Nearly one dozen cowards in white, and other various hued, sheets defiantly protested on the steps of Fulton Chapel which is located on the campus of the University of Mississippi.

The belligerent bigots met briefly before the Ole Miss Rebels waged a gridiron battle against their overpowering opposition in the 10^th ranked LSU Tigers, a savvy move that guaranteed that the racist Neanderthals would receive plenty of press attention.

What was the hoopla all about? None other than “Dixie,” the classic southern battle chant that has been a source of white-southern pride since before the infamous “War Between The States,” of which members of the Mississippi’s White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan has been waging a very low key but public war to protect.

University officials moved to ban the song from football games after hearing the fans refused to abandon singing or reciting the tune’s racially tinged ending, “the South will rise again.”

Around 250 anti-Klan protestors were on hand to show support. The move was made to unify everyone on campus by placing relics of its intolerant past firmly in the past which would allow the university, to this day known for its racist climate, to work toward a future brightened by equality.

Protesting members of the Klan report that they were protesting to decry the lost Southern symbolism that once embodied everything that used to be Ole Miss.

We all know illegal immigration is having an impact, but here are some details for Mississippi.  It is time our leaders get serious.  We are losing  jobs to illegals, crime rates are increasing, and our schools are packed to the max; the people who are paying are the citizens while all the advocacy seems to be for the illegals.  It is time for our state governments to protect their citizens.

I’ve been receiving phone calls and emails from members of the local Tupelo chapter of the Mississippi White Knights of the Klu Klux Klan.  They are going to be protesting in the circle at Ole Miss Saturday before the Ole Miss v. LSU game.  They are hoping that in some way their protest will overturn the decision of Chancellor Dan Jones and bring “Dixie” back. What they don’t realize is that any issue they back, educated people will generally stand against.

These guys aren’t who they used to be and are in reality about nine uneducated young blue collar rednecks who don’t like black people because it’s been beaten into their heads since they were young.  They are super nice “good ‘ol boy” types and if everone will leave the be and let them have their 30 minutes of protest, they will leave in peace and Old Miss will look like a civilized educated place to live.  I hope this will happen.

A year ago Ole Miss was the host of a presidential debate that brought tons of publicity to the university and we were portrayed for the first time in years, as a progressive institution.  Hundreds of memebers of the media decended on our campus and were pleasantly surprised by our hospitality and quite frankly our intelligence.

Earlier this year the Associated Student Body asked that students stop yelling “The South will rise again.”  While their request was done in and odd and impropper fashion, it was a request by the student government and should be respected.  People began backing the ASB and asking in more respectful fashions that the chant stop.  Students refused to chant and in a fit of protest began chanting louder and being far more beligerent about the topic.  Most students said they weren’t shouting because they were racist, they were shouting because of tradition.

In no way is the chat a university tradition, nor has it ever been.  Students were blinding following each other like lemmings off of a cliff and when “From Dixie With Love,” was taken away everyone acted surprised.

If we would have all simply respected the wishes of the universities governing bodies and respected the dignity of those around us this problem would have ended before it ever started.  Instead we received national media attention, showing our students as ignorant racists.  If students want to be seen as ignorant racists that is their own decision but in persisting in this chant, these students are shining an equally negative light on myself and other students around me who choose to respect our authorities and those around us.

If the students didn’t see the light at first, when people like the KKK and Richard Barrett began fighting for them and backing their decisions, they should have seen the error in their ways.  When people who are this racist jump in and start fighting for your free speach, you’ve just gotten in bed with some pretty seedy characters.  This issue has gotten out of hand and has gone too far.

It was never an issue of free speach because no one is being banned from saying something and no one’s rights are being taken away.  No one has the right to hear Dixie at the end of a game, and no one was told that if they chanted “The South will rise again,” that they will be kicked out of school or thrown in jail.  They were asked not to chant and when they didn’t, the Chancellor asked that the band stop playing Dixie because the song is what triggered the chant.

This is the end of my rant, I hope it has made some sense.

This video was posted by two University of Mississippi students  in response to Ole Miss’s decision to stop playing its traditional fight song From Dixie With Love due to the words chanted by Ole Miss fans at the end of the song.  The words  ”The South Shall  Rise Again”  caused some people to feel that the song was supporting segregation. The University decided to stop the band from playing the song during football games.

Once again in the good ole state of Mississippi a few of the good ole boys have decided to show their true colors. In response to Ole Miss’s Chancellor Dan Jones enforcing the decision to not play the song From Dixie with Love at the football games due to the words “The South Shall Rise Again” being chanted at the end of the song, these two young men douchebags decided that they would record their thoughts on the decision and post the video on YouTube for the world to see.

Notice how eagerly they say the word nigger, must have learned that at home home huh?

For some people the words:

The South Shall Rise Again

holds no particular meaning, but for those who know anything about The South you know that a chant of those words means, we welcome segregation, bring on the white robes and confederate flags. The saying is defined in Wikipedia as:  A slogan popular with the KKK and other old Confederate factions after the  of American Civil War 1861-1865

 The big problem is not so much with the slogan itself even though it carries along with it a history of hate and racism. It is the idea that those who use it know very well that the slogan is linked to segregation and hate yet they choose to use it anyway. They choose to chant it proudly because of one ultimate reason, and that reason being that they totally agree with what it is linked to. These two students proved that with their ignorant YouTube rant.

Things never seem to change in Cotton Land smh.

Heather Ellis racially motivated over-prosecution in Dixie

Another year in America, and another slew of racially motivated, manipulated and biased application of the laws.Why am I not surprised that a small southern town in the South could over prosecute a crime that generally only garners a slap on the wrist, and a stern talking to.

Our ugly American tradition of prosecuting black people at a level that is akin to def-con 4, for minor offenses that statistically only net a very minor and negligible fine, has got to either stop, or be exposed to the world as a crime against humanity.

If it is proven to be the case in any prosecution, especially this one, then we as people should demand that it is stopped now.

If not now…when.

This latest case of unfair prosecution would be laughable if it were not actually happening.

The AP is reporting that nearly three years after Heather Ellis switched checkout lines at a southeast Missouri store and touched off what she calls a racially charged dispute with white customers and authorities, the young black schoolteacher faces a trial that could send her to prison for 15 years.

15 years for cutting in line is as ridiculous as it is over-reaching.This is what happens to black women and men in the south as a tradition.If you go there, all the southern states, state flags are just a slightly altered versions of the racist Confederate flag, because they still admire and aspire to be just like their Civil war ancestors.

The KKK has joined forces with the local police department in the small southern country town,Kennett,Missouri-which is about a two-hour drive from Memphis,Tennessee, by inserting racism  in to the story when Ellis was handed KKK cards from a Kennett police officer warning her about her actions.

 The cards from the kkkowardly kkkops stated, “You’ve just been paid a social visit by the Ku Klux Klan; the next visit will not be social.” The officer claims that he only showed the family the cards to make them aware of the situation.

Since that time, and after a dramatic plea for support, people have come to help Heather.

My question is…what is the situation that they are alluding too?…and what are the police doing promoting the Ku Klux Klan? This is a rhetorical question, as I know the answer, which is that southern cops, like a lot of police officers here in America, prefer to kill, destroy and abuse black people, since they no longer have the right to do so, ever since President Lincoln beat their weak Confederation of rebel states, and freed the slaves.

In the 60’s the government stepped in and ended the institutionalized segregation, that was much harsher than Apartheid, but similar, known as the Jim Crow laws, which was in fact, a de facto system of slavery and segregation that caused a lot of our black American citizens to be viciously murdered by mobs of white Klan members and their supporters down south, without the fear of legal retaliation, or prosecution of any kind.

The Jim Crow laws were enforced by the police departments, and the local fathers, in these small country towns, up until the time of John F. Kennedywrote the Civil Rights Bills, and signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson, who grew up in a small southern town in Texas, and was well versed on the murderous contempt that the local police always hold for black perpetrators who were always falsely accused of a crime they did not commit.

We all must remember that only a mere 35 years ago, a black man could be legally hanged from a tree until he/she was dead, for simply looking a white man or woman in the eyes. The law was called malicious eyeballing, and was the main reason why the white politicians from the southern states wanted to maintain states rights.

Simply put, they did not want the federal government preventing them from killing and unfairly incarcerating our people with unreasonable jail sentences for minor offenses like what they are attempting to do in this case with Heather.

The Academy Award winning movie ”Sounder” was about such a case of over prosecution.

It follows the lives of an impoverished southern black family that made a living by sharecropping, which was just an extension of slavery,but was patterned after indentured servitude in the Jim Crow south.

The premise of the story shows what happens to a black family down south in Louisiana,when the father is imprisoned for stealing pig meat and chicken out of hunger and desperation, the boy still hungers for an education which was illegal to get if you happened to be black.

Any black man who let it be found out that he/she could read and write, were summarily executed by a white mob of killers.

It is still their main goal, but they are willing to infiltrate the police departments and the judicial system down south, as they have done there for centuries.

The facts in the case are in dispute.Prosecutors say Heather cut in line, and then when called out for it, she caused a major disturbance at the store.The police say that words were exchanged between Heather and the customer she allegedly cut in front of, and that groceries were pushed to the side.

No fighting occurred as reported, and Heather paid and proceeded to leave. In Los Angeles a similar exchange that did have a physical element to it led to the death of Latasha Harlins, before the officers arrived, so Ellis was wise to leave the store at this point.

When the police showed up, they took only the words of the white patron and store employee, and started to question and detain Heather.

She was upset at this time, and answered the cops with a retort that they did not like, but they have not reported that she verbalized a terrorist threat at all. What I do know of cops, is that they like to put black people back in our places, as we all witnessed via the Rodney King beating video.

Basically, they did not like what she said or did, and given that their grandfathers would have just strung her up to a tree, they could not let it go with a simple disturbing the peace ticket.

Nathaniel Ellis, Heather’s father, says that’s not true, and that his daughter was the one called racial slurs by a store clerk and officers, which seems more believable than a black women down south, and from the south, would do, rather than risk getting murdered by a racist cop.

It is a good story, since most people down south that are not black, are predisposed to believe the most racist and vile stereotypes of our people that they have created without any basis in the truth.

“They just indict her and launch an all-out attack to destroy her character and assassinate her future” says Ellis. “This is her choice, not to admit fault in an area where she hasn’t done anything and so we’re standing by her.

Ellis maintains she was merely joining her cousin, whose checkout line was moving more quickly. She claimed in a written complaint to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People that she was then pushed by a white customer, hassled by store employees, called racial slurs and physically mistreated by Kennett police officers.

Police say in court documents that Ellis refused requests to calm down and leave the property, allegedly kicking one’s shin and splitting another’s lip. Her trial on charges of assaulting police officers, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace began today, Wednesday in Dunklin County Circuit Court.

Hundreds of protestors showed up and held a rally at the courthouse that was answered by a Klan rally.

“There’s nothing that I could imagine that could’ve happened in the walls of that Wal-Mart that justifies this young woman, this Pastor’s daughter with no criminal record and on her way to medical school, going to prison for 15 minutes, let alone 15 years” says Dr. Boyce Watkins, a Professor at Syracuse University in the North.

Ellis’ family says they have been threatened by the Ku Klux Klan since speaking publicly about Heather’s case. They’ve asked the U.S. Department of Justice to get involved.

Again, I am not surprised that a black woman down south is being subjected to this malicious prosecution, but is a good example of the level of hatred that many of our white citizens and leaders have for African-Americans.

In this case, the KKK along with the judicial system in that small Missouri town are once again using the criminal justice system as a way to rid themselves of what they perceive to be the continuing problem brought on by the freeing of the black slave system that they financially benefitted from for so many years.

PIXIE, DIXIE Y MISTER JINKS

Esta serie Creada por Hanna y Barbera para los estudios de la Metro Glodwyn Mayer , para la televisión, fue emitida para los estadounidenses por primera vez el 2 de octubre de 1958. dentro del Show de Hucklberry Hound.

La serie un tanto al estilo de su producción anterior de Tom y Jerry, trata de la animadversión que tiene un gato,por dos ratones que conviven juntos en la casa.

Jinks en la versión española tiene , por cierto, acento andaluz y es muy resalado. Y su frase favorita es “Odio a ezoz marditoh roedoreh “

Jinks tan solo se adereza de una pajarita azul. Dixie también lleva una pajarita azul, tiene un acento charro, no más, mientras que Pixie lleva un chalequito marrón y habla con acento cubano.

Los ratones hartos de ser perseguidos por el gato con una escoba mojada y siempre están pensando ardides para vengarse del gato y poder conseguir el queso que tanto ansían.

A recent and random comment to a random bloggist blob that had written some “advice” towards the stupid health care debate.

I stick to a more common and softer language in this than I usually provide. But I nevertheless drive a fury of points home.

I think that unless any of you are as crazy as Glen Beck, Jesse Ventura, or Ron Paul you’ll never truly understand the real world.
I don’t think many of us really expect anything from what you do. How you feel is pretty insignificant compared to the fact most of us are probably writing these comments from a single room apartment w/ our desperate but tired families. A few might have sixty one rooms but are alone.
Are you as pissed as the rest that even as American and civilian casualties break some new records (like last month’s “deadliest” month in Afghanistan) Bin Ladin is still loose. This is in spite of who we might have captured and sent away on a one way ticket to a country Americans just so happen can’t visit or trade with. Regardless of what tyrant we take out, Bin Ladin is still free. The sole father of hell on 9/11 is the one we are concerned about over seas.
Millions of us saw our coworkers jump out of buildings over 100 stories high on 9/11 or on countless replays since. We watched our loved ones on planes going home in one frame and them dissolving into four separate infernos.
On 9/11 we all watched as the coolest part of NY, the blue devil horns of Manhattan (as they appeared from Jersey) the optimism of a generation collapse in a fiery, smokey heap of melted and distorted steel. The dust and ash of insinirated citizens that bravely did not slept in that Tuesday morning filled the sky and climbed higher than any buildings ever have.
NO, a lot of us haven’t forgotten 9/11. Every day our world is reminded of it. The anti-terrorist policies at home has effected more citizens than any enemy.
According to an article on Business Wire seventy-five percent of the children of 9/11 are still grieving. I lost my mother last year and I can’t imagine how grief will end. I truly can not imagine how the nearly three thousand children under eighteen who lost a parent or parents on 9/11 (Times Online) ever felt forgiveness and acceptance. Something tells me they all did. They were forced to be the strongest and their survival is an real testament to their strength.
And many millions more still grieve the loss of a family member or friend in the wars of Iraq and Afghanistan (Where next!?). No part of either war has eased our grief. None besides the brave soldier we pray for.
We know that our grievances are still a list more from there. We are allowed Tea Parties and a lot of us have been empowered by them. But at the same time there are vast minorities of citizens that think “party’s over. Let’s throw something overboard.” You hear a few like that everyday.
I have fifty characters left. How about you?
Please use our time with something better someday, k? Tell us something we can remember!

Talk about “author intrusion,”* which, of course, I’m doing now in a MAJOR way, but for some reason, I am egomaniacal enough – or feel strongly enough about this point – to have the nerve to think I can get away with it.

Of course, the New Yorker in me wants to warn you: I’ve only been here a few weeks, so they COULD be putting on an devastatingly good show (California, Hollywood, Oscar…), and I SHOULD keep checking my back for knives…

But honestly, if these folks aren’t genuinely nice, then I’ve landed where Ira Levin got his idea for The Stepford Wives, because everybody – and I do mean everybody – walks around with a light step, a friendly smile, and an open outlook.

This is either the Cosmic Galactic Nexus of Benevolence, or these folks are gobsmackingly realistic test robots for Disneyland’s newest animatronic attraction.

They’re cheerful and concerned for others in a state with a bigger unemployment problem and more housing foreclosures than New York.

And, unlike New York – and particularly unlike, say…oooh, I dunno, GEORGIA, they are warm and inviting to strangers. Even strangers who come from scary and disreputable places like New York. No one here has prejudged us at all.

These folks are even charming and positive in an area located less than – well, my guess would be, less then twelve inches from the Sun.

I can’t seem to figure it out. We aren’t any closer to the equator (although maybe we’re WAYYYY higher. As in, we’re astronauts. Californunauts.)

When they say “sunny California,” they aren’t just whistling Dixie.

(Side note: having made a side trip on the way to visit family in Rocky Plains, Georgia, I know what I’m talking about when I say “Dixie,” too.)

The sun is so strong here I carry a bottle of water around with me nearly everywhere I go, wishing I could haul a tank around, like someone on oxygen. I never realized what a deliciously humid state New York actually was.

Someone PLEASE let me know what moisturizing cream I need. I’m going to look about 45 years old in about 45 minutes. In another 45, I’ll look 90. As it is, the jar that used to last me six months is half gone.

In fact, Californians are SO friendly, that in a recent trip to a music store (I was rescuing a guitar I’d discovered that had been criminally abused) I got to joking with the owner, who began to tease me – and then somehow, things got a little weird.

Now, if you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, you’ve probably caught on: I’m not someone you want to DARE.

Play chicken with me? You’re pretty much guaranteed two totaled cars.

So when I jokingly said: “Well, then, I’ll just have to get one big, fat, sloppy kiss,” never in a million years thinking he would take me up on it – for no one in their right mind in New York would take that phrase as ANYTHING but, er, symbolic, when the music store owner said something along the lines of me not having the nerve…

… Well, what could I do? Apparently, he was calling my bluff – or thought I was bluffing. I had my entire state’s reputation to defend.

It was only later, perusing my copy of The Secret, Closely-Guarded Girl Manual, that I remembered that those of us with a little too much tomboy in them have to be wary of dares and the like, and that boys will steal kisses when they can, particularly from impulsive redheads.

So I called his bluff back, and dashed over boldly right behind his workspace, again, never dreaming his own oncoming car would not swerve.

Yet swerve he did NOT, and put his arms around me, and kissed me like Bogart kissed Bergman in Casablanca.

Yipes.

Careful to keep my New York cool, I then shook his hand and said:

“How do you do? I’m Elizabeth. And your name is?”

“Larry,” he said. “Welcome to California.”

MONTICELLO, ARK. — Arkansas plays Ole Miss this weekend following “Ref-gate” at Florida.

In case you’ve been in a cave with no reception bars, I’ll make this quick: three horrible calls changed the momentum of the game, leading to a kick made after the play clock expired. The SEC apologized for the most egregious call , suspended the repeat offenders and reprimanded the Arkansas coach for commenting on the mess.

Drama? At least it kept the Houston Nutt haters too busy to provide that drama. But just when you think it’s going to be a drama-free game off the field, the Ole Miss student government suggests the band use the phrase “To Hell with LSU” to end a medley played at the beginning and end of football games.

I personally don’t have a problem with the “To Hell with LSU” reference. My Cajun friends would wear it as a badge of honor, noting they’ve been very, very, very, very good compared to Ole Miss, which must love the fact it’s got a little brother in Starkville that at least makes it look good sometimes. ;0)

But I get a little riled learning the intent is to remove the phrase “The South Will Rise Again” in the chant at the end of the song, “From Dixie With Love.” This song mixes the Confederate Army’s fight song – “Dixie” – with the Union Army’s fight song: “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” a song found in my Baptist Hymnal as a child, presumably for the initial lead of “Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord” or the refrain, “Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!” … I digress.

Anyway, I think they got the whole thing wrong. Look at the money in the SEC compared to other conferences: the South HAS risen again! The SEC commissioner should send out a mandate to every conference school MANDATING the teams no longer wear white jerseys, the band plays “From Dixie With Love” at every game and every fan be required to chant “The South Will Rise Again” followed by five short blasts of “SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC!” to be allowed entrance or exit into the games.

Yes, some will say this smacks of the plantation mentality exhibited during The South’s agrarian years. I disagree; The plantation mentality never disappeared from the football fields. We watch as young men give the best years of their minds and bodies without compensation.

If they hit the lottery, they get to go pro and we complain about the outlandish salaries they receive. Considering the recent information on the effects of the game, you’ve got to wonder: are they making enough? And what about those who suffered from the effects but never got the payday?

That’s where the real drama is (and Ani chants “That’s where the truth is at; that’s where the truth is at”).

And yet, even though I now know this, I cannot say, “I won’t watch SEC football.” Am I evil?
