Various types of computer software are used for some specific defined functions. So which are the basic and the best software that every computer needs. Let’s find out…

We would not be able to use our computer if we don’t have appropriate software. Software is basically a collection of programs or a single program that allows you to perform some functions. John Turkey is 1958 was the first person to ever use this term. Types of computer software basically refers to the language or codes that are involved in various operations of a computer system.

Different types of computer software of your choice are available in the market. The three main types of software are programming, system and application software. System software is the most popular and the most used software out of all three. System software also offers you a protective cover for all the other software and it also gives support to some of the hardware parts of the computer like keyboard and printers. The programming software is a must use for programmers. They use the programming software to develop the various programming language to run their computer software. Linkers, editors, interpreters are some good examples of programmer software. Application software is basically used for money making purposes. Application software is basically used in educational, medical and business fields. A good example of an application software is computer games.

Different Types of Computer Software

As a writer I can say that if I didn’t had Microsoft Office, my work would definitely be very tough. So I am recommending some different types of software that would be ideal for daily activities of your computer.

Word Processing

A widely used software, word processing is basically used for editing documents such as reports, letters, and big essays. Word processing also provides several features for document editing and formatting. When you enter text in the document, word processing helps you to edit, delete, copy, move this text from one document to another. When you go to formatting, different formats can be applied to make your document look more presentable and attractive. The most popular used word processing software is Word Perfect and now-a-days it’s Microsoft Word.

Anti Virus

For a long time I used to believe that the companies that make antivirus software are the ones who make all the viruses. This is one thought that can never be defined. No matter who makes these viruses, anti virus programs are one of the highest searched things on the Internet. Most computers now-a-days come with their own anti virus which is pre installed in them.

Application Software

We install different types of computer software on our desktops and just forget them. They come in use only for some functions but not with application software. Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint is widely used by many of us and is one of the most popular application software today. For surfing the most popular are Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. For normal emails we rely Microsoft Outlook and for entertainment we use Media Player for watching videos and listening to music tracks. You can also check out the top video editing software which is highly recommended for different types of video editing.

Inventory Management Software

This software helps an organization to keep a track of its various goods and materials. An inventory software helps you to also know the various transactions of your stored goods and even their quantity and quality. This software helps you in achieving proper coordination of your goods which in turn is beneficial for the organization.

Accounting Software

This type of computer software might not be popular with kids but that doesn’t mean that they are not useful. Accounting software are one of the highest searched software because they come in very handy for accountants and small business owners to keep a record for their expenses and earnings. They are also used by students who are giving their higher research in mathematics. Nevertheless, these accounting software are in high demand with companies and accountants because they help in making the pay roll and also help in managing corporate tax information.

List of Computer Software for Professional Use

Additional to all the above given examples, there are many more types of computer software which are very useful for people and various commercial enterprises.

Tax Software

Video Editing Software

DVD Burning Software

Retail Software

AntiSpyware Software

Customer Relationship Management Software

Electronic Media Record Software

Project Management Tools

Time Management Software

So these were some different types of computer software. Well there are many more major types of software in the market, it’s hard to imagine a world without computer software. So if you think I have missed out on some names, please leave comments.

Learn about the different types of media, that make up the world of communication and information. Find out how these different mediums influence and play a substantial role in our day to day lives…

Media is an umbrella term for the different kinds of mediums that enrich us with knowledge, and vital information. It is the circuit that runs through society, in the form of visual, print and audio mediums, namely – television, newspaper (magazines, tabloids and newsletters), radio and the Internet. These mediums play different roles when it comes to communicating to the audiences at large, as well as altering their perceptions. Advertising agencies take advantage of peoples’ nature, and therefore give out repetitive messages of a brand or place that can – make their lives better and improve lifestyles; showcase technology that is eye catching; food products that are healthy; medicines that are effective; cost saving plans with insurance suggestions; bank loans and mutual fund investments; attractive holiday packages and apartments and so on. We witness everyday how these different types of mass media change and aid us in our day to day dilemmas, making things more accessible and extremely convenient. It’s an arm stretch or a mouse click away, making us rely on these mediums as we live out our lives.

4 Types of Media

Here the types of media channels in mass media, are discussed further in detail, with added information on how it has changed over the course of time.

Newspaper (Print Media)

The different types of print media content, varies according to the targeted audience or market. Content in newspapers will slightly differ to that in magazines, tabloids and newsletters. These mediums serve the purpose of showcasing advertisements, news or entertainment related information to audiences. Newspapers are a worldwide medium, that have been around far back to Julius Caesar’s time, in the form of government bulletins. With the industrial revolution, newspaper were made possible to print and were used as a means of communicating in the year 1814, which kicked off journalism.

Inception of Some Newspaper Publications Worldwide

Opregte Haarlemsche Courant

England

1702

The Daily Courant

Radio

The radio marked a turning point, in the way information was conveyed or transferred, because it used sound to capture the attention of audiences. Being the first communications medium that could transfer or transmit live voices over long distances, radio was and still is one of the most effective medium. People depended and still depend upon it as a source of important news, and information. The importance and optimum use of radio as a mass media was nowhere more evident than in World War 1. Radio was used to send diplomatic messages when Germany found out the British had tapped its cables. It made itself a medium that audiences found as their connection to all that happened worldwide. If they ever knew that television and the Internet, would take the world by storm in this day and age, they’d be blown away by how we’re advancing, and still in the running to make it bigger and better.

Television

The progression of television has come a long way from black and white and color TV to now plasma and LCD. The advent of this ever changing medium started in the late 1930s, for entertainment and news purposes initially. Now, we have advertising, that has been incorporated into entertainment and news, to give viewers a chance to avail from products/services. There’s also a new way of accessing the Internet, by using a ‘Web TV’ that is hooked up instead of a PC, to browse information, and watch streaming videos on large LCD screens. After production of the TV program, a news channel has to make it available to the market, for those who are interested in viewing it. These programs can be talk shows, cooking shows, serials, movies and so on. There are two ways that is done.

First/Original Run

Once a program is completed by the producer, of either multiple or a single episode/s, he/she then wants either a network or station to view it to audiences. These networks/TV stations already pay for the production themselves, or license a producer to do it instead before it is viewed to the people.

Broadcast Syndication

This is when secondary runs of a program, which go beyond its original first issue run, is again broadcast in other countries/locally and isn’t necessarily managed by the producer. In this case other TV stations, individuals or companies involve themselves in selling the product to available markets that they are allowed to showcase it to, usually under contract basis in some cases from the copyright holders/producers.

Internet

Internet technology has paved the way to revolutionize all that we thought was either hidden or inaccessible. From the different types of media, the history of the Internet can be termed to be, by far, man’s greatest innovation story. The Internet has made it possible to contact others worldwide, nationally and locally; to send emails and be a part of chat rooms and conferences; blogging with discussion boards, opinion polls and forums; webcam viewing; global mapping using ‘Google Earth’; sending and receiving images and files; downloading from the Internet through websites; signing up to a social networking websites; radio stations with live streaming; video streaming and lots more. It has stomped out conventional norms, with every teenager, adult and senior owning either a laptop or PC today. News can also be viewed via satellite with reporters covering events on site and sending it via the Internet to broadcasting news networks. Its an amalgamation of uses, that is above all user friendly and hi-tech. Using radio waves and frequency, not to mention satellite transmissions – we are able to access a whole new domain when it comes down to getting what we want and need within minutes. The Internet revolution has made it easier for people to get in touch, fuel business, make profits, shop and access free information from any Internet access enabled device. It is truly a technology that speaks for itself.

Pros and Cons of Mass Media

Negative Influences of Media

Positive Effects of the Media

These types of media are objects of fascination and awe, with technology advances to make it better, faster and easier to handle. As with any medium of communication, it can be put to good use and also be misused. Depending on the type of media coverage, a product, news or any piece of information can be used or misused according to the intention of the user. With the advent of faster and quicker means of media communication the fine line between ethical and non ethical media has begun to blur. So the next time you hook yourself onto a hi-tech gadget or innovation, think about what lies ahead in terms of progression. Man is constantly coming up with ways to mesh technology with the slow rise in the standard of living; who knows where it’ll lead us or what’s in store for the future.

Of the different types of cars, hybrids are supposed to be cars of a greener future. Know about the different types of hybrid cars, in the following article.

There is a sense of alarm ringing about due the rising global warming effects. People are become more and more environmental conscious due to the changes in world wide climatic conditions. These changes have brought the rising fuel emissions to everyone’s notice. Automobile manufacturers around the world are trying to come up with different types of cars that have lesser fuel emissions and lowered green house effects. Another reason for coming up with an alternative fuel mechanism for cars is the rising fuel costs. Thus, different types of hybrid cars were created to help save the environment as well as car drivers from the high fuel costs.

What are Hybrid Cars

Hybrid cars are automobiles that alternately use fuel and electricity to run. They help cut down fuel emissions to almost 50% to 60%. The hybrid cars have two motors, one that is powered by gasoline and another that is an electric motor. These two motors help save fuel, provide increase in power and performance. Both the motors share the power to get the car moving at a desired speed. When the car is running at high speed, the gasoline motor provides the fuel. When the car is running at much lower speeds or is idle, the electric motor supplies the charge. The gasoline motor shuts down without burning any fuel. Thus, hybrid cars and the environment, go hand in hand. Another point to note here is that hybrid car looks just like other types of cars, from the outside, so you can have your favorite sports or coupe as a hybrid car.

There are several different types of hybrid cars available in the market. Thus, consumers have a variety of options available based on the speed, car cost and car brand to choose from. However, people tend to get confused regarding the different types of hybrid cars available and wonder which car will suite their needs. Let us discuss what are the different types of hybrid cars in the following paragraphs.

What are the Different Types of Hybrid Cars

There are basically three types of hybrid cars available in the market. Let us read about these different types of hybrid cars in detail.

Series Hybrid Car

The series hybrid car, the gasoline engine is used to start up the car and after the car reaches a certain speed, the electric motor takes over. When one applies brake, the electric motor transfers the charge to the gasoline motor. The gas engine helps charge the electric motor, and never actually powers the car directly.

Parallel Hybrid Car

The parallel hybrid car uses the gasoline engine to turn the transmission and the electric motor to enhance the car power as and when required. This means the two motors work simultaneously to give off energy that helps propelling the car forward.

Full Hybrid Car

The full hybrid car uses the electric power for propulsion and uses the gasoline engine for power and acceleration. The full hybrid cars are also known as the ‘two mode’ hybrids.

You will find there are plenty of hybrid cars pros and cons if you go through all the related hybrid cars information. According to the hybrid cars 2010 review, Toyota Prius is found to be the cleanest and greenest of all types of cars. The hybrid car reviews cover more information related to the best hybrid cars in market. Hope the above paragraphs on different types of hybrid cars has helped you find the right car that suits your needs.

The law of land is a set of basic rules that is established by society, citizens and governments. ‘Types of law‘ is a small write up about some of the classifications of different enactments that have been implemented by courts and governments. To know more about the types of laws, read on

In the initial stages of the history of law, the rules or enactments or rather the law of land was made by the monarchs or the local chief in the interest of the public. In ancient Rome for a certain period of time, it was also framed by the representatives of the people. In the modern era, especially after the industrial revolution, Parliaments and other legislative bodies have taken up the procedures of framing the different types of of laws. In the modern era, the practice of writing law and having a doctrine of court proceedings has led to the development of two phenomenons, namely, types of laws and types of law practice.

Types of Law Degrees

The field of law is so enormous that one specific law degree cannot cover it’s entire scope. Hence, based upon the classification of law, different types of law careers have also evolved. Lawyers and attorneys represent people in front of the court of law. Solicitors frame the important legal documents and Judges dispense appropriate justice. In addition to that the paralegals assist all the people working in the filed of law. These professionals, however, specialize and excel in one specific domain of law. The domain is basically a classification or a segment of a set of laws. Corporate law for example is a set of laws that governs business organizations and their workings.

Different Types of Laws

The following are some important classifications of laws and enactments.

Criminal Law: Criminal law is often governed by a penal code and deals with hardcore crime cases. In such enactments there is genuine involvement of police department and law enforcers. On the whole studying such a type of law is not at all a pleasant task as it deals with anything from theft to murder. Proceedings of such enactments is often prolonged and in certain cases, dangerous. Lawyers and attorneys, who deal with such laws and cases related there of, are often termed as criminal lawyers. You may also refer to criminal defense lawyers

Corporate Law: The steep rise in business and commerce all around the world has led to the development of what is known as a ‘corporate world’. The corporate world compromises of all companies and business organizations that operate for profit. Due to their enormous financial capabilities, these organizations are to be governed by a set of laws which are at largely referred to as corporate law.

Consumer Rights: Consumerism is an important feature of modern era, and so is the phenomenon of their rights. In the last fifty years, the popularization of consumer goods has also led to the development of consumer rights and their protection. Consumer laws protect these rights of consumers and consumer right lawyers fight cases for the aggrieved consumers.

Labor and Employment Laws: The labor and employment laws are basically framed to protect employees from the unlawful practices and decisions of the authorities of organization where they work. Such laws started to coming into prominence after the industrial revolution. Labor and employment laws are closely related to both criminal as well as corporate laws.

Environmental Laws: In the 20th century, pollution, concern about the environment and global warming has led to genuine environmental concerns which has led to passing of some important environment protection laws that are imposed on all citizens and also business organizations.

Though, these types of laws are considered to be the prominent ones, there are some other laws that are equally necessary such as banking and insurance laws and even marine laws. Another strict feature of laws is the civil rights procedures that forms the basis of a democratic nation. It is important that we obey and honors all these laws and also use them to the best ethical benefit.

Good Luck!

Are you aware of the different types of pimples? If not then this article will provide with just what you must know and be aware of…

The hair and skin on the body are kept lubricated with the help of an oily liquid known as sebum. This is secreted or produced by what is known as the sebaceous glands. Now this liquid, after it us secreted, makes it way through the sebum, and reaches the skin through the opening of the hair follicle. This process becomes overactive, especially during teenage, and causes the sebaceous glands to excrete excess of the oily liquid. Along with this, the body can also produces excess of dead skin cells. The oil and the skin cells may get accumulated in the hair follicle, and form into a soft plug. Depending on the type of this plug, there are different types of pimples, which would be described in the following segment. Also a brief data on the treatment options have also been provided.

When the same soft plug is not completely but partially blocked, it remains open at the skin surface. And then what happens is, the melanin of the skin reacts with oxygen, and cause the plug to darken over time thus, the name blackhead.

Pustules

Pustules on face are also one of the types of pimples, which are usually red, and develop as bumps, tender to touch. These remain inflamed, and have a white or yellow center.

Papules

Similar to pustules, papules indicate infection or inflammation in the hair follicles. They also surface as small, red bumps, which may be tender to touch.

Nodules

In some cases, the excess sebum and dead skin cells start building up deep beneath the surface of hair follicles. And when this happens, it causes the formation of lumps. These are called nodular acne and they seem to occur beneath the surface of the skin, and are usually painful, and large in size.

Cysts

Probably, these are the types of pimples that are the most severe and painful. They also form beneath the surface of the skin in the form of lumps. However, cystic acne gets filled with pus, and this is what increases the risk of causing acne scars.

Acne Conglobata

This is a rare and severe form of acne that is known to affect areas such as the back, buttocks, chest, shoulders, upper arms, thighs, including the face. According to experts, this type of acne is a combination of pustules and nodules.

Other Types of Pimples

Back acne

Acne Rosacea

Acne Fulminans

Gram-Negative Folliculitis

Treatment of Pimples

We are done with the types of pimples, and now how to get rid of them is what we would be discussing here. The treatment is centered around reducing the excess sebum production, getting rid of the bacterial infection (if any), and reducing inflammation. Also, speeding up the skin cell turnover is one of the goals of the treatment.

If we speak of over-the-counter medications, they are good for dealing with mild types of pimple nodules, pustules, papules and the like. And they, most likely, do not respond to severe kinds of the problem. So for these, doctors may provide prescription-strength topical lotions. These products contain vitamin A as one of their active ingredients. They basically prevent the formation of the soft plug I was talking about.

For getting rid of bacteria, antibiotics are recommended. They also help in reducing inflammation. Patients might have to follow a course of topical and oral antibiotics. For cysts, more aggressive form of medications are prescribed, when antibiotics come of no use. Other treatment methods include oral contraceptives, laser and light therapy, and cosmetic procedures.

In case you wish to learn about the types of pimple scars, then this link on the types on acne scars is just what you need to refer to. This was all for my article on the types of pimples and how to treat them. To give you a little advice, wash the affected areas with a gentle cleanser, avoid irritants which seem to worsen the pimples, and drink plenty of water to wash out the toxins. Most importantly, if you leave your pimples alone and not squeeze them, then you can recover faster.

They do not prefer the company of other fish in their area of water. These fish are known as anadromous fish, which means that they live in the sea but reproduce in freshwater (stream or lake). After they return from their sea life, they tend to be larger in size than their ‘like-ones’, who did not go for a ‘vacation at the sea!’

Goldfish

Goldfish are beautiful ornamental types of freshwater fish. A common belief remains that they were among the first breeds of freshwater fish to be domesticated by humans. These species enjoy cool streams, lakes and ponds. They neither have stomachs nor close their eyes while sleeping. Some exotic types of goldfish species include oranda, ranchu and pearlscape. Goldfish types that can be commonly found are fantail, black moor, common goldfish and veiltail.

Swordtails

Swordtails have the reputation of being peaceful in normal environment, however they are also know to be aggressive towards other males. They are also known to make great pets for freshwater aquariums. Swordtails fries must be kept away from female swordtails, as it’s a common habit for these fish to eat the young ones. Prepared foods or live foods; both are their delicacies.

Neon Tetras

These types of freshwater fish fall among the schooling groups of fish. When kept in a fish tank, these fish form a group of six or more, and tend to produce a beautiful glow under proper exposure to light. Other types of these species are cardinal tetra, glowlight tetra and black neon tetra.

Bullheads

These freshwater fish have enormous head size of 10 – 20 cm and thinly-shaped bodies, with large pectoral fins. They got their name ‘bullheads’ from their wide flattened heads. They keep their entire life span limited to one stretch of river and can be regarded as ‘residential freshwater fish’. They prefer shallow water and living under stones, as they do not posses good swimming qualities. They feed mainly on invertebrates. Male bullheads become black in color and females become plump when they start the spawning period of their lives.

Minnow

Minnows can grow to as long as 9 cm and falls among the smaller types of freshwater fish. They have prominent large eyes, small mouth and blunt nose. They can be found in colors ranging from silver and grey to brown and yellow. These fish form an important part of trout diet and mostly dwell in the upper reaches of rivers. In case of these species, the back becomes black, the sides turn golden and the belly and lower fins appear bright red during their spawning season.

Carp

Carps are the common and major species of freshwater fish found almost all over the world. They thrive in ponds and have a large family of fish like the common or king carp, mirror carp, koi carp, carp bream, bighead carp, carnatic carp and crucian carp. Carp fish are associated with bringing good fortune to people in the Asian countries.

About 41% of the total known species of fish are freshwater fish and they spend their lives mostly in rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, etc. with a salinity as low as 0.05%. These were a few species of the different varieties and types of freshwater fish known today. As mentioned, different types have different needs and requirements with respect to their habitat and survival. This fact becomes important when it comes to keeping them as pets by beginners or professionals.

Sometimes you have to try different types of meditation to find the one that’s right for you.

There are so many different types of meditation. How many? Who knows, but enough so that you can find the one that’s right for you. To get your search started, here are six types of meditation you can try.

1. Breath watching. Can meditating be as simple as paying attention to your breath for a few minutes? You bet. Relax in whatever position works best for you, close your eyes and start to pay attention to your breathing. Breathing through your nose gets your diaphragm involved and gets oxygen all the way to the bottom of your lungs. As your mind wanders, just re-focus your attention on the air going in and out of your nose. Just do this for several minutes, or longer as you get used to it.

2. An empty mind meditation. Meditating can create a kind of “awareness without object,” an emptying of all thoughts from your mind. The techniques for doing this involve sitting still, often in a “full lotus” or cross-legged position, and letting the mind go silent on its own. It can be difficult, particularly since any effort seems to just cause more business in the mind.

3. Walking meditations. This one gets the body involved. It can be outside or simply as a back and forth pacing in a room. Pay attention to the movement of your legs and breathing and body as you walk, and to the feeling of your feet contacting the ground. When your mind wanders, just keep bringing it back to the process of walking and breathing. Meditating outside in this way can be difficult because of the distractions. If you do it outside, find a quiet place with level ground.

4. Mindfulness meditation. A practice Buddhists call vipassana or insight meditation, mindfulness is the art of becoming deeply aware of what is here right now. You focus on what’s happening in and around you at this very moment, and become aware of all the thoughts and feelings that are taking your energy from moment to moment. You can start by watching your breath, and then move your attention to the thoughts going through your mind, the feelings in your body, and even the sounds and sights around you. The key is to watch without judging or analyzing.

5. Simple mantra meditation. Many people find it easier to keep their mind from wandering if they concentrate on something specific. A mantra can help. This is a word or phrase you repeat as you sit in meditation, and is chosen for you by an experienced master in some traditions. If you are working on this alone, you can use any word or phrase that works for you, and can choose to either repeat it aloud or in your head as you meditate.

6. Meditating on a concept. Some meditative practices involve contemplation of an idea or scenario. An example is the “meditation on impermanence,” in which you focus on the impermanent nature of all things, starting with your thoughts and feelings as they come and go. In the Buddhist “meditation on the corpse,” you think about a body in the ground, as it slowly rots away and is fed on by worms. The technique is used to guide you to an understanding that your rationalizing mind might not bring you to.

There are many other meditations you can try, such as the “meditation on loving-kindness” or “object” meditation, and even meditating using brain wave entrainment products. Each type has its own advantages and effects. For this reason, you may find that at different times and for different purposes you want to use several different types of meditation.

Steve Gillman has meditated and studied meditation for over twenty years. You can find a good mindfulness exercise and subscribe to The Meditation Newsletter at: http://www.TheMeditationSite.com

Plastic has become one of the most versatile materials for making a whole range of products. Read on

Plastic has become one of the most versatile materials for making a whole range of products. Read on to know more about the different types of plastic.

Plastic has emerged as one of the most commonly known materials across the world. It is used for making various products, ranging from kid’s toys to spaceships. The versatility of plastic is due to the its physical properties like water resistance, relatively low cost and comparatively easy methods of manufacturing. It has replaced most of the traditional materials like wood, leather, glass, etc. We all are familiar with plastic and use it in various forms in our day to day life. But, most of us may be unaware of the different types of plastic. So, let us take a look at the various types of plastic.

Classification of Plastic

There are many different criteria to classify plastic. As per the chemical structure, plastic is classified into various types; acrylic, polyester, silicone, polyurethane, and halogenated plastics. If classified on the basis of properties, which affect the product design, it can be categorized into; thermoplastic, thermoset, elastomer, structural, biodegradable, and electrically conductive. Plastic can also be classified on the basis of method of production or physical properties. In short, there are various criteria for classifying plastic and it depends on the ultimate use. However, for a common man, most of these classifications are irrelevant. So, let us take a look at that method of plastic classification, which can be identified by ordinary people.

Types of Plastic and Plastic Recycling

Plastic is a material, which degrades very slowly. It is said that, it takes around 100 to 500 years for discarded plastic to get degraded naturally. This revelation led to the concept of plastic recycling, which was promoted by almost all nations. However, this method confronted various hurdles and one among them was different types of plastic required different methods of recycling and there was no universal standards to classify plastic, which is used in various products. It was in 1988, the SPI (The Society of the Plastics Industry) designed the symbol code for plastic classification. The symbol code consists of a triangle of arrows, inside which there are numbers ranging from 1 to 7. Most of us are familiar with this symbol embossed on plastic items like pet bottles, yogurt cups, etc. This system of classifying plastic is considered to be a uniform coding system, which helps both consumers and recyclers to differentiate between the various types of plastic. Apart from that, it gives a clear idea about which plastic is used for manufacturing that product. Read more on:

How is Plastic Made

Plastic Types as per Number Coding

Now, we know that plastic is classified through a number coding system which makes it easier to sort out different plastic items for recycling. The following are the different types of plastic, as per this coding system.

The coding symbols start with number 1 (i.e, a triangle of arrows with number 1 inside it). This plastic is polyethylene terephthalate (PETE) and the easiest one to recycle. Pet bottles, medicine containers, water bottles, etc. are made of this plastic, which can be easily recycled to fiberfill for winter coats, sleeping bags and life jackets and can also be used in making bean bags, furniture, etc.

Those plastic items coded with number 2 are made up of a high density polyethylene (HDPE). This plastic is mainly found to be used to make detergent and shampoo bottles, milk jugs, etc. This type of plastic is recycled to make rope, pipes, toys, etc.

Number three is assigned for those plastics, which are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It is often found to used in the manufacture of shower curtains, window and door frames, plastic pipes, automotive parts, etc.

Number 4 goes to those plastic items, that are made of low-density polyethylene (LDPE). This is found in sandwich bags, wrapping films, dry cleaning bags, trash can liners, etc.

Plastic items made of polypropylene (PP) are given the number 5. This plastic is used to make Tupperware, margarine tubs, microwaveable bowls, bottle caps, etc.

The next one is number 6, which is used to denote plastic made of polystyrene (PS) and is commonly known as Styrofoam. This plastic is mainly used in making coffee cups, meat trays, peanut packages, plastic tableware, etc. This plastic can be recycled to make a rigid foam insulation and many other items.

Number 7 is assigned to those plastics which do not fall under the categories of 1 to 7. These are not usually collected for recycling, as it is considered to be the most difficult category for recycling.

Now, you have a basic idea about the different types of plastic, which are classified according to the use and chances of reprocessing. Among them, the number 1, 2 and 6 are commonly collected for recycling, but, 3, 4, 5 are not recycled on a regular manner. Plastic items without numbers too are not fit for recycling. So, you can reduce the use of plastic or else, opt for those in category 1, 2 and 6.

There are many different types of home improvement, and it’s important to know what types there are to be able to plan future home improvements for your home.

Types of Home Improvement

Home improvement generally refers to building projects that change the layout of a home or alter the exterior properties of home such as the lawn, garden, garage or patio.

Home improvement projects usually have one or more of the following purposes:

Interior design for added beauty.

- Painting and wallpapering walls and ceilings.

- Installing flooring such as wood paneling, tiling, carpets, linoleum, or other flooring materials.

- Upgrading and repairing doors and windows.

- Installing new cabinetry for kitchens and bathrooms.

- Upgrading appliances such as sinks, bathtubs, fixtures for kitchens and bathrooms.

- Remodeling the backyard or front yard with patios, decks, porches or landscaping.

Repair

- Repairing electrical and plumbing.

- Roof replacement or fix-ups.

- Structural repairs caused by water damage or natural disasters.

Comfort Upgrades

- Installing new or improved heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)

- Upgrading bathrooms, music rooms and bedrooms with soundproofing.

Safety

- Fire system repairs or upgrades such as sprinkler systems, fire alarms, and other fire safety appliances,

- Home safety upgrades such as burglar alarms, security doors and security windows.

- Shelter installation or set-up for protection from earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes.

Home Additions

- Adding rooms to the home or adding an additional floor to the home.

- Converting unused space into usable space, such as converting one’s garage into a family room.

There are three ways to approach home improvement. The first way is to hire a general contractor who does the design plans, gets the appropriate workers to do the job, oversees the project management which includes coordinating schedules, ensuring the job is done properly and coordinating with the client to ensure the job is done as requested.

The second option is to hire the needed tradesmen to get the job done. For example if one wanted to do kitchen remodeling, they would contact an architect to draw up the plans, they would contact the construction works to do the necessary construction, and would contact the needed electricians, plumbers and other tradesmen necessary.

This second approach can work for small jobs like painting a room, etc., but isn’t recommended for larger jobs such as home additions, kitchen remodeling, etc. For large remodeling jobs, it is usually more economical to hire a general contractor to get the job done from start to finish.

The last option is a “do it yourself” approach. There are several major home improvement retailers which provide all the materials and tools needed for self home improvement. These stores generally supply informative books which help a person by using step-by-step layouts on the different types of home improvement.

The different types of pneumonia are dealt with, in short, in this article. Related information regarding symptoms and causal organisms should prove to be useful.

The medical condition of pneumonia is mainly characterized by inflammation of lungs. In this condition, alveoli of lungs get filled with fluid. The alveoli are microscopic air-filled sacs and the smallest part of lungs. Infection, resulting from viruses, bacteria or fungi, is the main cause of pneumonia. Difficulty in breathing, fever, cough and chest pain are the symptoms of this disease.Let us obtain information about the different types of pneumonia.

Different Types of Pneumonia

The types along with signs and symptoms of pneumonia are discussed in the following paragraphs.

Aspiration Pneumonia

This type of pneumonia results from inhalation of foreign materials in the lungs. Foreign material can be anything from food, drinks, secretions from the mouth, etc. In this condition, the patient experiences inflammation of bronchial tubes. The problem of inflammation can worsen into a condition where pus gets collected in the lungs. Following problems are the cause of foreign material aspiration by lungs: esophagus disorders (gastroesophageal reflux and esophageal stricture), swallowing problems, decrease in, or absence of, gag reflex. The problems in gag reflex are mainly observed in semi-conscious or unconscious individuals. More information about pneumonia symptoms in adults should be useful.

Mycoplasma Pneumonia

As the name suggests, causal organism in this type of pneumonia is mycoplasma. This kind of pneumonia affects people from all age groups. Severe cough which leads to mucus production is the main symptom in this health problem. Although, mycoplasma pneumonia affects individual from all age groups, children are more prone to it. Apart from the production of sever cough, other pneumonia symptoms include rashes, anemia, myelitis, meningitis and encephalitis. Information about walking pneumonia should be useful for readers.

Pneumocystis carinii Pneumonia

This type of pneumonia is named after the causal organism, Pneumocystis carinii. The Pneumocystis carinii is basically a fungus commonly found in our surroundings. This fungus attacks the body of those with a weakened immune system. People suffering from HIV/AIDS and cancer can contract the infection. Those individuals who have undergone transplantation of bone marrow/solid organ too, are susceptible to this infection. Immune system of patients under the treatment of chronic corticosteroids gets weakened and fungus can also attack these individuals. The information about pneumonia recovery time should be useful.

Types of Pneumonia in Infants

Based on the causal organism, viral and bacterial pneumonia are also the types of pneumonia. Infants and children are especially susceptible as they have a weak immune system. The types of pneumonia in infants are discussed below.

Bacterial Pneumonia

In most cases of bacterial pneumonia, streptococcus pneumonia is the causal organism. Main symptoms in this form of pneumonia are as follows: rapid heart beat, fever, irritability, restlessness and fatigue. Labored breathing and coughing are the other bacterial pneumonia symptoms that are generally observed. Since, the infant faces difficulty in breathing, symptoms like sinking chest and flared nostrils too, are observed. In some cases, pneumonia symptoms in babies also include diarrhea and vomiting.

Viral Pneumonia

The Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) or adenovirus is the causal organism for this medical condition in most cases. Symptoms that are mainly observed in viral pneumonia include, fever (moderate to high), labored breathing and production of cough that contains white mucus in small bits. Loss of appetite, irritability and lethargy are other symptoms of viral pneumonia. Reading about pneumonia treatment should be of some help.

The information about different types of pneumonia presented in the article makes us aware of the associated symptoms and causal organisms. Pneumonia, if not controlled in a timely manner, can turn into a fatal disease. One should therefore, consult a doctor, in order to take the necessary treatment.

‘Dreams’, the word itself creates a subtle subject of interpretation and illusion. This article is an attempt to present a description on the different types of dreams which people come across in their day-to-day lives.

Dreams are among the myriad mysteries of Nature which still stay unraveled and hidden from the light of discovery and openness. Dreams have no definition to characterize them, nor do they have any definite identity. They are always there in all our lives, but they are still like a stranger, unknown and questioned! Some attribute dreams as a channel which let away all such elements of the mind which lay trap in darkness, while we are conscious. They may be regarded as a show case of the semi conscious state of the mind, which gets lightened while the body sleeps. On the other hand, for some, dreams serve as mere recaps for all that we touch, see, feel, hear, think and all that goes on while we are awake. Some dreams are funny and some scary. Some make sense while some seem to be completely lost in the ocean of confusion. The concept of dreams is something like a shadow behind a screen. We can identify the shape and the movements, but we remain helpless in getting close to its real identity. The following puts forward some of the major and different types of dreams, which have been analyzed by experts.

Different Types of Dreams and What They Mean

Lucid or Understandable Type of Dreams

As the name itself suggests, these dreams are able to present an almost clear picture of themselves to the dreamer. Lucid dreams lie under the realization of a person and so he is aware that he is dreaming. Lucid dreams are controllable by the dreamer and the incidents which might take place is such dreams are somewhat maneuverable. For instance, if you are dreaming about crossing a river, then you might decide to get a boat to do so, rather than crossing the river unintentionally.

Telepathic Type of Dreams

Telepathy is defined as an apparent communication from one mind to another without using sensory perceptions and this is what forms the basis of telepathic dreams. In these types of dreams, there is a an involvement of a misty and an unspoken language. This language acts as an abstract carrier of messages, from one’s thoughts to another’s in dreams. These dreams serve as hidden channels of communication between individuals who are close to each others; such as in the case of soul mates. There have been cases where some people have dreamed about something which is similar to the one of the person next to them in bed. There also have been incidents wherein, a person has shared a similar dream with another who is miles away.

Predictive Type of Dreams

Predictive dreams are the ones about which experts have their say as to be cautious about or pay heed to. They may be indicative of something which might be dragging your mind to somewhat in the future. Predictive dreams are an apt example of what most people say that their dreams have come true. Scientists attribute such dreams as a mere subject of coincidence. For example, on the night before a long journey, you dream about your accident. Now, it would be unwise or may be irrational if you cancel the trip, merely blaming the dream. It might be your fear of traveling which have led to dream and unconsciously imagine the accident. Like wise, for instance you dream that the car in which you are going to travel is red and has the name of the driver written on it. The next day, you are about to be picked by the same red car bearing the driver’s name. Now, you might have some good reasons to be worried about. But again, according to statistics, such incidents are a mere play of coincidence. However, dreaming about something which you have never seen before, is also a subject to be concerned about. That is the reason why, predictive dreams should not be taken for granted, but at the same time, should be persuasive enough if they have to be considered seriously. Know more on what causes dreams.

Nightmares

Most of us might be familiar with nightmares and most people might have also underwent them. These types of dreams are usually disturbing and often leave the dreamer anxious and frightened after waking up. Nightmares often leave their imprint of their incidents and happenings on the dreamer’s mind due to their frightening nature. What causes nightmares? According to experts, these types of dreams are a manifestation of some issues or situations which you have been avoiding or running away from. Often people tend to overlook several unsolved issues in their lives and these issues begin troubling the unconscious mind. So it can be inferred that nightmares serve as a guide which persuade you to face your troubles and find a solution for them. It is unlikely that such dreams will showcase the exact situations which you have been avoiding. However, they will give you hints clear enough for you to understand that it’s time that you pay attention to all that is worrying you and affecting your life. Causes of bad dreams such as nightmares may also be related to some terrible experiences which the dreamer might have had to face and is not comfortable to discuss with anyone. Nightmares should not be interpreted as ‘bad’ dreams. Try to get closer to them and you will realize that they are your friends, helping you and guiding you to face your fear head-on!

Here’s lot more on:

Types of Nightmares

Nightmares Every Night

Repetitive Types of Dreams

Dreams which reoccur more than once and do not seem to be unfamiliar to people are known as repetitive dreams or recurring dreams. Such dreams are common and they are important to whoever dreams them. They are kind of a message bearer about the dreamer’s procrastination or ignorance about certain things. They indicate that there is something very important, which the dreamer must understand and must accomplish for his own safety. For instance, a student is well aware that if he does not study well before his exams, it is most likely that he will end up his career in a bad place. However, the student pays no heed to this and overlooks his studies. Now, the fear of ruining up his career is somewhere imprinted in the unconscious mind of the student and this very fear manifests itself through recurring dreams. So, until the student starts focusing on his studies, such dreams will keep recurring from time to time. This was, however, a simple example. In some cases, it might become challenging to determine the meaning of such dreams. In such cases, visiting a psychoanalyst is a viable option to consider.

Know more on:

Dream Interpretations

What Causes Dreams?

This should do it for this article on the types of dreams and their meanings. There may be several other categories or sub categories of dreams and why not? Every individual has a unique thought process. “When dreams are happy, they are meant to be cherished and enjoyed. And, when dreams seem to be troubling you, it means that they are urging you to notice them and turn them into happy and delightful dreams, as well!”

For the uninitiated, there is no difference between a pimple and a blackhead, but in reality there are different types of acne. Acne is an inflammation of the skin and the condition is quiet common.

Millions of people suffer from an outbreak of acne and the condition is easily treatable with some over-the-counter products and home remedies. There is no, one definite reason for acne and hence there is no single product that can be used for everyone to treat this skin condition. One of the reasons that people experience is the out break of different types of acne is that different people have different skin tones.

Most people get acne when they hit puberty because this is the time when our bodies go through hormonal changes. Another reason for acne is that our skin has sebaceous glands which secret oil to moisturize the skin, and when these glands are stimulated excess oil is released causing acne. You will also get acne when the skin pores get blocked by dead cells and infected with bacteria. Although there are different acne types and treatment methods, a good skin cleansing regimen will guard you against acne breakout.

Different Types of Acne

Most of us will get acne during our lifetime and it is useful to know the various types of acne and treatment options. Usually, a good skin cleansing regimen that involves exfoliating the skin with masks or scrubs and the use of anti bacterial soap is enough to deal with most types of acne. For some acne types, you will have to visit your dermatologist who might prescribe you some antibiotics. As there are different kinds of acne there are different types of acne scars, for example, rolling scar, boxcar scars and keloids. Some of the acne types are :

Acne Vulgaris

It is the most common acne types and is experienced by millions of people, it is an easily treatable skin condition. Blackheads which are caused due to the oxidation of melanin and whiteheads which are a collection of sebum and dead skin cells are some of the common forms of acne vulgaris.

When your skin pores are blocked with dead cells, bacteria and sebum, you will get red bumps on the skin known as papules a form of acne vulgaris. Pustules are also a form of acne vulgaris and they are filled with pus. In some cases, there is a formation of nodules which are large painful pimples. It can be treated with over the counter products and home remedies.

Acne Rosacea

This type of acne has similar skin inflammation and signs as acne vulgaris, but you will also have an accompanying rash on your cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. It is also known as adult acne and is more common in women than in men. The blood vessels will be visible in some cases of acne rosacea and there will be no blackheads. If untreated it can lead to rhinophyma which is the growth of excess tissue. Visiting a dermatologist for treatment is essential for this type of acne.

Acne Fulimans

It is a rare type of acne compared to acne vulgaris and is mostly found in men. This type of acne can lead to extreme scarring and painful nodule growth. What sets this type of acne apart is that it is accompanied by fever and joint pains. As this type of acne does not respond to antibiotics doctors will prescribe oral steroids.

Acne Conglobata

One of the most feared forms of acne from the point of cosmetology, it can cause severe lesions and permanent scarring. Acne conglobata mostly affects men and is characterized by interconnected lesions that may have several blackheads. It causes severe skin damage and your dermatologist will put you on isotretinoin, a drug which slows down the production of skin cells, and also acts as an anti inflammatory drug.

Pyoderma Faciale

It comes on suddenly and mostly affects women who are in the age group of 20-40. The affected persons skin will be infected with painful pustules. Another aspect of pyoderma faciale is painful sores and nodules across the face. For acne control doctors will most likely put you on steroids and isotretinoin.

Gram-Negative Folliculitis

Like most types of acne in gram negative folliculitis, you will have pustules which are red in the bottom and filled with pus. It affects both men and women and it can be a painful condition. Cysts will be formed as a result of bacterial infection and you will need to visit a doctor for treatment. Like the other severe forms of acne this acne type is also treated with isotretinoin.

Now that you know a little about acne types and causes of acne you must have realized that preventive measures are a must to avoid the onset of different types of acne. Some of the preventive steps you could take are washing the face at least twice a day, with a mild anti bacterial soap, using water based or gel based cosmetics.

Different Types of Alcoholic Drinks

There are three general categories of alcoholic drinks. They are:

Beer

Wines

Spirits

Beers

Beer is probably synonymous with alcohol. It is widely consumed throughout the world and is a part of several world cultures. Beer is produced by fermenting and brewing different starches of cereals like wheat, maize, corn and rice. But the most popular is malted barley. To lend beer its characteristic bitter taste, hop cones are added. They also act as preservatives for the beer. The alcoholic content of beer is around 2% to 4%. But in some, it can go up to 20% as well.

Alcohol Content of Beer

Beer Brewing

The two main types of beers are Lager and Ale. The difference between Lager and Ale beer is the different temperatures at which they are fermented. Ale beers are fermented between temperatures of 60-70 degrees F, where as Lager beers are fermented between 50-58 degrees F. This leads to different levels of ester compounds which either lend a rounded fruitiness to the drink (ales) or a clean, crisp and angular feel (lager).

There are several other categories of ales and lagers. Some of these are: Brown Ale, Dark Ale, Kolsch, Pale Ale, Mild Ale, Old Ale, Wheat beer and Bock, Dunkel Lager, Dry Lager, Pilsner, Vienna Lager, Marzen, Dopplebock, etc. Read more on health benefits of beer.

Wines

Wines are very popular in several cultures and are used as an accompaniment with many foods. They lend a different flavor to the food if teamed with the right kinds. Wines are mostly made from grapes. These grapes are crushed using different types of yeast. The yeast is responsible for converting the sugars from the grapes into alcohol. The fermentation process that is involved in brewing wines is longer. It could be aged for several months or even years. The more it is fermented, the better it’s flavors run. The alcoholic content of wines is around 9%-16%.

Wine Making

Wines can be divided into two categories Red Wine and White Wine. But that is not the end of it. Wines are not limited to these two categories but run into several types. The reason being that wines are named after the types of grapes that are used to make them or the region in which they are made. The determining factor of whether a wine is red or white depends on if the skin of the grape is included in the fermentation process or left out.

Spirits

Spirits is the term given for the type of drinks that are unsweetened and distilled. They are made by distillation of an already fermented product that results in the formation of alcohol. The content of alcohol in spirits is 20% and above.

There are countless drinks that fall in the category of spirits and are colloquially referred to as hard drinks. These drinks have a high alcoholic content in them and therefore can ‘hit’ the person very hard if not consumed with care. The effect of these drinks can be lessened by diluting them with certain mixers like soda, energy drinks, aerated drinks or bottled water. They can also be consumed in their purest form without mixing them with anything.

The more popular types of spirits are:

Whiskey

Whiskey is made by fermenting different cereals such as corn, wheat, barley and rye. The alcoholic content of whiskey is about 40%-50%. The term ‘scotch’ has become synonymous with whiskey. Scotch Whiskey was originally made in Scotland and is marked as one of the best good quality whiskeys. The types of whiskeys are: American Whiskeys like Tennessee Whiskey, Bourbon Whiskey, Single Malt, Rye Whiskey, etc. Read more on whiskey types.

Rum

Rum is a distilled drink that is made from fermenting sugarcane or molasses. It is then stored in oak barrels for over 30 years but sometimes even less. The alcoholic content of rum is 40%-55%. The popular types of rum are Black rum, Dark rum, Aged rum and Amber rum. Read more on

Brandy

Brandy is another form of distilled drink that is made from fermenting wine (this wine is made by fermenting grapes). Therefore, brandy is made by fermenting fruit juices. The alcoholic content of brandy is 30%-60%. The types of brandies are Grape brandy, Fruit brandy and Pomace brandy.

Gin

Gin is made by fermenting juniper berries. It comes in a combination of alcohol, water and several flavors. The alcoholic content of gin is 37%-40%. The most popular gin is martini and other popular drinks include gin and tonic, Gimlet and Pink Gin.

Liqueurs

These are made by adding flavors like fruits, herbs, creams and spices. They are usually sweet and have an alcoholic content of 15%-30% but it may even go up to 55%. These are usually consumed in small quantities post dinner. Some popular liqueurs are Chocolate Liqueurs (Lady Godiva), Coffee Liqueurs (Kahlua), Cream Liqueurs (Bailey’s, Amaretto, Tia Maria), Fruit liqueurs (Grand Marnier, Cointreau, Curacao), etc.

Tequila

Tequila is made from a plant called the blue agave that is mainly harvested in the Mexican country. The alcoholic content is 35%-40%. It is stored in oak barrels to bring out its flavors. Tequila is usually consumed straight, that is without adding any mixers to it. But it can be had the other way round as well.

The higher the content of alcohol, the stronger the drink. Therefore, one has to be extremely careful in the way they consume alcohol. An occasional is usually acceptable, but taking it to the levels of addiction is never appropriate.

Do you want to know what the different types of governments are? In this article, we tell you what are the different systems of governing bodies in the world.

“If human beings are fundamentally good, no government is necessary; if they are fundamentally bad, any government, being composed of human beings, would be bad also.” – Fred Woodworth

Since human beings are neither completely bad nor completely good, there is a necessity for governments – A group of people or a single person who takes decisions that affect the socio-economic and political growth of a country. These governments define a country’s relationship with another nation. In a world which is slowly condensing and merging, it has become important to understand the different types of governments that exist. In this article, we try and help you understand the forms of government.

Different Types of Governments

What are the different types of government systems in place? The sheer number of countries in the world is reflected by the different types of governments. From countries that are governed by religious heads to countries where the people elect the government, there are many types of governments. Given below is a table that lists the main types of governments.

Types of Governments

Government Type

Description

Anarchy

Whether or not, this can be listed under types of government can be debatable but it is a state in which there is political discord and disorder. There is no authority to ensure lawlessness and there is complete absence of any form of authority in the form of a government. A state of anarchy generally emerges when there has been a civil war in the country, and there are groups fighting amongst themselves to gain control.

Communist Government

Based on the economic-political ideology of communism, a government that follows communist principles is often authoritarian and holds supreme power. There is abolition of any form of private ownership. The main aim of the government is to create a society where the goods are shared equally by all. The aim of a communist government is a society that is classless.

Democracy

In a country that has a government that functions on democratic principles, the power lies with the people. There is certain age limit over which every citizen is eligible to vote for representatives who run the country. Therefore, the supreme power lies with the people of the country. Elections occur on a periodic basis in a democracy and if the people are unhappy with the representatives they have elected, then they can always vote for new representatives.

Dictatorship

While generally a dictatorship refers to a form of government in which the absolute power of running the country lies with one person, sometimes the power can be helped by a small group of people. In most dictatorships, the person ruling the government would have taken over by force and therefore, would not be an elected representative. There are many countries in the world today that are run by military dictatorships in which the army of the country has taken over the government.

Ecclesiastical

This is a form of a government where all the legislative, judicial, and executive decisions are administered by the church. Similar to a theocracy, god is considered the state’s highest authority and its supreme ruler. The officials running the government are considered guided by the divine.

Federal Government

A federal government is one of the main types of government prevalent in several countries around the world. The power is divided between a government with central authority and a number of different governments that run constituent states or regions. Each smaller government retains powers on a number of internal affairs and works with the central government on matters of national importance.

Monarchy

This is probably one of the oldest of the different types of government. The supreme power when it comes to ruling a government lies not with a group of elected representatives but a royal who sits on the throne due to his hereditary right to do so. There are some countries where the monarch is a constitutionally limited ruler sharing power with a government.

Oligarchy

It is a type of government where the power of ruling the country lies with a societal group that is set apart by the power it possesses either because it belongs to the royal family or because of the wealth that it possesses. Sometimes this group could come to power also because of its sheer military strength. The influence that this core societal group possesses passes from generation to generation.

Republic

It is one of the types of government in which there is a head of the government who is not a monarch but a representative chosen by the elected deputies of the people of the country. It is a form of representative democracy where the elected legislators vote for the head of the government.

Totalitarianism

One of the types of government in which the government holds supreme power and tries to rule the citizens of the country forcing them into subordination. They do this complete control of economic and political issues. They also retain control on the belief system of the entire population.

Transitional

In certain countries, there is occasionally a form of government that comes to power to legislate the country only because the country is between two types of governments. For example in some cases, there are governments that choose to become a democracy after years of being ruled by a dictator. In the interim period the government in power is called a transitional government.

Hopefully, this list of different types of governments has been helpful to you in understanding how different countries are ruled and what is the political ideology in place.

Oshizushi: This type of sushi has its roots in Osaka (Japan), where, people started the practice of using wooden molds for pressing sushi. In case of this sushi type, the ingredients are placed inside a wooden mold, called oshibako. The bottom of the mold is lined with toppings, which are covered by sushi rice. These contents are then pressed with a lid, so that it forms a rectangular block, which is then sliced and served as bite-sized pieces.

Nigirizushi: This is a popular sushi type, wherein sushi rice is rolled into small oblong balls and is served with wasabi root (a thick green root of the wasabi plant that tastes like horseradish) and toppings, which are usually thin slices of fish like tuna, salmon, etc. In some types of nigirizushi, the rice and toppings are bound by a thin strip of seaweed, known as nori. This is mainly seen in nigirizushi with toppings like octopus, sweet egg, squid, freshwater eel, etc.

Makizushi: Makizushi, which is otherwise known as makimono is mostly seen as cylindrical pieces. This type of sushi is made by wrapping the ingredients in nori and then rolled (in cylindrical shape) in a bamboo mat called makisu. Once it is set, it is sliced into pieces and then served. There are various types and subtypes of makizushi, which vary with the different types of filings, shape and size of the slices, etc. They include futomaki (mostly vegetarian and big slices), hosomaki (with one filling, either vegetable or fish and small slices), kappamaki with cucumber filling, tekkamaki with raw tuna filling, tsunamayomaki with canned tuna and mayonnaise, etc.

Inarizushi: This sushi is a little different from the conventional sushi in looks. This sushi type is a pouch of fried tofu that contains plain sushi rice and no other ingredient. In some regions, tofu is replaced with a thin omelet.

Chirashizushi: This type of sushi (otherwise known as barazushi ) is served in a bowl, in which, all the ingredients are mixed or arranged. As compared to other types, preparing this type of sushi is very easy. The ingredients in this sushi may vary from one region to another. One of the subtypes of this sushi is called gomokuzushi, in which both cooked and raw ingredients are mixed with sushi rice. Another subtype is Edomae chirashizushi, which consists of a bowl of sushi rice, topped with cooked and uncooked ingredients. Read more on sushi recipes and how to eat sushi.

The above said types of sushi are mostly the traditional varieties or those derived from traditional ones. However, there are many other versions of sushi, designed to satisfy Western food lovers. These are mainly available in the form of rolls and there are many types of sushi rolls too. Sushi roll types includes the; Caterpillar roll (with avocado, cucumber and other ingredients); Dynamite roll (yellow tail fish, bean sprouts, carrots, mayonnaise, etc.); Philadelphia roll with cooked salmon, cucumber, onion and cream cheese; California roll with avocado, crab stick, seaweeds, rice, etc.; Rainbow roll made of various types of sliced raw fish; Louisiana roll with blue crab, craw fish, mayonnaise, hot sauce, etc.

Now, you have a basic idea about various types of sushi. The above said are only some of the popular sushi types. A conclusive list cannot be made easily, as there are limitless versions of sushi. You have to experiment with the different types, in order to find out the best ones.
