I created custom invitations for Leanne’s Bridal Shower. To create the invitations, I downloaded a free font that was inspired by the Tiffany & Company logo font. I printed the invites at home on textured teal paper that I bought at Michael’s Craft Store. I used my Michael’s 40% off one item coupon to purchase a 50 pack invitation kit (white cardstock postcard invitations and envelopes). Using a scrapbook taperoller I attached the printed teal paper to the white invitation and added a self-stick rhinestone. With a dab from the glue gun I added ribbon and a white bow on the side of the invitation. Cost of supplies for 40 homemade Tiffany invitations: $28

For the Breakfast at Tiffany’s brunch menu I made a few of my famous quiche , waldorf chicken salad sandwiches and ham, brie, apple sandwiches. We ordered bagels, a variety of cream cheeses and muffins from a local bakery. An easy-eat and a fresh menu.

The centerpiece of the food table was a borrowed large martini glass filled with some borrowed costume jewelry and an empty Tiffany’s bag and box.

We offered an extensive brunch bar! Mimosas, bloody Marys, peach bellinis, wine and iced tea served with fruit.  There’s something about adding fresh fruit to your drink that makes it seem…fancy!  Notice how each white dish is bordered with teal ribbon.  The ribbon was purchased at Joanne Fabrics and we used a dab of glue from a glue gun to hold the ribbon around the dish.  Don’t worry, the glue peels right off the dish once the party is over.

I purchased teal fabric from Joanne Fabrics for $19.  Using fabric tape I created a few square overlays for the dessert and food tables. It was a spurge but layering a few pieces of fabric around really transformed the room

Our big splurge was a Tiffany & Co gift box cake made by Cakes & Candies by Maryellen.  The cake made a big statement when the guests arrived and it tasted oh so good!

I made Oreo pops and marshmallow pops to compliment the cake. The white chocolate I died with some blue food coloring and the white-ball sprinkles I bought at JoAnne Fabrics.

The maid of honor had a great idea – to display wedding photos of the bride and groom’s relatives at the shower.  Some photos were only a couple years old and some were over 50 years old!

Making the centerpieces was so easy! We purchased teal wrapping paper from Target and white ribbon from Joanne Fabrics. We bought to-go cake boxes from AC Moore (3.99 for a pack of 10). Wrapping the boxes with the wrapping paper and ribbon transformed them into Tiffany gift boxes. We cut off the top of the box and put a juice glass inside the box. Fill the juice glass with water and flowers and you’re done!

I love posting signs in the bathroom.  It’s unexpected and shows your attention to detail.  I created the fun sign above and tapped it inside the bathroom on the door.

Using the Tiffany inspired font, I created a sign for the front door, the gift table and for the back of the bathroom door .  I also made labels for all of the food and drinks.  To create a cute detail, I stuck a self-stick rhinestone on each. Making Your Own Wedding Invitations

Your wedding invitations are more than just an announcement of your wedding day. They’re an expression of your personal style and a cue for your guests about the kind of ceremony you’ll have. Make the message they bear much more than just the who, what, when and where of your wedding with wedding invitations you make yourself. A beautifully designed wedding invitation is a little gift of art from you to your guests. They’ll cherish the invitation itself as a memento of the occasion, so make your invitations special.

Printed Invitations

The days of dot-matrix printers and perforated paper are long gone. Modern kits let you make your own wedding invitations that match professional invitations in quality. Unlike professionally engraved invitations, you have your choice of something livelier than bells, birds and bows to decorate your invitations. Look for art, fonts and paper that says something special about you and your future spouse. If you’re both movie buffs, you might choose a film border for your invitations. Pay a whimsical homage to your mutual love of coffee or collies in your art choices.

Hand-Decorated Invitations

Smaller weddings give you the chance to personalise each invitation. You don’t have to be an artist to create fanciful stamps or stencils to adorn your invitations. Craft stores sell stamps that give you a huge range of options. Of course, if you do happen to be an artist, painting landscapes or sketching portraits for individual invitations will make an unforgettable impact. Keep your time constraints in mind, though; it’s easy to become so wrapped up in hand-painting your DIY wedding invitations that you miss the deadline to send them.

Art Papers

Decorative papers make any wedding invitation look special. Try your hand at embossing your own thicker card stock or buy ready-made embossed paper to decorate part or all of the front of the invitation. Papers with flowers, glitter or leaves embedded in the fibers have a gorgeous handmade look to them. If you’re truly ambitious, you could make your own paper, embedding flowers from your garden or that match your bouquet in the paper. Trim invitations that include multiple types of paper with ribbon to hide the seams where papers join for a polished look.

Trim

Make your own wedding invitations shine with ribbons, beadwork or other decorative accents that add style without contributing costly bulk to the invitations. You’ll need to pay postage on everything in the envelope, so choose lightweight materials such as feathers or origami paper designs instead of metal ornaments or glass beads. One sweet idea: use items you collected together on your beach vacation or a romantic picnic as decorative elements on your invitations.

Don’t be afraid to move beyond folded rectangular invitations on light-hued paper. Round, square or triangular invitations have their own unusual charm. Silver and gold inks give you leeway to use any colour you like for the paper. The important thing is that you infuse your invitations with plenty of personal style. They can’t help but be a hit when you put a little of yourself into each handmade wedding invitation.

For the invitations, we printed the information on kraft paper, which can be found at your local craft store or paper store, using the font Made with B. For the carrot in the lower corner, we used a wine cork, cut a few slices out of the bottom and dipped it in ink. The leaves and roots were drawn freehand with a permanent green thin-tipped marker. These invitations were very easy to make and can be done by anyone with a computer and printer.

The table was set shaded in the garden. We used white and silver china place settings on white table clothes. A strip of green burlap ran down the middle of the table with potted herbs scattered throughout.

The ladies sipped on raspberry lemonade cocktails: half Simply Lemonade (raspberry flavor), half champagne. They were topped with mint and frozen strawberries. Very refreshing on a hot summer day!

All the lunch dishes featured fresh herbs from Stef’s garden. The Peach Caprese was a big hit. Just a twist on the traditional tomato salad: Sliced peaches, sliced fresh mozzarella, fresh basil and a drizzle of white balsamic vinegar.

Waldorf Penne, a recipe from Rachel Ray Magazine, was served with fresh chives.

A crisp Summer Barley Salad included: mixed greens, barley, red & yellow peppers, grape tomatoes, feta cheese, walnuts, basil and a homemade balsamic dressing with garlic and shallots.

Anne made dirt cups placed in small mason jars, topped with miniature flowers and tied kraft paper with each guests name around the edge. Katie and Stef ate “sand” instead of “dirt” due to their uncommon aversion to chocolate.

All guests were previously asked to send the hosts a baby picture. The pictures were printed and tied on a makeshift clothes line with some newborn onesies. Guests were given a worksheet and asked to figure out each baby in the pictures. It turned out much more difficult than expected, but a lot of fun!

The second game was “Name that Herb.” All centerpiece herbs were numbered, using the same font and kraft paper as the invitation. The winners of each game won homemade jam or conserve made by fellow blogger Colleen of Flee Fly Flown. The herbs were passed out as party favors at the end of the day.

This one is more useful for those who are trying to be creative and create their own Wedding Invites!

In a way this job is simple, but it needs to be done properly so that the invites don’t look like they weren’t done professionally.

My suggestion is find a company that specialises in wedding invites but supports the DIY function.

I used a company in Sydney called ” Truly Madly Deeply” 

They were very helpful and the girls that work there are very imaginative and will use all their creative flair to help you find or create the perfect invite for your BIG day.

I had a browse in their showroom and came up with an invite which was floral but at the same time classy and had a soft touch as we are getting married in a resort in Thailand.

This was my inspiration:

The key feature is the PINK orchid

and the colour combination I chose was cream and brown

Here are the things I bought from the store:

1. Pink Orchid flowers

2. Vine

3. Ribbon

4. Textured paper for the front of the invitation

5. Brown card

6. Invitation inserts ( we got these professionally printed)

Now the craft necessities:

7. Craft glue for the paper

8. Glue gun and lots of glue sticks

The design was as such:

The ribbon was glued with craft glue across the middle of the textured paper like so:

Then the textured paper was stuck to the pre-cut brown card folded in half to make a card

I cut up the vine and stuck 2 orchid flowers side by side with hot glue on top

Then the insert with the actual wording was glued to the inside.

We also bought some DIY boxes and printed our names and initials on the front.

It takes a bit of time and a bit of creativity to put these together but once you get going, its just figuring out how fancy and complex you want your invitations to be and a bit of personal flair is always appreciated in these things.
