For Greater Glory (also titled Cristiada) is new drametical movie. Movie is directed by Dean Wright and written by Michael Love.It is true story of the Cristero War (1926-29).The Cristero War serves as the backdrop of this historical drama following a group of devoted Mexican patriots who risk their lives to defeat an oppressive regime, and defend the freedom of future generations. Andy Garcia, Oscar Isaac, Eva Longoria, and Peter O’Toole star It is the true story of how the Catholic Church, through a three-year conflict called the Cristero War, won its freedom from the government of Mexico. Pope Benedict XVI, during his recent visit to Mexico, visited the Cristo Rey Monument that honors the Cristero fighters, who took up arms in 1926 when the Mexican government outlawed and forcibly suppressed the Catholic faith – including the public execution of priests and parishioners by hanging and firing squad. Many were martyred for the freedom the Cristero fighters eventually won in 1929.

For Greater Glory is produced by Arc Entertainment and, in addition to Garcia, features Peter O’Toole (“Lawrence of Arabia,” “Becket”), Bruce Greenwood (“Capote,” “Racing Stripes,” “Star Trek” 2009), Oscar Isaac (“The Nativity Story”), Eva Longoria (“Desperate Housewives”) and Eduardo Verastegui (“Bella”).For Greater Glory chronicles the Cristero War (1926-29), which was touched off by a rebellion against the Mexican government’s attempt to secularize the country. In the film, an impassioned group of men and women make the decision to risk all for family, faith and the very future of their country. General Gorostieta (Garcia) is a retired military man who hesitates in joining the cause but eventually becomes the resistance’s most self-sacrificing leader as he sees the cost of religious persecution on his countrymen.
