Prima di parlarvi di Twilight, della sua autrice mormona e della voglia di sangue delle giovincelle cresciute a pane e Moccia in periodo pre-mestruale, voglio parlarvi di un altro fenomeno che lentamente sta prendendo piede ma in modo più silente e dannoso: il terrorismo psicologico adolescenziale. Ultimamente mi sono imbattuto in Disney Channel che proiettava le immagini di 3 fratelli, tali Jonas Brothers, che divulgano il verbo della purezza attraverso melodie sub-pop pseudo-rockettare condite da testi perbenisti con l’intento di educare le giovincelle alla purezza sessuale prima del matrimonio. Non so voi, ma la cosa mi ha turbato; e come mio solito, ho fatto delle ricerche per comprendere tale fenomeno così perverso. Tralasciando l’oblio in cui la Disney è scaduta negli ultimi anni, sostituendo cartoni animati antisemiti (si, senza che ci vantiamo di essere cresciuti con la disney!) a produzioni dal sapore “teen” quali High School Musical e stronzate varie, si è pensato bene di creare un gruppettino musicale che fonde un mix di tutti gli stereotipi contemporanei: belli, fighi, dannati, emo, punk, rock, pop, vampiri, figli di papà, eleganti, stilosi e chi più ne ha più ne metta MA con un piccolo particolare. Beh, stiamo parlando della Disney, mica possono dare il cattivo esempio? Il particolare è che questi soggetti, oltre ad essere fratelli (e, udite udite, sembrano la famiglia di Settimo Cielo), sono promotori di una iniziativa chiamata “l’anello della purezza”, ovvero un oggettino da indossare al dito (io al dito medio lo metterei volentieri) che identifichi coloro i quali praticano astinenza sessuale, valori cattolici e cose varie. Così subito ho pensato che è stato il primo progetto di conquista del mondo da parte di Ratzinger e del Vaticano in generale; ma sono rimasto sconvolto quando anche MTV si è abbassata ad un livello tale da non poter più risalire promuovendo tanta nefandezza. Forse non ci rendiamo conto, ma questo fenomeno mediatico è ancor più grave di Moccia-Burns, perchè per quanto lui sia convinto delle puttanate che divulga, questi invece ti inchiappettano in modo subliminale, piano piano, senza che tu te ne accorga. Pensate al cervello delle adolescenti brufolose che si flippa venendo bombardato da tanti messaggi subliminali come “non fate sesso” “il rock è figo se mangiate pane e nutella” “non drogatevi ma pregate” mentre il frontman si scatena sul palco sinuosamente, con voce sensuale e muovendosi in un modo che anche una suora si bagnerebbe! Terrorismo psicologico, appunto: un altro progetto eversivo pseudo-cattolico che non serve altro a promuovere idiozia e, a rendere le ragazzine e i giovani ancora più sessualmente confusi e repressi. In questo processo di crescita “CULturale” si inserisce, infine, il prodotto flippa-cervelli per eccellenza che suggellerà la mia piccola analisi. Rimanete sintonizzati!

En diciembre, Playhouse Disney Channel estrena PoppetsTown, la nueva serie animada para los más chiquitos. Además, retoma los comienzos de uno de los personajes más entrañables de Disney en la nueva película La Sirenita 3: Los comienzos de Ariel, y presenta nuevos episodios de la exitosa serie La casa de Mickey Mouse, como parte de una programación especial para acompañar las fiestas en familia.

La nueva serie PoppetsTown relata las aventuras de la pandilla de Scooter, un perro muy aventurero, junto a sus amigos Patty -una gatita inteligente, rápida y divertida-, y Bobby -un oso metódico, lógico y algo tímido-. Viven en la ciudad de Poppets Town, junto a muchos otros personajes como Cocori -una pollita bonita en patines-; Cozy -el policía de tráfico-; Alli -el dueño de la tienda de música-; y los hermanos Uki- Uki (Nicky, Jojo y Robin) -tres activos acróbatas y artistas callejeros: Los Poppets siempre están divirtiéndose, y cada día se presenta una nueva aventura en la ciudad.

OK so this past weekend, I attended an event at the USC film school. I attend panels, network away, yet constantly get distracted by this guy… I can’t place it, but he looks SO familiar. Something about the eyes?

I see him again and again, and we keep making eye-contact (or so I think it’s eye contact) so before I leave, I just go up to him and say “Heyy…do I know you?” to which he responds, “I was thinking the same thing!” First I ask if he went to SC. Negative. I ask if he was sure. Again, he was sure we didn’t go to school together. He ask me where I worked. I say TV Guide Network. He says that may be why… and asks if I do red carpet interviews. CLICK! We conclude that I must have interviewed him at some carpet. We begin trying to figure out exactly which carpet… and well, call me crazy, but I have a photographic sort of memory, and throw out the Acts of Love Autism event, back in November 2008. ..and was right! That’s when “Hi, I’m Austin”/”Hi I’m Samia” happens.

So after Austin Butler and I discover that we’re long lost friends (sort of?) he introduces me to Sean Covel, who just so happened to a be a speaker on one of panels I attended.  Why is Sean Covel a big deal? He graduated from USC’s film school and well, produced a film that at least 50% of you readers have quoted at some point – “Napoleon Dynamite.”

Uh...freakin idiot!

Anyway, as I talk them, I discover “fun facts” like how Sean, though he’s seen the film a million times, has blocked the lines from his memory, and actually gets the lines from the film wrong when he DOES try to quote them.

Austin was on the Nickelodeon show Zoey 101 (co-starring Britney’s sis, Jamie Lynn Spears,) and in a film called Aliens in the Attic (which he was promoting when we first met last year. has been busy in Canada, shooting a new CW series called “Life UneXpected.” had a week off in LA, and decided to pay a visit to his buddy Sean. They actually know eachother because Sean is engaged to actress Alexa Vega, who’s worked with Austin.

Anyway, as we’re parting, the highlight of the convo happens. Do we say “Nice meeting you?” Not quite. Since we’ve met before, the cliche-carpet-line, “Nice to see you!” seems appropriate. Problem? It’s cliche, it’s stock, it’s…well, long story short, it’s a commonly heard line on the carpet, that both stars and publicists use so they don’t offend someone they have/haven’t met. Me, Sean, and Austin joke/banter about this, and conclude that the next time we cross paths, we’ll use a “Hey You!!” or something to that effect.

Anyway, my friend is getting antsy, so I wrap up convo with the guys and… what do I say? “Nice seeing you again.” :-/

According to Tiger Beat Magazine Demi Lovato auditioned for the part of Stella Malone.Chelsea Staub Said: “We’ve been up against each other for a lot of things in our lives,” she smiles. “We were both  up for JONAS so it’s always kind of been between Demi and me for differnet major turning points in our life.”

Wow. I guess Chelse won! YAY! But Demi would have made a great Stella aswell.

Heya guys and girls and welcome to my top telly blog entry. If you are a regular visitor then you’ll know that I haven’t posted a blog entry (that is not a news update) for quite a while now and if you follow me on twitter then you’ll now that I have been writing some new material for my blog so I am back on track. Everybody Hates Chris

Although it is titled ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ and my name just so happens to be CHRIS and it ended in the fall of this year (2009), I am still a big fan of this show. I think it is very original and humorous. My favorite episode is entitled ‘Everybody Hates Homecoming’ and is a spoof of another one of my fave shows called…

This is perhaps one of the most famous sitcoms and was the first sitcom to feature an all black cast. I am a really big fan and am happy that they started to re -air old episodes. If they didn’t then kids of the 21st century wouldn’t of seen where popular comedy actress Raven Symone began her work as a child actress which brings me nicely onto my next show which is entitled…

Do you see the resemblance? OK, what was I saying? Oh yes, ‘That’s So Raven’ is a great show although I do not like the concept of Raven being a physic. The show follows the story of Raven Baxter being a physic teen who foresees things before they happen and it’s her duty to stop them. She needs the help of her friends. The way she attempts to stop things from happening are hilarious! When the show ended on November 10, 2007, I was devastated like many fans were. But when I found out that a similar show was being made for Nickelodeon (rival channel for Disney channel home of ‘That’s So Raven’) that did not involve physics, i was ecstatic! The show would be called…

True Jackson, VP.

True Jackson has always dreamed of becoming a fashion designer and is overjoyed when she is discovered selling sandwiches in a fashion magazine lobby. They are so impressed with her that they promote her to the job title of vice president of the teen section of the magazine.

I love this show as well as many others including: iCarly, Drake and Josh, Waterloo Road, Outnumbered, Suite Life, Spongebob, 90210, Friends and Smallville.

Donny Osmond was declared the new champion of “Dancing with Stars”

on Tuesday night, taking home the show’s mirror ball trophy in the season finale of the ABC contest reality program.Osmond, the former teen pop star of the singing Osmond family, said the show has been a highlight in a career of ups and downs.”I did it!” Osmond exclaimed. He promptly rushed to the audience and plucked out his wife, Debbie, whom he carried across the stage.

Continuando con la estrategia musical y artística propuesta por el Zapping Zone, el miércoles 25 de noviembre Disney Channel emite por primera vez el video musical de Soy así, la nueva canción original del programa, interpretada por la conductora Carla Medina.

El título de la canción fue elegido por los televidentes, que entre el 25 de octubre y el 1 de noviembre participaron en la votación de Disneylatino.com, para elegir el nombre del nuevo tema del Zapping Zone. Con mayoría de votos, “Soy así” resultó el título ganador.

Además, el jueves 26 de noviembre Disney Channel estrena una versión corta del video clip, mientras que el miércoles 2 de diciembre, en www.disneylatino.com, se emite por primera vez una versión del video con un final alternativo. A lo largo de noviembre y diciembre los chicos pueden disfrutar de las distintas versiones del video clip, tanto en el programa como en el sitio web.

El miércoles 9 de diciembre el Zapping Zone presenta el especial Dance Along, en donde la conductora enseña distintos pasos de baile, para que los chicos puedan bailar al ritmo de “Soy así”.

Today I was searching the web minding my own business when a certain photo caught my attention.  Low and behold it was the infamous ”Miley Cyrus” in a fit for night-time t.v.  I immediately set out to locate information for Disney advising them that now would be a good time to “snatch her show” off the air.

Well, I realized that it was easier to get snow in Georgia than to find contact information for Disney Channel.  Through their corporate information page I was able to locate the name of their studio chairman Rich Ross and set out to write him a letter (the old-fashioned way).  Come to find out that he is Disney’s first openly gay chairman.  Am I late? Were you aware of this dear reader?  No wonder Disney’s content has grown increasingly mature over the last few years?

Playhouse Disney shows were the only ones allowed on our t.v., in light of this news we will be deleting the channel all together. What difference does it make – one might ignorantly ask?  I have very strong values and convictions about my faith – those convictions and values are displayed in my every day walk and I try to expose most people I come in contact with to those ideals… why would I expect any different of someone else???

I will spread the word with the hopes other parents will withdraw their support from Disney until they change their ways.

Voici le synopsis du film pour un rappel :

L’embarcation de la famille Russo dans l’endroit où Jerry et Theresa se sont rencontrés pour la première fois aurait du se passer bien, jusqu’au moment où Alex, se disputant avec sa mère, lance un sort après la sortie de cette dernière, où elle veut que ses parents ne se soit jamais rencontrés. Pour conjurer le sort, Alex et Justin devront trouver dans la jungle la Pierre des Rêves, permettant d’annuler le sort.

Aunque no muchos la conozcan la actriz Claire Danes tiene una carrera muy larga en hollywood, y si, casi todas sus peliculas han fracasado, razon por la cual no quiso pasar desapercibida en la premiere en Londres de su nueva pelicula “Me and Orson Wells”, por lo que decidio dejar al aire sus encantos… mas que encantos parecen un par de limones con chipotes, pero bueno al menos hizo que toda la atencion girara en torno a su falta de bobbies y sus pezones, ese que ven ahi es Gay Efron, coprotagonista de la Claire en dicha cinta… aburrido!!

Gayfron llego a Londres para promocionar su nueva pelicula “Me and Orson Wells” en donde intenta demostrar que sabe actuar, el problema es que nadie le cree, como sea los paparazzis lo captaron en el aeropuerto luciendo muy gay y fashion como de costumbre.

Dentro de la competencia que hay por conseguir el mercado infantil, a la cabeza están Disney Channel y Clan. Y para no perder la pugna por el liderazgo entre los más pequeños, Disney Channel lanzó no hace mucho una nueva apuesta.

Se trata de ‘3G, 3 Generaciones’, un concurso mezcla de quiz y game en el que participan unidades familiares formadas por miembros de tres generaciones (hijos, padres, abuelos), y que está presentado por Luis Larrodera..

Se emite los sábados a las 21:30, día y hora donde muchos de los espectadores que están ante el televisor son familiar con niños. Buscan así un target similar al que Antena 3 persigue con su ‘Cinema-trix’.

Y yo veo esto como un gran salto cualitativo. Disney se lanza así a producir programas propios y a diversificar su oferta, en lugar de tirar exclusivamente de ficciones de la factoría.

El género concurso es muy entretenido, y si se hace muy dinámico puede gustar mucho a los niños. Pero si además consiguen involucrar activamente a los adultos de la casa, podemos estar ante una oferta interesante, que congregue a toda la familia ante el televisor, como antaño. Y es que un programa de entretenimiento familiar puede atraer a mucha gente, y sino que se lo pregunten a ‘El Hormiguero’.

Además, el tratarse de una producción nacional, con presentador y concursantes de aquí, hace que el espectador identifique el canal como algo genuino de nuestro país y no sólo como una franquicia extranjera. Es Disney pero es “nuestro Disney”.

Hasta ahora Disney Channel había emitido dos productos propios, ‘Cosas de la vida’, una serie de sketches sobre una familia, y ‘Cambio de clase’, una especie de ‘Camera Cafe’ que sucede tras la ventana del pasillo de un colegio. Ambas ficciones son las adaptaciones españolas de los guiones de productos extranjeros pertenecientes a Disney.

Ahora se da un paso más hacia una programación original. Sería interesante poder ver cómo funciona ‘3G, 3 Generaciones’ en audiencias.

Ya era hora de que los directivos encargados de los canales infantiles se dieran cuenta de que estos son algo más que simples contenedores de series infantiles extranjeras y que existe una mayor variedad de géneros por explotar y posibilidades. ¿Cuándo se pondrá las pilas Clan?

Jonas Brothers visit UK school kids

Some school kids in the north-east of England got a great surprise when the Jonas Brothers paid them a visit.

The American stars are touring Europe and popped in to the Gateshead school to spread their love of music.

The visit is part of a national scheme to get more children into music, which is being run by the Government.

The famous trio taught the pupils some guitar skills, showed them how to put a song together and told them what it’s like being in a rock band.

The boys said they really loved music and hoped they could share that with the kids at the school.

The musical brothers also took questions from fans before treating them to a special performance.

Don’t you just wish every school day could be as exciting as that one?

Remember Jungle Cubs? It was that other Disney Channel cartoon spin-off of The Jungle Book, and it followed Baloo, Bagheera, Louie, Shere Khan, and Kaa, but you know, when they were younger. Cubs, if you will. And stuff happened, but I don’t really remember what. I don’t think it lasted for very long, and no one ever excitedly mentions Jungle Cubs the way they do with Talespin. Anyway, the point of all this is that Jungle Book spin-offs never have Mowgli in them. The Aladdin TV show had Aladdin, The Little Mermaid had Ariel, and Simba had some cameos in Timon and Pumbaa, but no Mowgli, so far as I remember. They could have followed his jungle years living among the wolves, but they didn’t. You know why? Because Mowgli is annoying.

I have this weird thing with The Jungle Book where I remember it very fondly, and I always profess that I love that movie, but then when I watch it, I realize that I really don’t love The Jungle Book. This isn’t me being a book purist, either, because I haven’t read the original, which I hear is very different. There are some fabulous scenes in this movie, and even now, I’m wondering if I should take this all back, because…it’s The Jungle Book! I love The Jungle Book! But no, I don’t. I like The Jungle Book, but I don’t love it, and I’m blaming this on Mowgli being annoying.

And I know that’s not fair. If I had been raised by wolves in the jungle for eight or ten years, or however old he is, I wouldn’t want to go back to the man village, either. But sorry, Mowgli, just…even your voice gets on my nerves. I almost always sympathize with the Stuffy Nervous Sidekick. Sebastian, Cogsworth, the White Rabbit, I love them all. Here, we have Bagheera. Poor, long-suffering Bagheera. In the world, there are Bagheeras and there are Baloos, and I will always, always be a Bagheera. So when Mowgli’s being difficult, I don’t think, “aww, poor kid.” I think, “aww, poor panther.” If Mowgli were Harry Potter, then Baloo would be Sirius Black, and Bagheera would be Remus Lupin. (Kaa is Peter Pettigrew, obviously.)

And that makes Shere Khan Voldemort, of course. Shere Khan is an awesome villain for a number of reasons. First, he’s voiced by George Sanders, who is the best at being kind of smug and smarmy and fabulous. Second, he’s kind of sort of sympathetic, almost maybe. His motivation is understandable. He’s a tiger, an endangered species, so of course, he’s not going to like humans. I take it back–he’s not Voldemort–he’s the Magneto of the jungle. He wants to kill Mowgli because from his experience, humans kill his kind. He’s not a nice dude by any means, but you can see where he’s coming from. I’m pretty sure there was an episode of Jungle Cubs where Young Shere Khan first comes to distrust humans, but I can’t remember what happens. The third reason I love Shere Khan is because he’s so menacing without being overtly violent until the end of the movie. Like his scene with Kaa. He’s not being violent or over-the-top, but he’s still totally scary.

Speaking of Kaa, you didn’t think I was going to forget about Sterling Holloway, did you? It’s weird the first time you realize that Winnie the Pooh is trying to eat our hero. I had never noticed this before, but I guess some people see a lot of, um, inappropriate subtext in Kaa’s scenes with Mowgli. I will say that there is an awful lot of bad touching going on, but I would never have picked up on that unless it was pointed out to me. Moving on.

One of the reasons I always think I love this movie is because of the music. The music is awesome and catchy, and the score is lovely. But the thing is…okay, we may have an Unfortunate Racist Moment. And I’m conflicted. “I Wanna Be Like You” is my favorite song and scene from this movie, but…there are unfortunate implications going on in this scene that I understand even as I don’t want to, because it’s such a great song. Louis Prima, for the record, was an Italian-American jazz/swing musician, which explains why King Louie sings in that style, and I mean, the idea of an ape wanting to learn how to be human isn’t offensive in and of itself. I think the problem here is a combination of factors that, independent of each other, wouldn’t seem that bad, but put together, it makes you raise an eyebrow a little. I don’t know this for a fact, but it feels much less intentional than the racism in Dumbo, and more like Disney didn’t put some of the pieces together at the time.

And I can’t not mention the lack of ladies in this movie. For the animals, there’s a female elephant and a she-wolf who are both very minor characters, and for the humans, we have that one girl at the end who is there to tempt Mowgli away from the jungle with her feminine wiles. And a song. A song about how she’s going to fetch water until she gets married, and then she’ll stay at home while her daughter fetches the water, presumably until she gets married, because really, that’s all womenfolk are good for, isn’t it?

So, the next time I convince myself that I totally love The Jungle Book, I’ll be able to read this and remind myself that I like The Jungle Book, but I don’t love it. I just love Bagheera.

Favorite moment: I Wanna Be Like You

Because unfortunate implications aside, it’s still a super fun song that begs you to sing along with it.

Well, with 2009 approaching the ol’ finish line, you’ll start seeing lots of year-end wrap-up lists and things. First, let’s have a look at the runner-ups…

Brooke Hogan, The Redemption

Um, wow. This looks like the kind of thing that some Dungeons & Dragons nerd might have airbrushed on the hood of his car back in 1987. I don’t even think people do that anymore. Also, that album title… don’t you have to screw up a successful singing career before you can make a comeback album called The Redemption? Quick, name the last time you heard a Brooke Hogan song. And VH1 doesn’t count.

Adam Lambert, For Your Entertainment

If Aladdin Sane went to the neighborhood mall, got some Glamour Shots photos taken, and then scanned the most ridiculous pose into his computer so he could Photoshop it poorly and add ugly ‘80s hair-metal logo fonts… well, the result still wouldn’t look as stupid as this album cover.

I must give this guy props for letting FYE sponsor his album title, though. If I ever get a record deal, I’m changing my name to Sam Goody and recording an album of techno-pop called Circuit City. The critics will call it a “best buy” even though it will basically sound like a cheesy ripoff of MGMT. Or Weezer’s “Can’t Stop Partying.” You decide.

What’s the worst crime he commits with this thing? Carrying a guitar even though I’m pretty sure he doesn’t play? Borrowing Adam Lambert’s cheesy-looking font? The pseudo-outer-space scene in the background? The robot hand holding a spray can? No… it’s those ridiculous cartoon characters in the corner that earn this one its WTF status.

Shwayze, Let It Beat

What the hell is going on here? It looks like they tried to spoof the famous shot of the Statue of Liberty at the end of Planet Of The Apes. Only here, the statue’s been decapitated and dismembered. And she’s wearing a bikini. And she has speakers where her boobs are supposed to be. And her iPod is plugged into her belly button. And she’s apparently visiting the set of Miami Vice.

Just look at it. I mean, what else could you expect for an album that got its title from the guy who plays Dwight on The Office and called Ellen Page “homeskillet” in Juno?

Theory Of A Deadman, “Hate My Life”

I still can’t figure out what to make of this song. On one hand, these lyrics are hilarious: “I hate that I can’t tell/When a girl’s underage/You know, I tell her she’s a nice piece of ass,/Then her daddy punches me in the face.” On the other hand, the singer sounds so sincere that it’s like he really wanted people to relate to this.

If it’s meant to be funny, then it’s a clever parody of angst-ridden post-grunge radio rock – you know, like Theory Of A Deadman’s other songs. If it’s not meant to be funny… well, that just makes it funnier, doesn’t it? And the acoustic version of this song, believe it or not, is even funnier. Unintentionally funny things are always funnier than things that are supposed to be funny. That’s why The Number 23 is the funniest movie Jim Carrey’s made this entire decade. Even with some strong competition from Weird Al, there was no way this wasn’t going to Theory Of A Deadman.

Plus, is it just me, or does the lead singer kind of sound like the guy who sings the songs in Team America?

I don’t have a clue who this guy is. I don’t know where he came from, and I have no idea whether or not he’s connected to the Disney Channel (the most likely cause for such a meteoric rise to fame). All I know is that he’s suddenly everywhere, I am clueless as to why, and I don’t really care either.

Heidi Montag

Apparently this girl from The Hills has been trying to get a music career off the ground for a while now. So far it has been greeted with the same enthusiasm people reserve for trees falling in the forest that they aren’t around to hear. But bless her heart, she keeps on trucking.

And hey, if this singing thing doesn’t work out, she could always pose for Play… oh, wait. She did that already. Never mind.

What do you mean Britney Spears doesn’t sing live? I for one am absolutely appalled that she lip-syncs! We made Ashlee Simpson a freaking pariah for pulling the same stunt on Saturday Night Live; now people wouldn’t buy her albums if you gave them away for free! You mean to tell me people will actually pay their hard-earned money to watch a singer who pretends to sing?

For me, the controversy is not about Britney lip-syncing. Much like Mr. Mayer, I’m shocked that people are still shocked about this. Have the Aussies not been paying attention for the last ten years? Come on, Australia. Britney’s been lip-syncing since day one. I don’t even think that’s her real speaking voice. There’s probably someone sitting outside in an RV talking into a headset microphone or something.

Best Supergroup of the Year

Them Crooked Vultures

And in a stunning upset, Them Crooked Vultures takes home the Harley over… well, how many supergroups actually came out this year? There was Chickenfoot, Monsters Of Folk, and… uh…

I’m only half-kidding about this. Maybe I’m kind of biased since this band features Josh Homme (Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age) on guitar and vocals, Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, lots of other bands) on drums, and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) on bass. It’s kind of hard to go wrong with a lineup like that. If you like classic rock like Zeppelin or Cream, or if QOTSA’s Songs For The Deaf ranks among your favorite albums, or if you play an instrument, or if you like rock music in general, you’ll probably like this band.

I’ve never been a fan of censorship, really. That’s why if I ever come up with an idea for a TV show, I’d want it to be on HBO – because they let you do pretty much anything you want. Yet for some reason, this recent trend of NSFW music videos has taken me by surprise. Truly, Rule 34 of the Internet (“If it exists, there is porn of it – no exceptions”) continues to reign supreme.

Would you like to watch Rammstein porn (“Pussy”)? Do you think it would be funny to pretend another person’s penis is a microphone (Girls, “Lust For Life”)? Have you ever wanted to see Wayne Coyne naked (the Flaming Lips, “Watching The Planets”)? Well, guess what? All of these videos have been made just for you. But be warned – what has been seen… cannot be unseen.

Radiohead, Wall Of Ice

It must have been interesting to be a member of Radiohead in the days leading up to August 17, 2009. Someone had recently leaked a new song called “These Are My Twisted Words” and the Internet was suddenly all abuzz about a mysterious new EP called Wall Of Ice. This despite the fact that nobody in the band had ever said anything about the leak, the new song, or anything they were planning for August 17. No blog posts on Dead Air Space, no news updates on At Ease Web, no interviews, no press releases, no nothing.

Yet all of a sudden everyone was convinced that Wall Of Ice was coming. After all, this was the band who released In Rainbows pretty much out of nowhere nearly two years earlier. Were they about to pull the same trick again?

Well, no. As it turns out, the Wall Of Ice EP existed only in Internet rumors. And the mysterious event set for August 17? The official release of “These Are My Twisted Words.” Somehow, without even doing anything at all, Radiohead had managed to pull off perhaps the biggest hoax since Orson Welles’ War Of The Worlds broadcast. But if “These Are My Twisted Words” is any indication, Wall Of Ice would have been pretty kickass. And Pitchfork would have given it at least an 8.5 out of 10.

One last Harley award to give out, and then we can all go home! Now, this one may be the last, but it’s certainly not the least. And anyone who’s paid attention to any award shows over the past few years will agree that this is a pretty big award.

Y'all want me mean, or cute?

Well, the times they are a changing.

And you get a sense of just how much, when the cornerstone of Disney (and general bastion of gawd bless Ameria), is getting a makeover.

And not just any makeover, nay. Disney are giving Mickey Mouse the 2.0 treatment. As his popularity is in decline (not terminal, but they are noticing the till receipts via sponsorship slip), Mickey is being toughened up.

Mickey aficionados will tell you in his first couple of outings, he was a mean mouse. He even forced Minnie to kiss him (hardly manga brutality, but still). But those canny kids at Disney aren’t butchering him on the Disney channel for all to see.

Oh no.

They are testing meaner Mickey via a video game. Quite sensible you could argue, and certainly a smarter way to connect with the kids they want to reach who might be giving their more traditional routes to market something of a wide berth…

Given the fanfare surrounding a certain war games release (bigger than the opening weekend of Harry Potter etc), perhaps this Mickey makeover will be the first of many…
