She called her uncle up north and told him the news. He was shocked, and cried, regretting the fact that he had not seen her, his only sister in a long time. He said he would be there the next day. She then called her friends and her mother’s friends in the city. She called her pastor who offered his condolences and prayed with her, reminding her that her mother was in a better place, and that she, Anna, would see her again one day. She fell exhausted into bed and cried herself to sleep.

The next morning she woke with a head ache, had some coffee and called her office, requesting 3 days grief time. She then called her lawyer in the islands, told him the news, and requested extra funds to help her with the funeral expenses. To her surprise, he told her that after all these years, he had just received a letter from the Government, informing him that the money she had applied for several years ago had finally been approved, and a check would follow. She thanked him and asked him to forward the check as soon as possible. He said he would and promised to call her friends and relatives and tell them of her mother’s passing. She hung up shaking her head as she recalled that years ago, both the doctor and the hospital had written her telling her that both balances were written off. She had no idea how much the funeral expenses would be. She was afraid that the money wouldn’t cover everything, and wondered how she would pay the balance. However she hoped that it would at least cover most of the cost.

Her daughters awoke shortly thereafter and joined her in the kitchen where she made breakfast and told them to get ready for she was sure to have visitors. No sooner had she said the words than the  door bell rang.  It was her pastor and some brothers and sisters from her church. Anna was glad to see them and they came offering to help in what ever way they could. Some brought food, some coffee, and some drinks. This was the pattern throughout the day and there was a never ending stream of friends. Anna was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, because she hardly knew these people, yet they had all come together as one family to console, help and offer prayers, for they all had the same Father. One brother offered to take her to the cemetery to select a plot and also to the funeral home to select a coffin. Another brother offered to take her to the airport to meet her uncle and aunt. Two days later, her Mom was laid to rest.

For the next two to three weeks, she was inundated with sympathy cards, letters and phone calls, all telling her of her mother’s goodness to them and how much she was loved and respected. These expressions of love and appreciation also helped to comfort Anna and remind her of what a godly woman her mother was. She  was sad when she went back to work and thanked her co-workers  for being so supportive. Going home was the worse, for while at work, at least for the 8 hours, her mind was on her job. At home, however, she had to pass that empty room. Anna knew she had to get away from that house and leave behind all  the visible reminders. She started praying immediately asking her Father to help her find a new place. As soon as she reached home, she called a real estate agent and told him exactly what she wanted, somewhere small and manageable and affordable. She knew her Father knew exactly what she needed, so she prayed and waited upon Him.

Anna received the bill for the funeral expenses and her eyes widened when she saw the total.  All she could do was to close her eyes and whisper “Lord”. That’s all she could say. Two days later, Anna got home to find a letter from the island waiting for her. She set her handbag down and the kitchen counter, and with racing  heart, sat and gingerly opened the letter. In it was the check. She looked at the amount and gasped. With eyes tightly closed, tears streaming down her face, and trembling lips she thanked God, for apart from the difference of  a few cents, the check was the exact amount of the bill.  Anna sat there shaking in awe and wonder for truly this was God’s evidence of  His amazing grace. This was indeed unmerited divine assistance. Once again she was reminded of His Word in Phil. 4:vs 19 “AND MY GOD WILL MEET ALL YOUR NEEDS ACCORDING TO HIS GLORIOUS RICHES IN CHRIST JESUS”. Her Father was rich, so why did she even worry?. Anna jumped up from the chair, shouting and screaming, waving the check in the air and thanking her Father over and over again. Later that  night while lying in bed,she smiled softly and asked herself, ”Why was I so fearful? Didn’t Jesus say “ Don’t be afraid, just believe”. Mark 5: vs.36, and with that she fell asleep.

Two months later, the real estate agent called and told Anna that he thinks he has found just the right house for her and would like to show it to her immediately. She agreed and they went to see it. When she saw the house she was overjoyed. It was exactly what she had in mind, and it even included her very own little court yard. Anna said yes she wanted it and was told she could move in the end of the following month. She went home and gladly gave the landlord a month’s notice and started packing. The third week she went to the office to give  her new address, and the manager asked if she was still interested in another job closer to home. Anna said yes, and was told her that there was an opening in the south office, that she had already put in a  tentative word for her and advised her to call and make an appointment for an inveterview. She did as suggested and she got the job. It was only half an hour’s drive from you new residence and on the way to work she could take her daughter to school. Once again, Anna experienced tangible evidence of  God”s Amazing Grace  and Power.

FOOTNOTE; Friends: Why are we so fearful? Jesus said we are to ask in His name and believe and God will answer. God is never too late. God is  never too early. God is always on time. Anna realized that if she had received that money for which she had applied years ago, she never would have been able to  meet her future responsibilities. But God knew, for He knows we will have problems, but He goes before us and takes care of the problems, even before we know that we have problems. He knows we are frail and weak for we are only human. But it is written, “FOR WHEN I AM WEAK, THEN I AM STRONG”. 2Cor.vs:10. and so He strengthens us to overcome and carry on.

SMALL STRAWS IN A SOFT WIND by Marsha Burns — Nov. 25, 2009:

We have been through a period of the past seven months where the Lord has brought about astounding changes in our lives. He has done a work of bringing us into a complete and divine order, which seemed at the time to be really, really difficult because we didn’t fully understand what He was doing. He had to bring destruction in ways that would cause us to let go of the things that would hinder His plans and purposes for us. I’m not absolutely sure, but it looks like we are at the end of this re-ordering process. I believe this was confirmed as I experienced an unnatural fatigue as though I had completed a long and exhausting journey. Yet, when I awoke, I was completely refreshed and awake; not just awake from a night’s sleep, but awake and alert from a dark and deep spiritual sleep. And, I believe that we have entered a new day of heightened discernment and clarity together with a sense of release and purpose that will help us yield more completely and move unhindered in the flow of the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 1:14 That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

One may have awakened to the alarm at 3:00 AM.  One got up and began to prepare for one’s time with the Lord.  One’s mind may have been racing.  Many thoughts may have consumed one all at once.

One may have had a hard time trying to confess one’s sins.  One may have found oneself wandering off of what one was doing (confessing) and thinking about issues in one’s life.  One may have attempted to get back on track.  One may have asked the Lord for help.

One may have read the Spirit of Prophecy Bulletin for today.

One may have started one’s special time with praise to the Lord, with song.  One may have thought about issues and began to talk to the Lord.  One apologized to the Lord again for getting off track and continued on with one’s praise (singing) to the Lord.  One confessed one’s sins; which took up most of one’s time.  One thanked the Lord, for He has truly been good to one.  One prayed for the sick.

One left one’s prayer closet and logged onto the website to pray for outstanding prayer requests.  One may have felt good this morning and very hopeful while praying for the prayer requests.

Lord, I pray that your perfect will be done for each individual who submitted a prayer request, in Jesus’ name.  Thank you Jesus!

فهي التي أنجبت القوانين والشرائع، وصاغت النظم السياسية والاجتماعية،  وأبدعت المآثر الفنّية، وأحرزت الإنجازات التقنية التي لا نهاية لها، وفتحت آفاقا جديدة لرفع مستويات الأخلاق والآداب، وحققت الازدهار المادي،

وأفلحت في إقامة عصور من السلام العام لحقب طويلة من الزمان بقيت آثارها متوهجة في حافظة أجيال متعاقبة من البشر، صوّرتها مخيّلاتهم على أنها ”عصور ذهبية.“

فالوصول لبناء حضارة ثابتة يكون بتحقيق أهداف ذلك النظام الإلهي الذي أبدعه حضرة بهاء الله الذي يسعى إلى توحيد العالم الإنساني وإلى إقامة العدل في الحياة الجماعية للبشر.   

إن مبدأ وحدة البشر واتّحادهم هو المحور الذي تدور حوله تـعاليم حضرة بهاء الله كافة

فأقل ما يدعو إليه هو إعادة بناء صرح العالم المتحضّر وتحقيق نزع سلاحه

ينادي إلى ذلك بإقامة عالم ملتحم عضويا في كل ناحية من النواحي الأساسية لحياته، متّحد في منظوماته السياسية، وفي تطلّعاته الروحية، وفي تجارته ونظمه المالية،

ومتّحد في لغته وأبجديته وحروف هجائه ولكنه أيضا قادر على احتواء ما لا نهاية له من تعدد الخاصّيّات القومية المختلفة لأجزائه المتحدة.59

فحتى لانعاني من حلول مصيبة دهماء تصيب مصالح البشر تفوق مأساة انهيار صرح المدنية الروماني في القرون الأولى للعهد المسيحي,

ولأجل افتتاح هذا العهد الجديد المنور الفريد من المدنية والحضارة في تاريخ العالم علينا ان نعتمد على محور تعاليم رسالة حضرة بهاء الله:

”إن أساس دين الله وشريعته الذي تجلّى في هذا الدور البديع والقرن الجليل هو الرأفة الكبرى والرحمة العظمى والألفة بين جميع المِلل، والصدق والأمانة والمحبة القلبية  الخالصة تجاه جميع الطوائف والنِّحَل،

Psa 37:3-8 – Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked scemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret–it only causes harm.

Psa 41:2-3 – The Lord will preserve you and keep you alive and bless you. the Lord will not deliver you unto the will of your enemies. The Lord will strengthen you upon the sickbed and restore you to health.

Psa 55:22 – Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you: He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

Psa 57:1 – Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; and in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by.

Psa 91 – He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence. You shall not be afraid. No evil can overtake you. No plague can come nigh your dwelling. His angels are in charge over you to keep you in all your ways. He will answer when you call upon Him. He will be with you in trouble and deliver you and honor you. With long life will He satisfy you and will show you His salvation. (These are highlights from the passage.

Psa 103:3-5 – Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits. Who forgives all thine iniquities; who heals all thy diseases. Who redeems thy life from destruction. Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Psa 107:20 – He sent His word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions.

Psa 112:7 – He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.

Psa 116:8-9 – For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

Psa 118:8 – It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

Psa 119:16 – I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.

Psa 119:50 – This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life.

Psa 119:92-93 – Unless Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction. I will never forget Your precepts, for by them You have given me life.

Prov 3:1-2 – My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you.

Prov 3:5-8 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh and strength to your bones.

But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.

Matt 8:14-16 – Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw His wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. And He touched her hand, and the fever left her. then she arose and served them. When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick.

Matt 8:16-17 – He cast out the spirit with His word and healed all that were sick. He took our infirmities and bare our sicknesses.

Matt 9:27-30 – When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” And their eyes were opened.

Matt 9:32-33 – As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man, mute and demon-possessed. And when the demon was cast out, the mute spoke.

Matt 10:1,7-8 – And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. freely you have received, freely give.”

Matt 11:4-6 – Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

Matt 13:58 – And He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Matt 14:14 – And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.

Matt 14:36 – The sick begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well.

Matt 15:30-31 – Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them those who were lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus’ feet, and He healed them. So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing.

Matt 16:19 – And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Matt 17:15-21 – “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. “So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and he came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “move from here to there’ and it will move’ and nothing will be impossible to you.” However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.

Matt 18:18 – Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Matt 18:19 – If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.

Matt 20:30-34 – And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you!” They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.” So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Mark 9:23 – If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.

Mark 10:27 – With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.

John 8:31 – Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears Him.

John 10:10 – The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

John 11:4 – This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.

Acts 3:1-8 – Peter and Paul healed a man who was lame from birth. Peter said to him, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them–walking, leaping, and praising God.

Acts 5:16 Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.

Acts 10:38 – God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Acts 14:8-10 – And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. This man heard Paul speaking. Paul observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked.

Acts 19:11-12 – Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.

Acts 28:3-6 – A viper came out from among a bundle of sticks and fastened on to Paul’s hand. He shook it off and suffered no harm. Others expected him to swell up and fall down dead; and they saw after a long time that no harm came to him. (This is an example of how nothing by any means can harm us.)

Rom 2:11 – There is no partiality with Him. (He does not show favor toward one over another.)

Rom 4:16 Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.

Rev 12:11 – And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Darayonan Lodge

Darayonan is a Cuyonon word that means a place to stay. The lodge is situated in a residential part of Coron town, strategically located along the National Highway. Darayonan Lodge aims to provide its guests with clean and comfortable rooms, good food and quality service. Aside from that, one has options on choosing the rooms to stay at: in the native bamboo, sawali and banig set-up or in the modern concrete and tile two-story building.

Darayonan Lodge is an accredited tourist inn by the Philippine Department of Tourism. It has played host to a number of VIP’s and celebrities, the most notable of whom are Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and then U.S. Ambassador Francis Ricciardone.  In fact, Congressman Baham Mitra was amongst the guests of the lodge during our stay from October 21-24, 2009.

What is striking about this place aside from its homey atmosphere is the owner’s love for the arts. It definitely is a reflection of the owner’s strive in achieving perfection in everything. From the lodge’s interior decorations to the food being served for each meal. He personally goes over every little details right before being served or handed over to the guests. We stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights; and it was a part of the overwhelming positive experiences that I have had during my stay in Coron, Palawan.

The place is clean all the time! They see to it that the rooms and private comfort rooms get cleaned everyday during your stay. They also make sure that the entire lodge is spic and span all throughout the day. I have never seen any litter at all in my entire stay.

The facilities in this lodge pass the normal standards of travellers: hot and cold shower, all air-conditioned rooms, centralized water system. It’s like you never left home at all. I’ve had a comfortable stay at this lodge.

It’s also probably the only lodge that includes breakfast for two along with the daily room charge. And what’s more, drinking water and coffee is unlimited, no extra charge. I should say that staying at Darayonan is really a value for your money.
