Dinner in the Sky (www.dineinthesky.com) is an events company with a twist, it hosts meals, presentations, meetings and weddings suspended in mid-air! The platform on which the table and chairs is on can be suspended as high as 50 metres and can accomodate up to 22 people, as well as a chef, waiter and entertainment. If that’s not enough a stage can be hoisted alongside the table for a band to play on. One of the best aspects of this is that the crane which suspends the table can be set up anywhere in the UK providing permission has been given to use the land. Prices are around £9000 for 8 hours…one of the questions crossing my mind is how does one go to the toilet! Rather expensive but pretty cool!

Imagine um belo jantar, com direito a entrada, prato principal e sobremesa, comparável aos dos mais respeitados restaurantes de São Paulo. Agora imagine esse jantar nas alturas, a 50 metros do chão.
Está chegando à capital, no próximo semestre, a versão brasileira do Dinner in the Sky, uma espécie de restaurante itinerante que promete, sem dúvidas, elevar o conceito gastronômico do paulistano.
O Dinner in the Sky surgiu na Bélgica, mas já percorreu muitos países do mundo, do Canadá à África do Sul. Consiste de uma estrutura de ferro e cabos de aço que comporta 22 pessoas, o chef, o garçom e um funcionário. Acima de suas cabeças, um teto de acrílico para proteger de incidentes com chuvas ou pássaros. Toda essa estrutura fica suspensa por guindastes.
Como em um grande poleiro, as pessoas permanecem sentadas durante toda a refeição. Presas com cintos de segurança em suas confortáveis cadeiras, deliciam-se com os sabores do jantar, do vento e com a bela vista lá em baixo.
Em São Paulo,a Praça Charles Miller, o Parque Villa-Lobos, o Teatro Municipal, o Parque do Povo e o Museu do Ipiranga já têm visita garantida do jantar itinerante.
Entretanto, um pouco altos também são os preços: um mínimo de R$250,00 por pessoa.

Convidados vão comer até ficarem tontos

E vem aí a versão brasileira do “Dinner In The Sky”, evento que já ganhou fama em cidades como Londres, Madrid, Las Vegas e Istambul. Trata-se de um jantar de alto nível, literalmente, uma vez que os 22 convidados se acomodam numa mesa içada por um guindaste, a 50 metros do chão.

A cidade escolhida para acolher o rango aéreo, como não poderia deixar de ser, é São Paulo – a sede oficial de pelo menos 90% das esquisitices mundiais que resolvem desembarcar no país. Mas é possível que o Rio de Janeiro ou Campos do Jordão também recebam a modalidade.

A refeição custará cerca de R$ 250.  Por esta quantia módica, o cidadão poderá se deliciar com iguarias de primeira linha, preso à cadeira por um cinto de segurança, ao lado de outros malu… ops, excêntricos.

Recomenda-se que ninguém tente pegar o saleiro embaixo da mesa ou levante para propor um brinde. Também está fora de cogitação incluir farofa no cardápio – principalmente em dias em que o vento estiver mais forte.

O céu é o limite…

Jantar a 50 metros do chão, experimentar pratos de chefs famosos, ter uma visão panorâmica e  privilegiada da cidade de São Paulo. O que você me diz?

São Paulo será a primeira cidade brasileira a receber a empresa Dinner in the Sky, que realiza jantares, casamentos, reuniões, eventos a 50 metros do chão. Como? Simples. Por meio de um guindaste e dezenas de profissionais motivados a transformar o jantar de 20 privilegiados em um evento inesquecível.

O Dinner in the Sky já passou por muitos países, entre eles,  Canadá, França, Alemanha, Israel e Dubai, e em julho, estará no Brasil. Quem será o chef ? Não se sabe ainda, mas eu sinceramente, gostaria que fosse o Alex Atala. O preço? Também ainda não foi divulgado – mas acredito que, em tempos de crise, apenas alguns poucos privilegiados irão saborear os pratos da alta gastronomia, sentir um friozinho na barriga e aquela brisa gelada de julho tocar o rosto.

Vale a pena entrar no site para ver as fotos, vídeos e outras informações. Encontrei esse vídeo! Dá para ilustrar perfeitamente o conceito da empresa de eventos nas alturas, apesar do idioma francês.

Looking for something new to do in Vegas for fun? Maybe you should try ‘Dinner in the Sky‘ (fine dining 160-180 feet in the air). It was here for a brief time over New Year’s and now it’s back! My son, Austin worked as a waiter aboard Dinner in the Sky when it was here the last time and is working it again. That’s Austin wearing a bow-tie in the pics! I seriously do not know where he gets his bravery from….certainly not from me!

My grandson, Austin will start 2009 off with a bang……he starts his new job on Monday at “Dinner in the Sky”.   He will receive two days of training before being hoisted up into the clouds with twenty-two dinner guests. 

Dinner In The Sky is for people who expect more from their restaurants than four concrete walls and a solid floor. Instead, diners perch around a massive table, which is suspended from a crane high up in the air.

It sounds completely insane, but as the most unusual – and entirely legal – way of getting high over dinner, it is the new must-do experience for the super-rich and adventure-hungry who yearn for something a little more extreme at mealtimes.

Although based in Belgium, the “restaurant” can be driven to any destination in the world.

There have already been dining events in Paris and Brussels, while New York and Niagara Falls are on the agenda.

What’s more, for a mere £10,000, they’ll drive it over to Britain for you to host your own sky-high dinner party.
