LOS ANGELES (AFP) – American actress Brittany Murphy, who died suddenly at age 32, was buried on Christmas Eve with a private ceremony at a cemetery in the Hollywood hills, local media reported.

The star of hit films such as “Clueless,” “Just Married” and “8 Mile” died Sunday of apparent cardiac arrest, but an official cause of death will not be released for several weeks as coroners await the results of toxicology tests.

Murphy was laid to rest in a “strictly private” service Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with only a handful of family and friends, RadarOnline.com reported.

Brittany Murphy’s husband and mother made a frantic attempt to revive her before paramedics arrived … this according to notes written by an investigator from the L.A. County Coroner’s office. And, there were a shocking number of strong prescription meds on Brittany’s nightstand.

TMZ has reviewed the documents, written by Investigator Blacklock. According to his notes, Brittany Murphy “had been complaining of shortness of breath and severe abdominal pain” for 7 to 10 days prior to her death. According to the notes, Murphy went into the bathroom at around 7:30 AM Sunday and shut the door.

A half hour later Brittany’s mother, Sharon Murphy, went to check on her daughter, opened the bathroom door and “discovered the decedent lying on the floor unresponsive.” According to the notes, Sharon yelled for help. Brittany’s husband, Simon Monjack, who was in bed, heard the screams and ran to the bathroom.

According to the notes, Sharon called 911 and Simon “attempted to revive the decedent by placing her in the shower and running the water.”

The notes continue — “The decedent remained unresponsive and purged her stomach contents prior to the arrival of the paramedics.”

When the paramedics arrived, Brittany was “without signs of life.”

Paramedics moved Brittany from the bathroom to the master bedroom, where they found a slew of prescription drugs — “A check of the nightstands revealed large amounts of prescription medication in the decedent’s name. Also noted were numerous empty prescription medication bottles in the decedent’s husband’s name, the decedent’s mother’s name and unidentified third party names.”

According to the notes, the medications included Topamax (anti-seizure meds also to prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med) and miscellaneous vitamins.

The notes say, “No alcohol containers, paraphernalia or illegal drugs were discovered.”

According to the notes, “The night prior to her death, the decedent had consumed some noodles, leftover Thai food, Gatorade, water and tea with lemon.”

The notes also say Brittany had a history of hypoglycemia and was hospitalized in April 2009 for low blood sugar
while on location in Oregon.”

Monjack told the investigator during the 7 to 10 days prior to her death, Brittany complained of shortness of breath and severe abdominal pains but he was not overly alarmed because “she often suffered from severe menstrual pains.”

The investigator spoke with police at the scene, who told him “foul play is not suspected.”

Brittany Murphy died in her home Sunday morning, leaving us with one less great actress working today. As far as her cause of death, I’m just as Clueless as you, but I wanted to make this video to pay my respects.

“I feel very blessed for everything I have in my life and my family,” she told Tarts.

Actress Brittany Murphy was rushed by ambulance to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in the early hours of December 20.

She was pronounced dead on arrival from cardiac arrest.

Pop Tarts spoke with Murphy just days earlier, in what now turns out to have been her final interview.

Murphy’s frail appearance at the December 3 opening party of contemporary label Tt Collection’s first pop-up retail location in Los Angeles raised a few eyebrows.

“I am a bit thinner now then what I would like to be,” Murphy told Tarts.

Murphy, who also seemed to be a bit distracted and dazed, had been dealing with an array of personal stresses.

In November, rumors circulated that she was fired from a film in Puerto Rico, which her rep told Tarts at the time was not true.

Then her husband Simon Monjack was rushed to hospital after their return flight in which he became gravely ill and “incoherent.”

Despite admitting to being a few pounds underweight, Murphy was very enthusiastic about her workout regimen, crediting her slender physique to plies and pirouettes.

“I was a ballerina for a long time,” Murphy said. “I still take ballet lessons now – what it does to your body is incredible.”

Murphy also wanted to talk to Tarts about a charity very close to her heart. Proceeds from the Tt Collection event were being donated to Looking Beyond, an organization that helps families of children who can’t afford the prosthetics that they need.

“Looking Beyond is a charity I’ve been involved with for a very long time and very passionate about it,” Murphy said, tearing up. “What they do is incredible, giving limbs to children in need. It’s very heartbreaking, but so great to be able to help.”

The emotional actress was quick to count her own blessings.

“I feel very blessed for everything I have in my life and my family,” she told Tarts.

We also wanted to know if she kept in touch with the cast of “Clueless,” the movie that put her on the map.

“I haven’t spoke to them in a long time, but I still keep in contact with Amy Heckerling, the director,” she added with a laugh. “So funny, but it was hard to get a job for two years after that, everyone thought I was really Tai.”

Funeral arrangements for Brittany Murphy are now being planned.

Why did she die? Because 2 off duty EMS operators walked into her shop for coffee and watched her fall down and did nothing to help her but told her co-workers to call 911 before walking out of the store.  Mayor Mike Bloomberg is railing that their actions are heartless and unconscionable, which they are however it also has something to do with race.

I am not usually a race monger and abhor that type of thing when others do it but in this case it is an obvious case of discrimination but if the two EMS people turn out to be minority based then chalk it up to laziness.

As I’m sure all of you have heard, actress Brittany Murphy passed away yesterday.  While the circumstances involving her death are vague, there has been a ton of speculation on whether it was drug-related or brought on by an eating disorder.  Whatever it was, this one caught me completely off-guard.  Like Natasha Richardson, Brittany wasn’t even on my radar of celebrities who could die–I wasn’t even this surprised when MJ died. 

Brittany got her break starring alongside Alicia Silverstone and Stacey Dash in the hit, “Clueless” as transfer-student Tai and went on to star in movies such as ”Just Married”, “Girl, Interrupted”, “Spun”, “Uptown Girls” and “Don’t Say A Word.”  She was 32.

As someone who grew up watching “Clueless” (I was nine when I first watched it and am twenty now), this is all very strange.  You never think of someone so young who’s career you’ve watched forever dying.  I wasn’t really a fan, but one of my best friends loves her so I was always pretty conscious of what was going on with her movie-wise.  I hope whereve Brittany is now she’s found peace.  This will also be my last post on the topic, because like Michael Jackson, they’re probabaly about to hang her out to dry and I’d like to at least preserve her dignity on this site.

Among the last missionaries to enter China before that become impossible in the 1940s, he was head of the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries from 1968 to 1980, and author of the most widely used mission study book in the history of the denomination.

Jones had a special concern for presenting mission as the call to Christians wherever they are, and he worked hard to address mission issues in ways that were meaningful to congregations.

“Tracey K. Jones, Jr. was a giant of the mission movement of the church,” said Bishop Joel N. Martinez, the board’s interim top executive. “He lived on the mission frontiers and then gave leadership to the whole mission community through his roles in our mission organizations. He was known for his global mission and his ability to communicate that vision to both laity and clergy.”

Betty Thompson, now retired, who was on the communications and education staff of the mission agency in Jones’ day, said, “Tracey’s leadership came at a time when new patterns of mission around the world were emerging as colonialism ended. He knew that you did not need to cross salt water to be in mission.”

Boyhood in China

Jones, the son of Tracey and Marion Flowers Jones, was born in Boston in 1917 and spent his boyhood between Syracuse, N.Y., and Canton, China. His father was a YMCA missionary and executive. The young Tracey was educated at Mount Hermon Academy, Ohio Wesleyan University, and Yale Divinity School.

He spent his early professional years flying from Delhi, India, to Chungking, China, to work as a liaison between American and Chinese troops. He then joined a group of Methodist missionaries working in the Nanking area. He witnessed the takeover of China by communist forces, and was able to remain for six months after the change. He joined his wife in Hong Kong for a time, and in the early 1950s was pastor of a Methodist church in Singapore.

Jones returned to the United States in 1955. He joined the staff of the then Board of Missions of The Methodist Church and would become the head of the agency’s World Division. He was active in both the National and World Councils of Churches, leading ecumenical delegations to numerous places, including the Middle East.

Mission Interpreter

Jones help to craft the development of The United Methodist Church, formed in 1968 by the union of The Methodist and Evangelical United Brethren churches, and to combine the mission work of the two denominations. This effort came at a time when attitudes about mission were changing and when the civil rights and women’s movements were engaging both church and society.

“Tracey Jones was a firm supporter of opening all doors in the church to people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds,” Thompson said. “And he was a genuine feminist, understanding and appreciating the contributions that women have to make to the church and its mission.”

Jones’ 1963 book, “Our Mission Today: The Beginning of a New Age,” published by the mission board, sold 300,000 copies.

Harriett Olson, who currently leads the board’s Women’s Division, recently spoke with Jones by phone, discussing with him matters of organizational importance. “He counseled that change is needed in every era for the vitality of the church,” she said.

After his retirement, he served as a professor at Drew Theological Seminary, Madison, N.J. In later years, he was active in Habitat for Humanity, Hospice, Resurrection House and his local church.

His first wife, Martha Clayton Jones, who was also the child of a missionary family, died in 1975. The couple had three children. He later married Junia Moss, the mother of two sons.

She survives him, along with his daughters, Judith Watson of Milford, Pa., and Deborah Breitenbach of Silver Bay, N.Y.; three sons, Tracey K. Jones III of East Orange, N.J., Robert Moss of Charlotte, N.C., and Tim Moss of Cheyenne, Wyo.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Actress Brittany Murphy has sadly passed away at just the young age of  32. The media are once again coming up with all the many reasons in to which the young actress could have died, everything from her husband featured in the above picture, to drugs, to anorexia, to diabetes. However coroners have said that Murphy died of a natural cause. All that I will say for now is our thoughts & prayers are with her family and husband, and the media should leave it at that for now. Rest in peace Brittany Murphy.

Los Angeles – Actress Brittany Murphy died Sunday morning after going into cardiac arrest at her home overlooking the Sunset Strip, Los Angeles police said. Brittany Murphy was 32.

The Los Angeles Police Department also confirmed it is conducting an investigation into the death of Brittany Murphy, according to an LAPD spokesperson.

Murphy’s mother discovered the star unconscious in a shower, and at about 8 a.m. her husband, Simon Monjack, called 911 to report that she was not breathing, initially reported by TMZ.com .

The actress was reported dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, near Beverly Hills, at 10:04 a.m. today, a spokeswoman there said.

Los Angeles police officers were sent to Murphy’s residence, in the 1800 block of Rising Glen Road, in the hills above the Sunset Strip. The Los Angeles Times reported the officers were asking preliminary questions, and that it was too soon to say if a police inquiry was underway.

A spokeswoman at Cedars-Sinai, Sally Stewart, said Murphy’s family had allowed the hospital to release the information that she had died. But Stewart said no other information would be forthcoming from the hospital, which is about two miles from Murphy’s home.

The Los Angeles County’s coroner’s office has taken the body from Cedars- Sinai to its facility on Mission Road near downtown, sources said.

Neighbor Clare Staples said she saw firefighters working to resuscitate the actress Sunday morning. She said Murphy was on a stretcher and “looked as though she was dead at the scene.”

Murphy’s husband, wearing pajama bottoms and no shoes, appeared “dazed” as firefighters tried to save her, Staples said.

“It’s just tragic,” she said.

Last month, an ambulance was reported called to an LAX arrival gate as Murphy and Monjack arrived on a flight from Puerto Rico. At that time, it was Monjack who was sick, and he was rushed to a hospital.

Tabloids reported that Murphy had been tossed off the set of an undisclosed movie filming on location there, after being fired.

Rising out of TV sitcoms in the 1990s, Murphy starred in the movies “Girl Interrupted,” “Sin City,” “8 Mile,” and “Happy Feet,” and was the voice of Luanne Platter in 200-plus episodes of “King Of The Hill.”

Murphy was born in Atlanta, was raised by her mother, Sharon Murphy, in Edison, N.J. and later Los Angeles. Her father, Angelo Bertolotti, is a convicted mobster in New Jersey.

Murphy credited her mother, Sharon, with being a key to her success.

“When I asked my mom to move to California, she sold everything and moved out here for me,” Murphy said. “I was really grateful to have grown up in an environment that was conducive to creating and didn’t stifle any of that. She always believed in me.”

Murphy landed her first role in 1991 on the television show “Blossom,” before landing a starring role that same year in “Drexell’s Class,” a short- lived television series. She also had recurring roles in “Sister, Sister,” “Party of Five,” and “Boy Meets World.”

In 1998 she was nominated for best leading female performance by the Young Artist Awards for the television movie “David and Lisa.”

As a singer, Murphy and Paul Oakenfold released the single “Faster Kill Pussycat,” from the album “A Lovely Mind.” The song became a club hit, placing number one Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play Chart.

In the film “Happy Feet,” she covered Queen’s “Somebody to Love” and Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Boogie Wonderland.”

Before marrying Monjack in 2007, she was engaged to talent manager Jeff Kwatinetz. In 2006, Murphy was voted 36th in FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women List, and May in the same year, Maxim named Murphy #49 on its annual Hot 100 List.

She dated Ashton Kutcher, who costarred with Murphy in 2003’s romantic comedy “Just Married.”

Kutcher posted a message on Twitter on Sunday morning about Murphy’s death.

“2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine,” Kutcher wrote. “My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon.”

“See you on the other side kid,” he added.

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) — Actress Brittany Murphy has died, Los Angeles police and hospital officials said Sunday. She was 32.

Murphy was pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m. PT Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Sally Stewart told CNN Radio.

Murphy starred in several movies, including “Clueless,” “Don’t Say a Word,” and “8 Mile.” She also voiced the character Luanne on the animated TV series “King of the Hill“.

“In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support,” Murphy’s publicist, Nicole Perna, said in a statement. “It is their wish that you respect their privacy.”

Murphy is survived by her husband, Simon Monjack, whom she married in 2007.

Fans took to Murphy’s official Facebook page Sunday to issue their condolences.

“She was a great actress and was going to go far in her career! She will be greatly missed!” read one post.

Former boyfriend — and “Just Married” co-star — Ashton Kutcher posted his reaction to the news via Twitter.

“2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon,” Kutcher posted.

He added later: “see you on the other side kid.”

Singer-actress Jessica Simpson tweeted: “Brittany Murphy was an incredible ray of Light to so many people. Her smile was contagious. My prayers are with her family and loved ones.”

Murphy was best known for her work in a string of romantic comedies in the early 2000s, including lead roles in “Uptown Girls” alongside Dakota Fanning, and “Little Black Book” with Holly Hunter and Kathy Bates.

She also lent her voice to a number of animated works. In addition to her “King of the Hill” role, Murphy’s raspy voice could be heard on the TV series “Futurama” and the 2006 hit movie “Happy Feet.”

Her work as troubled teenagers in “Don’t Say a Word” and “Girl, Interrupted” also gained her critical acclaim.

Murphy was the subject of tabloid gossip after she transformed from a pudgy brunette in 1995’s “Clueless” to a petite, lithe blonde who graced the cover of such magazines as Cosmopolitan in 2005. She frequently denied rumors of an eating disorder and plastic surgery.

Her love life also was fodder for gossip sites as she broke two engagements in 2004 and 2006, then married Monjack after only four months of dating.

“All these ridiculous people came out and said all this nonsense when we got married, [but] thank God we had the substance and the history within that to [say], ‘Yeah, whatever!’ ” Monjack told People magazine in a 2008 interview. “We still don’t understand what happened. It’s made us laugh, it’s made us cry, but it’s made us stronger.”

OMG! She was only 32 years old. She went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead this morning at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. This is so sad. She was a really good actress and she was way too young. People are saying it was probably drug or eating disorder related. I personally have no idea. She’s been denying it in her interviews. Supposedly her mother found her unconscious in the shower.
