Skąd ta burza medialna wokół zmiany konstytucji? Niby znam powód, ale za nim stoi kolejny – sensowniejszy. Grzebiąc dalej wreszcie docieramy do momentu, w którym okazuje się, że jest to zwyczajny szum medialny. W myśl zasady „klasa hałasuje, a ja podpowiadam”.

„Ja wolę system kanclerski! Ja prezydencki! Władza dla premiera! Nie dla prezydenta!”. Ech… I po co te przepychanki. Według mnie jest dobrze tak jak jest, choć wszyscy w koło wpierają, że potrzeba zmian. Czasem wydaje mi się, że ludzie po prostu boją się powiedzieć, że jest dobrze. Jeśli jest dobrze to, co można na ten temat powiedzieć?

Niewiele: „Jest ok”, „Podoba mi się aktualny system”, „Sądzę, że obecne rozwiązania konstytucyjne są optymalne”. Do tego jedno-dwu zdaniowe uzasadnienie i temat się wyczerpuje. Tak niestety być nie może. Gdzie ja się popiszę swoją wiedzą o polityce, elokwencją?! Zgodzić się na utrzymanie status quo to jak dobrowolnie wyłączyć się z debaty publicznej. Minus 10 z lansu jak mawia pokolenie MMORPG.

Przecież system z dwoma organami władzy wykonawczej jest niemal idealny. Już starożytni demokraci nie byli tak głupi, by władzę oddawać jednej osobie. Mamy zresztą klasyczny przykład na to, co się dzieje, gdy jednostka może zbyt wiele. Juliusz Cezar – dyktatorem został obrany na 10 lat (choć mógł tylko na 6 miesiecy), a zasiedział się na stanowisku tyle, że po nim musiał je przejąć, już jako cezar, jego syn, wnuk, prawnuk (adoptowani, ale jednak) i tak przez ponad 200 lat (kiedy to wymyślili, że nie ma co udawać, że ktoś oprócz nich ma władzę i zlikwidowali senat). Świetlana przyszłość.

Pominąwszy jednak to, że system jest dobry, to w pomyśle Tuska mamy klasyczne manipulowanie masami. Cała Polska emocjonuje się planami Tuska próbując wybrać między systemem kanclerskim, a już dawno proponowanym przez Prawo i Sprawiedliwość systemem prezydenckim. Politycy sprytnie podzielili Polaków na dwa obozy. Jak wiadomo, gdzie są tylko dwa przeciwne poglądy, tam żaden nie ustąpi. Zarówno jedni jak i drudzy są bardzo liczni. Tak nakręca się debata publiczna z pominięciem sił o słabszym głosie w mediach. Ci, którzy są niezdolni do indywidualizmu przechodzą do jednego z dwóch obozów, by czuć, że są w stadzie, wśród swoich. Mniej więcej w ten sposób PiS i PO wygrywają od lat wybory. Nic nie robią. Wystarczy, że stawiają wyborcę przed „koniecznością” wybrania jednej z dwóch opcji.

Jednak w końcu dochodzimy do sedna całej burzy medialnej. Jak zauważa Leszek Miller przytaczany przez Obserwatora Tusk zapewne nie chce zmieniać konstytucji, ale na rękę mu jest, by o tym mówić. Biorąc pod uwagę to, że dzisiaj przesłuchiwano Boniego i Kapicę, to jest to ruch całkiem logiczny.

I don’t know if you realize who Donald Trump really is. Yes some of you may know him from his many TV shows and appearances on Letterman and you also may know that he is the most successful real estate investor in the world. But did you know that Mr. Trump wrote a book recently with Robert Kiyosaki, Why We Want You To Be Rich, well in this book, these two gentlemen already knew this recession was going to happen, and that they wanted everyone on the rich-side vice the poor and middle class-side of things before such an event were to happen. Today was perfect.  Brother J, a few good friends, and I had an incredible brunch at the Carrol Street Cafe that consisted of Belgian Waffles, shrimp frittata and croissant sandwiches.  Unfortunately D ordered the best brunch and learned what it’s like to sit in between two members of a family who suffer from serious food envy, devouring her plate the millisecond she acted like she was finished.  After brunch we walked over to the Cabagge Town Chomp and Stomp and set up camp with Brother J’s two enormous jugs of lemonade vodka and a secret stash of Reese’s Pieces.  The point of attending the festival was to try the chilli but by the time my gastrointestinal system acclimated to brunch, vodka, and candy the chilli supply had run out. C’est la vie.

D and I took a turn around the hundreds of vendor tents loaded to the brim with crap I will never buy even when I am semi-intoxicated.  Out of the thousands of trinkets and bobbles for sale I only noticed one item worth purchasing but decided to think on it for a little while.  Brother J then had his go-round the tents, returned and I asked him if he saw anything worth buying.  And this is why people always freak out and think we are twins:

J: Just this cool picture of a whale.

Me: Holy shit! Me too.

J: I’ll play you paper-rocks-scissors and the loser has to buy it for the other person.

Me: Sure. You always lose anyway.

J: Ok.  I’m going to say scissors, just so you know.

Me: Right. And I’m going to say Thanks for the picture sucka.

In the latest round of the saga of poor Carrie Prejean,  a sex tape of the former Miss California USA has been introduced into the plot.    As you’ll recall, Miss Prejean became a darling of the right wing after coming in second in the Miss USA contest.  Her response to a question on same-sex marriage, not noted for it’s intelligence or delivery, even if a dearly held belief of Miss Prejean’s,  became instant fodder for the judge who asked the question, on-line gossip Perez Hilton. Quickly taken up by the religious right, who echoed her claims that she lost the Miss USA crown due to her “moral” stand on same-sex marriage,  her cause became a national sensation, portrayed as an attack on her personal “family values” beliefs.  The latest chapter in this never-ending saga now includes reports of a video of Miss Prejean in a solo performance of a sexual nature.

Early on, Prejean was depicted as the darling of the right.  Beautiful, charming, and a firm defender of family values,  the right immediately took up the battle to defend her against the savage attacks of the “homosexual activists who want to destroy America and it’s families”.    Prejean toured the country, appearing at right wing religious affairs, defending her position on same-sex marriage with statements that, when translated into  Hollywood-speak, were basically “but….  I’m a beauty queen!”.   Donald Trump got into the act, first supporting Prejean, then later firing her after she continued to ignore the contract she signed with the pageant (owned by Trump).  You can’t get away with ignoring the Donald for very long, even if you’re Miss California!

The first bump on Prejean’s road to disaster may have been the revelation that the Miss California USA pageant paid $5,200 for breast enhancement surgery for Miss Prejean before the Miss USA pageant.  At the time, the Pageant defended the practice as “quite common” in the industry.

Next, she failed to inform the Pageant of appearances she was making at conservative and religious gatherings, as required in her contract.  She also failed to appear at events scheduled by the Pageant.  Prejean’s explanations for these issues also translated into “but…. I’m a beauty queen!”.   The Donald fired her, she sued, and the Pageant sued back.

The lawsuit by Prejean was dropped recently, however, when the news of a sex tape starring Miss Prejean in a solo performance was announced.  Rather than risk it making it out to the internet,  Prejean and her legal team settled with the Pageant, and withdrew her lawsuit.  Terms were sealed in a confidentiality agreement.

The tarnished crown still follows Miss Prejean, however.  Tonight’s appearance at “Defenders of the Family” will not include the former beauty queen.

If you were planning on attending, you’ll have to make due with Bill and George, instead.

It will be interesting to see if Carrie can pull out of her nose dive and restore her crown, at least with the religious right.  The tape may be the straw that broke the right-wing camel’s back, however, and Miss Prejean may become another example of hypocrisy in action.  The Queen is dead!  Long live the Queen!

Ja, da er det altså Halloween (Allehelgensaften). Da jeg var liten guttunge så leste jeg om Halloween i Donald-tegneserier, men det var aldri snakk om å markere dagen sjøl.

Donald J Pliner has finished it again! The Donald J Pliner Fundraiser hosted by Elaine Wynn and Jenna Morton was a bounteous success! The annual fundraiser raised thousands of dollars for at-risk kids thanks to friends, kinsfolk and board members of the After-School All-Stars! The festive fundraiser was held on October 1st at the Donald J Pliner store inside the Caesars Forum Shops. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres were provided by Joe’s Stone Crab. Professional photography was provided by Wynn Photographic Services.

Thanks to everyone for helping to spread the word and inviting their friends and kinsfolk members to the fundraiser! After-School All-Stars Board Members in attendance included: Jenna Morton, Judy Reich, Kathy Harney, Evangelist Pucci, Frederic Apcar, Dick Gott, Eryn Rice-Sebelius, Emily Goodman, Susie Lee, and Evangelist Pasqualotto.
