I love the look of a classic trenchcoat. I searched for months online to find one that flattered my body type as well as my wallet and finally came up with this $30.00 coat that I ordered from www.target.com a few years ago. The brand is coffee shop. As I was posing for these pics hail started to violently attack me from the heavens so that is why you see me in different shoes in some of the pics.

The night before I wore this outfit I tried experimenting with nail art and gave myself a diy mani-pedi. It was inspired by my rasta colors beanie. I’m pretty happy with the result.

Approximately two months to go until the big day! Feeling pretty good for the most part …

Which means I am actually starting to think about what we would like to accomplish AFTER the big day (ahhhh back to some normalcy!)…item number one being, get a new/larger apartment! Something to fit the bill between me finishing school/Sig-O getting a better job and us hopefully making the jump to living in Central/Western MA. Ideally, we would move sometime this summer, that way I’m not working full time and not taking classes so I can devote time to sorting, organizing, junking and packing up what belongings we have. Good opportunity to pare down some junk methinks!

The goal is to stay in Taunton (Star Wars fans: tauntaun LOL) however after a lengthy discussion with Sig-O, we have decided that the following towns are worth checking into: Somerset, Swansea, Berkley, Dighton, Rehoboth, Attleboro (North and South), Seekonk, and Norton. I’m also trying to convince him to consider FAR NORTH New Bedford and Fall River as they border more “acceptable” towns like Freetown, Acushnet, Fairhaven, Mattapoisett etc that we can look into. I lived in New Bedford before and the only issue I have with living there is that it can be isolating and what you save in rent, you make up for at the gas pump. Some of the towns listed tend to be primarily residential, with not a lot of apartment opportunities but they do still have some. It’s going to be time consuming but worthwhile. We currently have a one bedroom with very little storage space, and we LOVE it and will be SAD to leave it, but we really are outgrowing it. We desperately need more storage space and are looking for a more modern 2 bedroom with some character. Gonna put out feelers with local friends and check the papers, but I figure Craigslist will be our primary means of searching places out. Nobody likes packing up but I am looking forward to “the hunt” and getting into a new place that suits us better

I have one day of work tomorrow then I am off for February vaca. Shower was postponed until this Saturday, and I have plans to get through a lot of nitty gritty wedding prep (one thing is going to be going out collecting twigs, pictures/explanation to come IF it works in my favor…) this week with my free time as well. (oh and I should get ahead on schoolwork too! And some cooking/baking is in order!)

Now if you will excuse me, I am LONG overdue for a DIY pedicure. Warmer weather means baring some tootsies and mine are not in acceptable condition currently!

It’s always fun to go out and pamper yourself, and you should, every women deserves to. But during that in between time you can do your own Pedi for yourself at home. I want to show you what you need to create your own DIY Pedicure at home that will leave you feeling oh so pampered. Once your done you’ll be ready to slide those lil tootsies into some hot spring sandals.

1. DIY Foot Soak: First start out by choosing one of these foot soak recipes to start melting away the stress and relieve those sore feet.

Lavender Herbal Foot Soak Recipe:

Ingredients:

5 liters of water

2 drops of lavender essential oil

1/4 cup of sea salt or Epsom salt

Preparation:

Boil water and cool down a bit

Add lavender oil and salt

Immerese your feet

Lavender is not only used in relaxing bubble baths and foot massage, it is a wonderful ingredients for your feet. It smells good and provides relaxation your feet need.

You could also try sandlewood or Ylang Ylang oils, they also have a soothing effect.

Peppermint Foot Soak Recipe:

Ingredients:

Water enough to cover your feet and reach your ankles

3 drops of peppermint essential oil

1 drop of eucalyptus essential oil and 1 drop of lemon essential oil (these two are optional but aid the invigorating sensation of this recipe

Preparation:

Boil water and let it cool down a bit.

Add the oils and keep the feet in as long as you like

2. DIY Foot Scrub: Now it’s time to choose a recipe to exfoliate away all those dead skin cells and leave your feet feeling soft.

Brown Sugar Foot Scrub Recipe:

Try a brown sugar foot scrub and use the leftovers on rough knees or elbows. Use your blender to grind 2 tablespoons uncooked oatmeal into a fine powder. Pour into a small bowl and add 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon each of honey and lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon olive oil. Blend into a paste and then massage into your feet, taking care not to slip on the oil. Rub well into your heels to smooth any rough patches and then rinse with warm water.

Sea Salt Foot Scrub Recipe:

Rub a sea salt scrub only on your feet or make enough to polish your whole body. Combine 1 cup sea salt or table salt, 1/4 cup uncooked cornmeal and 1/4 cup baby oil, olive oil or sweet almond oil. Wash your feet and then gently rub on the mixture and rinse with cool water.

Sensitive Skin Foot Scrub Recipe:

Soothe sensitive skin with an oatmeal and aloe vera foot scrub. Grind 1/4 cup uncooked oatmeal in a blender so it’s very fine. Pour it into a bowl with 1/4 cup uncooked cornmeal, 1/4 cup sea salt or kosher salt, 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel and 1/4 cup of your favorite lotion. Mix the ingredients to form a paste. Massage into your feet, paying extra attention to your heels. Rinse off with warm water.

3. DIY Foot Cream: Now it’s time to moisturize!

Peppermint or Lavender Foot Cream Recipe

Ingredients:

4oz. unrefined cocoa butter

16oz. unrefined shea butter

8oz. fractionated coconut oil

3oz. Japanese peppermint essential oil or Lavender essential oil

2oz. tea tree oil

.02oz. Liquipar Preservative (optional)

Directions: You’ll want to weigh all of your ingredients using an accurate scale. Melt the cocoa butter and shea butter together in a pot on the stove or in the microwave. Once melted, stir in your fractionated coconut oil, peppermint essential oil – I use triple distilled Japanese peppermint oil because it has more of a peppermint candy smell than a medicinal smell, tea tree oil, and liquipar if using a preservative. Mix well with a spoon, then pour into your final containers. Screw on the lid and set in the fridge to cool until hardened.

These are some online retailers that carry these ingredients: SoapGoods, Mountain Rose Herbs, Halaleveryday on Amazon, Tanya’s Bath and Body

4. Polish: Now it’s time to add some color! The hot nail color shades for Spring 2012 are Pastel Polish.
