É incrível a capacidade dos japoneses de arrecadarem fortunas com bichinhos com as figuras mais absurdas. Depois de Hello Kitty, Keroppi, Chococat e derivados, foi a vez de um pedaço de tolete com cara de louco virar mania mundial. Estamos falando de Domo. Mas com ele a coisa foi sem querer. Criado para comemorar o aniversário do canal NHK(a “TV Cultura” do Japão), o monstrinho de carpete virou febre estampando todo tipo de bugiganga.

Se você é aficcionado por essas coqueluches nipônicas, com certeza já viu o rosto de Domo espalhado por aí, principalmente em eventos otaku onde aparece estampado em camisetas. Com uma expressão mais indecifrável que o sorriso da Monalisa, o serzinho que conquistou todo mundo (por aqui teve seus curtas exibidos pela Nickelodeon) finalmente está tendo produtos lançado oficialmente no Brasil.

A Long Jump (a mesma que trouxe as figuras dos Cavaleiros do Zodíaco e atualmente trabalha com Kamen Rider), depois de colocar nas lojas pelúcias e outros cacarecos do personagem, está lançando uma nova coleção de miniaturas do bicho em seis versões para colecionar (e decorar sua casa =P).

In my opinion, there’s nothing worse than running late to catch a flight. So when I made plans to fly on Thanksgiving, one of the busiest travel days of the year, I knew there’d be no time for sleeping in or any other forms of carelessness. And that’s why I’m here a whole two-plus hours early, watching the smaller-than-expected crowds eagerly awaiting chariots of the sky to carry them off to places filled with more familiar faces and tasty treats.

A few observations during my wait:
• The last three boys to sit across from me were each wearing Vans sneakers.
• The guy on his cell phone just said he had bacon and eggs for “breaffkist.”
• Dude with the Stussy decal on his laptop has a Power Rangers-theme ring tone. Talk about 2,000-late.
• Apparently curling irons are a higher security risk than turkeys.
• It’s 80 degrees outside but half the girls are in Uggs and scarves.

The children are very fond of Domo, a funny fake monster plush toy they sell at Target.  We suspect his origins may be Japanese, but we really don’t know

They each have two.  One of the C-man’s Domos is MIA at the moment, but we know he is Around Here Somewhere.

Anyway, apparently the Domos are very fond of Halloween, and got into quite a bit of mischief after eating too much candy.

As promised, here are photos of the children and their pumpkins.

We bought one of those pumpkin carving kits, and the Princess used one of those stencils.  Unfortunately both of the saws that came with the kit broke long before she was finished.  But we happen to have two pumpkin carving knives purchased from Pampered Chef years ago, and she managed to muddle through with that.

We think the pumpkin monster kind of looks like Domo.  What do you think?

The C-man went with a more traditional approach, and drew his design onto the pumpkin with a marker before he started hacking away.  It’s a werewolf.

And here is my pumpkin.  It has been de-gooped but it is still blank.  And it will probably remain so.  I don’t know what kind of medication I was taking that made me think I would have time to carve a pumpkin.  Anyway, doesn’t it look fabulous?

And on a side note, I have informed the children that this is the last year I will be de-gooping pumpkins free of charge.  Next year they can do it themselves.

The good news:

sure the water was cold, but we got some epic shots of the water at good ol’ marine street and windansea in la jolla. 

Looks good right? well there’s a few issues.

The bad news:

First, i got also got ahold of my friends underwater camera. Unfortuantely the conditions werent too good for shooting, but still got some good shots. but dont have the cable to upload them from the camera to the computer since olympus is biased and dont use mini USB, they have their own special cables. Anywho

The other problem is that we had some downtime when waiting for one of our buds and took some snap shots of our cars. Now i feel like changing my book and focusing on cars since the swells on the beach arent that great and no one wants to come skimming with me in the cold water. ha ha. maybe ill make two books or Professor small suggested composing two chapters. Just have to find a way to link the two hobbies together. 

I was looking for a new MMORPG to play recently and I realized something terrible.

All the good ones either wanted you to pay a monthly fee or to dish out a lot of money in order to function even a little.

Now, I’m willing to pay money for a MMORPG. But a monthly fee to have access to the game, or money to make my character have a different hue hair color? No thank you.

So, here’s what I’m looking for in an MMORPG:

It’s Free. No dishing out money monthly to pay or download it, no one time fee. By all means, have extras like special pets, special steeds, or interesting clothing. But fighting well in the game should rely purely on stats from the character, armor, steeds, and pets.

Customization should be expansive. If I want to make a fat blue-skinned elf, I should be able to. If I want to give my character pink hair, I should be able to. Take a hint from Perfect World on this one. Customization is a wonderful and good thing. It allows the player to get into character.

Great graphics are demanded. I don’t care if this is a 2D MMORPG or a 3D MMORPG, I want good graphics. I don’t want to stare at poorly modeled figures. I either want to stare at something cartoony (Fiesta Online, Mabinogi, MapleStory, WonderKing) or something realistic (Perfect World).

Multiple races to keep up variety. By all means, make the only choices Human, Elf, and Troll. I’d be fine with that. But I want various races. I should be able to customize my character, my toon, as much as I feel I want to. If I want to be a troll cleric, human archer, or elf fighter, those should be choices available to me.

Character stats should adhere to a specific system. What I mean by this is that Humans, Elves, and Trolls should all have a different range of base stats (trolls having 7 – 10 strength, humans having 5 – 7 strength, elves having 3 – 5 strength, so on and so forth). However, you should be given X number of “free stats” to distribute as you please BEFORE you get into the game. Once in the game, at every level you should be able to decide where to put extra “free stats”. These stats should help decide your physical attack, magical attack, physical defense, magical defense, attack speed, character speed on land, character speed in water, character speed in flight, character speed in climbing, and character speed in performing material-making tasks.

Monsters around your level shouldn’t take more than 30 seconds to kill. Everyone wants to reach a high level and get a sense of accomplishment. If you think I’m going to grind for what feels like an infinity to gain a single level before I even get my first advancement, you have another thing coming (a problem with Flyff that I had, but oddly, not Fiesta Online!).

Land, Sea, and Sky. On land, you should be able to run, climb, and jump. In the water, you should be able to swim. In the air, you should be able to ascend, descend, or keep level. A good MMORPG will cover all of these.

An interesting, tiered class system. In my opinion, all MMORPGs should include at least Mages, Fighters, Archers, and Clerics, or a variant thereof. I am still searching for an MMORPG that incorporates all four of these in a way that is unique and different, such as maybe starting out as a mage and then being able to decide between cleric and druid.

A varied production skill class. Everyone should have the ability to choose a production skill which they can use to make either potions, armor, weapons, or materials. Limiting one production skill per player creates an environment where people can socialize and make friendships in order to advance.

Pets are great! Everyone should have the ability to get a pet in game without spending real money. If there is a druid class or a nature-based class, they should have the ability to create or summon a pet to their side free of cost aside perhaps mana. Pets should have three life stages, baby, adolescent, and adult. The food you feed your pet should affect the way your pet looks. Pets should be able to gain experience and level, and they should be able to attack mobs. Cooler looking pets (I mean, who doesn’t want a sphinx for a pet!?) should cost real money.

Want to be speedy? Get a steed. I don’t care what other games do, but like pets, steeds should be available to people without a credit card. Make them insanely priced for faster speeds with in-game currency. Make cooler, even faster steeds cost real money. I don’t know about you, but I’d pay money to ride around on a tiger or a pegasus!

Multiple venues for experience. Word counters should be included within a game so that people who are social and prefer to hold conversations can gain experience from doing so. If not that, there should be something in place so that if you talk to your friends on your friends list that are online at the same time as you, if they’ve been online for longer than five minutes, you get an experience boost. Also allow there to be experience gained from using production skills, as time is both money and experience wasted in most all games. Also, allow there to be an experience boost for those who have traveled multiple maps in 24 hours. That way, everyone can be catered to.

Built in video systems. Needing Fraps or similar software in order to catch hackers in the act of hacking is no good. Also, being able to video your experiences in the game and post them on the net creates more of a community and advertises for the game at the same time.

Report Systems! There needs to be a great report system in any worthwhile MMORPG. I don’t want to spend an hour screaming at my computer because some jerk is KSing (that’s KillStealing) me and I can’t do anything about it. While KSing may or may not be against your game’s rules (it should certainly be discouraged), you should be able to right click the person you need to and hit the report button to report them.

Effective Anti-Hacking software. Everyone is tired of seeing hackers unless they themselves are hackers. In conjunction with a good reporting system, there should be effective anti-hacking software to keep the hackers out in the first place. The game being server-sided would help to discourage hacking.

And finally…

A compelling story. This is something many games lack. Fiesta Online actually has a very interesting story, it’s a shame that it’s overrun with bots and that it costs money to customize yourself. You should have a compelling story in order to hook people into the game. Make me want to play the game. Make me want to do quests. I have yet to see a game aside from Dream Of Mirror Online that has roleplay to it, that has a great story to it.

What a lovely day. I got up early, had a little breakfast, then read on the couch for an hour or so.  Met my friend Jennifer for lunch and a walk around Del Ray, then pulled up a sunny spot of curb and watched the annual Halloween parade.  Hundreds of people, it seemed – kids in costumes, dogs in costumes, strollers and wagons decked out to resemble spaceships, barnyards, the Hall Of Justice…  it was a gorgeous day.  Wrapped it up with a Kick Off meeting for the DC chapter of NaNoWriMo - we start in less than a week;  the goal is 1,667 words a day for the month of November.  If you want to see me, you better get on the calendar now, ’cause November is locked down.

Breakfast:  lemon water; oats, almonds, water, apples, cinnamon, arugula; traditional medicinals chai.

Lunch:  decaf with “pumpkin spice” fake creamer goo; panini with eggplant, zucchini, onion, portobello and mushroom; baby carrots; pickle; water.  The coffee came from 7-11, it was a compelling $.99 and came in a Domo cup.  Neither Jennifer, I, nor the several patrons we queried knew anything about this Domo character.  Lunch was at the Caboose Cafe, and hit the spot, although we both agreed the sandwich would have been much better with some spinach on it.

Dinner:  more decaf; tater tots and ketchup; sauerkraut balls with mustard; green beans; red cabbage; sweet potato; avocado with dulse; water.  Clean out the fridge finger food feast.

Snack:  sprouted wheat toast with butter, honey and almond butter; decaf.  I do love my little french press.  And I just figured out I can brew my loose tea in it.  Who knew?

Rolety zakłada się bardzo szybko, szczególnie mini rolety, które wystarczy poskładać z gotowych elementów i zawiesić na skrzydle okna. Mini rolety można stosować do okien otwieranych tradycyjnie oraz uchylnych. Ich konstrukcja umożliwia montaż na oknach dachowych. Specjalne szyny prowadzące wzdłuż szyby zabezpieczaję roletę przed wypadnięciem. Dzięki tym zabezpieczeniom, można korzystać z uroków rolety,a jednocześnie wietrzyć pomieszczenie.

I took the little one into 7-11 the other day to grab her a slurpee and notice the store was done up in a DOMO theme. They had everything domo’d up from coffee cups,to big bites and signage of course. I noticed they had these kick ass DOMO slurpee straw toppers, so needless to say I grabbed quite a few extras!

They have also added their treasure hunting system, which involves killing so many mobs in an area in order for a chest to drop.

There is also a halloween quest guide up on in the general forums for domo. The rumour is if you do them you get a bunny hat. I’m not sure whats the recommended class level.

We just got a new design today called “Domo Vs. Excess.” It was originally a collab of my ISER character and the infamous Domo-Kun, but we decided to throw some more eXCESS on it and release it as a shirt. It came out really good.
