No entiendo nada, dos años después de que Digitalism sacara su pedazo primer álbum llamado “Idealism”, y tres después de lanzarlo como Ep, ahora Digitalism saca vídeo para el tema “Jupiter Room” que para mi fue un grower en toda regla, ya que en el disco había de más destacables, pero esta terminó gustándome mucho, y por lo que se puede oir,  mantiene el tipo con tres años de antigüedad. El vídeo está dirigido por Scott Altman y se trata de una animación en 3D con coreografía de K. Knight. El tema, minimalismo alemán en estado puro.

The day after Marina’s epic Academy gig, all of us at The Clink headed off on a little road trip to Carlow for the Heineken Green Spheres gig. Guaranteed fun times ahead!

Thankfully the drive wasn’t too bad, and I can now tick off visiting Carlow on my life list of things to do. Seriously, what a bizarre & random little town. Now down to the good shit, the event itself.

Free bottle of Heineken on the way in, check. Rush to the back of the Dinn Ri complex to catch the first act – Marina and the Diamonds.

We got treated to Marina and the Diamonds for a second night in a row – sweeeet. She looked amazing as usual, atmosphere was a bit different to the gig the night before, as not everyone knew who she was. But she put on a freakin’ great show once again, and most definitely had a few more Emeralds as fans by the end of the set. Also how amazing was her giant diamond necklace? I want.

Next up were Miike Snow, and the place was packed before they came on. Six guys wearing white masks strolled on to the stage – wait a sec isn’t there 3 members in Miike Snow? Either way that’s pretty irrelevant – they lived up to the hype and rocked it live. Animal went down a storm, along with a few other album tracks & a lot of jamming. Plus a cover of Air’s “Kelly Watched The Stars”, which was pretty cool.

Digitalism were the last to play, and they were in the main area of Dinn Ri. Stayed upstairs for most of their dj set as it was so packed, they were pretty good though. On a side note, how crazy is that Dinn Ri venue? It’s frigging huge. I don’t know where in the venue I spent the majority of the night! If you were to get lost there, you’re screwed. Overall a great night though, hats off to the organisers – the place looked great & was loving the lighting behind the stages. My only complaint was when it came to 2am and they stopped serving I was by no means ready to head home yet.

Next day we left Carlow with a surprising lack of hangovers all round – back to Dublin round 4, and out again that night for round 3. Overall The Clink’s first official road trip = great success.

We at Make and Deux made the trek to the Dinn Ri complex in Carlow (not just five but seven venues in one, we’re told) last night for the Heineken Green Spheres Digitalism, Marina and the Diamonds, and Miike Snow show.

Now, unfortunately we didn’t make actually make it to Digitalism’s set (we were pleased to find out that it had only been a DJ set in the end), but we were front row centre for both Marina and Miike Snow’s sections of the night.

The venue itself was amazingly decorated by the Heineken folks, with a predictable green glow all over the venue and less predictable men dressed in what looked like either a green screen body suit or a gimp costume. Dinn Ri itself is absolutely huge, big enough to have two stages in fact; one for Marina and Miike Snow, and another for Digitalism.

Although we missed Marina at her show in Dublin’s The Academy just one night before, she didn’t hold back for her show in Carlow. Her set was a mixture of stuff from her Crown Jewels EP and a ton of new stuff that will likely feature on her forthcoming album.

She even treated the audience to two versions of Mowgli’s Road; one a stripped down piano version and the other in its release form. Apparently the Irish fans, or ‘Emeralds’ as we’re now known, thanks, apparently to Joey Kavanagh, get the Mowgli’s Road single first for some reason. Sadly Marina didn’t play my favourite Simplify, but, shit happens.

Miike Snow opened their energetic set with Burial (not Silvia as I thought in my drunken stupor), and only actually played about four or five songs (or seven, but who’s counting?) Fan favourites like Animal and current single Black & Blue were there, but a good 50% of the set was actually made up of the members just jamming with no clear end in sight. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I’d have liked to hear more from their debut album in the mix.

We stumbled upon/followed some of the members of Miike Snow after the gig, and managed to get Paula into a photograph with them (below). Despite claiming they were looking for somewhere that did ’shots’ (the bar menu for the night was Heineken or, well Heineken), the band retired to their room, or indeed ran away from us.

Jens Moelle – 50% of Digitalism – has a new single out Alan Braxe’s label – Vulture Music – which isn’t very often that happens.

In fact – so far Jens has only released two tracks under this banner, which were both out on Kitsuné., but now silence is broken and it’s a riot – people!

If you’re expecting tooth rattling, steam-rolling, indie-based, stadium Electro – as you would expect from Digitalism – you can draw a sigh of relief (I think we’ve been there!), and instead prepare yourself for some excellent coolness strutting along in a fashion like Retro/Grade.

“Theme From Palermo Disko Machine” (backed with “Vesuvio”) marches on like some left over part from “Theme From Midnight Express” with steely cold synth parts sliding along over a Spacey-Disco’fied groove with a nice acoustic bassline, which doesn’t swing too far away from anything Fred Falke would lay down.

It’s a brilliant lift-off, and certainly a much needed change to anything coming out of the Digitalism stable!

Following on from last weeks post about Heineken Green Spheres, we’ve just found out about an exciting new update for the next Heineken Green Spheres gig which is due to take place on 13th November -Dinn Ri, Carlow.

Swedish newcomers Miike Snow have just been confirmed for the gig, which already includes Digitalism and Marina and the Diamonds on the line-up.

Miike Snow burst on to the music scene earlier this year when their epic single ‘Animal’, and we’ve been fans of them since – we’ve even featured one of their tracks in our weekend tunage posts not so long ago.

I started writing a post about the Heineken GreenSpheres gigs there a few months ago, and i never got around to finishing it….but i’m just after spotting a bit of news that has prompted me to finish this long over dude post!

For those that have never heard of it, Heineken GreenSpheres is a series of free gigs that have been take place every few months. It was previously know as the Heineken Green Room Sessions back in the day – I first registered with the site way back in 2003 – won tickets to see Moloko play Trinity Rooms in Limerick, and have great memories from the night!

By registering on the site you’re automatically put into a draw to win free tickets for yourself and two friends to whatever gig is on at the time. Over the past year the likes of Friendly Fires, Casio Kids have played – and coming up this month (15th October) Peter Doherty will be in the Roisin Dubh, Galway.

The next Green Spheres gig has also just been announced ( and reason i’m writing this post!) – Digitialism and the lovely Clink favourite Marina and the Diamonds will play Carlow’s Dinn Ri on 12th November.

On Thursday I ventured up the M8 to Dublin to see one of my favourite DJ’s,Boys Noize, performing in UCD. It’s a source of constant frustration that the students union in UCD manage to get gigs such as Boys Noize and other big names while my own university, UCC, can barely manage to dig up decent student bands to perform. Still, it gives me a good reason to visit friends in Dublin and I’m always guaranteed a good night once I’ve escaped the monotony of Cork’s nightlife.

The venue was UCD’s student bar. A relatively huge bar lacking in any thrills, just a dancefloor, stage and bar. As a venue its perfect for this kind of gig although the crowd can be somewhat suspect. Last year I saw Digitalism perform there and it was much the same…enjoyable from a safe distance. Any sort of close proximity to the stage ensures an uncomfortable amount of bashing, punching, falling, jumping etc.

Once onstage the Hamburg native threw down an impressive set consisting almost entirely of tracks from his new album Power. Having only heard one or two new tracks on his MySpace I wasn’t altogether familiar with the set but got well into it all the same. The electro master seems to have again produced an album of hard-hitting electro/tech house which just makes kids want to go crazy.

I was a little disappointed not to hear favourites such as “&Down” or “Oh” but was still relishing the new tunes. The end of the set was suitable frantic, BN hinted at dropping his crowd favourite “My Moon, My Man” but instead blasted streets hit “Blinded by The Lights”.

Réveil difficile après 2 nuits très folles aux ososphères (Strasbourg). D’excellentes découvertes, de sublimes redécouvertes, des choses incompréhensibles, etc…

Je citerais : Elvis Perkins In Dearland (dont j’ai acheté l’album en rentrant à 6h du mat…), DJ Krush, The Orb, Beat Torrent, Digitalism, Scratch perverts, DJ Kentaro, Tambours du Bronx… et pleins d’autres. Aussi d’excellentes animations / oeuvres d’arts numériques et pleins de choses à voir.

16. Pop Art Blue – Zero 7

Finally some new stuff the UK kings of ambient, melodic pop! This one, released through RCRD LBL. It features a familiar formula that never fails to get us going; angelic vocals, folkey backing and an electronic overbeat.

15. Toxic Is Dead – Toxic Avenger

Two Toxic Avenger cds will be released through IHEARTCOMIX later this month. This track has the usual aggressive and dicey electro typical of the mean and industrial sound we are used to hearing from Toxie, however, I don’t think that this song is as a good as Escape.

14. Thunderbird – The Golden Filter

 Finally, a brand new track from Golden Filter! This has been a long time coming as we’ve all been waiting patiently since the smash hit album, Solid Gold. This track refers to the native legendary American creature that is meant to be all amazing and powerful. The 12′ will be out officially on November 16th through Dummy.

13. Another Likely Story (Neon Indian Remix) – Au Revior Simone

We love Au Revior Simone as it is, with their dreamy and melodic vocals with soft synth backing, but Neon Indian adds another dimension to this already very funky track. The release of this song has come at a perfect time as the weather warms up it could fit quite comfortably into your soundtrack for summer.

12. Night By Night – Chromeo

Dave 1 and P-Tugg, more commonly known as Chromeo have collaborated with Green Sound Label to get out their new track, Night By Night. This is Chromeo track is as fresh and funky as usual complete even with guitar and continuous drumming back beat. Sure to get you moving.

11. Warrior (XX Remix) – Magic Wands

Hailing from Nashville, Tennesse is the duo Chris and Dexy who met in 2006, but didn’t found Magic Wands until much later. Finally they have released their first EP, Magic, Love, Dreams. My favourite track off the EP has to be Warrior. There is something slightly alluring and captivating about this track and the XX do their usual thing to add an extra bit of magic to the track. Any synth-pop fan will love this.

10. Saga – Basement Jaxx and Santi

This is a collaboration of two of my favourite artists, so no surprise that it is an instant hit in my books. Basement Jaxx typically feature an element of fun in their tracks and Santi compliments it well with her off-reggae style of vocal. This result is a playful and upbeat sound for summer that is catchy and addictive.

9. I’m Not Gay (Heretic Remix) – Yogo!Yogo!

I’m not sure what to say about this track because I don’t know about it, other than that it’s very addictive and I highly recommend it. I don’t know much about the original song or what language it is, but this song is very addictive and funky and will go down a treat at 3a.m. Sunday morning.

8. Skeleton (Pance Party Remix) – Felix Cartal

We are loving Pance Party here at Je Danse, with his dicey and industrial dirty electro. Skeletonwas originally released by Felix Cartal on RCRD LBL. Pance Party said that they wanted to end the summer with something nasty and this remix certainly fits that description.

7.  Salt Air (Two Door Cinema Club Remix) – Chew Lips

I only heard Chew Lip for the first time a coupe of months ago, but I can’t even begin to describe how amazing they are. Salt Air in particular is a such a great song and Two Door Cinema Club add a nice synth boost over the original relaxed back music. This song is versatile and a must for any soundtrack whether you’re getting ready to go out or chilling out the morning after a huge night out.

6. I Want U (Jence Remix) – Azzido Da Bass

Best known for his club classic Dooms Night he has now hooked up with Coco Machete Records to release the trashy electro-house dancefloor smash hit I Want U. Digitalism’s Jence provides the vocals for this track and has released his own remix of it which features the more electro-punk style that has made Digitalism instant heroes in the indie-tech world.

5. I Think I Like It – Fake Blood

Finally Fake Blood have released another original track to replace MARS.

The latest is slightly different a sound to MARS but is becoming a favourite very quickly with more of a melodic, afrobeat tech influence. Luckily, the New York duo, Matt and Kim are returning to Australia on new years day for Field Day in Sydney, but rumours are that their tour may extend a bit.

We’re also loving their remix of Gossip’s, Love long Distance, and they main impressive the way they slip their name into every remix, which in case you didn’t know, is done solely by chopping already existing vocals from the song and piecing them together to say Fake Blood…how clever.

4. Your Heart Feels (Designer Drugs) – Thieves Like Us

It’s no secret that we can’t resist a track, mixtape or remix by Designer Drugs and this is no exception. It’s one of DD’s more techy remixes but features the addictive build ups and anticipation before dropping a chaotic blend of emotional vocals, mind-blowing electronic bass and psychedelic riffs.

The original track from Thieves Like Us was released by Play Music and gives you charging drums and killer synth but it goes without saying that once you hear a Designer Drugs remix, you can’t go back to the original without it feeling somewhat flat and lifeless.

3. Jeffer – Boys Noize

I still regard the Boys Noize remix of Justice’s Phantom II to be one of the best-crafted remixes of all time, so these guys always hold a soft spot in my heart. This track is very experimental featuring a range of different sounds including scratching and what sounds almost like hitting a chopstick against teeth.

As usual, Boys Noize are able to build this song up and down and create a sense of anticipation beautifully before they drop into the upcatching chorus in full. This is an absolute delight from start to finish.

Also loving the collaborations with Erol Alkan, a surprising combi but the results are electrifying…check out the new album, out on September 26th.

2. Strictly Game (Kids At The Bar Remix) – Harlem Shakes

This song begins with a dirty bassline to get you into the mood but then catches you off guard by entering an uplifitng fusion of melodic synth and choppy vocals, but don’t worry, it’s soon to get into the electro bassline. Harlem Shakes create this track originally bouncey indie-pop tune which is awesome in its own right, but remix duo, Kids At The Bar, give it the extra oomph that makes it classic (and worthy of second spot on our chart!)

1. Heads Will Roll (Ryan Nexus Remix) – The Yeah Yeah Yeahs

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are always great by themselves, but when Ryan Nexus took Heads Will Roll to his decks, the result was awesome.

Nexus adds a cruel and mean bassline to the song that well complicates the vocals. He started  mixing and creating mashups in 2001 and eventually founded a break label called Systematica Records in 2006. It’s taken him a while to now make his mark with this remix.

Now, teaming up with the Yeah Yeahs Yeahs has put his name in our books, I listen to this one on repeat!

ჩართეთ სიმღერა?! გრძნობთ შორიდან რაღაც, ახალი, ამოუცნობი,  საოცარი როგორ გიახლოვდებათ?! ეს new rave-ია მეგობრებო. უფრო სწორედ Klaxons თავისი 22-ე საუკუნის სიმღერით. ბიჭები მომავლიდან დაბრუნდნენ და ეს ტრეი მოგვიძღვნეს. მე პირადად მადლობელი ვარ მათი.

სიმღერა რომელიც გრძნობებითაა სავსე, გრძნობებით რომელიც 3 წუთი შენს გულში იჭრება, გონებას გიბინდავს და… დანარენი გემოვნების მიხედვით

1)TV on the Radio – Staring at the Sun

ვინც მიცნობს ეს არ გაუკვირდებოდა. ეს სიმღერა ჩემს პოსტებშიც არაერთხელ მიხსენებია. “ჩემი სულის მუსიკასაც” ვეძახი ხოლმე. ტრეკი არის ზუსტად ჩემი ოცნების სიმღერა. თითოეული სიტყვა, აკორდი, გიტარის ჩამოკვრა თუ ადებიმპეს ბგერა ყველაფერი გენიალურია.

Hay… Diesel y Música. Madrid y Fiestorro.

Mientras nos creíamos los reyes con el BAM, los Hives y Akron/Family, en Madrid, sin hacer mucho ruído, iban tramando la contraoferta, y nos ha explotado en la cara el aterrizage en la capital del D:U:M Festival dónde sólo puedes actuar si terminas tus conciertos empado en sudor e invitando el público a rebentar la sala.

Estos son; la megaconfiramción de última hora, Digitalism, Ezra Furman and The Haarpons, el Hot Chiper Alexis Taylor como dj, y,  mucho ojo con este nombre: HEARTSREVOLUTION, en la línia más experimental de Crystal Castles pero con un enfoque estético de su música a lo Justice, muy muy prometedores. No se olvidan de dónde se celebra y también está el TOP3 nacional de bestias del directo como son Mujeres-los Black Lips Patrios- y Crystal Fighters- los Heartsrevolution patrios – primeros puestos del concurso de maquetas de Diesel y, por supuesto, MENEO. Si encuentras una entrada, que valen 10€, y vas; barra libre hasta la 1h, con la misma barra libre pero gratis en dinoslorapido@gmail.com con nombre completo y unos buenos motivos.

Bang! me voila de retour, après 6 semaines en attelle ma main droite retrouve sa liberté et attend que ses tendons retrouvent une taille normale.
Bref plus rien qui ne me prive de sortie, donc voilà les quelques prochaines soirées que je vous conseille.

Du 25 septembre au 4 Octobre, les salles de concert du 18éme et des alentour proposent Festival attitudeindé. Une réelle occasion de découvrir la nouvelle scène parisienne et de se prendre une pinte entre amis et écouter de la bonne musique.
Je vous conseille particulièrement la soirée du vendredi 25 Septembre avec un live de The Mammy Novas groupe que j’adore et que j’ai déjà vu plusieurs fois (infos et critique de concert ici et le premier EP Introduction to Yogurt Rock a écouter sur CQFD et si vous aimez n’hésitez pas à voter! ).

Le samedi c’est le nouvel an belge alors quand on sait que Ghinzu, dEUS, Girls in Hawai viennent de nos voisins il y’a deux choix soit allez découvrir la scéne belge peu connu au TROIS BAUDET ou alors la soirée des belges à l’Elysée Montmatre avec un dj set de GHINZU a 22h30.
