where has this season gone?? my goodness, it seems like we were just preparing for the hall of fame

where has this season gone?? my goodness, it seems like we were just preparing for the hall of fame game! but yes, it is week 12, and it is a week filled with many division games. but before we move on to week 12 sunday, we must look back at week 12 thursday…

hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! I sure did, but one thing that would have made it better is…BETTER FOOTBALL! now, i’m all for traditions…the Lions always play, the Cowboys always play, blah blah blah…how about giving them some equal opponents? Like don’t have the Lions play the Packers, where its sort of obvious who’s going to win! (Sorry Detroit fans). Also, don’t have a relatively good team like the Cowboys take on the Raiders. Do i even have to tell you who won those games? What an easy win for the Packers and Cowboys! Moving on to the Thursday night game…yes the Giants lost to the Broncos. End of story…moving on!

okay, so for all those division games….

NFC South (Bucs @ Falcons)

AFC East (Dolphins @ Bills)

NFC East (Redskins @ Eagles)

NFC West (Seahawks @ Rams)

AFC North (Browns @ Bengals)

AFC South (Colts @ Texans)

AFC West (Chiefs @ Chargers

NFC North (Bears @ Vikings)

AFC North (Steelers @ Ravens)

So./././ how about that? 9 division games! some less exciting than the others, but division games, nonetheless. i would say 6, 8, and 9 are the games i most looking forward to as a good game. if the Colts win today, and the Jaguars lose, then the Colts can clinch the AFC South!!

alright, i gotta cut this short, but hope everyone enjoys their football-filled sunday!

Many are picking this one as the top ATS bet of the week, and I am tentatively agreeing with the consensus of opinion on this one. Whilst there’s always something to fear in a wounded beast (which is a nice way of describing the bills this season!), Miami should have too much for Buffalo in this one.

Chad Henne may be a question mark for the Fins- but lets face it- the entire Miami recieving core is one big Question mark. Plus, i’m not so sure that it will even matter because I predict Ricky Williams to go nuts against this below average Bills rush defence. Miami are 4th in the league in rushing offence & Buffalo are the second worse franchise against the rush- so the fact that they are top 10 against the pass isn’t a stat that particularly worries me.

My tip: Miami Dolphins -3.5

Is it OK to swim with whales and dolphins?

Travel companies in many countries offer the chance to get up close to whales and dolphins by swimming alongside them in the sea. But there is growing concern that in some areas heavily targeted by commercial swim tours, there may be a long-term impact on the health and wellbeing of the animals.

According to Julian Matthews of Discovery Initiatives (discoveryinitiatives.co.uk), which runs a Swim with Killer Whales trip in Norway, it depends on how the trip is managed: “The trip has to be run in small numbers, there have to proper permits in place for boat handlers and the frequency of the tours has to be carefully monitored; above all there has to be an acceptance that it is a privilege not a right to be with the animals.”

However, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (0870 8700027, wdcs.org), which runs its own whale-watching holidays, has decided to not include swim tours on its holidays. It recommends only boat-based holidays, with a naturalist on board and a boat handler who has taken one of the voluntary codes of conduct, such as the Dolphin Space program (dolphinspace.org), or the WiSe (Wildlife Safe) scheme (wisescheme.org).

Power Thursday (26/Nov/09)

Power Thursday

I’ll take another round turkey, a heaping pile of mashed potatoes and a mound of stuffing. I’ll go for seconds, maybe thirds, on yams and cranberry. I’ll make room for a slice of pie or three, and then it’s on to dessert and a plate full of Sleepers for Week 12:

QUARTERBACK

Alex Smith (San Francisco) vs. Jacksonville – Projection: 21-35, 220 yards, 2 TD
Smith didn’t look great on Sunday against Green Bay, but still threw for 227 yards and 3 TD. Jacksonville ranks 25th versus the pass, so another solid performance is a high probability.

Vince Young (Tennessee) vs. Arizona – Projection: 13-21, 155 yards, 1 TD, 5-35 rushing
Young is not an exciting fantasy option, but it’s surprising how little it takes to get double-digit fantasy points from the guy. With just 116 passing yards in Week 11, Young was still good for 14 fantasy points thanks to 73 rushing yards and a passing TD.

RUNNING BACK

Justin Forsett (Seattle) @ St. Louis – Projection: 13-71 rushing, 5-31 receiving, 1 TD
Even if Julius Jones returns from his bruised lung, Forsett has more than proven his worth in Seattle, and will get his touches. The Rams are 28th in the league against the run, so this will probably be the last week Forsett qualifies as a “Sleeper”.

Jamaal Charles (Kansas City) @ San Diego – Projection: 14-65 rushing, 3-11 receiving, 1 TD
Against a tough Pittsburgh D, Charles still found a way to be a viable fantasy option by catching a 2-yard touchdown pass from Matt Cassel and returning a kickoff for 6. San Diego is 21st against the run, so Charles could have another solid day.

Danny Ware (New York Giants) @ Denver – Projection: 9-51 rushing, 3-24 receiving
When the Giants travel to Denver for a Thanksgiving night showdown with the Broncos, Ahmad Bradshaw (ankle) will not make the trip. With Brandon Jacobs (leg) a bit hobbled, the door could swing open for the Giants’ number three back.

WIDE RECEIVER

Antonio Bryant (Tampa Bay) @ Atlanta – Projection: 5-67 receiving, 1 TD
Bryant had 1248 yards and 7 TD just one season ago. After battling injuries for much of this year, he’s healthy and could start to build a rapport with Tampa Bay rookie gunslinger, Josh Freeman. It doesn’t hurt that Atlanta is 29th against the pass.

Earl Bennett (Chicago) @ Minnesota – Projection: 7-84 receiving
Over the past 3 weeks, Chicago’s leading ypc receiver (12.8) has a modest 15 grabs for 177 yards. Not exactly a trend that would suggest a big game versus Minnesota, but here we go again, putting up the bucks for a guy who always fails to deliver a TD. This could be the week…

Pierre Garcon (Indianapolis) @ Houston – Projection: 5-72 receiving
Over the past 3 weeks, Garcon is tied with Roddy White for 13th in the NFL in WR targets (28). Over that span, he has 14 catches, 218 yards and 1 TD, including 108 yards last week. By the way, he has Peyton Manning throwing him the ball.

TIGHT END

Jermichael Finley (Green Bay) @ Detroit – Projection: 4-39 receiving, 1 TD
How can I not go with Finley (again)? He’s owned in less than 20% of fantasy leagues, yet, per game, is outperforming Jason Witten, Jeremy Shockey and John Carlson, all of whom are owned in more than 75% of leagues! Plus, here comes Detroit.

KICKER

Dan Carpenter (Miami) @ Buffalo – Projection: 2 FG, 2 PAT (1 FG 40+)
It’s time to see if Carpenter can be a cold weather kicker. Safe bet, the Montana alum will be fine, and the Dolphins will get him into range at least twice against the Bills. Carpenter has scored 74 (real life) points thus far in 2009, and has a big leg.

DEFENSE

Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay – Projection: 17 points allowed, 2 sacks, 1 Int, 1 fumble recovery
The Buccaneers have shown flashes of ability on offense, and there could be some again on Sunday. That said, Atlanta is averaging 2 sacks and nearly 2 takeaways per game, and Tampa will really be no match at home.

Week 11

1. Colts – they remain unbeaten and have had a tougher schedule than the Saints.
2. Saints – Big game this week in fact make it a huge game this week and I have to say I think they will go down to their first lose of the season.
3. Vikings – This team is not getting alot of attention which is surprising with Favre in it but they continue to win and win well.
4. Patriots – Pretty much sealed up the division this weekend and can now look forward to ruining the Saints perfect start to the season.
5. Bengals - They are praying the lose to the Raiders doesn’t hurt them too much.
6. Chargers - Looked good beating up the Broncos and should win the division now.
7. Cardinals – This team still seems to surprise people even after last season.
8. Cowboys – Warning signs are up since they struggled to beat the Redskins.
9. Packers - How could would this team be if they could protect Aaron Rodgers?
10. Giants - Got the win they needed after the bye week even though they tried their hardest to lose it.
11. Eagles – The Bears game was closer than it needed to be.
12. Steelers - Must stop losing so silly teams like the Chiefs.
13. Broncos – Simms was so bad he made Orton look like Elway.
14. Jaguars - Nearly losing to Buffalo shows how bad this team can be at times.
15. Falcons – Not surprised by the news they are seeking a new kicker.
16. Ravens - They need to win a game against a good team to be taken seriously.
17. Dolphins – Still winning even with all those injuries.
18. Texans - Things looked so good a few weeks ago but know they look like the .500 Texans we all love.
19. Titans – Being winless seems like a long long time ago now.
20. Panthers – Run the ball in the red zone please.
21. Bears - They are only this high because there are so any bad teams right now.
22. Jets - Looks like a team coached by a rookie head coach and with a rookie starting QB. Nice to see the disrespected us quote coming out this week.
23. 49ers - Smith looks ok at last.
24. Chiefs - Big win last week.
25. Raiders - Finally they have a QB who can throw the ball.
26. Bills - When do they move to Canada now?
27. Seahawks – Time to start worrying about next season.
28. Redskins – See above.
29. Lions - How do you lose so many yards and points to the Browns?
30. Rams - I still feel sorry for Steven Jackson.
31. Buccaneers - Man this team is bad.
32. Browns - and this team is even worse.

Some Festive Games and Some Turkeys We’ve arrived at Thanksgiving week, and the NFL season has becom

Some Festive Games and Some Turkeys

We’ve arrived at Thanksgiving week, and the NFL season has become one of haves, have-nots, and mediocre teams. The haves (New Orleans, Indianapolis, Minnesota, Cincinnati, San Diego, Arizona, and New England) figure to be the eight teams playing in the second round of the NFL playoffs.

The have-nots (Cleveland, Detroit, Tampa Bay, St. Louis, Washington, Kansas City, Oakland, Seattle, and Buffalo) have nothing to play for at this point. To wager on these teams, one must find a reason to believe these teams’ players will have a reason to give everything they’ve got.

The 15 mediocre teams remaining are the ones competing for the final four playoff berths. These are the teams that must be watched carefully as the stretch drive begins. Be careful playing against one of these teams when they are playing a have or have-not. They can be dangerous.

This week presents some interesting contests. On Thanksgiving night, the Denver-New York Giants game features two of the aforementioned mediocre teams. A match-up of two mediocre teams in essence becomes a playoff elimination game. The loser of this game has very little chance of recovering to make the playoffs this year.

Indianapolis plays at Houston, and the Texans find their backs up against the wall. After losing a close Monday night game, Houston is in a must-win position.

Arizona plays at Tennessee, and if the Titans win this one to get to 5-6, they would have to be considered a dark horse candidate to finish 9-7 and sneak in as the final AFC Playoff team. No NFL team has ever started a season at 0-6 and finished 8-8 must less 9-7. The 1970 Cincinnati Bengals began the season 1-6 and won seven games in a row to win the AFC Central Division at 8-6.

Baltimore and Pittsburgh face off in a blood and guts battle that could easily be a playoff elimination game.

The Monday night game is the best MNF game of the year. New England plays at New Orleans. It could easily be a preview of the Super Bowl.

Every now and then, I’m just ready to feel a little sand between my toes with the girls…that white, sugary, warm, squishy, wonderful sand. Ahhh. I feel a beach getaway coming on!

One of the favorite spots for some of my girlfriend getaways is the Fort Walton Beach/Destin, FL area. I have spent many, many hours on the beach just soaking up some sun and girl time. It was exciting to see the Blue Angels practice their maneuvers close to shore. Their base was nearby, so we got a free show. As they flew by, there was silence. A few seconds later, you could hear the loud boom. What a show!

One of my favorite times on the beach is right before sunset when there’s still about an hour of light left. There’s something magical about that time of the day. The waves have a silvery light to them. The sky is just beginning to turn different hues of red, purple, and yellow mixed with blue. The clouds take on a life all of their own. Most of the beach-goers are gone for the day by that time, so we were left with the peaceful sounds of the waves and seagulls. We usually made dinner on the grill and then ate it right on the beach, close to the water. I’ll never forget one evening as we were sitting on a big blanket, we saw some dolphins swimming close enough to the shore that we could easily see them. They stayed in the same place for a long time and looked like they were playing in the surf. We had the best seat in the house!

Sometimes, when I think about places like the beach, I can actually “feel” it even though I’m not there. I can remember the feel of the warm sand between my toes, the smell of salt air, the sounds of the waves, and picture the bonds between my friends and me growing stronger. I close my eyes, and it’s like I’m there. Those daydreams are like my little mini escapes until the real getaway arrives. That’s another wonderful benefit of girlfriend getaways. Each time we get away, we make lifetime memories with our friends. Then, after we’re back home, we can just close our eyes at any time, and we’re there all over again.

Power Thursday (19/Nov/09)

Power Thursday

This last week was very special for me (Robert). After a long period without any contact of any kind two special people visited us here in El Gouna. We somehow lost contact with each other around 12 years ago so I was very surprised to get a friend request on Facebook from my old colleague from Holland. It was as if these 12 years without seeing or hearing each other did not exist and we saw each other just a few days ago. They immediately decided they wanted to visit us and that’s what they did this last week.

Of course we had a lot of fun digging up all the old stories and remembering all the crazy stuff we did during the years we worked together. We did some nice diving and I was very happy to be able to show them a few dolphins under water. I really hope they will visit us again next year because obviously I will not go to Holland (bbrrrrr much too cold!!).

Louk… I will keep teaching Sandy to say “zeehonden snuitje”!!

Indianapolis Colts to beat the Baltimore Ravens
This will be another tough game for the Colts but they have the offence to cope with all the schemes that the Ravens will bring. They will need another huge game from Manning and either Wayne or Clark but these players are capable of producing big numbers every week.

Dallas Cowboys to beat the Washington Redskins
For some reason I think that this will be a lot closer than many people think since I was impressed with the Redskins last week and totally unimpressed with the Cowboys offence last week. Plus the Redskins have a pretty good record in recent years down at Dallas. Look for Santana Moss to have his usual big game versus the Cowboys secondary but I still think Dallas should be good enough to win this game.

Detroit Lions to beat the Cleveland Browns
Surely even the Lions can beat the Browns, since they are easily the worst team in the NFL right now.

Green Bay Packers to beat the San Francisco 49ers
The Packers showed they still have enough quality to win against tough opposition last week and the 49ers are nowhere near as good as the Cowboys are. So I will be looking for the defence of the Packers to have another big game and for Rodgers to get some more points on the board.

Jacksonville Jaguars to beat the Buffalo Bills
The Bills finally did the right thing and fired Jauron but that isn’t going to instantly make this team any better though you may get the odd player uping their game to show off to the new coach. Not so sure about them signing Brohm either but I’ll wait a while before passing judgement on that. MJD and the Jags should have more than enough to beat the Bills.

Pittsburgh Steelers to beat the Kansas City Chiefs
This is an ideal game for Pittsburgh after their huge loss to the Bengals last week. Playing the Chiefs should allow them to get ahead early and let their defence have some fun. I will be looking for big games from Mendenhall and Roethlisberger.

Minnesota Vikings to beat the Seattle Seahawks
Favre and co will be looking for another win this weekend versus a poor Seahawks team. Percy Harvin will also be looking to impress yet again.

Atlanta Falcons to beat the New York Giants
Matt Ryan and Roddy White will have been looking forward to playing this banged up Giants secondary all week and I just don’t see things getting any easier for Eli and the Giants.

New Orleans Saints to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Yes Josh Freeman has played well so far but the Tampa defence is still not good enough to cope with an offence like the Saints. Well done Reggie Bush last week who showed so of the magic that made him such a high draft pick.

Arizona Cardinals to beat the St Louis Rams
Kurt Warner will show the Rams fans why his new team has been compared to his Rams team in the past. Fitzgerald will look to have a big game. Only question remain is whether or not the Cardinals can slow down Jackson who is playing great.

San Diego Chargers to beat the Denver Broncos
Denver is in free fall and the Chargers are on the charge. Then you add in the fact that Orton is unlikely to start and this looks like an easy victory for Rivers and co.

New England Patriots to beat the New York Jets
The Jets early season form is a thing of the past and they just don’t look like a team that can go to New England and get a result.

Cincinnati Bengals to beat the Oakland Raiders
Finally Tom Cable did something right in Oakland and that was to bench the biggest draft pick for ages, JaMarcus Russell. Yet again Russell has shown that arm strength just isn’t that important in the NFL. Cutler and Russell seem to be fighting to be the next Jeff George. The Bengals while beat up will easily take care of this poor Raiders team.

Philadelphia Eagles to beat the Chicago Bears
Cutler is a joke and the Eagles are playing well so this should be an easy win for the Eagles plus all of Cutlers bad games have come during evening games.

Tennessee Titans to beat the Houston Texans
Now if the Titans wear their old uniforms for this one will the locals know who to support? The Titans are on a roll and I expect them to keep it going with a win versus the Texans. Though this could turn into a bit of a shoot out.

Tonight’s NFL matchup, featuring the Carolina Panthers and the Miami Dolphins, is not only about ton

Tonight’s NFL matchup, featuring the Carolina Panthers and the Miami Dolphins, is not only about tonight as each team’s postseason hopes could all but vanish with a loss. Both teams share some odd similarities as they both: won their respective division titles last year, started the 2009 season 0-3, and have won 4 of their last 6 to improve to 4-5. The Carolina Panthers are one game behind Atlanta, Green Bay, New York (Giants), and Philadelphia in the NFC Wild-Card race while the Miami Dolphins are tied for 10th in the AFC conference and need a win to avoid falling out of the playoff picture. Both teams are also missing key players due to injury. The Dolphins’ starting running back, Ronnie Brown, will miss the rest of the regular season with a foot injury while the Panthers’ lost their All-Pro offensive tackle, Jordan Gross, due to a broken ankle. Both losses will affect the rushing attack of both teams, but Miami’s offense will be affected most as Brown, who has 8 rushing TDs in 9 games this season, usually runs the wildcat offense for the Dolphins . The quarterbacks of the two teams aren’t going to put up big numbers and are basically expected to complement the running game. Jake Delhomme has thrown 3 TDs and no interceptions over the past 3 weeks while Chad Henne almost gave away last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by throwing an interception with less than two minutes left in the game (Miami got the ball back and three plays later were in position to kick the game-winning field goal). Both teams average 156 rushing yards per game and it will be interesting to see if Miami’s tough run defense (97.4 yds/game) will hold up against “Double Trouble” (i.e. DeAngelo Williams and Johnathan Stewart).

Interesting things to keep an eye on:

Running attacks of both teams – Miami may not use the wildcat formation as often since Brown is out (Ricky Williams will start) while the Panthers’ best offensive lineman is out.

Panthers’ pass defense – Ranks fourth in the NFL (186.4 yds/game) and has 8 interceptions in the past three games

Miami’s rush defense – Ranks seventh in the NFL (97.6 yds/game)

Panthers Receiver Steve Smith – Smith caught 2 TDs last week against the Falcons to raise his season total to 3.

This has turned into a huge game for Miami since it will be their first without their MVP of the sea

This has turned into a huge game for Miami since it will be their first without their MVP of the season so far Ronnie Brown. I fell sorry for the Dolphins since they have no lost their starting QB and RB. Yes every team gets injuries but it has been a while since both teams lost players at these positions for the season after week 11. Losing Brown opens up a few questions:
Does this mean the end of the Wildcat?
Or are we just going to see alot more of Pat White?
Is Ricky Williams up to the task of being the number 1 back again?
Can Chad Henne get this offence moving?

The good thing about it being a Thursday night game for Miami is that the Panthers will have had less time to sort out their game plan after hearing about Brown.

The Panthers will be looking to continue their recent good play and in particular they will hope Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith can stretch the field to allow the running backs some space.

For soem reason I honestly think that Miami are going to win this but the fact they lost Brown is making have second guesses but I’m going to stick to my first thoughts and predict a win for the Dolphins.

I meant to do this ranking prior to Week 9, since that’s the unofficial midway point of the season,

I meant to do this ranking prior to Week 9, since that’s the unofficial midway point of the season, but I got caught up in the resurgence of Carolina football (two top 25 teams in two weeks!!)

Without further ado:

New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts

“We poppin like Champagne Bottles, but we never shook”

-Lil’ Wayne “Money 2 Blow” Remix

That has to be the theme in New Orleans and Indianapolis as the Saints finally have a defense to go with their prolific offense and the Colts still have Peyton Manning. As the last two undefeated teams in football, there really is nothing that worries these teams, especially the Colts who disposed of their chief rival on Sunday Night. Stay tuned as both have tough match-ups coming up. Colts in the ultimate grudge match (I think they may have played in Baltimore at some point…) and Saints (The Patriots come to town soon).

New England Patriots, San Diego Chargers, and Minnesota Vikings

“Don’t think I don’t think about it”

-Darius Rucker “Don’t think I don’t think about it”

Each team has to have certain moments from the season on their mind. The Patriots are one foot away (on a fourth down conversion against the Colts) from knocking off the AFC’s top team and putting distance between them and a middling division. The Chargers are one sensational fourth down play (see: Lewis, Ray vs. Sproles, Darren) away from challenging for the AFC’s top spots. The Vikings are one mishandled Chester Taylor pass away from perfection. Though, each team is playing at a high level, which helps to quell those “what if’s”. On a sidenote: Props to Darius Rucker, Country newcomer of the year.

Cincinatti Bengals

“I’ll step on your porch, step to your boss/Let’s end the speculation, I’m talking to all you.”

-Jay-Z “Ain’t no Love (Heart of the City”)

Marvin Lewis has the Queen City Team playing like a bunch of bullies. The Bengals are wearing the “Me against the world” title better than anyone this side of Tupac and the mid-90s Knicks. Punishing defense, crushing run game (even more now that they’ve signed Larry “I didn’t mean to insult homosexuals, just Todd Haley” Johnson)… Still. I don’t believe in them. That “Hard Knocks” series before the season revealed something (not as much as I thought as I made constant “So this is what a 4-12 team looks like” remarks), but something. I’m not ready to put them up in the second tier division, yet. I know they swept the Ravens and Steelers, but still… there’s something still lacking.

Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and Atlanta Falcons

“Woe is me, baby, this is tragic/ ‘Cause we had it, we was magic/ I was flyin’, now I’m crashin’”

-Kanye West “Knock you Down”

Each of these teams went from being sky high to well, not. The Broncos started the season media darlings before being brought back to earth by the Ravens and Steelers in consecutive weeks, understandable. However, the inexcusable thrashing they suffered at the hands of the Washington Clinton Portis’ was baffling. The Steelers, more understandably, were swept by the Bengals. The Cowboys were upended by the Brokeback Packers (not a gay diss, just an Aaron Rodgers diss… He looks like Jake Gyllenhal) who haven’t been able to win many games (only three out of their last ten!!). The Eagles suffered back-to-back losses that weren’t very close. The Falcons just lost to the Panthers…

Needless to say, each of these teams needs to regroup, much like Kanye in this whole post-award show backlash.

New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and Baltimore Ravens

“Reasons, like seasons, they constantly change and the seasons of last year, like reasons, have faded away.”

-Something Corporate “Me and the Moon”

The success of last season has (mostly) been missing for these teams. All of them have struggled with the pre-season expectations and (more likely) their adjusted schedules. The Giants raced out fast only to quickly be in search of answers losing four of their last five. The Dolphins have introduced a lot of new wrinkles to their wildcat formation without the electric success from last year. The Ravens have lost four games by an average of 5.3 points, the close games they thrived on finding ways to win last year. Just like the tier above and below these teams, they need to find a way to right the ship or the next season (off-season) could be filled with many, discontenting reasons.

New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, and San Francisco 49ers

“But heaven ain’t close in a place like this/Anything goes but don’t blink you might miss.”

-The Killers “Somebody Told Me”

What a grab bag of teams here… Each team has been great and awful this year (as has everyone else); however, these teams tend to be less “killers” than anything else. Though, as with every season, each team still has a glimmer of hope to redeem what’s left, but, if they blink, they’ll miss. Can Mark Sanchize pull a Matt Ryan/Joe Flacco and get his entourage to the play-offs? Can Vince Young keep up his magic (3-0 since he became the starter)? Can Maurice Jones-Drew carry the whole team every week? Will Jay Cutler continue to try his hardest to submarine the play-off chances of the Bears? Does anyone want to win the NFC West!?!?!?! By week 12, we will know all of these answers and more.

Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers, and Houston Texans

“Maybe, in the future, you’re gonna come back, you’re gonna come back to me.”

-Ingrid Michaelson “Maybe”

This is surely what the QBs of these three teams are saying in terms of their fan support. Donnie Darko-Rodgers caught a break with a win over Tony “It must be getting cold outside because I’m losing games I should win” Romo and the Cowboys, but Green Bay won’t forget he’s not Favre (especially with the Vikings having swept the Packers already this season). Poor Jake of the man, Steve Smith and the Charlotte fans are done with him. It’s official. They’re now, firmly, in the Sam Bradford/Troy Smith Sweepstakes. As for Houston, all the passing yards look nice, Matt Schaub, but win a game of importance or stay healthy for a whole season. Either one would be nice at this point.

Washington Redskins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Seattle Seahawks

“I know that it’s coming, I just hope that I’m alive for it.”

-Drake “Successful”

Yes, this entry needed a follow-up lyric to the first installment. That’s really all there is to say about these teams. Poor Clinton Portis and Jason Campbell… I would say I’m surprised by Josh Johnson play except that I’m more surprised by how well Josh Freeman has played. He’s been consistent and stepped up when he needs to most… the two things he embarrassingly lacked at K-State. The Ron Prince Era looks better and better. Oh, and Matt Hasselback was washed up two seasons ago. I’m frantically searching for evidence to the contrary.

Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and Oakland Raiders

“See potential in ya, let me mould that/I can transform ya, I can transform ya.”

-Chris Brown “I can Transform Ya”

This one goes out to the young Bills (Marshawn Lynch, Fred Jackson, and Roscoe Parrish), young Lions (Matt Stafford, Calvin Johnson, and Kevin Smith), and young Raiders (Darren McFadden, Michael Bush, Louis Murphy, and JaMarcus Russell… Well, maybe not Russell). Better times are coming guys. Whether that means you get traded to well-managed franchises or you’re indentured until you hit free agency, hope is out there. Or your GM could talk himself into Tebow being the Spread QB to break the trend and you get to chase after his wobbly ducks all next season. It could really go either way at this point.

St. Louis Rams and Kansas City Chiefs

“It never stops, when my mama ask me will I change/ I tell her yeah, but it’s clear I’ll always be the same.”

-Tupac “Until the End of Time”

It feels like the Rams and Chiefs will continue to be horrible until the end of time. The Rams can’t find anyone to buy them and will probably end up moving back to LA where they weren’t really liked in the first place. If they were smart, they’d change their name in transit. Maybe fool the West Coast into thinking they were someone else for a few years. Steven Jackson is football’s version of Zach Greinke. The Chiefs are a mess and I blame Todd Haley. One person hasn’t ruined a team this badly since Toni Braxton was making her rounds in Dallas. How do you alienate a future hall of famer (Tony Gonzales), a perennial pro bowl running back (Well, Larry Johnson has his own demons and would’ve self-destructed eventually… but Haley hurried the process), and a rising star wide receiver (Dwayne Bowe, too, is a moron, but at least he doesn’t post moronic Twitter updates and inspire a whole city to petition him out of town)? Herm Edwards and Carl Petersen just keep smiling wider and brighter each week on their respective television appearances.

Cleveland Browns

“We see the sun about three times a year!”

-Hastily made Cleveland Tourism Video

This is, roughly, the same number of wins Browns fans can expect in any given season… And now they want to use Lebron in football games!?!?! Whose idea was it to bring football back here, again?
