 A hundred years or so after the original adventure through wonderland, a new kickass Alice finds her way to a signifigantly changed Wonderland to look for her boyfriend Jack.

 This is an incredibly fantastic piece of work from the Tin-Man folks! If you can envision the original Alice in Wonderland story as a somewhat dark and wicked adventure for children, then this new Alice is like that, but for adults!

 The changes are big: this new Alice has long black hair and looks a lot like American McGee’s Alice, plus she knows karate! The Red Queen, played by the ever-imposing Kathy Bates, is still lopping off heads, but she now runs the biggest pleasure Casino in Wonderland. The Casino is stuffed with humans culled from the real world, referred to as “oysters”, who are drained of their emotions as the House of Cards lets them win and win and win, and eventually the ultimate prize: death, at the hands of soul drainage. The Mad Hatter is a thief and middle man, trying to balance the Queen’s wrath and the Resistance that fights them. The Dodo, a soldier for the Resistance who’s gone a little mad with it, is acted by the ever wicked and scheming Tim Curry! The March Hare is actually this assassin guy who had the bad taste to get killed, and is reinvented as a cyborg killing machine with, you guessed it, a rabbits head from a mad scientist. And of course, leader of the Resistance itself is the never-forgettable Caterpillar, complete with his hookah! And, quite possibly my favorite part: the Queen’s Suits (as in troops) have suits (as in playing cards) on their suits (as in clothing)! I am liking to die of amused cackles!

It’s not for everyone, and you do really need to be an Alice in Wonderland fan in order to truly appreciate this fine piece of original tv. But for those of you that are, and I know there are lots, this is truly a Wonderland of adult entertainment!

When the Governor goes and cheats on his wife with some random civilian woman, possibly a prostitute, possibly just some random housewife, whoever- everyone, automatically must know who she is. This woman is suddenly drug into the tabloids and New York Times alike, and whether she wants people to know what is published about her or not, she is forced to endure everything from her high school transcript to her underwear draw being pawed through and analyzed by the entire nation.

Now we here at The Zoo appreciate the attention that we get sometimes, and it is nice that we have been getting some attention on campus recently. But then there are the people who just take it to a point just beyond funny where I find it downright annoying. Suddenly all the information that we give out to the world just isn’t enough- our names must be revealed ASAP. Oh and just to clarify to one of these avid readers, I’ll call you J. Mayer, I am being perfectly happy and calm while I write this, so you can refrain from ever telling me to ‘Chill’ ever again. Just because I happen to have some personality does not mean that I am always angry or about to blow up at people. If you can’t take the heat stay out of the kitchen.

Along the lines of me being the “Angry” voice on the blog- yeah, it’s true, I’m cynical and harsh. But also, I say what I say because it is part of my assumed and amplified character online. I don’t always hate men. Seriously. They are a hell of a lot of fun sometimes, and I like them a lot. But if you guys think that because you read a web page about me means you are able to judge my character, you’ve got another surprise coming.

You may feel smart that you can identify us, or that you can somehow get under our skin by blowing our cover- but I don’t give a fuck. The reason why I have a pseudonym is not because I feel like if someone found out all my dirty secrets, my life would be destroyed. Hello, I’m posting on a public blog, and I write about my encounters with real people in my real life- if you can’t figure out who I am then you probably don’t know me. And I’m quite fine with that. But it is the men who think that they somehow have some great blackmail material that they can use against me and my fellow zoologists which I find irritating. The pen names that we go by aren’t only to protect our own names, but yours as well. So unless you want to start feeling like monkeys who are just slinging their own shit around at each other, I suggest you stop feeling all manly and awesome and play along with the anonymity. I mean I’m pretty sure I could start digging up dirt about you guys and make it public if I really wanted to, which I don’t because you’re lives are really of no interest to me, but hey, I’m just saying…

Besides, this blog is for fun, and we the writers want to remain kind of faceless, because these situations, while they seem really unique are actually pretty common, and we could be anyone you know. We just happen to blog about it and throw back the curtain on how life looks to college women.

None of us are just the women we are online. You could read every blog ever posted on The Zoo and when you meet us in person find that we are filled with surprises and contradictions. We might post things that look like they are really personal and scandalous, but I don’t think any of us reveal our hearts and souls through this blog. So pat yourself on the back if you’d like, keep acting like you’re the shit, just realize that you haven’t done anything to actually justify feeling that way. Congratulations guys!

So there I was, walking among those extinct hominids...

Been to the nature museum Naturalis with little doddy yesterday. To teach her something about the world she’s living in. Wonderful, this museum. They have prehistoric eggs! Little doddy immediately wanted to take them home and hatch them. Such a sweetheart!

There now is a temporary exhibition of a 1.8 million year old skull of a hominid from Georgia. A small ancester of the big boy, whose skeleton is visible behind me in the picture. So there you are, a living dodo among all those extinct hominids. It makes you wonder. Do we consider it a loss that the hominids have become extinct? It’s a natural process, isn’t it? Actually the hominids had some very priggish subspecies. Sapiens thought they had a monopoly on wisdom. Aggressive and destructive, even amongst themselves.

In a way it is a pity that these species have become extinct. They would have been an asset to biodiversity. Wouldn’t our planet be more beautiful if they were still around?

When you are in a strange place it helps to make friends, and not many places are stranger than the setting for the new Syfy Channel miniseries Alice. Innocent people from our world are being taken and brought to a parallel universe known as Wonderland. Once there, their memories are forcibly erased and they become prisoners in a casino where people never lose. The resulting emotional “high” helps sustain Wonderland’s residents, most importantly its ruler, The Queen of Hearts, and her husband, The King of Hearts. 

When Alice Hamilton arrives there in search of her kidnapped fiance Jack, she turns to come of the locals for help, including a slightly shady character called Hatter. Having not long finished his third season battling dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures as Connor Temple in the hit British TV series Primeval, actor Andrew-Lee Potts was excited about the idea of a potential trip across the pond to work in Wonderland and play Hatter. 

“When I first got a call from my agent to go in and read for Alice I thought, ‘Oh, wicked! That sounds fantastic and right up my alley,” enthuses Potts. “Then I found out that it was for the character of the Hatter, and straightaway everything felt right for me, and even more so when I eventually received the script and discovered it was written using the type of humor that I often use in my work. 

“So I taped my audition with the British casting director and I just did my thing. [Director/writer] Nick Willing wasn’t there in the room; it was just me and the casting director. And sometimes with that type of situation, especially when you’re doing overseas casting, things can get lost in the translation – i.e. how you should be playing the part.

“And it’s funny because I went into the audition and played the role as I thought it appeared to me, and was more sarcastically comedic as well as a bit eccentric. Hatter is a hero of sorts in the story, and the casting lady suggested, ‘Maybe you should try being a little more sexy?’ and I [jokingly] said to her, ‘What do you mean? Am I not being sexy?’ So I tried that, and later on when I met Nick, he told me, ‘Your first reading of the role was perfect, but then you did something really strange and went all serious.’ So although I’m glad I did it both ways so that he could see either interpretation, I’m really pleased that my initial take was what Nick was looking for and that I eventually got the job.” 

A week after Potts received word that he had been cast, he was on his way to Vancouver, British Columbia to start shooting Alice. “We actually had a few days rehearsal before filming began, and that was really interesting for me,” recalls the actor. “I haven’t done that many plays and things of that nature, so I’ve tended not to rehearse a lot of the parts I’ve played in the past. I like to keep my performance as fresh as possible because I never quite know what I’m going to do with the material. That’s something I began doing during Primeval, and as a result they [the producers] allowed me to be a lot freer with the dialogue and to try, I suppose, to get the humour and keep things really lively. 

“On my first day of work on Alice, I actually shot my final scene as Hatter, and then went on to do my first scene, which was something like seven or eight pages long. It was just me being the Hatter in his teashop, so I had to gt into the swing of things straightaway. I was a bit nervous, but at the same time really excited. I was playing the character the way I wanted to, and it was a relief to see that Nick looked happy when he came out from behind the monitor after the first few takes. 

“I suppose as an actor you always think, ‘I hope I’m doing the right thing and they’re not going to recast me.’ I remember we started out filming in this abandoned mental institution up in Kamloops. It was hot and the Hatter wears a leather jacket throughout the whole story. Being British, I’m not used to the heat,” he says with a chuckle, “but I survived and it was a lot of fun. Both Nick and I hit the ground running with the character and we carried on having a good time with it.”

In this telling of Alice, the Hatter is part of a resistence force led by Dodo (Tim Curry) and The White Knight (Matt Frewer), whose goal is to overthrow the Queen’s (Kathy Bates) tyrannical reign. While eager to take on his character’s re-imagined role, Potts also wanted to imbue his performance with some of The Mad Hatter’s original personality. 

“In the back of your mind you’ve got the original story where you know The Mad Hatter as being eccentric, crazy and all that kind of stuff,” explains the actor. “However, in Alice, we don’t have The Mad Hatter, we have the Mad March [Geoff Redknap], who was originally The [Mad] March Hare. So my character is supposed to be the sane one, but what I tried to do the first time you see the Hatter is go with a little bit of his eccentricity because I thought that might be enjoyable to the audience. 

“We tip our hat to every single character in Alice in Wonderland. With Hatter I wanted to keep an element of fun and spontaneity of the original. You never quite know what’s going on with him. Sometimes he goes really fast and other times he slows down and tries to take control. The first time Hatter meets Alice [Caterina Scorsone] it’s an assault of information on her, and from there he tries to take control. He’s a hustler and a very conniving one, and I wanted to play him slightly dangerous at the start as well. We have no idea what Hatter is capable of, and as the story unfolds, he does things that constantly surprise you. 

“At one point I had to do a hat trick, so I had to have a lesson and learn a bunch of tricks. That was cool, but, unfortunately, the hat I wore was really lightweight and the guy who came in to teach me the tricks was struggling because of that. They usually use a weighted hat, so I had to try to work around that. My character uses his hat as a bit of a distraction tool, especially in fight situations, which was quite fun and interesting. I’m quite handy with my fists in this, as opposed to Connor in Primeval, who couldn’t throw a punch to save his life, but Hatter is the complete opposite.

“The stunts were neat to do, too, and quite challenging as well because I did nearly everything myself. That included learning how to ride a horse, which I had never done before. I’d never even sat on a horse before. So I went to horse training, which was brilliant. I loved galloping as fast as I could on top of a ridge in the middle of nowhere and thinking, ‘I hope I can stop,’” he says with a laugh. 

Although Hatter’s relationship with Alice starts out as a purely selfish one, it becomes more of a friendship as the story unfolds. “In the beginning, he sees her as a money-making tool,” says Potts. “Alice is initially useful to the Hatter in very different ways to the ways that she’s useful to him at the end. I think my character finds her absolutely fascinating because she is very headstrong and sure of herself. Even though she’s been flung into this incredibly strange world of Wonderland, where the things she sees would instantly blow away most peoples’ minds, she manages to keep her feet on the ground and continue searching for what she’s come to Wonderland for. 

“Again, Hatter finds that attractive in a way, but I don’t think he understands exactly why. Like I said, he’s a player. He’s used to having many women in his life, but not really connecting with any of them. In a weird kind of way, his and Alice’s heads work in a very similar fashion. They’re equally matched intelligence-wise, which furthers his challenges with her, and they spend a great deal of their time arguing, which leads to some very amusing situations for us to play. Alice has a lot of trust issues and she finds it incredibly hard to trust anybody. At the start, I don’t think anyone would trust Hatter, and that’s something else I tried to explore with the character. I wanted to make the audience go, ‘He’s just plain mean,’ and that’s the fun with Hatter. You’re supposed to expect the unexpected with how I played him.” 

Potts relished the opportunity to work with Nick Willing in developing the many levels of the Hatter that viewers are introduced to. “One of the brilliant things about Nick is that, yes, he has his own ideas, but he doesn’t trap you inside them,” notes the actor. “He likes to throw everything up in the air and see where it lands. I always feel that that’s what makes a better show. Going back to Primeval, I think one of the reasons why my character worked so well is that the producers had the same way of working as Nick does. Connor was supposed to be your typical nerd who liked Star Wars and that sort of thing. He’s quite cliché in the original script, but then we did something completely different with him, which was to make him eccentric and more of an accidental hero as well.

“So they were very open-minded in Alice with how I delivered a lot of the dialogue, and also with making it suit my voice as well, being that I have such a strong Northern accent. At first they wanted an English accent, but Nick said he really liked the Yorkshire in my voice, and also up in the north of England we always enjoy a cup of tea, so it’s kind of fitting that my character should run a teashop. I love that the first time we see the Hatter, he’s drinking a cup of tea. I’m so pleased with the way he’s been written. You don’t expect Hatter to be such a strong force in the story. I know it’s Alice’s journey, but she catapults him into his own journey as well within hers. 

“Hatter has been living in Wonderland for years, unhappy with his life as well as with the system and the way things were going. He had a lot of resentment built up towards the Resistence and the Queen’s side of things. So he’d kind of been living in a no-man’s land until Alice came into his life. She opens my character’s eyes and suddenly Hatter has something to fight for, a girl, and he doesn’t even realize it, which is lovely. Hatter is a little slow on the uptake with things like that,” he jokes. “He thinks he’s fighting for himself. Up to this point, Hatter has lived his life very selfishly. One of his lines is something like, ‘I’ve lived life playing both sides of the court and trying to keep everyone happy.’ But in this story he actually does good by himself and Alice, which is terrific.” 

While there is no sign of prehistoric wildlife in Alice, Potts feels that his work on Primeval was excellent preparation for this project. “Having done a big CGI [computer-generated image] show, I actually feel qualified for the first time in my life,” says the actor. “I thought, ‘This is easy. I’ve been doing this for the past three years. I can run away from these monsters.’ So that was a blast but in a different way because it’s less about monsters in Alice and more about the CGI world that we’re in. There are a lot of extended CGI sets, which was something I wasn’t used to, and far more green screen work, too. We didn’t do much green screen on Primeval. 

“So every day has been fascinating and I feel extremely fortunate to have been given this role. I felt ready for it as well, though, if that makes any sense, and I don’t know if I would have had the same confidence before Primeval. A lot of the stuff I’d previously done were one-off films and projects like that where you only have a short period of time with a character. With a TV series, though, when it progresses, you have the chance to explore all these different angles of your character. And during the four hours on Alice, Hatter shows every side of himself and way of behaving. So hopefully playing Connor on Primeval has helped me in portraying Hatter.” 

The first two hours of Alice airs Sunday, December 6th from 9:00-11:-00 p.m. EST on The Syfy Channel and concludes Monday, December 7th @ 9:oo p.m.

Vous attendez un bébé. Pour la première fois. La chambre de bébé est pour l’instant la buanderie. Vous devez la préparer pour bébé et vous ne savez pas par ou commencer. De quels meubles avez-vous besoin ? A quoi devez-vous réfléchir ? Il y a tant de choses auxquelles vous devez penser! Je vais ici vous livrer les 3 conseils les plus importants afin de vous aider à vous préparer.

Vous ne savez pas encore comment ca va se passer quand bébé sera la. Vous avez peut-être déjà pense a la barrière pour l’empêcher de tomber des escaliers, mais comment pouvez-vous vous assurer que votre bébé est en sécurité ? Comment vous assurer que vous puissiez vous reposer également ? Comment vous assurer qu’il ne va pas pouvoir mettre la main sur toutes vos affaires ? Comment vous assurer que vous pouvez vous détendre et profiter de la maternité/paternité ? Je vais vous aider en vous détaillant ici ces 3 concepts : sécurité, flexibilité et bon usage des couleurs.

La sécurité est le concept le plus important. Vous allez faire du repérage dans les magasins comme Prénatal, Aubert et autres, et vous voyez partout ces petites choses en plastique qui sont censées empêcher bébé de se faire mal, de s’électrocuter. Toutes les sécurités pour les prises électriques, les coins de table etc. Oui elles sont nécessaires, et bien plus encore.

Vous avez sans doute pense à la commode, ou a une table ou vous allez pouvoir changer bébé. Faites attention à bien avoir tout à portée de main ce dont vous avez besoin : les couches, les lingettes, les habits propres, la crème ou le talc pour les petites fesses rouges etc… Mais faites attention à ce qu’il ne puisse rien attraper non plus, sinon tout va directement dans la bouche ! Parce qu’une fois que vous avez commence à le changer, vous ne pouvez plus le laisser tout seul pour aller chercher ce qui vous manque. Le risque qu’il tombe est bien trop grand, et il grandit avec bébé… Quand bébé peut finalement s’assoir, faites attention a ce qu’il ne puisse pas se cogner contre une poutre ou le mur derrière.

Il est probable que vous ayez déjà un couffin ou un lit de bébé. Veillez a ce qu’il soit bien stable (la je pense par exemple a un couffin pose sur un support, qui peut encore bouger). Faites attention a ce que tous les barreaux du lit y soient solidement fixes (la c’est une histoire vrai, nous avons eu un lit bébé ou il manquait un barreau, et ma plus jeune fille en a profite pour s’en échapper. Elle avait 2 ans donc pas de souci, mais quand même…). Veillez également à ce que le lit ne soit pas rempli de jouets hochets et peluches qui pourraient se révéler dangereux. Par exemple, surtout ne rien laisser avec un ruban ni ou des morceaux très petits pourraient se détacher. Certains bébés sont très entreprenants… Ca leur sera sans doute utile plus tard, mais la, pas encore !

Il est très facile de se retrouver avec une chambre de bébé très remplie (voire qui déborde !). Faites en sorte que le sol soit toujours dégagé et que les jouets, peluches et autres soient ranges. Vous ne voulez pas penser à ce qui pourrait arriver si vous trébuchez sur un objet avec votre bébé dans les bras.

La flexibilite vient ensuite. D’ici 2 a 3 ans, votre bebe n’en est deja plus un. Vous avez probablement besoin de plus de place pour ranger toutes ses affaires, il a entretemps reçu tellement de peluches et de jouets… Vous avez maintenant besoin d’un autre lit, car votre enfant veut faire comme les grands et ne veut plus dormir dans son lit à barreaux. Il veut également faire de plus en plus de choses tout seul. Comme s’habiller, se déshabiller, accrocher son manteau au portemanteau etc. Et vous pouvez l’aider, par exemple an plaçant en portemanteau à sa hauteur. Si vous avez pense a tout ca des le début, vous n’avez maintenant pas besoin de refaire toute sa chambre et de changer tous les meubles, mais seulement le lit. Et peut-être de rajouter un coffre à jouet pour ranger plus facilement tous ses jeux. Et une table a sa hauteur avec une petite chaise, pour faire comme papa et maman.

Et maintenant le troisième concept: quelles couleurs allez-vous utiliser dans la chambre de bébé? Ca ne parait peut-être pas si important à première vue, vous choisissez une couleur qui vous plait et voila ! Seulement ca n’est pas si simple. Les couleurs que vous aimez ne sont peut-être pas les plus adaptées au sommeil de votre bébé. Et son sommeil est très très très important. Et vous pouvez l’aider ! Utilisez des couleurs calmes. Pas d’imprimes trop charges si vous utilisez du papier peint. La chambre doit avoir suffisamment de lumière, mais il doit également être possible de faire le noir complet pour la nuit et pour ses siestes. Par exemple avec des stores à enrouleur occultant la lumière. Le Feng-Shui conseille également d’utiliser des couleurs douces (sans que cela soit forcement bleu et rose !)

Pour terminer avec un bon conseil Feng-shui: établissez une connexion avec l’enfant qui est en vous (parfois il est bien cache mais cherchez le bien !) et amusez-vous, régalez-vous a prévoir et préparer la chambre de votre bébé. L’énergie qui va en être générée sera la meilleure base possible pour son arrivée.

The large collider is up and running and with it a further step towards understanding the building blocks of the universe, you know, the yellow Lego ones that toddlers get stuck up their noses.

Good news is that the world didn’t end.

Bad news is that the world didn’t end.

If it had we’d at least have seen a result that we unlettered public would understand, even get excited about. Earth sucked into an artificially made black hole; crappy headline, but proof that we’re getting what we pay for in scientific funding. Damn you science, where are our jetpacks, flying cars, robot love slaves, and shark with frikkin laser beams? Huh? HUH?

What we do know from the smashing together of sub-atomic particles is that no mini-black holes were created, at least not for a measurable length of time. Sadly this means that the five-dimensional construct of space and time (the Randall-Sundrum Model) has suffered another setback. Too many more of these and it might go the way of the dodo.

There have been teething problems, or in this case, conception, gestation, and development problems, with just a dash of toilet training thrown in. Of course the setbacks have a malevolent awareness lurking behind them, possibly the Higgs Boson itself according to Matt Ford.

Not that our lack of self-destruction in science is slowing down our ability to annihilate our own species, in 2008 alone over 2 million died from AIDS. You recall AIDS don’t you? The horrific plague that haunted those growing up in the eighties, inflaming hate crimes, branding the homosexual community. The incurable and ultimately fatal disease that was largely forgotten by the 90’s? 

In Africa there is the horrific idea that sleeping with a virgin can cure AIDS, while in xenophobic parts of Asia it’s believed that only visiting English teachers have the disease. We’ve got missing nukes AWOL from the former soviet socialist republic, an increase in anti-biotic resistant bacteria, and a return of 70’s fashion. The horsemen are coming, and they’re wearing leg warmers and lime green.

As you can see in the swatch pic, Dodo is more on the pinkish beige side than Apieu. Apieu still has a tinge of yellow, while Dodo doesn’t have any. Apieu Fresh is the same shade with Moist, if you’re wondering, they only differ on their finishes. Moist has glowy finish, while Fresh is more matte.

I blend a lil bit of them on my skin, right next to the cream dots. Blended, they’re not that different in shades. But I notice Apieu blends way better and easier than Dodo. Apieu doesn’t sink on my fine line, while Dodo does.

With those being said, I declare my love to Apieu again.

Tard dans la nuit hier, mon chum et moi étions réveillé à 3 heures du matin. Après zéro préliminaires et zéro mamours il nous est venu une envie de… jaser!

Il faisait noir dans la chambre.

- (moi) tu dors chéri?

- (hom) Ben non… (soupir) y’as-tu une switch à off là-dessus qu’on a pas trouvé?

- (désolé) Ça l’air que non…

Ben oui, bébé placotte comme une grosse mémère dans sa chambre. Ça frole parfois les pleurs, c’est confus. Mais ça placotte.

- (bébé parlant aux moutons beiges du mobile et à son ami Rikiki(le toutou sur cette photo): ah moi mes parents me laissent tout seul dans ma chambre, dans le noir. Ils ne le savent pas mais je ne dors pas du tout, yaou les toutous! (toutous qui virvolte dans les airs)… tiens je vais essayer de chanter le générique de “petit ours brun” (ga ga guy ga ga ga…)… tiens je vais essayer de le chanter plus aigu pour voir si ça ferait beau. Maudit qu’on a du fun à soir dans la basinette!

Retour dans la chambre à coucher des parents (donc NOUS!)

- (moi) Pis chéri comment ça va les travaux dans le sous-sol?

- (hom) Ça avance…

- (moi) je pense qu’on devrait déménager la chambre de bébé au sous-sol! Tsé on pourrait dormir la nuit!!!

Nous habitons une maison unifamiliale à 3 étages (sous-sol, rdc, étage)

- (hom) moi je pense que c’est NOTRE chambre qu’on va déménager au sous-sol…

Finalement ça s’est terminé par une maman qui s’est levé pour aller dire à ti-hom de faire dodo. Mon arme: une grosse suce, un bébé à plat ventre, deux couvertures, pis un “chut on fait dodo autoritaire”.

Il a surement continué à placoter un peu mais avec les portes des chambres respectives fermées et des bouchons dans les oreilles de mon chum la maisonnée s’est finalement rendormie!

On as-tu hâte de dormir vous croyez??? Il aura 7 mois le 26 novembre prochain!

I so did not want to get up this morning. But I did Yay, me! Today’s exercise was the easy 30 minute walk. Which was great cos i definitely felt the impact of yesterday’s walk/run sequence this morning. My shins actually feel sore, but in that nice “i’ve exercised my muscle” kinda way. I think the easy walk is going to be my favorite part of this work out.

My food log for yesterday is as follows: like i said, i had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. Drank lots of water, had a glass of apple juice mid-afternoon; had a plate of dodo (fried plaintain) and a piece of Tilapia fish tail, slightly fried; and for dinner i had a plate of papaya and watermelon mixed salad.

I know I should stay away from fried foods, yeah, yeah. but i love fried plantains and fish and i’m just gonna have to make sure it’s lightly fried in olive oil and not deep fried. I’ll keep you updated on how that is working for me as i progress. I absolutely loved the papaya and I think I will have some with my breakfast this morning too.

I spent the day yesterday chilling with a really good friend of mine and it was so much fun! I think being active and letting everyone know you are on a diet kinda helps too, cos most people i find, want to help you achieve your goals.

I think I will have either oatmeal or ogi again this morning for breakfast, with a bowl of papaya

Corinthians – Lima (Z-sem clube) - Williamestá em uma fase pouco confiável fisicamente, então o time precisa de um reserva melhor que Paulo André.

Flamengo – Kléber (A-Cruzeiro) – Pode ser um ótimo substituto de Adriano ou até fazer uma dupla muito interessante com o Imperador.

Vasco – Rafael Sóbis (A-Al Jazira) - Chegou a ser jogador de Seleção quando atuava em grandes centros do futebol. Não seria diferente no Rio de Janeiro.

Palmeiras – Manoel (Z-Atlético-PR) - Não chegaria pra ser titular, mas pode ser uma boa aposta para o futuro.

Vasco – Keirrison (A-Benfica) - A passagem do atacante pelo Palmeiras foi irregular e só gera desconfianças, mas ele tem qualidades pra voltar ao Brasil e se destacar.

CAI FORA!

Atlético-MG – Durval (Z-Sport) - A defesa precisa de um jogador mais experiente para atuar ao lado do jovem Werley, mas é necessário que seja alguém com qualidade de verdade.

Atlético-MG – Souza (A-Corinthians) - Atrapalharia todo o estilo de jogo do Galo, que sabe usar a velocidade como poucos no setor ofensivo.

Goiás – Wellington Saci (LE-Atlético-MG) - É muito otimismo imaginar que ele vai jogar bem só porque vai voltar ao estado que o revelou.

O caso de doping do atacante Dodô teve seu lado bom pro jogador. Agora que já cumpriu toda a pena imposta, três clubes cariocas (Vasco, Botafogo e, parece que o Flamengo também sondou) e um time do exterior demonstram interesse em ter o jogador.

Em 2007, quando Bota o contratou, ele não tinha tanta disputa assim.

O Botafogo aposta no coração, nos laços criados entre Dodô e clube pra que ele opte pelo clube.

Agora, na boa? Se Botafogo já tá fazendo drama e apelando assim pra ter o Dodô, tenho medo das contratações que vem por aí… Não falando mal dele, muito pelo contrário, acho que se ele estivesse em campo, Bota não teria perdido metade dos gols que perde com André Lima. Que aliás era muito melhor quando era reserva de Dodô.

E de novo, na boa? Apelar para os laços criados no Botafogo não é uma boa. A última lembrança do cara não é das melhores.

In 1598, when Dutch colonizers arrived on the small island of Mauritius off the coast of Africa, they discovered a large, flightless bird that was unafraid of humans. Within one hundred years, the bird that became known as the dodo was extinct. For a long time, the reason for its extinction was attributed to the colonizers eating the bird, however we now know that the loss of the dodo’s habitat and the introduction of several invasive species attributed a much greater part to the dodo’s extinction. In fact, the first name given to the dodo was because of its bad taste. The dodo was first called walghvogel which means loathsome bird.

The dodo’s were large birds, they weighed about fifty pounds. They had a long bill short wings and a tuft of curly feathers on their backside. Their short wings, weight and weak sternum made flight impossible. It’s theorized that at one time the birds were able to fly but once they arrived on Mauritius they found an adequate food supply that they could thrive on and no natural enemies. Over many generations, the birds lost the ability to fly because of disuse.

The Dutch settlers began logging the forests of Mauritius shortly after arriving and the animals that they brought with them quickly invaded the island.  Pigs, rats, dogs and monkeys didn’t hunt or kill the dodos but they did eat their eggs. Dodos only laid one egg at a time and would leave their nests on the ground, which made easy pickings for the invasive species.

The last sighting of the dodo was in 1662. The last sighting before that was in 1638, only 40 years after the Dutch landed on the island. Though it’s believed that the dodo didn’t die out until 1693, The virtual disappearance of the bird after only a few decades is staggering and should serve as a reminder of the horrible impact that we can have on the ecosystem.
