Ivan Grozny has the distinction of being the first Tsar of All Roosia. He turned the state of Rus into Roosia the empire. And he knocked heads to make it happen.

You probably know Ivan Grozny as Ivan the Terrible. You probably know knocking heads to mean that you are mindlessly cruel.

Mr. Terrible built one of the Roosian Orthodox’ greatest churches, Saint Basil’s Cathedral. To insure that the architect would not outdo himself and design something even more magnificent, he blinded him.

Mr. Terrible had three sons: Ivan Junior (let’s call him Junior); Dimitry, and; Feodor.

Junior was Ivan’s oldest. He was groomed to be Ivan’s heir. However, that did not happen. One day, Ivan came upon Junior’s pregnant wife. Concluding that her attire was immodest, he attacked her, causing her to miscarry. Junior was not happy about what his father had done. However, as Ivan was explaining things, he accidentally clobbered Junior with his staff. He was just a little over exercised. Accidentally, he killed Junior.

Thank goodness Ivan had Dimitry, son number two. However, Dimitry was unavailable. Nobody knows for sure what happened, but it seems certain that either Ivan exiled him or one of Ivan’s rivals killed him in a palace intrigue.

That leaves as the heir to Tsar of All Roosia son number three, Feodor. But Feodor was an idiot.

Ivan the Terrible is one of Roosia’s great leaders. He is a role model. Many Roosian leaders try their best follow in his footsteps, even those Roosians who called themselves Bolsheviks. Stalin, who modeled himself after Ivan, built his empire on the backs of mindless cruelty and annihilated his Juniors by killing his intelligentsia. But for Ivanism, how else would you explain a country that would persecute Andrei Sakharov, oppress Gary Kasparov, or chase into exile the Russian born genius who co-founded Google?

I now read in the New Republic that Vlad Putin, an Ivan admirer, intends to introduce into the high school curriculum a new history text, a tendentious account of Roosia’s glorious past that skips over the murderous toll, abominable mistakes, and unspeakable crimes that were made along the way.

I now also read in the Huffington Post that three journalist were killed this month in the North Caucasus. All three were reporting on the mindless cruel campaign by Putin’s Roosia against the Muslim extremists in that area. All three died suspiciously. It is suggested that the Roosian government may have been murdered them.

I further read from reports from the intrepid French New Philosophe, Henri Bernard-Levi, that Roosian troops were seen in Georgia mindlessly drunk immediately after obliterating the Georgian army.

On the backs of cruelty and terror, a new Roosian empire has been built, with another Tsar who killing knowledge.

Anti-communist ideologues prove that communism is a failure by pointing out that it failed in the Soviet Union. But everything has failed in Roosia, including feudalism. Everything fails because in each and every system that it has tried, it reverts to the Ivan model and kills its Juniors. It builds an empire by destroying. Then comes stupid.

Progress is not possible if Ivan Grozny is your role model.

Santyana tells us that history repeats itself. Marx teaches that all important historical events happen twice. The first is the historically important event. The second time is a farce. Roosian history disappoints neither.

Live life. Laugh too much. Marry someone who makes your life an adventure.

Tonight I’m spinning with uber-DJs Alex English, Dimitry!!!, and Sujinho at Highbar.  What a wild ride it’s been!  I had no intentions of DJing seriously; however, the last two months have brought many welcomed surprises.  I even had a gig at Marquee Labor Day weekend…WHAT?  Though this wasn’t a part of the plan, who am I to stop the momentum (read: PARTY!).
