It’s been a while since I’ve written here. I was supposed to start this entry about half an hour ago, but I became intrigued when I saw a wonderful knitted hat on livejournal.

Cute, isn’t it? One day, I will attempt this pattern. Until then, I’m strictly on scarves. Speaking of knitting, last night I learned how to purl (it’s pretty much backwards knitting, for those who aren’t in with knitting lingo). When I finish my current project, I will have to make something new. Haha, it will probably be a scarf again, but I can use a different pattern.

Well, today is my last exam (YAY). I am excited to get out of this room and just get back to Toronto. See familiar faces – that are smiling at me, not past me. Also, I will enjoy the full night sleep for the next 2 weeks, because next term I will have 3 days where I have to wake up for 8:30 classes – opposed to this term where I had only 2 days of 8:30 classes.

HOPEFULLY, I will be coming home tonight. Last night, my mom sent me a text message (of all things) asking me to take the bus to Toronto. This last minute thing just pissed me the hell off. I couldn’t study properly for the rest of the night. If she told me a week or 2 ago I could have bought my ticket. Now, I don’t know. I’m expecting a text from her today. She better not send it to me during my exam. Ugh, it’s just frustrating. I just want to get away from here.

I got word that Melina and Jessica got my letters? Hope you like. I tried to personalize them. Unfortunately for Alex, I ranted a little. Sorry Alex. I’ll make it up to you. Maybe bake some cookies – I’ve been craving peanut butter cookies for a while.

This year, I am SCREWED on money though. It’s terribly unfortunate. I am currently with an agency here in Waterloo and just call them up when I need to make a little extra cash. When I return, I will have almost no money, so they are getting a call that monday morning.

Okay, enough of my ramblings. It’s been a while since you’ve experienced one of my fun LOOK-SEE!s. So here’s one I found.

I never thought of myself as a fan of combat boots- mainly because I couldn’t think of a way to wear them.  I now know how- and I am interested.  A friend of mine left a link to lookbook.nu on Facebook- a link to a Doc Marten’s look book- and I found the photos completely inspiring.  These girls know exactly what to pair with the boots- they bring the element of femininity to the edgy and masculine look of Doc Martens

Based on my birth length and heights of my parents, it was predicted that I would be 5′ 9″ at full adult height.
As it is, I’m exactly the correct height to be a jockey.

I used to despise my height; now I adore it.

The length of my hair has become somewhat of an obsession: I intend to grow it as long as possible. It gets madder and more ringlety with every inch.

I used to hate my hair too; now I love it.

I, for whatever reason, looked up scarification photos; I wonder if I could get a Scar scar? In all seriousness? Along with a Dark Mark, Jack Sparrow’s sparrow, Bellatrix’s prisoner number on my neck and musical notation (as tattoos, not scars, owwy) everywhere. If only I was rich and didn’t need to get a job eventually.

I’m so short and stocky: I’m very Mediterranean.

I’ve stayed at the same weight for weeks. I NEED TO LOSE MORE.
On the plus side I’m under 11 stone. I haven’t been this weight since I was at school.

I see people the size of small planets and want to be sick, then I remember I look exactly like them and it’s almost, but not quite, enough to make me anorexic.

I have scar tissue on both of my heels, so thick it doesn’t feel like skin any more. They are my “badges of honour,” and they were crafted lovingly by one Doctor Marten.

I am obsessed with Bobbi Brown makeup. For a while I only used Bobbi Brown products on my face. And then the recession hit and now I buy Target brand copycat St. Ives exfoliator… It’s a bit unfair to post this chrome palette because it’s sold out on their site. (But maybe your faithful friends will check the stores for you…?) I pondered too long whether or not to get it, and when I finally clicked the “Buy” button, it was all sold out! Boo! Some sly and wily people have the palette listed on ebay, but beware! People are paying upwards of $100 for it! Aren’t they the perfect colors for the season? Doc Martens 460 8 Eye Boot Navy Smooth, $110

I used to really hate Doc Martens boots. I thought they were ugly! But I used to also hate Chucks so really, don’t mind me. I saw someone wearing these navy ones on the subway this morning and I was the creepy person staring at someone else’s shoes for the entire ride. Common, you’ve been that person before. Anyway, I wanted to ask her where she got them but I chickened out. So… dear friends and family, would YOU find out for me and put them under my tree this year? I’m a size 7. Thanks!!!

Cole Haan Marabelle Slim Wallet, $98

I saw this Cole Haan wallet and wasn’t sure if I wanted it or not. So what did I do but convince the bf to get it for his sister! I ordered the black one and when it arrived, I fell in love with it.

(The lining is purple by the way! That really sealed the deal for me.) I called the bf and went on and on about how cute it is, until finally he said, “Do you want me to just buy it for you and I’ll get my sister something else?” I said “no” 3 times before I said “Ok thanks! Oh, but you’re still giving me the other present you got me, right?… Good, then yes, I want it.” And then I hung up the phone so he wouldn’t be able to change his mind.

And that is the story of how I am 1/4 this Very Merry Christmas!

The last time I went to get my eyes checked, my doctor was so impressed with my eyeballs that she took out her digital camera to take model shots of my bizarro eyes to submit to the leading journals in ophthalmology & optometry journals. The eye adoration was nice at first, but later I sort of wanted her to stop ogling my eyes. Like Meggy said, winter is here, and today in Iowa City, there were 12 flakes of snow or possibly my insane eyes just had snowflake shaped floaters intruding in my vision?

Can you tell I have the kind of eyes that only .00001% of the eye-possessing population in America has? I’m going to see my friend Steve Elliott read from his super good, newish book, The Adderall Diaries, and then my friend is hosting his birthday/after-party, which coincides at the same time as the Melt Banana show I’m going to with Michael. So the frothy pink dress is for Steve’s birthday/reading party, the floral Doc Martens are for kicking big burly guys at the show who try to mosh up on me, and the ripped blue tights are for not doing the laundry ever.

And the gold chains? Well, they are sort of from Tibet, and it’s a long story that makes me look bad (like all of my stories.) I’ll probably just fling them off of me as soon as I get to the reading/party/show.

I’ll probably end the night with a peppermint bath and maybe a dumpling snack. Hope you’re all having a marvelous Thursday night!

As far as I’m concerned; I need these in my life.
Clarks shoes arn’t usually the most fashionable of shoes but they’re always damn comfortable and worth every penny. So when a can’t-live-without pair come along, they really are can’t-live-without. But apparantly the rest of the world agrees with me and as a result they’re sold out. Gutted!

I guess the original plan of Docs will have to do. Despite their lack of wooly lining.

Afin d’obtenir un style décontracté mais trop rock’n'roll, il vous suffit d’assortir vos Doc Martens avec des basiques comme un jean slim délavé, un pull, une veste en cuir ou un blazer. Agrémentez le tout d’une grosse écharpe et d’un bonnet en grosse maille, et vous serez parées pour affronter le froid de l’hiver !
