After being impressed with the photographs I took at Shaun’s wedding, Daniel asked me to document the reception at his own. Beginning in the afternoon at Nathania Springs in the Dandenongs everything went smoothly, save for a pesty kookaburra swooping food out of people’s hands and my own brother making a mess of himself with the fine Shiraz Daniel had chosen.

Here is a hilarious clip showcasing “classic” moments from the 1990s hit Beverly Hills 90210.  However, what makes this video hilarious is that I would consider none of these clips “classic” at all (especially the last one, with Cindy Walsh talking about mixing paper with plastic).  As if that wasn’t enough, they play the classic theme song in between each of these clips – especially hilarious at 0:45, when Brandon asks, “You happy now?” with the song immediately playing.  To top it off, I thought someone may have made this as a joke, but it turns out it is from the official CBS YouTube channel!  How great is that?

Doherty was devastated when he reached the landmark birthday in April, and got so drunk at his party he began to think he couldn’t go on.

He explained: “I had this bash in Paris and it was an absolute disgrace. I just made a bit of an idiot out of myself. We had a right old knees-up. I don’t even know exactly what happened but I ended up trying to throw myself off the top of the hotel. I wasn’t happy at all about being 30.”

Pete eventually decided to take his frustrations out on the catering staff, much to the dismay of his friends.

He revealed to Britain’s Elle magazine: “I don’t normally drink that heavily. But I went through a bottle of vodka. They presented me with this cake and I pushed it in the chef’s face who’d just made it for me.

“Then the chef and the security guards were chasing me around. I think I escaped unscathed. It was hilarious. I had a great night.”

Noriko Sakai is / was a pop sensation in Japan and has been or the last 20-odd years releasing over 25 albums of no doubt rubbish content.

A couple of weeks back her husband was arrested for alleged drug possesion. Then she went missing for a week.

By all accounts Noriko has now handed herself in and has been arrested on on suspicion of possesing illegal stimulants.

But it’s the statment from the president, Masahisa Aizawa, of her management company, Sun Music, which should be applauded:

“Noriko Sakai was arrested last night and we would like to offer an apology to all her fans for the trouble caused. I would like her to reflect on what she has done and feel the weight of the crime she has committed. I would strongly urge her to seek rehabilitation,”

I wish you’d hear something like this from Sony, Warner, whoever.. the next time Winehouse, Williams, Doherty and all them other depressing types step out of line.

Alright!  I’m not even American, but here in Canada we still feel the effects of Independance Day.  I mean, our drinking age is lower so no doubt all the twenty year olds from across the border will come up here to celebrate.  The city I pity most for this is Windsor.  Such is life though.

So due to my love of history, I’m going to do a This Day in History section on each post unless there is two in one day.

So I’m dog-sitting at a friend’s house today.  The dog’s name is Duncan, he’s an English Bull Terrier, extremely cute and well-behaved except when it comes for walks.  I mean rip my arm off much!  It will be fine though.  I have a Boxer at home, and we’re also caring for a Chocolate Lab named Leo.  I can’t get away from animals.  They make me itchy too.  Given it could be worse.

I have done some productive things though.  I’ve continued/updated my scrapbook for my local hockey team, written a chapter for a semi-decent story I’m writing on Quizilla (foreverXuntold is my username if anyone wants to check it out), and started a new story for my own uses.  I don’t know how far it’s going to go, but it’s going. 

Speaking of hockey it reminds me that I need to vent, so please disregard this random rant on here.  Well my soccer team that I adore is Liverpool- and they are owned by Gilette and Hicks.  Gilette was the former owner of the Montréal Canadiens.  He sold the Canadiens in order to focus on Liverpool, although I don`t know why seen as he also owns/co-owns a baseball and a basketball team.  Frustrated does not even cover it.  I mean honestly he doesn`t even know anything about soccer!  The icing on the cake is that he wasn`t even going to give Liverpool money to buy players he expected us to sell players to get money!  Can you believe the nerve.  We finally have a team that compete on both the domestic and European stage and now he wants us to rip it apart in order to get new players.

Okay, it`s now out of my system.  Kind of belated but a shoutout to the Pittsburgh Penguins for their Stanley Cup win, John Tavares for going 1st overall, Ethan Werek and Taylor Doherty for doing me proud in the 2nd round, and my commiserations to the Detroit Red Wings- I was rooting for you guys.  Abedlkader is awesome!  I can`t forget to also apologize to all the teams I supported through the Playoffs, you lost because of me… I`m an unlucky charm.

Waiting for my gorgeous girlfriend to get home. Can’t wait to see her as it’s unusual to spend nights apart since we have moved in together. Only about an hour to go.

In the meantime, I have been listening to Graham Coxon’s new album ‘The Spinning Top’ and it is amazing. It’s the first album in ages that has made me wish I wrote every song. It’s also the first album in ages that has made me want to pick up my guitar and write. I think his similarities to Peter Doherty – which reminds me I need to listen to his solo album; good old Spotify – are one factor in those which I like about the music but it is very different aswell and I love the whole album. Even down to the production. May have to experiment with the next song that I write and record. Got a few on the cards in fact. Over the next week I should have plenty of time to get some decent stuff written and recorded between revision.

It’s hella hot so I am going to make myself a cold drink and relax with a book after doing all the washing up!

Peter Doherty sauve les meubles, après la multitude d’échecs des Babyshambles. Fidèle à lui même, il signe un album aux faux-airs Folk, plus qu’honorable.

             L’auteur des Books of Albion revient, et fait honneur à son talent  (il avait d’ailleurs remporté un concours de jeunes poètes durant sa scolarité.) Pour son premier album solo, Peter Doherty (et non plus Pete) vomit ses tripailles et montre (enfin) ce qu’il a vraiment dans le bide (outre du Jack Daniels). Revenons-en à l’essentiel, la musique. L’entrée en scène est dépouillée, elle sonne comme un acoustique des Libertines, ce sera d’ailleurs la seule à rappeler l’ancien Doherty, le reste annonce un sensible renouveau. Et ce titre Arcadie alors ? En réalité, l’Arcadie n’est autre que la terre mystique illustrant l’Angleterre idyllique selon Doherty et Barrât. Alors,  la sobriété est de mise, s’alliant à de sublimes orchestrations.. Quant aux paroles, ma foi, qu’ajouter ? Ce Peter à l’âme d’un Baudelaire, il le sait, en joue, s’en proclame. Des hommages appuyés à Lewis Carroll ou Oscar Wilde teintent ce Grace/Wastelands.  Il a désormais toutes les qualités requises pour être un grand du rock, lui qui attendait de pouvoir asseoir sa légitimité de dandy maudit. On en attendait toujours énormément de lui, dès qu’il avait exprimé son souhait de n’être apprécié « que par sa musique » à Carl Barrât. C’est (après moult déceptions) enfin chose faite. 

            A Little Death Around The Eyes, à l’âme à figurer sur une des Histoires de Melody Nelson de Gainsbourg. C’est d’une classe incroyable. L’Orchestration est quasi-théâtrale, la voix de Doherty prend remarquablement bien l’écho et elle prend aux tripes, les paroles sont co-signées par son ex-acolyte Carl Barrât. On pense aux Last Shadow Puppets inévitablement, à  Ennio Morricone aussi. Through The Window Glass résonne telle une charmante comptine teintée de Mississipi. Ces 4 minutes sont d’une sobriété classieuse et d’une délicieuse désinvolture. Cette voix claire qui vient célébrer l’outro nous fait étonnement penser à un Johnny Borrell, si seulement Doherty n’avait pas charrié les piètres prestations et les mièvreries de Razorlight…  On ne joue ici définitivement pas dans la même cour. Sweet By and By, le pari lounge et jazzy de l’album. Ce n’est pas du Tom Waits, mais on s’y croit. Dans un petit bar londonien d’après guerre. Si on y croit, c’est que c’est réussi. Peter Doherty ne pastiche pas, n’imite pas, ne se prend pas pour un Louis Prima en herbe, mais pour un petit rockeur référencé qui (ça arrive) sait nous la mettre bien profond à coups d’accords de 7eme. 1939 Returning (dont le projet original était un duo avec Amy Winehouse, excusez du peu) est une réussite, les cordes/guitare sèche sont divinement bien mixées, pas même une once de percussion, ce qui est le cas sur beaucoup de chansons de l’album, et c’est  d’une élégance innommable. Enfin, pour finir ce tour d’horizon des réussites de Doherty, Le single  Last of…  est sans doute celle dont la production est la plus chiadée. Un coté Rascals, Gorillaz dans le glass-harmonica, le mélodica. On pense inévitablement à un  Damon Albarn, ce qui n’étonne qu’à moitié dans un album où Graham Coxon (l’autre tête pensante de Blur) vient accompagner l’ex-Babyshambles à plusieurs reprises à la guitare, sur quasiment toutes les chansons, excepté Broken Love Song, pour laquelle Peter Wolfe assure la relève, palliant ainsi la technique médiocre de l’ex-Libertines.

               Car si cet album est si réussi, c’est sans doute aussi grâce au talent de ses nombreuses contributions, et aux doigts de fée du producteur Stephen Street, qui avait œuvré pour les Smiths ou Blur (encore eux). Transformant du même coup les semblants de morceaux ébauchés par le prince de l’Albion en chefs d’œuvres folk. Alors certes, il y a bien quelques faux pas. Comment ne pas déplorer Salomé ou  New Loves Goes On Tree ou le pâlichon Sheepskin Tearaway dont la chanteuse Dot Allison assure le duo ? Notez que dans tout ce foutoir, Mik Whitnall, Adam Ficek, et Drew McConnell, les ex-camarades de jeu qui avaient participé au flop des Babyshambles se rachètent une crédibilité en participant à l’opus. Ce n’est donc pas une surprise, Doherty qu’il soit Pete ou Peter, peu importe, est bel et bien un rebelle au cœur d’artichaut, un poète dépravé et damné. Grace/ Wastelands  – traduisez littéralement, Grâce/ Terrain Vague (ça a moins de gueule en français, je vous l’accorde)- est beau. Raffiné. Distingué. Well done « Sir » Doherty. Et merci pour tout.

Bloody Hell, it has been absolutely ages since I last left a post and a lot has happened since the last one, so i’d thought i’d take a few moments whilst I eat my dinner get this thing up to date. So yes, the course has been going at a rate of knots, faster than Kimi Raikkonen on a Jet Pack powered by a plasma-red bull cocktail so to speak and the old self has had a torrid time to say the least…and i’ve just realised i’ve spilt Ragu over my keyboard, bad times.

So when we got back to University, we we’re given a whole new group and sent on our way with our summer projects, which is to start a campaign up and push it as far is it can go, and then present it to Channel 4, which will now be in a few weeks time. From the Television side of things, I have some awesome people that I am eternally grateful for being in the same group as me. The Lovely Miss. Aisling Doherty and the lively fellows which be that of Mr. Joff Harvey and Mr. Sam Shetabi give us what i think is a very well rounded group when it comes to the production side of things. From the sides of Interactive Media and Scriptwriting we have some awesome folks which allow the group to have an extra dimension as they all look at things in a slightly different light to us T.V. folk, which is a very good thing. Its at times like this where you learn a lot more about yourself as a person, and the skills that I’ve obtained over the year, such as the increased ability to work effectively as a team and that your realise that different professions don’t really do this as well, I mean, just look at the Labour Party for one. The campaign we are doing is called uKarma, which is basically a rip off of My Name Is Earl, but it seems to have had a good reception from Peers and Tutors a like. We’ve been filming rather alot for it recently and its done my head in, so i’m not going to badger on about it here now but here is a picture of us on shoot.

Aside from the summer project, we’ve also had to have our independant projects in only just last week, in fact, this time last week I was in the edit suite with the very lovely Ally Young toiling away to no end trying to get it done so that we could have a reasonable amount of sleep that night. Invevitably, that didn’t happen in the slightest…we left University at 4:30am. Now when a project gets set back in early October you’d think you’d get it done well in time. But the best thing is, nobody did, and the ‘comaradery’ as a result was absolutely fantastic. When you see that your computer has a 2 hour render time, your quite thankful that there are people around to pester, and they never seem to mind as edit suites are usually rather lonely places. The final products though were bloody stunning, and we’ve definitely outdone last years Celebrate independents by a long way so well done to all.

now…I’ve just found T.A.T.U on Spotify…really really cool…

Anyway, personally, i’ve had a rather frustrating time recently, due to the fact that I severed my Urethra and lost rather alot of a certain fluid which shouldn’t come out the end of ones Penis, anyway its almost better which is nice, but i think it ties in very nicely with my Karma Campaign as most of the time, I am a complete and utter cunt. But yes, apart from that, things are good. Anyway I cannot be arsed to ramble on anymore as I have something much more important to do now and thats thank all of the lovely people that helped on our shoot today. Anyway here is a video of the late great Colin McRae which makes me require new boxers.

Peace Out P-Town Down.

I say that miss, but I haven’t seen it properly yet.  I’m on a train to York and the connection is so bad I can’t watch video and I’ve only seen it on an animating gif which one of our Banterpitters very kindly fashioned late last night.  As for why I didn’t see it live on ITV4 last night…I forgot it was on, and besides, the missus was really getting into the Eurovision semi-final.

If you don’t know to what I’m referring, our very own Tim Lovejoy got the chance to play in front of thousands at Anfield last night for the Hillsborough Memorial match, together with Liverpool legends and showbiz pals.  And from the looks of things, he had an inch perfect pass delivered to him, in front of goal, in front of the Kop, from about 7 yards out, with the keeper out of it.  It didn’t go in.  Enough said, although that’s not how the Banterpitters see it!  I’m certainly not going to comment further, this is an objective summary of what went on, as I would have hit the corner flag.

Tim did have the good grace to film himself in front of some very happy Anfield stewards after the match which you can see on today’s videoblog:

The big news in local politics is the Scranton primaries, specifically the mayoral race. The contenders for the democratic nomination are incumbent mayor Chris Doherty and Gary DiBileo, who is back again to try for the nomination. The most recent forum was the debate sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Lackawanna County, which was held at the University of Scranton. Both democratic candidates were there as well as Bob Bolus, local businessman vying for a shot at mayordom on the republican ticket.

Both at the debate and on the radio, it seems to be politics as usual. Mudslinging is rampant, and there is even an ad by Doherty supporters admonishing the DiBileo camp for their mudslinging (although it can be argued that the pointing out of the opposing camp’s pot-shots and portrayal of such tactics in a negative light is itself mudslinging). One thing I have noticed is that Bob Bolus is a broken record. Yes, all candidates have talking points that they like to stick to, but hearing Bolus go on and on about the same topics during his interviews is tiresome.

A recent development of note is the social club issue that has recently come up. Mayor Doherty is part of an Irish-American club that is exclusive to males only. The club’s attitudes toward women have been called into question, and Doherty has been grilled about it. In an interview on WILK news radio, he tried to dismiss this issue.

Voting for the primary will be held on Tuesday, 19 May. It will be interesting to see if Doherty can fend off once again the challenge of Gary DiBileo.

OVERALL: I give this primary THREE out of FIVE Chezwicks for being “politics as usual”.

Hip hop is something that resides deep in our soul, the culture is beautiful its self expression in its rawest form. Growing up hip hop was more than music, it was my life. Certain songs bring back certain memories, certain memories bring back songs, its funny. HHTT has a deep love for where we grew up and always love to put on for our city. Chilling on Park Ave we noticed the art on the Leitrim Pub wall and decided to post up, seeing the art made me think of how much I still love hip hop and love being from the City of Wor.
