1. How did you get involved with Summer Sizzle? NCD Resources booked me.

2. Have you played a fashion show before? DJs seemed to get tapped a lot for fashion shows.  Why do think that is? Is there something more accessible about a DJ than an artist or band? Yeah, I’ve been doing runway shows for 8 years.  When you look at the major fashion designers throughout the world, they have been using DJs for their shows for years, I think many people just see it as a standard.  It’s almost more out-of-the-ordinary to have a live act play during a show.

3. The age -old discussion:  The connection between music and fashion.  What’s your take? Music and fashion constantly change and consistently influence each other.  Today’s world moves at an incredibly fast pace. The marriage of music and fashion defines what is relevant (culture-wise).

4. What is a must-wear item for a DJ during a set? Why? Headphones…..so the DJ can keep the mix on beat.  haha

5. Why is your name PREPMODE? Because a 1 word name is easy to remember.

Yesterday I deejayed the Thuy Fashion Show in Bryant Park.  I have to say it was one of the most exciting performances I’ve been a part of.  The atmosphere was electric from the pre-show to the actual runway walk. Here is a video of the fashion show minus my music.  I’m also adding some pics as well.

Last night, I attended a concert or shall I call it a rave at the new Lakeside Pizza (formerly the Deep End, formerly Pierce Street) in Tahoe City.  It was LOUD!  They brought in extra speakers taller than me to pump up the volume, and it was indeed pumping, throbbing.  My ear drum was literally vibrating, and I could feel the hairs on the top of my head slightly swaying to the music.  The dance floor, and the entire venue was packed with a variety of folks, a lot of freaks (especially Burners-in-wating) and a multitude of glow sticks.

Bassnectar aka DJ Loren took the stage at around 11:00 p.m.  It was a small space where the DJ table was set up, and Bassnectar had filled the small space with his interesting entourage of 11 or 12.  The beats were hard and repetitive drums interspersed with strange sounds and noises.  A few well known songs were sampled, but the set was mostly thumping drums and psycadellic, hallucingenic sound waves.  The man with the bright green leg warmers took a rest briefly on the back couch; he showed me that yes, his leg warmers were seperate from his pants.  A girl floated about with a big flower on her head and a glow stick infused tutu.  There were spikey hair do’s and tattoos galore with a variety of neon and glow-in-the dark ensembles including fish net tights and a compacted-into- a flashlight-light show.

When Johnny and I tried to take our usual position in front row center, I almost got whacked in the face by a sweaty dreadlock.  I realized my open-toe shoes were just not going to work.  And when I tried to defend my space my pushing a man in front of me on his back, my hand was quickly coated in a layer of warm perspiration – gross!  It was beyond claustrophobic; I lasted about 5 minutes before I thought I might pass and knock my head on the high-heeled black patent leather spiked boot of the lady next to me.

The upper floor/bar area was a much more comfortable area to reside in with lots of open space and ample room for people watching.  I was quite happy with the beer selection and the prices were decent until towards the end of the night when I ordered a water, and the bartender told me that would be $3.  Yeah right!  The beer is only $4!  I guess they’ll have to learn the hard way when multiple intoxicated people get sick on their hardwood floor.  Water should be free, especially at a rave-type show.

All in all, it was a relatively fun night.  I’ll give it a 3 1/2 out of 4 stars.

A partir de ese momento essential mix ha tenido grandes sopresas, al grado que muchas de sus seciones memorables han sido editadas en cd. De las mas memorables la de Paul oakenfold que incluso gano premios, David Holmes que logro una mezcla que iba de nancy wilson a Jimi Hendrix, o la que mas me gusta que es la de los scratch perverts.

Por otro lado tenemos a COLDCUT que es un par de productores musicales que se interesan siempre en inovar al grado que su prodcuccion musical pareciera pasar a segundo grado opacada por sus otros logros como creacion de software o piezas de video, escuchen una sesion de essential Mix con coldcut y esperen el proximo blog. se agradecen comentarios
