After reading an the following article: http://www.affiliates4u.com/forums/affiliate-marketing-lounge/127589-going-head-head-a4u-member-rival-sites.html, I decided it would be a good idea to join in the fun and create my own Oak furniture web site, hopefully I would learn a few tricks along the way, and may even manage to make a bit of extra cash.

I also decided to keep this blog tracking the sites creation, putting it live, and the promotion of the site (and ultimately how well it does in the search engines).

First of all I researched a domain name, and found one that I think is very suitable, the domain name I chose is oakcupboard dot co dot uk  (shown like this as I don’t want google spidering it yet).

Once I’d found the name, I registered it with ukreg (part of fasthosts), I find them to be one of the most reliable and cheapest companies for domain registrations, however I don’t host the site here (I find them a little costly for hosting).

I then setup my hosting, I already have a windows hosting account at http://www.webhosting.uk.com, I only have a shared hosting package but it allows up to 5 domains to be hosted, so it works out very cost effective.  I already have 3 other sites on this account and have great service from them, and on the odd occassion I have had a problem I’ve used the online chat service which has always been excellent and resolved issues immediately.
