En internet uno cada día descubre nuevas e inimaginables cosas. Es el caso de lo que os traigo hoy: juegos para Mac.

No, no se trata de un Call of Duty, ni de un Need for Speed, ni ninguno de hoy en día. En AbandonMac he encontrado un sinfín de juegos Abandonware, es decir, de los antiguos y que pocos juegan hoy en día (todos ellos para Mac ), así que he decidido hacer una recopilación de los que más me gustan o gustaban, desde  Prehistorik hasta Prince of Persia, pasando por otros como Star Wars o Quake (la gran mayoría de ellos, emulados en DOSBox).

Así entonces, empecemos:

Doom 1 y 2:

Pues que deciros de estos juegos de 1993 (Doom 1) y de 1994 (Doom 2), a los cuales seguro que todos o casi todos hemos jugado.

La diferencia entre la primera y segunda entrega no es otra que la incorporación de una nueva arma y personaje enemigo, y algun que otro nivel.

Carmageddon:

Este es más ‘nuevecito’ que Doom, pero tampoco se salva… era 1997 cuando Stainless Games desarrolló este juego caracterizado por su violencia, cuyo objetivo era finalizar la carrera o destrozar los coches de los adversarios (como disfrutabamos con la matanza de peatones, ¿eh?)

Un juego que personalmente creo que engancha y que vale la pena tener.

Megaman X

Un videojuego de Capcom, talvez desconocido, pero no por eso menos importante, ya que fué el que hizo dar el salto de NES a Super Nintendo en el año 1994, alcanzando tal éxito que en 1995 apareció a la venta para ordenadores personales. En 2006, hubo un remake para PSP, PS2, y Nintendo Game Cube.

Prehistorik 1 y 2

Si me pongo a hablar de éste juego no acabaría nunca… he pasado largas horas jugando en el ordenador de mi tía cuándo yo tenía unos 8 años y ella unos 22 o 23… que tardes aquellas jugando ante un ordenador anterior al Pentium I creo recordar… Así entonces, seré breve.

Prehistorik es un juego de plataformas, la primera parte creada en 1991, y la segunda en 1994. Luego fué adaptado también para las consolas Game Boy y Super Nintendo Entertainment System, y la versión de SNES fue a su vez adaptada para Game Boy Advance en 2001.

Otro juego de plataformas conocido internacionalmente, y que marcaría varias generaciones a partir de su aparición en 1989 de la mano de Jordan Mechner, su creador (quién pasó largas horas estudiando filmaciones de su hermano corriendo, consiguiendo así unos movimientos no vistos hasta entonces).

Quake

Publicado por id Software el día 31 de mayo del año 1996, introdujo algunos de los mayores avances en el modelado de juegos 3D: modelos en tres dimensiones para los jugadores y monstruos, en vez de ’sprites’ bidimensionales, moviéndose en un espacio tridimensional.

Star Wars X-Wing

Esta primera entrega de la serie fue publicada en 1993 por la empresa de videojuegos de Lucasfilm (empresa de George Lucas, director, escritor y productor de la saga de películas de Star Wars).

El juego ofrecía un sistema de combate en 3D, siguiendo las particulares leyes físicas de las películas de Star Wars, como viajar a velocidad de la luz, seres y planetas nunca imaginados antes… Fué uno de los primeros videojuegos en incluir escenas cinematográficas para mantener la motivación del jugador.

Wer sich RPG-Fan nennen will kommt nicht an dem Namen Bethesda Softworks vorbei. Die Traditionsschmiede hochwertiger RPGs dürfte heute vor allem für die Bestseller TES4: Oblivion und Fallout 3 bekannt sein, doch schon in den 90ern hat Bethesda die Rollenspielherzen höher schlagen lassen. Auf den Debüttitel “The Elder Scrolls: Arena” folgte der zweite Teil der Reihe: “TES2: Daggerfall”. Das Spiel zeichnete sich durch die riesengroße Welt, die völlige Entscheidungsfreiheit, die unendlich langen Dungeons und viel Liebe zum Detail aus. Nicht zuletzt deshalb ist Daggerfall noch heute für viele Fans der beste Teil der Reihe.

Nachdem bereits zum 10 jährigen Jubiläum der Elder Scrolls Reihe der erste Teil “Arena” vom Hersteller kostenlos zum Download angeboten wurde, folgte Daggerfall nun zum 15 jährigen Jubiläum. Endlich konnte jeder in den Genuss des Illac Bay, der Spielwelt von Daggerfall, kommen. Jeder? Nun, theoretisch ja! Wäre da nicht das Problem mit der Kompatibilität der heutigen Rechner zu Dosgames. Denn Daggerfall wurde zwar zum Download angeboten, allerdings nur die alte Dosfassung, die sich natürlich nicht ohne weiteres auf den aktuellsten XP- und Vistarechnern zum laufen bringen lässt. Abhilfe schafft hier zwar ein Dos-Emulator wie Dosbox, doch die Einrichtung kann für unerfahrene PC Benutzer zur recht komplizierten Aufgabe werden. Und selbst wenn man alles eingerichtet hat, kann es weiterhin zu Problemchen kommen, die den Spielspaß trüben. Was also tun?

User luciusdxl musste da gar nicht lange überlegen: Ein Windows Port muss her! Was bei Klassikern wie Sam&Max, Day of the Tentacle und co. SCUMMVM heißt, heißt für Daggerfall-Fans DaggerXL. Ein von Grund auf programmierter Windowsport mit vielen Zusatzfunktionen, Grafikverbesserungen und sogar Mod-Tools. Das Programm befindet sich im Augenblick noch im frühen Alphastadium, doch die Demos und Screenshots sind schon durchaus beeindruckend. Neue Lichteffekte, riesige Sichtweiten und natürlich eine stabile Framerate – DaggerXL macht sich die neuste Rechnergeneration perfekt zunutze, um Daggerfall aufzupeppen. Zwei Alphaversionen sind im Moment zum Download verfügbar – die erste führt euch durch einen der finsteren Dungeons, die zweite gibt euch die Möglichkeit auf Erkundungstour in einer Stadt zu gehen.

Alles in allem bleibt nur zu sagen: DaggerXL ist ein richtig feines Projekt für alle RPG-Liebhaber. Die Fertigstellung wird zwar noch etwas dauern, aber im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Projekten, die nach wenigen Wochen in der Versenkung verschwinden, gibt sich luciusdxl richtig Mühe, veröffentlicht regelmäßig Projektnews und Bilder, weshalb man sich beruhigt auf DaggerXL freuen kann – ein Fest für neue und alte RPG-Fans!

Ze względu na to co się dzieje na Systemach Operacyjnych w klasie postanowiłem pokazać wam rozwiązania paru problemów z lekcji a później je wytłumaczyć.
Podstawowe polecenia powinny być wam znane z tego kursu. Nowe jest polecenie SET, które opiszę na końcu. Obowiązuje znajomość jak tworzyć pliki wsadowe, jak zapisywać je, oraz podstawowa składnia tych plików. Jeżeli po tym kursie nie będziesz w stanie pojąć magii polecenia SET, możesz skopiować programy które są tutaj, jednak uważaj że należy zmienić parę rzeczy aby wszystkie pliki nie wyglądały tak samo.

Program jest bardzo sztywny… ciężko jest zrobić szablon dlatego trzeba go koniecznie zrozumieć. Zmieniać się będą errorlevel oraz ścieżki do plików. Z góry odradzam używanie adresów bezwzględnych. Lepiej upchnąć plik z menu w jednym folderze z grami i po prostu odnosić się do katalogów niżej. Uwaga na plik CHOICE.COM, jeśli Twój XP go nie ma, jest opisane rozwiązanie w poprzedniej części kursu.

zamiast:

cd c:/games/gra1/

można dać plik *.bat z menu do folderu games i:

cd /gra1/

Gdzie bym nie dał folderu games, to menu zadziała.

Polecenie SET

Polecenie SET dzielimy na dwa rodzaje z przełącznikiem /P oraz /A . Ten pierwszy służy do przypisywania zmiennych, zaś drugi do obliczeń na nich. Zmienne które definiujemy za pomocą SET , używamy ze znakami procenta na końcu i początku. Do zdefiniowanej zmiennej zmienna odniesiemy się %zmienna% . Jeżeli po znaku = nie damy nic, to będzie to oznaczać że wartość ma przypisać użytkownik. Polecenie SET nie działa w boxdosie, ale nie chciało mi się już badać tego problemu.

Przykład:

Healthy and nutritious!

I really don’t know much about working out and exercising.  I just go there and lift things until I tired.  I’m not even sure if some of them are approved weights.  Like those things with the treads, not sure if that’s for lifting or what.  Surely, they’re not for running in place.  That’d be silly.

In other news, I went on a campaign to beat some old childhood games which led me to the independent game company, AGDI.  They did a remake of the original King’s Quest game.  They updated the graphics and added voice-overs to match the style of King’s Quest V.  The rest of the game (the puzzles and plot) remains in tact, so fear not.  I think they could’ve made the graphics more HD, like the Street Fighter HD Remix, but this was a free production so I can’t ask for much I suppose.  I’ve checked out a couple other old DOS games using DOSBox as an emulator platform.  Old games have a really different vibe.  Adventure games like King’s Quest have really died off since the advent of 3D gaming.  Those games were a lot of fun, and very story driven.  It saddens me that today’s games have amazing graphics, but gameplay boils down to shooting your way through to the end.  Even puzzles in modern games are basically finding keys and switches.  I admire AGDI for trying to make adventure games again.  I think a small developer could do well make cheap 2D games that are heavy on the storyline.

Dos box, eski disket oyunlarını veya dos üzerinden çalışan oyunları yeni işletim sistemlerinde oynayabilmenizi sağlayan bir emulatördür.Dos Box‘u program halinde indirmek için tıklayın.Önceki yazımızdaki PortableApps programını kullanıyorsanız, buradan flash belleğiniz için portable versiyonunu indirebilirsiniz.

Oyunum C:\Theme adresinde durmaktadır.Karışıklığı engellemek için x:\Games\Theme gibi yaparsanız bir çok oyuna daha rahat ulaşabilirsiniz.

Öncelikle ana ekran Z: sanal sürücüsüyle açılıyor, ilk yapmamız gereken oyunu nerede bulunuyorsa o bölümü çağırmak olacak bunun için.

Who out there has a Zipit? Great, now out of the five of you, who really wants to run Dos on it? Well, for the one or two of you left reading, now you can. The directions can be found here. [Hunter] has worked out a way to get DosBox running on his Zipit. At 315 mhz his old DOS games, like AD&D shown above, are running quite snappily. A few days ago I installed DOSBox on my computer. I downloaded some of the programs I used to play as a kid (Keen Dreams, Duke Nukem, Scorch, Aces of the Pacific). During my teenage years I saw sports games evolve from simple stick figures to much more realistic graphics.  Eventually I played Hardball, FrontPage Sports Football, and EA Sports NHL. Before they came on to the scene, there were far simpler games.

There were two primitive sports games that I played for many hours that I could not recall the names of. Both of them were simple shareware programs that were on floppy disks. One was a baseball game with little red and blue stick figures, and the other was a football game with little red and blue letters.

Today I was talking to my Mom on the phone and she mentioned she had found a few old floppy disks in storage, including one called Cunning Football (I think it was a tribute to Randall Cunningham, who was at his peak when the game was released). That was the title of the mysterious football game I could not remember. Cunning Football.

So of course I downloaded it today.

Talk about memories. As soon as I started playing it I remembered many of the little tips and tricks I figured out over countless hours in the early 1990s.

The game is played against the computer. The gamer has control of a linebacker on defense or whoever has the ball on offense. The computer is always the home team, which wears blue. The game consists of four 15 minute quarters.

I played two full games today, which is a bit ridiculous. By the end of the second one the nostalgia was wearing off. But it is still pretty cool.

This time i’ll try to explain a couple of methods for recording your own dosbox movies.

The first and easiest one is to use the dosbox recording feature, by default this is done by pressing CTRL+ALT+F5 to

start recording, to stop recording just press CTRL+ALT+F5 again.

You can reassign this keys to any other one on the keyboard to do this you must press CTRL+F1 at the dosbox promp this will start the keymapper

Then just click on video then on add and press the key you want to assign (make sure it’s an unused key on the game you want to record) now you are ready to record your own dos games movies (the video files are stored on the same folder as the configuration file).

Now the second method, recording using fraps (this is the one i use)

I just wanna make some points clear.

1.-This method is only useful if you want to record high resolution videos and only if the dos game support high resolutions

2.-Fraps videos take a lot more space than dosbox videos

Here we go, the first thing you’ll notice is that fraps doesn’t recognise dosbox, this is because fraps only works with applications usin directx or opengl.

To change this you need to edit your dosbox configuration file (i explained where its located on the previous tutorial) open it with notepad an find this section: [sdl]

Now edit the output command to look like this output=opengl and save the changes.

Start fraps and then dosbox, if you see a number on the upper left corner this means fraps has detected dosbox and is able to record video from it.

So, i’ll be trying to explain how to use dosbox properly, so here we go.

The first thing you need it’s obviously the Dosbox emulator, you can get it here: www.dosbox.com

For this tutorial i’ll be installing the shareware version of Shadow Warrior

The first thing you need to do it’s mount the directory where you have your dos game, to do this you need to input the following command:

mount c followed by the path of your dos game, example: mount c d:\games

now when you type c: it will take you to your mounted directory, you need to type this commands every time you start dosbox, to avoid this you need to do the following:

Go to your dosbox directory and locate your dosbox configuration file (dosbox.conf) or if you are using the newest version of dosbox (0.73) it’s located here: C:\Documents and Settings\Your_user_name\localconfiguration\application data\DOSBox (I use the spanish version of windows xp so i don’t know if the path it’s correct)

Open your configuration file with notepad and scroll  down to the autoexec section and input your mount commands

Now that we are still in the configuration don’t forget to change the memsize from 16 to 32. Now we are ready to install.

Now we type in cd the name of your game directory (no more than 8 characters)then type the name of your game executable.

Install it in the default directory (c:\sw) remember that C it’s your mounted directory. After the installation it’s done we can finally play.

I hope this tiny tutorial can help anyone that is having problems configuring dosbox.

O instalador tem 148mb. Para rodar o jogo, você precisará de um emulador de DOS, sendo o mais popular o DOSBox.
