Kolaj Magazine is a quarterly, printed magazine about contemporary collage.

We are interested in how collage is made, how collage is exhibited, and how collage is collected. We cut and paste critical reviews and essays with artist profiles, event highlights, and articles on techniques and materials. We provide quality exposure for contemporary collage art.

Kolaj is published in Montreal, Quebec by Maison Kasini.

And below, I painted [on the Note] the head and put it on the big cat image from the Naturalist’s Library. I think I started out with the intention of drawing the head of a bear but it doesn’t look much like one. The image from the Naturalist Library is a hybrid between a lion and tigress, the head I have painted is what a hybrid of a bear and tiger would look like.

The following idea is designed to support children in producing a digital collage without the aid of an art package.
In planning this session first select a website, this needs to be chosen carefully and could link with a particular area of study that the children are working on. Migrate to The Now have selected http://www.dulux.co.uk (clearly no direct link to school curriculum!). The website will be used to source different screen shots from to use to produce the collage.

Screen Shots: There are a number of different tools available that facilitate “grabs” from screen shots. Chrome have a tool bar attachment available but have a play around and find the best suitable for your school network / system.

The children will then be challenged to create a collage using screen grabs from the chosen site. This collage should in some way link to the original site (creative thinking essential!).

The usual rules apply… Try it out, rule it out or add your own twist

Over the last couple of months I’ve been working on a series of etchings that combine traditional process with digital printing.

I’m pretty pleased with the results so far, I’ve spent more time on this particular print (working out registration problems and experimenting with composition) then I have on any other print I’ve ever made.

Fusing the old with the new has really cemented my love of print making.

I’m hoping to add this print and the others in this series to the body of work I am creating for my graduating exhibition.

Last Friday my younger son and I walked home from his preschool and there it was: fluttering by, a very yellow butterfly. ahhhh It’s almost May, I think that was the longest I had to wait to see a butterfly… we always lived more South than we do now. Everything takes a little longer to get into Spring spirit, it seems.
