La pubblicità è sicuramente una delle cose più fastidiose, soprattutto se va a saturare una pagina come quella di Facebook già molto ricca di elementi e informazioni. Così, potrebbe essere molto utile eliminare la barra laterale destra che contiene solo annunci pubblicitari. Pengembang Mozilla akhirnya telah merilis versi Beta yang pertama untuk Firefox 3.6 dan saat ini sudah dapat didownload untuk yang ingin mencobanya. Firefox 3.6 akan menjadi generasi berikutnya setelah Firefox 3.5x. Firefox 3.6 Final masih akan dijadwalkan untuk rilis pada awal tahun 2010.

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

نستعرض اليوم منافسة جديدة بين برنامجين من أكثر البرامج استعمالا أثناء استعمال الأنترنت ألا وهما متصفحي الأنترنت الشهيرين فايرفوكس و انترنت اكسبلور، الكثير منا لا يعرف عمل هذين البرنامجين رغم أنه يستعمل أنترنت اكسبلور طوال مدة جلوسه على شبكة الإنترنت

هذا البرنامج له تاريخ أسود مع كثير من المستخدمين. كم أضاع من وقت و من جهد وكم أصابني بنوبات قلبية و عصبية. باختصار هذا البرنامج مضر بالصحة، أنا اليوم لن أعقد مقارنة بينه و بين  الفايرفوكس لأن ذلك يدخل في باب السخرية من فايرفوكس أن نقارنه مع برنامج حجري تافه مثل الإكسبلور (أعرف أني قاس على الاكسبلور لكن دعوني أفرغ ما في قلبي من هذا البرنامج)

هذا البرنامج منتشر بدرجة كبيرة بين الأجهزة و هذا ليس براجع لقوته وإنما لكونه المتصفح الإفتراضي لشركة مايكروسوفت، كذلك هو معروف بدعمه لمواقع الشركات الكبيرة أو بالأحرى القديمة في مجال الأنترنت وذلك راجع إلى أن البرنامج كان محتكر السوق في بداية الألفية وكان يتلاعب بالمعايير القياسية العالمية مما أجبر مصممي المواقع على بناء مواقعهم لتعمل على هذا البرنامج، لكن عندما تم استحداث متصفحات جديدة تحترم المعايير القياسية ولغة HTML وجدت صعوبة في تصفح هذه المواقع غير المبنية على أسس صحيحة.

طيب لماذا كل هذا العتب على البرنامج؟

البرنامج يتصل بنظام ويندوز اتصالا محكما فأي تعطل للبرنامج يعني تعطل للكومبيوتر و توقفه عن الاستجابة لمدة من الزمن ثم ينتهي بك الأمر إلى فقدان جميع الصفحات التي كنت تعمل عليها وضياع جميع البيانات ويا ويلك إذا كنت تقوم بالتسوق من شبكة الأنترنت وتعطل الإكسبلور مما يجعلك تشتري البضاعة الواحدة 10 مرات. كذلك ارتباطه بالنظام يجعله أبطأ متصفح على وجه الأرض فلا تفتح صفحات الأنترنت حتى تنسى أنك طلبتها أصلا. إضافة الى الثغرات الأمنية التي لا حصر لها. والتي لا يمكنك تنزيل تحديثات لترقيعها بسبب أن الويندوز غير أصلي وعند تحديثها من الموقع فإن أول رسالة تقفز في وجهك هي أن الويندوز مقرصن و عليك بشراء نسخة وإلا ستتعطل نسختك بعد أيام.

لو بقيت أفصل في مساوئ هذا البرنامج سأكمل المقالة وأنا ذو زوجتين وثلاث أولاد لذلك سأتوقف هنا وأكتفي بحادثة طريفة هي أن مطوري فايرفوكس عرضو 500 دولار على من يكتشف ثغرة في الفايرفوكس فخرجت بعض النكت تقول لو أن الاكسبلور قدم هذا العرض لأفلست مايكروسوفت في غضون ثلاث أيام!! (طبعا العرض ليس تحد وإنما محاولة حقيقية لاكتشاف الثغرات وترقيعها للوصول إلى برنامج وعالم أكثر أمنا)

نأتي الآن الى برنامج الثعلب الناري فايرفوكس

من أين أبدأ؟ برنامج ولا في الأحلام بكل بساطة أغلق عينيك وتمن، ستجد كل ما تتمناه في هذا الرنامج

1. فاير فوكس يعمل على جميع المنصات ويندوز ولينكس وماكنتوش.
2. فايرفوكس غير مرتبط بالنظام يعني أي توقف للبرنامج (إن توقف أصلا) فإن النظام سيعمل بكفاءة.
3. بافتراض أن البرنامج تعطل وفقدت الصفحات ستذهب إلى أيقونة البرنامج وتشغلها لتجد نافذة صغيرة تسألك تنبهك إلى أن البرنامج أغلق بطريقة غير صحيحة هل تريد استعادة الجلسة؟ لم تفهمني أكيد أنت لا تصدق. البرنامج بإمكانه أن يعيد لك كل الصفحات التي فقدتها بطريق الخطأ وكأن شيئا لم يحدث.
4. البرنامج يعتمد على الألسنة فبإمكانك أن تفتح مليون صفحة في نافذة واحدة والتنقل بينهم بكل سلاسة دون ملأ سطح المكتب بالنوافذ وتعطيل النظام.
5. في حال قمت بإغلاق لسان بالخطأ بإمكانك استرجاعه عبر الظغط بزر الماوس الأيمن على أحد الألسنة الأخرى والظغط على “تراجع عن غلق لسان”.
6. بإمكانك جعل شريط المفضلة في الأعلى والوصول إلى مفضلتك بكل سهولة.
7. تحديث البرنامج يتم كل أسبوع على الأقل وهو برنامج مفتوح المصدر يعني تحديثات مجانية كل مرة.
8. في حال لم يتوافق أحد المواقع مع الفايرفوكس فيمكنك فتح لسان جديد بمحرك الانترنت اكسبلور داخل نافذة الفايرفوكس.
9. خاصية أدبلوك لصد النوافذ الدعائية تمكنك مواقع اعلانية وصور معينة في مواقع معينة لا تريد مشاهدتها كلما تتصفح الموقع.

هذه البعض المزايا التي يمكنك أن تتمناها في متصفحك الجديد

هل نستعرض المزايا التي لا تتوقع وجودها؟ لتعلم أولا أن البرنامج مفتوح المصدر فالوصول إلى الكود الخاص به سهل جدا وقائمة البريمجات الصغيرة (تسمى إضافات) التي يتم إضافتها إلى البرنامج من قبل مختلف الناس في أنحاء العالم في تزايد مستمر.

لنبدأ بذكر أهم هذه الإضافات وأكثرها استعمالا.

1- إضافة لترجمة الكلمات فقط قم بتضليل الكلمة وستظهر ترجمتها دون الخروج من النافذة ولا عمل أي شيء ويدعم العربية.

إضافة لترجمة صفحات الويب الى عدة لغات من بينها العربية.

إضافة لقراءة خلاصات التدوينات من المتصفح دون أية برامج.

إضاقة لمدير تحميل الملفات يدعم استكمال التحميل.

يمكنك أخذ نسخة احتياطية من البرنامج في حال أردت اعادة تثبيت النظام واسترجاعها بعد اثبيته كما كانت من قبل.

قمت بالتصفح وقابلتك بعض الروابط التي تريد أن تقوم عليها بحركة ما؟ أنت لست مضطرا لإرهاق الفأرة بالظغط. فقط افعل كما في الصورة.

لم يعجبك شكل البرنامج؟ هناك المئات من الثيمات يمكنك تنزيلها واستعمالها ستغير من شكل متصفحك بطرق لا تتخيلها.

قابلتك كلمة في صفحة انترنت ولم تفهمها؟ هل تنسخها وتضعها في محرك بحث جوجل؟ لا تتعب نفسك انظر الصورة.

لو بقيت أفصل في إضافات الفايرفوكس سأنهي المقالة وأنا ذو زوجتين وثلاث أولاد (طبعا غير الزوجتين السابقتين). لن أفصل في الإضافات فهناك مواقع متخصصة لذلك يمكنك الإستفادة منها كما أن عدد الإضافات لا ينتهي فهي بالملايين.

لكن بقيت إضافة أخيرة أريد تفصيلها وهي ميزة البحث من فايرفوكس

مثلا أنت كثير البحث في موقع الشروق اليومي

تدخل إلى موقع الشروق اليومي. (يمكنك كتابة الاسم بالعربية والضغط على Entre)

تظغط على خانة البحث باليمين ثم تظغط على ” اضف كلمة مفتاحية لهذا البحث”ثم في خانة الكلمة الدلالية تكتب شروق

تأتي من الغد وتريد البحث عن كلمة عطلة السبت داخل موقع الشروق كل ما عليك ان تكتب التالي:

Mozilla baru saja merilis Firefox 3.5 RC 2, yang sudah dapat diunduh di situs Firefox. RC 2 ini adalah versi Firefox 3.5 yang memungkinkan pengguna browsing secara lebih cepat dan stabil daripada versi betanya.

Firefox 3.5 memiliki perubahan yang signifikan dalam hal kecepatan akses, yang katanya sampai dua kali lipat dari versi sebelumnya.

Berikut adalah beberapa perubahan yang signifikan:

• Browsing lebih privat

Seperti beberapa browser baru lainnya, RC2 ini menawarkan fitur browsing yang lebih privat. Dalam mode ini Firefox tidak akan menyimpan apapun seperti history, cookies, usernames atau password.

Tidak seperti Incognito mode pada Google Chrome, atau InPrivate pada IE 8, Firefox 3.5 tidak memberi indikasi apapun saat pengguna menjalankan mode ini.

• Firefox bisa ‘lupa’

Jangan salah sangka dulu, lupa yang dimaksud di sini adalah menghapus history, namun tanpa menghilangkan subfoldernya.

• Tab Yang lebih baik

Tab dalam Firefox 3.5 akan bekerja secara lebih baik. Disamping pengguna bisa menggeser tab pada toolbar, mereka juga bisa men-drag n drop tab tersebut pada jendela Firefox yang lain.

Sebenarnya fitur ini tidak terasa spesial. Pasalnya pada Chrome dan Safari, fitur ini sudah ada lebih dulu.

• Mengembalikan ‘tulisan yang hilang’

Firefox 3.5 didesign untuk mengembalikan ‘tulisan yang hilang’. Misalnya saat pengguna tengah menuliskan komentar pada blog ini dan tidak sengaja meng-klik back, maka yang terjadi biasanya tulisan mereka akan hilang karena halaman page berubah ke sesi sebelumnya.

Nah, kini Firefox masih dapat ‘mengingat’ hal ini, jadi saat pengguna melakukan klik-forward lagi, komentar yang ditulis sebelumnya tidak hilang.

Firefox mengklaim bahwa versi 3.5-nya delapan kali lebih cepat dalam mengakses JavaScript dari versi 3.0. Disamping melakukan penambahan fitur serta performansi, Firefox 3.5 terintergerasi dengan Ogg Theora video, yakni sebuah teknologi format web terbaru.

If you are an Internet Explorer user and you get the dreaded Page Cannot be Displayed message even though you are connected to the internet, you can download Firefox using the command prompt.

Troubleshooting a Page Cannot be Displayed error is very tedious and if ping tests pass and all security software disabled, you can safely assume that it is a browser issue. You can do a System Restore to restore your PC to the day Internet Explorer was working. But if System Restore fails, you can download Firefox from the command prompt.

Here are the steps to download Firefox using FTP from the command prompt:

• Click Start, Run, type “cmd” (without the quotes) and click on OK
• In the command prompt window type the text underlined in red

• You can now retrieve the file in the Local Directory that was displayed after typing “lcd” as seen below

• Extract the files in a folder then run firefox.exe

That’s it. You have downloaded Firefox. All you need to do is update it to the most current version by clicking on Help on Fiefox and click on Check for Updates. 95% of the time, when you have internet connection and Internet Explorer gives a Page Cannot be Displayed error, Mozilla Firefox would be the solution.

I’m about to make an embarrassing confession.Back in 2004 , i was under the impression that Internet=IE(Since IE itself had Internet in its name) and vice-versa and there could not be internet connection without IE. How stupid and foolish !
But Mozilla Firefox changed me. The experience was really amazing, different and i was totally convinced to use Firefox and no other browser henceforth. What really stunned me was Firefox’s robustness and extendability. Its Addon concept was so amazing. It provides millions of additional features ,and the user can choose what he wants, without bloating the whole browser. It thus keeps the size of the core browser under 8MB.

Flashback 2007 : Firefox 2 —> When i first started out,i used Firefox 1.0. Then Mozilla updated it to Firefox 2. However i soon realised that the whole experience was beginning to get pretty sluggish.i don’t quite remember the figures correctly now, but roughly when I opened 5 Firefox windows with an average of 4-5 tabs per window, Firefox was consuming a shocking 500+ MB of memory. Much more shocking was that memory usage was spiraling ,  meaning ; whenever i close a tab or a window it is expected that the memory used is reclaimed back, but that was not happening.

Also those many number of windows and tabs being opened are common for an average user. Fortunately i had 1 GB of RAM but i started feeling, “What about others?” And also there was a nice comparison about IE 7, Opera 9 and FireFox 2 (the latest on which i had got these results) then in many newspapers like Times Of India here. Though in terms of features Firefox was leading, IE 7 was a clear winner in terms of resource consumption.i felt this was a major setback to the growing credentials of Firefox, since most of the users back then did not have machines having more than 512 MB of RAM .

i started Googling on how to improve the efficiency of Firefox 2 ’s trying to find if there were some hacks available. i found lots of complaints from users who had found similar results like me. Many of them said because of these resource constraints they wanted to move out of FireFox and try something else though they were great fans of FireFox. Right then i found a post somewhere from one another fan asking all such desperate souls like me to be patient. He said, Mozilla had learnt its  lesson and in their upcoming release, under development Firefox 3, they were concentrating mainly on memory and resource consumption issues. So i went and saw the release schedule desperately to see when I get my hands on it. It was scheduled to be released on September 2007, but due to the new lesson that Mozilla had learnt they had to do lots and lots and lots of work and rework. So they had indefinitely postponed the release date and had removed the schedule totally from their websites.

Firefox 3 : In November 2007, Slashdot reported the release of FireFox 3 Beta 1. It praised Firefox 3 and its team of developers endlessly. Lessons learnt by Mozilla had started showing up at this point. Apparently Mozilla developers borrowed some memory management tricks from the Free BSD operating system for the Windows and Linux versions of Firefox. (They say memory management on Macs already worked pretty well.) The effect was clear. The browser was much less likely to commandeer too many system resources. And Firefox’s developers worked to make sure that add-ons, notorious memory thieves, don’t cause problems either. They rolled in XPCOM cycle collectors that help prevent extensions from locking up RAM and not giving it back. They also distributed tools to third-party developers that would help them build more abstemious add-ons.

Everything looked great. i simply thought of trying the same empirical test that i had done on FireFox 2.The very same test with 5 windows with an average of 3-5 tabs each now did not consume more than 100MB. i was overwhelmed. All the reports and reviews said Mozilla had brought over several thousands of improvements to its previous versions. The reviews said Mozilla had fixed close to 300 Memory leaks!!! Unbelievable. Accessibility features were improved greatly. The address bar really looked great. The “Suggest URL” feature that appears when you start keying in characters was amazing. It had suddenly become extremely intelligent and suggested exactly what i wanted. Buttons, Icons and Bars had also improved greatly in terms of Accessibility.

Molte di queste persone non sanno nemmeno il motivo di tutto questo e spesso non sanno che una navigazione più cauta e un piccolo sforzo per mantenere il proprio computer con una sicurezza minima sono sufficienti per ovviare ai principali attacchi di virus.

Iniziamo quindi questo mini tour sulla sicurezza di base con un punto importante: il browser.

Il browser: questo (s)conosciuto

Il browser è spesso uno stumento tanto utilizzato quanto poco conosciuto da chi naviga per diletto o perfino da chi lavora tutto il giorno con il computer.

Il browser ci consente di esplorare il web, di visualizzare le pagine web, di interagire con informazioni ed altre persone in luoghi e tempi differenti. In alcuni casi è anche utilizzato come componente da alcuni software aziendali (con risultati discutibili).

Molte persone effettuano questa ERRATA associazione di significati: Internet = Internet Explorer.

SBAGLIATO! Internet non è un browser, internet è una “struttura” una infrastruttura molto complessa le cui informazioni sono accessibili tramite vari tipi di browser; tra questi browser vi è il più (forzatamente) conosciuto: Internet Explorer (aka IE o “la-E-azzurra-sul-desktop”).

Ricordate: Internet ≠ Internet Explorer. Ok?

Presa coscienza di questo dettaglio possiamo procedere; sapete che browser state usando adesso?

Se siete utenti Windows prbabilmente (per non dire sicuramente) Internet Explorer.
Non ho nulla di specifico o atavico contro Internet Explorer, si tratta di un browser e parleremo poi delle peculiarità di questo prodotto.

Se siete utenti Linux quasi sicuramente utilizzate Firefox (un’ottima scelta per questo Sistema Operativo), ma ci sono anche altre alternative come Konqueror ed altri derivati/mod di Firefox (ex.: Iceweasel) per non parlare di Opera, ma ne parleremo poi.

Se siete, in fine, utenti Macintosh potreste usare Safari (discreto strumento dalla versione 3).

Ogni piattaforma ha il suo browser preferito o presente al primo utilizzo; qui si potrebbe già aprire un dibattito sulla correttezza dell’inserimento in un OS di un software che non è indispensabile e che potrebbe/dovrebbe essere scelto dall’utente stesso in una delle sue diverse versioni ed incarnazioni, ma non siamo qui nemmeno per questo.

Per cosa state leggendo allora? Per capire come migliorare la propria sicurezza sul web.

A questo punto vi pongo un’altra domanda:

sapete quale è la versione del vostro browser?

Domanda abbanstanza scontata per i più, ma che in alcuni casi ha come risposta una sequenza di punti di sospensione; nessun problema, si può risolvere!
Basta andare sulla sezione Help/Aiuto del vostro browser e cliccare su “About…” o “Informazioni su…”, in questo modo avrete una serie di informazioni sulla versione (in genere evidenziata con “v X.XXXxx”) e su altri dettagli del browser che al momento non ci interessano.

Adesso che abbiamo appurato che tipo di browser e quale versione avete è possibile parlare un po’ di come iniziare a prevenire problemi dalla rete.

Il nocciolo della questione: sempre aggiornati!

La prima cosa è mantenere sempre aggiornato il browser internet; se il browser è aggiornato all’ultima versione siete sicuri che molte falle di sicurezza siano state corrette.

Si tratta di un dettaglio tutt’altro che trascurabile, se usate una versione particolarmente vecchia avrete a che fare con gravi problemi di due tipi:

• problemi di compatiblità con i contenuti; non son solo i software ad evolvere ma anche i siti e il codice con cui sono scritti, un browser non aggiornato va in contro a molti problemi di compatiblità e difficoltà ad interpretare correttamente i contenuti.
• problemi di sicurezza durante la navigazione; quando viene aggiornato un browser non vi sono solo aggiornamenti estetici o arricchimento di funzionalità, si tratta di passare da una tecnologia vecchia a una nuova più adatta ai nuovi standard e più sicura della precedente, vengono corretti bugs (letteralmente errori o falle nel codice del software) che migliorano stabilità e impediscono ai malintenzionati di prendere il controllo del vostro computer.

E come si rimane costantemente aggiornati?

Per mantenere il vostro browser aggiornato ci sono diverse vie, queste le principali:

• controllare periodicamente presso il sito del produttore l’eventuale uscita di una nuova versione; pratica che spesso va in disuso da parte di molti perché richiede un periodico impegno, poiché non ci sono probemi visibili con il browser allora non ci si sente spinti a controllare.
• usare browser con la verifica automatica degli aggiornamenti; un esempio è Firefox, il software si preoccupa di controllare periodicamente la presenza di aggiornamenti di sé stesso ed avvisa il proprietario del computer che è possibile aggiornare ad una versione più recente.
• aggiornamenti automatici integrati nel OS; alcuni sistemi operativi (anche alcune distribuzioni linux) utilizzano un gestore di aggiornamenti globali per i software che siano dello stesso produttore, ad esempio Internet Explorer è un software di Microsoft come lo è Windows, quindi i suoi aggiornamenti passano per lo stesso sistema di aggiornamento di Windows, il risultato è che spesso sono occultati e molti disattivano gli stessi aggiornamenti automatici creando così un pericolo per il sistema.

Il punto alla fine di questo papiro?

In sostanza è sempre consigliabile mantenersi informati sullo stato evolutivo del software che usate.

Facendo un paragone è come aver cura di una automobile: non vi preoccupate solo di metterci benzina, fate anche il tagliando, l’assicurazione… Vi dovete prendere cura del vostro computer come fosse la vostra macchina.

Andreste mai via con una macchina di cui non sapete nemmeno se vanno i freni?
