Sagt man &#8216;Heino&#8217;, klingt es komisch. Sagt man &#8216;Heino Ferch&#8217;, klingt es nicht halb so komisch.<br />

<p><span style="font-family:VERDANA,ARIAL,HELVETICA;">Aber ich lenke ab. Was können die Herren dafür, daß sie nicht auch Namen haben, die modern klingen, die Kraft und Intelligenz ausstrahlen, die vor Esprit nur so sprühen&#8230; so wie Marta halt.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:VERDANA,ARIAL,HELVETICA;">Wie dem auch sei. August Diehl ist toll. Ich wünschte, er würde nur Filme wie <em>Slumming</em> und <em>Was nützt die Liebe in Gedanken</em> drehen (wobei ich sehr gut auf den Brühl verzichten kann). Wie er selber schon mal gesagt hat, <a href="http://www.die-agenten.de/actors/press_actors.php?job=actor&#38;id_actor=16">sein Gesicht wirkt immer sehr ernst</a>, von daher paßt er nicht in jeden Film. Er hat so ein Kunstfilmgesicht. Ich wünschte nur, die meisten Kunstfilme wären nicht so prätentiös. Man soll sie immer gut finden, auch wenn sie es einfach nicht sind. Nicht, daß alle schlecht wären, aber wie bei Blockbustern gibt es nur wenige wirkliche Perlen. Ach, was bin ich wieder philosophisch.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:VERDANA,ARIAL,HELVETICA;">Kennst Du die unsägliche Sendung mit dem Namen <em>Gero von Boehm begegnet&#8230;</em>? Eines schönen Tages ist <a href="http://www.3sat.de/3sat.php?http://www.3sat.de/begegnungen/gvb/115979/index.html">Gero von Boehm auch August Diehl begegnet</a> und hat es geschafft, daß August Diehl unerträglich gewirkt hat. Meinst Du, er ist so? Nein! August Diehl ist bestimmt ein sehr lustiger und sympathischer Mensch. Die Fragen an ihn waren einfach nur so albern, daß er nur merkwürdige Antworten geben konnte. Am schlimmsten war es, als Herr von Boehm gefragt hat, wie es mit dem Tod steht.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family:VERDANA,ARIAL,HELVETICA;">Kein Witz, dieser Satz ist genauso gefallen. Ich denke, er sollte heißen, daß August Diehl in jedem seiner Filme stirbt, was aber nicht der Fall ist, wenn man sich mit seinen Sachen auseinandergesetzt hat &#8211; wenn er aber stirbt, dann stirbt er immer schön. Ich weiß nicht mehr genau, wie der Wortlaut des folgenden Satzes war, aber Herr von Boehm wollte wissen, ob der Tod denn auch im Leben von August Diehl eine Rolle spielt. Er hat &#8211; etwas ausschweifender &#8211; geantwortet, &#8220;Ja&#8221;. Darauf folgte:</span></p>

Eigentlich nur, in dem man sich selbst zum Idioten macht. Der Mann ist über 30, der Mann ist verheiratet und der Mann dürfte nicht schlecht verdienen, da ist es doch klar, daß er sich schon mal Gedanken gemacht hat, was ist, wenn Gevatter Tod anklopft. Es gibt also keinen Grund, seiner Aussage einen tieferen Sinn, eine weitere, komplexere Ebene zu geben, wenn da einfach nichts ist.<br />

<p><span style="font-family:VERDANA,ARIAL,HELVETICA;">Wie dem auch sei, Du kennst meinen Wunsch und wer weiß, wer weiß, vielleicht kann ich Dir ja eines Tages schreiben, daß ich wenigstens für einen Tag meines Lebens die Freundin von August Diehl war.</span></p>

<p>Der österreichische Film verdreifacht 2008 den Marktanteil &#8211; das ist die Tatsache, und so heißt auch ein Artikel auf <a href="http://www.oe24.at/kultur/Oesterreichischer_Film_verdreifacht_Marktanteil_404265.ece">oe24.at</a>.</p>
<p>Na, da freut sich mein österreichisches Herz!</p>
<p>Erlaubt mir &#8216;die Schuldigen&#8217; an diesem Erfolg aufzulisten:</p>
<p>1. Die Fälscher &#8211; 188.541 Besucher<br />
2. Falco &#8211; Verdammt, wir leben noch &#8211; 154.677 Besucher<br />
3. Let&#8217;s Make Money &#8211; 127.015 Besucher<br />
4. Nordwand &#8211; 83.865 Besucher<br />
5. La Boheme &#8211; 31.984 Besucher</p>
<p>Ohne den Oscarerfolg hätte es ziemlich dürftig ausgeschaut, findet ihr nicht? Aber auch so nicht besonders berauschend. Zum Vergleich &#8211; der Film &#8220;Keinohrhasen&#8221; (made in Germany),  hatte heuer 322.476 Besucher, und das ohne Oscar und mit Til Schweiger in der Hauptrolle! Ich finde es echt schade, dass der Film mehr Aufmerksamkeit als &#8220;Die Fälscher&#8221; bekommen hat, aber naja, kann man nichts machen&#8230; außer hier in meinem Blog ein paar frustrierte Zeilen darüber schreiben <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /><br />

  	In dem Buch <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aktion_Bernhard">&#8216;Des Teufels Werkstatt&#8217;</a> schildert Adolf Burger die größte Fälscheraktion in der Geschichte. Burger selbst war einer der Fälscher im <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/KZ_Sachsenhausen">KZ Sachenhausen</a>, die für<a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationalsozialismus"> die Nazis</a> in einer streng geheimen Aktion Unmengen an Falschgeld herstellten. Der gelernte Drucker hat in der Slowakei zwischen 1939 und 1942 Taufscheine gefälscht und damit vielen, die auf Grund der unmenschlichen &#8216;Rassegesetze&#8217; der Nazis deportiert worden wären, das Leben gerettet.<br />

Elisabeth Scharang</a> hat <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Burger">Adolf Burger</a> bei der <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_F%C3%A4lscher">Oscar-Verleihung in Hollywood</a> kennen gelernt und für ein langes Gespräch in seiner Heimatstadt Prag besucht, wo Burger seit 1946 wohnt. Das kleine Haus am Rande von Prag ist auch ein Archiv für Fotos und Originalakten, die Adolf Burger im Lauf der Jahre gesammelt hat. Seine erste Handlung, als er 1945 von den Amerikanern aus dem KZ befreit wurde, war, in das angrenzende Dorf zu laufen, sich eine Kamera zu besorgen und das Grauen zu dokumentieren.</p>
<p>In dem zweistündigen Gespräch erzählt Burger über den Preis des Überlebens, über den <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisemitismus">Antisemitismus</a> in der <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kommunistische_Partei">Kommunistischen Partei </a>während der 50er Jahre in Prag, über die samtene Revolution 1989 und warum er mit seinen Kindern nie über das in den <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/KZ">KZ</a>s Erlebte gesprochen hat.<br />

I lördags var det &#8220;Rendition&#8221; om en egyptisk-amerikansk kemist som av CIA likt de två svensk-egyptierna blir förd till &#8220;förhör&#8221; mot alla lagar, regler och konventioner, även om CIA med skohorn gärna vill hävda den goda saken.</span></p>
<p><a href="http://adiewunde.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/hitler.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2240" title="hitler" src="http://adiewunde.wordpress.com/files/2008/11/hitler.jpg?w=116" alt="hitler" width="116" height="96" /></a><span style="color:#800000;">Den andra filmen var också kopplad till Egypten, och finns nämnd <a href="http://adiewunde.wordpress.com/2008/11/15/allt-vackert-paminner-om/">här</a> i min blog, och den tredje i (söndags morse) var ytterligare ett bidrag ur den nya trevliga tyska vågen av vettiga filmer: &#8220;Die Fälscher&#8221; om hur Hitlers kabinett utnyttjad konstnärer, bankirer och tryckare för att tillverka utländsk valuta (pund och dollar) allt under den förhärdade cynisk yrkesförbrytaren och mäster-förfalskaren Salomon &#8220;Sally&#8221; Sorowitsch (spelad av Karl Markovics).</span></p>
<p><a href="http://adiewunde.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/timebomb21.gif"><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2247" title="timebomb21" src="http://adiewunde.wordpress.com/files/2008/11/timebomb21.gif?w=55" alt="timebomb21" width="55" height="96" /></a><span style="color:#000080;">Tre filmer, alltså, som tar upp den politiska osämjan och misstänksamheten, men också hur man kan hitta mänsklig värdighet när man samtidigt är helt utlämnad åt sitt öde. Självklart är det svårt att behålla sin värdighet om man hela tiden också är föremål för andras strävan efter personlig vinst och trygghet &#8211; speciellt i en sträng politisk miljö som råder i &#8220;kriget mot terrorismen&#8221;, Kampen mellan Israel och arabvärlden, och den som råder under brinnande krig. Samtidigt tycker man &#8211; jag &#8211; att under fredstid i ett välfungerande samhälle som vårt svenska skulle detta inte behöva finnas, men det gör det. En tändande gnista kan alltid enkelrikta och förvandla vår kritik av samhället mot ett givet mål, ex en gemensam fiende.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:#800000;">På bussen i söndags satt en ung man och läste en tydlig tummad bok: den svenska pocketutgåvan av Hitlers Mein Kampf. Vad som skulle få en ung man i sina yngre tjugu, att läsa Mein Kampf, kan nog inte misstänkas bero på ett idéhistoriskt intresse för tysk litteratur eller historisk germanica, utan troligen desperata politiska idéer sprungna ur sned social ävlan, att han skulle vara nynazist låter jag vara osagt, att han skulle ha otäcka åsikter likaså, men det är lättare att förstå när en historiker, språkvetare eller litteraturvetare läser Mein Kampf &#8211; tyvärr. När min pappa var ung här i Göteborg var denna sociala ävlan med hjälp av förhärdad högerpolitik inget att skämmas för; då stod nazzarna på rad utan att gömma sig, även inom mitt skrå.</span></p>
<p><a href="http://adiewunde.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/fortuna1.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2250" title="fortuna1" src="http://adiewunde.wordpress.com/files/2008/11/fortuna1.jpg?w=58" alt="fortuna1" width="125" height="205" /></a><em><span style="color:#ff0000;">Det bekymrar mig att vi inte lyckats skapa en större förståelse för andra folk, nationer och etniciteter än vad som är fallet, och tyvärr är ju även min egen arbetsgivare &#8211; svenska kyrkan inte helt oskyldig genom sin eviga konflikträdsla. Man vågar inte dra en gräns inför trender och rörelser eller åsikter, utan bara inför enskilda personer &#8211; som då får gå för &#8220;samarbetsproblem&#8221; när det kanske egentligen handlar om släpphänthet i etiska frågor eller dogmatiska frågor. När det gäller våra politiker gäller tyvärr samma sak: Man har tappat modet och förmågan till diskussion.</span></em></p>
<p><span style="color:#333300;">Oavsett det handlar om etniskt ursprung, civilstånd, språk, religion eller sexuell läggning, så är vi väldigt tydligt samma personer med samma behov &#8211; Vi människor är så oerhört lika var ifrån vi än kommer, om inte annat kan dessa filmer hjälpa oss lära det. Att sen ödet faller på oss olika får vi ta upp med Fortuna själv, men fortunas spel ger oss inte rätt att förverkliga ett ständigt Vi och Dom: Vi är alla Fortunas spelpjäser.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#800000;">&#8230;Ty: en liten krok: Karl Orff var faktiskt en av de tyska kompositörer/musiker som sägs ha kollaborerat med nazisterna, andra var ex Furtwängler och Richard Strauss, men till skillnad från Furtwängler och Strauss, som på olika sätt kunnat visa sig &#8220;oskyldiga&#8221; har aldrig Orff behövts rentvås på samma sätt, vilket jag har lite svårt att fördra &#8211; min respekt för Orff sjönk när jag upptäckte <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Orff">detta</a>&#8230;. Alla är vi jämlika, men vissa tydligen litet mer&#8230;..så länge okunskapen får styra&#8230; Nåväl, musiken är ganska skojig i vilket fall som helst.</span></p>

Tras su confinamiento en un campo de concentración alemán en 1944, aceptó colaborar con los nazis en la mayor operación de falsificación de billetes de la Historia, con la que se pretendía contribuir a la financiación de la guerra. Durante los últimos años de la guerra, cuando el Reich veía su final, decidieron imprimir sus propios billetes de las monedas de sus principales enemigos. Con aquel dinero falso pretendían anegar las economías de los países rivales y al tiempo llenar sus propias arcas, vacías por la guerra. En el campo de concentración de Sachsenhausen, dos barracas fueron aisladas del resto y del mundo exterior para ser transformados en talleres de falsificación, era la Operación Bernhard.</p>
<p>Fue el Oscar a la mejor película extranjera y está buena. No es la obra maestra, pero cuenta muy bien el drama que viven los detenidos en dicha barraca, el drama que vive este falsificador.<img class="alignright" style="margin:4px;" src="http://www.welt.de/multimedia/archive/00189/Faelscher_DW_Politi_189400g.jpg" alt="" width="297" height="198" /><br />
El drama humano en general, cuando nos vemos apremiados.<br />
A ver; a vos te tienen detenido unos tipos que no la piensan dos veces en pegarte un tiro o meterte en un cuarto con gas y hacerte jabón. Pero tenés una posibilidad de vivir, resulta que tus habilidades &#8220;artísticas&#8221; le son útiles a tus captores y es el boleto de vida que tenés. Por otro lado están los demás, el resto de detenidos que no tienen la suerte que tenés vos.<br />
¿Te la jugás en defensa de todos, en pro de la justicia porque, no cabe duda alguna, aquello te resulta la injusticia más grande que hay &#8230; o tratás de salvar tu pellejo, es tu vida la que está primero y, si se puede, la del resto?<br />
Paaahhhh &#8230;. brava ¿no?.<br />
Ahi está la cuestión.<br />
Se las recomiendo; todavía está en cartel en nuestras salas, sino, cuando esté en DVD no se la pierdan.</p>

<p>The Counterfeiters is the true story of the largest counterfeiting operation in history, set up by the Nazis in 1936. Salomon &#8220;Sally&#8221; Sorowitsch is the king of counterfeiters. He lives a mischievous life of cards, booze, and women in Berlin during the Nazi-era. Suddenly his luck runs dry when arrested by Superintendent Friedrich Herzog. Immediately thrown into the Mauthausen concentration camp, Salomon exhibits exceptional skills there and is soon transferred to the upgraded camp of Sachsenhausen. Upon his arrival, he once again comes face to face with Herzog, who is there on a secret mission. Hand-picked for his unique skill, Salomon and a group of professionals are forced to produce fake foreign currency under the program Operation Berhard. The team, which also includes detainee Adolf Burger, is given luxury barracks for their assistance. But while Salomon attempts to weaken the economy of Germany&#8217;s allied opponents, Adolf refuses to use his skills for Nazi profit and would like to do something to stop Operation Bernhard&#8217;s aid to the war effort. <p>Berlin, 1936. The Jew Salomon Sorowitsch is the best counterfeiter in Germany. He is living a comfortable life of gambling, booze and women until he is caught. Straight away he is sent to a concentration camp where he is able to use his skills as an artist to get some extra food by painting pictures of his superintendents.</p>
<p>After some time Salomon is transferred to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp where he is forced to play a big part in Operation Bernhard. Here the Nazis want him to produce counterfeit British pounds and American dollars in order to fund the war and disrupt those economies. Salomon and the other inmates try to save their skin by playing along with the Nazis. Adolf Burger, who is politically active, is the only one to sabotage the operation. He manages to delay the process of making the perfect replica of the dollar long enough until the war is over.</p>
<p>Although the film is quite good and the acting is great, I was surprised to hear that it won the  Oscar as Best Foreign Film.</p>

<p><strong>AFTER</strong> the writers strike this year, the Oscars had trouble keeping audiences watching. Not only was the lineup of nominated films—such as <em>There Will Be Blood</em>, <em>No Country For Old Men</em>, and <em>Michael Clayton</em>—unheard of by most, the films were too artsy to invite the public eye. The Best Foreign Language Film Award has had a history of favoring art house cinema. The trend continued when the Oscar went to Germany’s <em>The Lives of Others</em> last year.</p>
<p>This year&#8217;s winner, <em>The Counterfeiters</em> from Austria, takes on a weighty subject, The Holocaust, without really getting to the center of it. While most Holocaust films touch on the graphic and malicious nature of genocide, this film takes another approach. It tells the true story of a group of Jews who are chosen to work at a concentration camp as counterfeiters, illegally copying the British Pound and US Dollar to fuel the Nazi plan of bankrupting foreign economies.</p>
<p>The group, led by former conman Salomon Sorowitsch (Karl Marcovics), must work to stay alive under the supervision of Nazi war criminal Friedrich Herzog (Devid Striesow). They are given comfortable places to sleep, stuffed with food, and worked strenuously for the Nazi regime in a sealed-off bunker.</p>

<p>All the while, they can hear other Jews being tortured and murdered just over the wall. Sorowitsch’s top priority is staying alive, but a younger idealist in the crew plans a strike in hopes of sparking a revolution. The tension builds as the group encounters trouble reproducing the US Dollar.</p>
<p>The film&#8217;s cinematography, dark and grainy, adds a stylistic glow to the scenes. The handheld camera shakes from scene to scene. At times, the style is overdone, distracting from the significance of events on screen. Since the living conditions for these Jews were not as bad at the real concentration camps, the film&#8217;s sets worked well.</p>
<p>Although this film digs persistently to find a new path through the Holocaust—diverging from its forerunners <em>Schindler&#8217;s List</em>, <em>The Pianist</em>, and <em>Faithless</em>—it doesn’t separate itself from the pack. The dreariness and gloom of these movies has been touched on already. Still, Filmmakers keep returning to the Holocaust to find new material. The problem is that eventually the realistic nature of the Holocaust comes only as memory of a film.</p>

<p>An example is James Cameron&#8217;s <em>Titanic</em>, which emptied many bags of buttered popcorn, but also distorted a real tragedy. This is not to say that tragic history should not be touched. However, once a real-life occurrence—with the people who died or the families who were affected—becomes an entire genre, it begins to market a mere interpretation of human tragedy.</p>
<p>Beyond its social failures, <em>The Counterfeiters</em> works in a detached way &#8211; the audience is not invited to interact with the characters. The protagonist Solomon, with his own set of moral failings, is hard to trust. Therefore the narrative rolls disjointedly back and forth, and the audience is given the ending first. The result of this is a loss of emotional impact—rather, it seems to declare itself a film, or just: another Holocaust film.</p>
<p>Most critics and the Academy Awards declare The Counterfeiters to be a work of art and originality. Then why didn&#8217;t Paul Verhoeven&#8217;s <em>Black Book</em>, another Holocaust drama, win Best Foreign film last year? Although the Holocaust itself will forever haunt the memories of the world, filmmakers need to find new subject matter.</p>
<p>A more deserving film was the more uplifting tale of Jean-Dominque Bauby&#8217;s dealing with paralysis, <em>The Diving Bell and the Butterfly</em>. Nevertheless, since the Academy Awards received some of their lowest ratings this year, it probably makes little difference who won.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Alemanya és un país que sempre he respectat. Per una banda, ja farà uns 10 anys hi vaig anar de viatge, i tot em va semblar gran, net, ordenat. A més, vaig estudiar-ne l&#8217;idioma força temps, i en vaig fer una assignatura de literatura a la facultat. Alguns dels meus llibres preferits els vaig llegir en aquella assignatura. Un dels que més em va agradar, &#8220;El lector&#8221;, tractava sobre l&#8217;experiència de l&#8217;holocaust viscuda des de la segona generació; aquella generació que no ha viscut la guerra però és conscient del què va suposar, i ha d&#8217;encaixar que els seus pares i avis hi van estar, d&#8217;alguna manera o altra, implicats.</p>
<p>Moltes vegades m&#8217;havia passat pel cap que m&#8217;agradaria poder preguntar a algun alemany com vivien, actualment, aquesta part de la seva història. No creia que mai ho pogués fer; no és un tema que t&#8217;atreveixis a parlar amb el primer turista que et pregunta per la Pedrera&#8230; Però l&#8217;estiu passat, al camp de treball, vaig conèixer la meva ànima bessona musical alemanya, i a ell sí que li vaig poder preguntar. Em va dir que era un tema llargament explicat, parlat i debatut a l&#8217;escola, que ell creia que feia que molts joves s&#8217;allunyessis de qualsevol postura patriòtica o nacionalista, i fins i tot tinguessin cert autoodi. En tot cas, altra vegada, em va sorprendre el respecte que que ells continuen mostrant envers aquest tema, i no vaig poder evitar de fer comparacions amb el tractament de la història que es fa a casa nostra.</p>
<p>Sempre he tingut un sentiment doble davant les pel·lícules o llibres que tracten aquest tema: m&#8217;ho fan passar increïblement malament per una banda, però sento una mena de deure moral davant d&#8217;elles que fa que les acabi anant a veure. Per respecte, per no oblidar. Per això ahir vaig anar a veure <a href="http://www.diefaelscher.at/" target="_blank"><i>Die Fälscher</i></a>, els falsificadors. En acabar la pel·lícula &#8211; jo com sempre tard &#8211; em vaig assabentar que havia guanyat un òscar a la millor pel·lícula estrangera.  Al meu parer la pel·lícula se&#8217;l mereixia, i més i tot.</p>

<p>A l&#8217;esquerra el cartell alemany, i a la dreta el de la distribució en espanyol, on sembla que amb sutilesa no venguin i necessitin ser més explícits La pel·lícula explica la història de Salomon Sorowitsch, un falsificador jueu que, després de ser empresonat en un camp de concentració alemany l&#8217;any 1944, s&#8217;caba veient obligat a col·laborar amb els alemanys en l&#8217; &#8216;Operació Bernhard&#8217;, l&#8217;operació de falsificació de bitllets més gran de tota la història, amb la qual es pretenia contribuir al finançament de la guerra.</p></blockquote>
<p>Com veieu, el dilema està servit. Si us ha cridat l&#8217;atenció aneu-la a veure, no us decebrà. Tinc la sensació que quan els alemanys fan pel·lícules s&#8217;ho prenen de tal manera que els resultats són brillants.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Salomon &#8220;Sally&#8221; Sorowitsch is an opportunistic document forger living a decadent lifestyle in pre-war Berlin until he is arrested and sent to a concentration camp. In the camp Sally is recruited to work with other criminals, printing professionals and bankers &#8211; all fellow prisoners &#8211; to undermine the Allied economies by counterfeiting the pound and the dollar.</p>
<p><!--more-->This extraordinary story is based on the memoirs of fellow prisoner and Communist sympathiser Adolf Burger, whose attempts to sabotage the counterfeiting operation creates the moral dilemma the prisoners face. To what degree should they assist the Nazi war effort in order to save their own lives? Their burden of choice is part of what makes <em>The Counterfeiters </em>so powerful.</p>
<p>Writer/director Stefan Ruzowitzky, who previously made the <em>Anatomy </em>horror films, does not shy away from the brutality of the concentration camps but nor does he revel in their nastiness. His low-key direction allows the film to focus on the relationships between the counterfeiters so that their friendships provide the film with its emotional core. This Austrian winner of Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars is one of the most compelling films to have been made about the Holocaust.</p>
