While not necessarily my most well liked appliance, my digital scale definitely sees the most use.

While not necessarily my most well liked appliance, my digital scale definitely sees the most use. Whether I’m making cold-brewed coffee, French Toast or cold cereal, I always use my scale. I seldom have to worry about measuring cups, and if I need to scale a recipe, grams are much easier than cups or tablespoons.

I’m currently using a “Good Cook” brand scale from Walmart that serves me well. It only weighs in even grams, but that is precise enough for my purposes and it has a good response time. My sister has a more expensive model that she likes and has given to several people as a gift. I had one and the 4 second delay before the weight changed was unacceptable for my purposes.

Most food packages list serving sizes in both volume and weight. Just check the label and grab your scale.

A COMMON PROBLEM FOR TRAVELLERS: Unless you know the weight of your luggage, you could be charged with high excess luggage charges while checking in.

OUR SOLUTION: The New Balanzza TOO BZ300 Digital Luggage Scale is perfect for travellers. It can help frequent flyers avoid excess luggage charges. The NEW MODEL now also incorporates a simple-to-use Timer Alarm and a convenient Flashlight!
The luggage scale’s primary purpose is to help you stay within the airlines luggage weight restrictions and to manage your baggage load, before you leave for the airport. If your bags are over the allowance, you may be charged up to $48 PER KG excess luggage on long haul flights to London making the Balanzza a very wise investment.

The Timer Alarm allows the user to simply set up a countdown time for the alarm to sound either to wake up for an early flight or from a quick nap with no need to figure out how to use the Hotel Alarm Clock.

The LED Torch is a great convenient tool in case you run into a blackout in your hotel or while traveling, or simply want to walk around your hotel room without disturbing your companion by turning the lights on.

So, I lied. I haven’t been upkeeping this blog very well. Don’t ask me why because I don’t know. I have no reason other than pure laziness.

Here’s some things you’ve missed while I’ve been away.

I have gained 5 lbs since August

I haven’t been to the gym since August

Operation MMLM will NOT be undergone (?)

I’m a jack-tard

Ok, so one fine day in August I went to the gym early in the morning and worked out REALLY REALLY hard. I ran a lot and just kicked MAJOR ass. I was so proud of myself. Then I walked to work! A coworker of mine asked me if I wanted to go walking after work and I said YEAH! I mean, come on, another chance to get my sweat on? I was really starting to enjoy working out.

Unfortunately it came to a pretty quick halt. I got off work an hour before my coworker and so I waited for her around the store. While waiting for her I noticed a suspicious looking kid with a pack of lighters. He was probably about 15 or 16, certainly not old enough to be buying lighters. So, I started following him. My friend spotted him in an aisle and motioned that he didn’t have the lighters. As he was heading toward the door I stopped him and questioned about the lighters. He said he laid them down somewhere, and I told him that he needed to show me where.

He lead us toward the back and stopped, grabbed his phone and started pretending like someone was on the other end saying that someone was hurt and he was like, “Oh my god. Is she ok?!” And tried to walk off. My friend stopped him and told him that he needed to tell us where the lighters were or she would call the police. So he confessed that they were in his pocket. I told her to go ahead and call the cops which is a standard procedure so we can get a “No Trespass Order” placed against them. The kid tried to leave but I stepped in his way. Then he charged into me, knocking me to the tile floor on my knee, and took off running. I was shortly behind him. I knew I wasn’t going to catch him, but I wanted to see which direction he was headed.

Well, nothing really came of it. They arrested the kid and I found out that he’s had MULTIPLE assault charges on cops, and theft warrants. They arrested him a month later and he was back out on the streets the next day.

Welllllll him knocking me to ground ended my gym career for a while. I landed on my knee on the hard tile floor and it really messed it up. I couldn’t go up steps without nearly bursting into tears. And it’s only until now that it hasn’t bothered me. So, almost 3 months now. It still gives me problems when I’m driving or if I sleep funny.

As far as the gaining of 5 lbs, yeah that’s due to some baaaaad choices on my part. Because I wasn’t excercising I wasn’t eating right either. My bad.

Operation MMLM? Don’t worry, it’s nothing. I was seeing this guy named “M” but it fizzled out pretty quickly.

Anyhoo, I’m going to start going to the gym again here REALLY soon! I simply cannot wait!

Oh, side note. I do have to wait until I get a new MP3 player because some asshat stole my zen stone and my phone. I got my phone back but not my stone It’s ok, it wasn’t that expensive and all of my music’s on my computer…at least most of it anyway. I can’t run without music!

Ruby Gettinger 716 lbs

Ruby Gettinger has been on a journey to loose weight, and has shared this with the world through her reality television show, self titled “Ruby” on Style. Ruby has also written her own book titled “Ruby’s Diary – Reflections on What Ive Lost and Gained”. It is a book that is not only about the weight loss, but also the mental aspects and relationships – including Deny, a man who loved her but couldn’t get over the physical aspects of the relationship.

Ruby Gettinger 328 lbs

Ruby has currently lost 388 pounds as stated on Rachael Ray on Monday September 21, 2009. Her beginning weight was 716 pounds, and she has documented her weight loss journey in order to find the origin or the root of her weight loss problem. She said this is an addiction – mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional. Ruby says that come to find out it is 70% mental.

Rachael asked Ruby her biggest regret for televising this journey, in which she respond with two: biggest regret was she didn’t realize that not remembering her childhood was a problem and people have really reacted to this. The second part was when she realized the digital scale she was using was broken, telling her she weighed 323 pounds when in fact the doctor showed her weight as 357 pounds. She thought she had been loosing weight when in fact she was really plateauing and was extremely disappointed. At the end of the segment, Rachael Ray taught her how to make a figure friendly southern style meal.

Rachel Ray’s “Figure Friendly” Fried Chicken, Collard Greens, and Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Collards

Instead of a ham hock, use a smoked turkey wing or leg

Onion

Salt and Pepper

Collard Greens – pull greens off stem by hooking finger around greens and they will pull off stem

Vegetable or Chicken Stock

Simmer all ingredients in a pan for about 30 minutes

Sweet Potatoes

According to Rachael Ray, sweet potatoes are a ” Super Star” of vegetable department – very nutritious

Cut sweet potatoes into small squares and simmer until tender. Saute a banana and mash up in the bottom of the pot with olive oil. This adds flavor, sweetness and texture without the use of brown sugar. Add a little bit of chicken stock and/or buttermilk. Mix mixture with mashed sweet potatoes.

Fried Chicken

Instead of flour and an egg, turn the chicken in Dijon mustard and plain bread crumbs plus your own seasoning. Spray coated chicken with cooking spray and put on a baking sheet and cooling rack. Place on top shelf so it gets crispy and cool all over. Cook until chicken turns brown.

Ruby gave her seal off approval, stating that she felt like she was cheating but she wasn’t, and that it was the “Best Food Ever”.

Whiny excuses I know! And, I even made it to the 20 lbs mark. I lost 20 lbs. I was actually pert near 30 lbs until I gained some back when I stopped gymming it up. And started eating horribly. It’s going to change again. I just tend to go through this. Do really good, then slip, then do really good, then slip. It’s a vicious cycle.

I am planning on going again, so no worries. I just gotta make myself do it. It’ll be fine. It’s gonna suck and hurt, but it’ll be fine. I’m building a resistance to the pain. Woohoo.

OH, another reason why I’ve not blogged in SO long is because my computer had a virus and a friend of mine had to wipe everything off of it and reinstall junk. So, I had to wait like 2 weeks for him to actually get it and fix it lol.

Anyhoo, that’s all for now. I promise I will post more often! And what did I say if I disappeared again? You guys were suppose to email me! Tsk tsk.

Not really, but that’s really annoying. I only say that because I’m jealous. I wish I could read and jog, or use the pre-core at the same time but I can’t.

Anyway. Just a small update. I’ve lost another couple of pounds. I am currently at 221 lbs. So yay!

How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was great and fun-filled. My friend broke my finger as we were playing tether ball so that was awesome.

Yeah, sorry this is so short everyone. Lack of real typing abilities with this splint on. Just wanted to do a quick update. Love you all!

So, I’ve only been excercising for a week and already I’m feeling that “This is boring. I don’t want to do this anymore. My legs hurt.” attitude come on. It all started on Wednesday morning. I was at the gym doing my usual thing: Elliptical, then stretch, then walk/run on the treadmill. Well there was a pretty attractive, fit looking guy also doing the elliptical, which didn’t bother me. After I finished I started on the treadmill. Walked and then ran, and then walked, and then ran, you know how it goes. The guy gets off the elliptical and goes on the treadmill. I’m thinking, “Okay, that’s cool…he has the same routine as me.” Once he’s on the treadmill, he goes to 8.5 speed and runs, and didn’t stop.

That made me feel like I wasn’t doing enough. I realize that I’m progressing toward being able to run 8.5 speed without stopping, but the fact that I can’t do it NOW really pisses me off. So I stopped the treadmill and went back on the elliptical. I actually had to FORCE myself to do it for 10 minutes. Each minute seemed longer than the next.

So when I went back yesterday I, again, didn’t want to be there. I knew that I needed to but I didn’t put as much effort into it as I normally do. I still sweat through my shirt, but I didn’t think it was enough.

And it really didn’t help my esteem much when I weighed myself and say that I had GAINED weight. At least 5 lbs! I was furious and confused. I measured myself, and no change. So I pretty much felt like a BIG, FAT, FAILURE.

Until today, however. I decided that I needed a break from sweating and pushing myself hard. So I decided to swim. I’m really glad I did. As much as I love to feel sweat pour from my face, I really loved being in the pool alone more.

And it gets better. I weighed myself when I got home today before my shower. Yup, I dropped 6 lbs since last night!

Also, a quick sidenote

My best friend Thomas is home for the summer and he’s been going to the gym with me. Well a couple of people at the library, where he works, have decided we should have our own little “Biggest Loser” competition. We have a spreadsheet with our names on it, and for 8 weeks we are going to write down our weight. And every week we put in 2 dollars and whoever loses the most wins the money!

So there ya go. That’s a bit of an update

Warning: This post is image heavy. (Pun)

So, here’s the thing. I’m aware that I’ve not written on here in like, FOREVER. I’m aware that I weigh 3.6 pounds more than when I last wrote. And yes, I am cognitively aware that I look absolutely ridiculous in these teeny tiny shorty shorts that I’ve been wearing to bed, and sometimes around the house. Because my massive ass is consuming them! HAVE NO FEAR! I think I need to stop boohooing over crap and do something. I need to start going to the gym again. I need to start eating healthier and STOP drinking so much pop.

I AM going to lose weight and I AM going to be hot! No ifs, ands, or fat asses about it!

And now here is a compiled list of photos to help me “achieve” what I want. I understand that these aren’t very realistic, and I understand that they are airbrushed and photoshopped and crap, but dammit, I like the way it looks and if I want to aspire to look like that, who’s stopping me?

I want her hips

So yeah, just a few pictures to keep me motivated.

I CAN look like this, and eventually, I will!

If there is one thing that I love about my whole “Woman scorned” attitude is this, I’ll show you…you’ll be sorry…Pretty soon, you’re going to be the one kicking yourself.

I’m quitting WoW (World of Warcraft for those of you not in the know) and I’m going to use that money for my gym membership. I’m going to take my adipex as directed and I’m going to be so freaking hot, you aren’t gonna know what hit you!

I realize that this is a process, and here is what I propose. If you see me slacking off again, just send me a reminder. Say, “Hey, you haven’t posted an update in a while. Are you still going to the gym? Have you lost any weight? Have you slipped in your eating habits?” Yeah, so it’ll send me a notice in my personal email and I’ll be FORCED to read it…cus that’s how I roll.

It is amazing how much laundry there is. We may generally only consider the dirty clothes produced b

It is amazing how much laundry there is. We may generally only consider the dirty clothes produced by a family, at home. But there is actually a huge amount of laundry produced institutionally and commercially. Restaurants must launder their table cloths, napkins, and kitchen and server outfits. Although hospitals use many disposable items, they still require commercial washing of their bed linens and many other items. Hotels have a daily need to wash towels, sheets, items from their food facilities, and uniforms. These needs are repeated by many other institutions, schools and companies.

The weight of the laundry must be determined. For the best levels of efficiency, washing machines should be loaded with the correct weight. If they are underfilled, more loads will be required. This causes increased costs, and increased burdens on the environment in terms of water and energy usage. If they are overfilled, the machines may be unable to properly clean the clothes. It may also damage them.

Industrial scales are useful for weighing the laundry. Often, laundry carts are used. These may be rolled onto platform scales. Arlyn Scales manufactures a line of platform scales with a very low profile platform, making it much easier to roll the carts on and off. These electronic scales are built from aluminum, so the water and detergents that are present will not cause corrosion. The load sensors are made from a special type of stainless steel, which are also resistant from water. Furthermore, this type of load cell is much more resistant to damage that can be caused by overload or shock loading. If a laundry cart hits the laundry scale from the side, standard types of electronic scales may sustain damage. An additional feature of this laundry scale is a digital readout with over size numbers. It is easy to obtain an accurate weight reading, even if the scale operator is not standing right next to the digital scale.

This Scal Is Not Accurate Or Dependable! Don’t Waste Your $$$
I purchased this scale and it never did weigh accurately,as much as 6 ounces off. When you need exact weights, this is not the one for you. How embarrassing to go to the Post office and them weigh your prepaid pkg and show you it is not accurate, or even worse it comes back due to insufficent postage. It’s Cheap in Price and quality. Back here looking for a good scale today. Only rating a 1 star because something is required. Hope the trash diggers at the dump dont find it and think it is worth something.

I bought the scale for shipping. The price of the product was one of the lowest. I was worried about the performance of it, but when it arrived, it turned out great!

I bought this postal scale and power supply to help me send packages to customers and it does the trick! I am a home based business and I need accuracy!
The delivery was really quick (confusing emails from the seller about waiting 4-7 days) but I got the scale in 2!!

Hey hey! Yeah, it’s been like 2 months, I’m aware. I’ve been SO unbelievably lazy

Hey hey!

Yeah, it’s been like 2 months, I’m aware. I’ve been SO unbelievably lazy. I think I gained like all my weight back. Which I’m ok with at the moment. I did this to me, and I’m the one who didn’t go to the gym, I’m the one who decided that one more hot pocket wouldn’t be SO terrible. Anyway, it’s all good because I’m going to start working out again soon.

So, here’s what’s been going on in my neck of the woods.

I met a guy, very sweet, very nice, very cute He does, however, make me feel a little self-conscious about myself when I’m with him. Not that he intends to, but it’s just that he has like, muscles. I really don’t think he has much body fat on him at all. And he doesn’t eat much. So when we go out I’m eating like they’ve not fed me in weeks and he’s got a bird’s appetite! (Fun side fact, that colloquialism is fallacious since birds eat like twice their weight) Anyway. So yeah, he’s kind of inadvertently making me want to go to the gym.

I’ve been sick. No, not with Swine Flu. I dunno what it is exactly but I’m all coughy and nauseous. I went to the doctor, he gave me an inhaler, and get this, Adipex. So, once I’m done with being sick I can start bouncing off the walls when I work out!

I feel like a failure almost by taking adipex. I couldn’t do it on my own. I was too lazy to do it on my own. Perhaps I should just accept that fact and move on.

Italy is apparently DEFINITELY on. My mother gave me my old passport from when I was 2, I was SOOO cute. I’ll have to get a picture of it on here. So, I need to get my new one soon. The only thing stopping me from going is work.

OH! And in 2 weeks I will be in Missouri for a friend’s wedding! I’ve never met him before, we’ve been best friends for 3 years and he’s getting married and I’m totally going! I’m really excited!

Um. I’m inbetween books at the moment. I’m currently reading:

The Wonder Spot by Melissa Bank

The Last Summer (of You and Me) by Ann Brashares (apparently she wrote Sisterhood of the traveling pants?)

Dispatches from the Edge by Anderson Cooper (I actually just finished it tonight)

The Bermudez Triangle by Maureen Johnson

A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby

Good Things by Mia King

Talk to the Hand by Lynn Truss

Yeah, that’s a lot of books. And technically I’m only in between reading 1, 2, 4 and 6. 5 and 7 haven’t arrived yet. And here’s the thing, I read 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson and I wasn’t too happy with it. I REALLY want to like her writing but I just couldn’t! I’m HOPING that Bermudez Triangle will be better. If not then I give up on her.

Anyway, I just wanted to update and let you guys know that I’m NOT abandoning this, I’m just…on hiatus.

Hello! I know that it’s been like forever since I’ve updated this, and for that I since

Hello! I know that it’s been like forever since I’ve updated this, and for that I sincerely apologize. You see, I don’t know what the hell is goin on but I have nothing new to really talk about. Diet/weightloss wise I mean.

However you are in luck! Because I do have some newness going on.

The other night at work I thought I was having a stroke and/or going blind. You see, I had just come back from my break and when I did I noticed that my peripheral vision was nothing but BLURS. Almost static-like. It terrified me. As did the possibilities of 3 things. Thing 1: I thought I was going blind. Thing 2: I thought I was having a stroke. And thing 3: I feared I had diabetes. My mother had called me and we talked about it, and she thought my blood sugar was messed up. SOOO I made an appointment with my doctor and thankfully none of those things are it! Turns out, it was probably just a migraine. It made sense because I DID have a headache.

Anyway, enough of that stuff. On to more nonesense! I am suffering from insomnia. For no reason whatsoever I feel the need to NOT go to sleep. I feel really tired, even now, and I want to go to sleep but I refuse to. I don’t know why. I’ve done this since childhood, only now it’s becoming ridiculous. I end up taking naps in the middle of the day, or after work, and I’ll be out until 9 or 10 PM and then the cycle perpetuates itself.

It is currently 12:30 AM here in Indiana and I have no plans to sleep.

ALSO you may notice that I haven’t updated my scale pics for quite some time. The reason? Because I gained a lot of weight back. I haven’t been sticking to my diet, and I’ve not been exercising. And in fact, I’m pretty sure I ate EVERYTHING ON MY GOODBYE MY LOVER LIST!!!! Not all at once of course.

Ugh, this is soooo hard! I need to get serious about this again. And what’s worse is that my friend’s ex keeps asking me about it! He keeps asking me if I had a good work out and I lie and say yeah! He’s a runner, and that’s all cool and stuff, but damn if I just can’t get motivated to do ANYTHING. Not to mention that I’m now constantly tired from staying up all the time.

I could take some sleeping pills in order to go to sleep at a reasonable time, but the problem in that is taking the pills. I’ll be like, “If I take the pills at 9 I’ll end up asleep around 10 or 10:30 and that’s WAY too early to be in bed!” It’s like I have things to do that inhibit me from sleeping. You know what it was tonight? I deleted a bunch of dumb pictures off my hard drive. Yes, THAT is what’s more important than sleep.

ALSO, quick question that revolves around beauty. Ladies, don’t be embarassed to tell me this. Do you have a moustache? Like, I have a moustache. It’s gross, and I hate it. However, I don’t know what to do about it. It isn’t so obvious on top, but at the sides, it’s there…I don’t know what I should do. Should I get some cream? Shave it? Pluck it? I dunno…it’s gross. What do you do? Maybe I should have a beauty page? I dunno. I’m just throwing things out there. I’m also typing like a mile a minute, so if this blog doesn’t make sense then it’s not my fault. It’s the lack of sleep. Oh look, pretty unicorns in leotards and dancing rainbows! HAHAHAHAHAHAH!

No one ever texts me, or calls me. Isn’t that sad? I mean, I used to not be able to LIVE without my phone and now I just don’t even care. Get this. Out of 450 anytime minutes, I’ve used 38. Out of 1500 texts I’ve used 467. Isn’t that sad?! 38 minutes. When Paul and I were together we could EASILY surpass 3000 minutes a WEEK! Oh god, I just saw something even more sad. The lifetime calls on my phone is 87 hours. 87 hours! I’ve had this phone for nearly a year and only 87 hours. Look at your phone’s lifetime calls, see how many hours you have! I’m 21 and I have virtually no social life. Blah!

Ok, sleep is now setting in, and I’m probably going to lie in bed and draw, or write a letter. Anything to NOT go to sleep! Have fun dearies!

With a variety of styles and choices available, it can be difficult to get the right scale to meet your needs. Whether it is a basic bathroom scale or a specific scale for your healthcare facility, VitalityMedical.com has the perfect scale to meet your needs at the scale store.

Whether you spend a lot of time in the kitchen, or merely prepare food on occasion, you will have to

Whether you spend a lot of time in the kitchen, or merely prepare food on occasion, you will have to have a digital kitchen scale. But for more reasons than you may think.

A digital scale will ensure that no matter what recipe you are using, the ingredients will always be added in the precise amount. If your measurements are precise, your food will turn out exactly as you had planned. The incorrect amount of something can in effect kill the taste of whatever it is you are preparing.

And for people that create their own recipes, the scales are even more important. I’ll bet this has happend to you. you’ve just cooked a fabulous meal, but you can’t recreate it just because you do not have any idea how much of a particular ingredient you put in the pot. It can be disheartening to say the least.

At this point you may be thinking that you already own a tray and needle scale so you do not have to have a digital one. These scales are OK good, even if they are not as accurate as a digital scale. Do a little experiment and wiggle your old scale a little while the food is on it. I bet the weight changed a little also. The mechanism in these scales simply works this way. And reading where the needle is on those tiny markings on the scale can likewise contribute to errors. Simply put, these old scales will lead to more mistakes.

And if you happen to be dieting you really want the weight of the portions to be as exact as possible, whether you are measuring meat or fruit. If it is accuracy you need, a digital kitchen scale will make it easier to get.

But a digital kitchen scale has other advantages. Let’s face it, you don’t want to worry about math when you are preparing a meal. If you need to convert ounces to some other type of measurement, your digital scale can probably do it for you. Sure you can do this yourself, but who needs to hassle with that.

There are additional little features like that you can get. If it is a practical application that any cook can use, you’ll in all likelihood be able to get a scale that will execute it for you.

Just be sure to purchase one that utilizes a common battery size or long life batteries. And an automatic shut off feature is great because your batteries will last longer. Another important feature is a scale that is easy to clean. Hassle free clean up is essential because you are putting food on the scale. Sometimes raw food. Stainless steel is a good selection since it’s tough to stain, durable, and simple to wash.

A digital kitchen scale is a great addition to any kitchen. Your recipes will come out delicious because measuring is simple and precise. And if you are watching portion sizes you’ll always know exactly how much you are consuming.

To discover additional information about digital kitchen scales visit DigitalKitchenScales.org. You will also see about the many other types of digital scales available including the digital fish scale that is so important for any fisherman.
