Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. 

Lowell is so predictable.  How many times can I write about the same stories about the same douchebags?  This isn’t the Lowell Sun.  I don’t see the usefulness of pointing out the obvious for the sake of having a current post.  This blog isn’t about me.  It’s about what’s right.  There’s a lot wrong here… so now for my 2¢.

The recent elections prove that our city is tired of business as usual, but how much can this new council really make things change?  certainly the council’s decisions and process could become more transparent.  This would be a welcome change.  However, unless the new council does some firing and hiring there isn’t much that can happen.  Addition by subtraction?  Perhaps, but that’s not nearly enough.

I stand by my original thesis that Bernie Lynch is only marginally better than John Cox.  We got rid of one set of inbred troglodytes and traded them for a bunch of numb uninspired “professionals” with neither the aptitude nor creativity necessary to understand the difference between good and great.  In fact, Lowell’s version of great is mediocre at best.  This is the fundamental problem with the redevelopment of Lowell.  A lack of vision, an unwillingness to embrace new ideas, and the inability to distinguish between average and extraordinary. 

Some examples:

LZ Nunn and the marketing of Lowell: Alive. Unique. Inspiring.  Really?  Hiring a company like Single Source Marketing.  A total waste of time and money.  If you have to work so hard to come up with this crap, maybe you should step aside.  Ms. Congeniality.

Adam Baacke and The Hamilton Canal District: Boring, formulaic, uninspired, and a rouse.  Trinity Financial is a political juggernaut who has produced nothing of significance.  ICON architecture, is a regional big box walmart of architecture.  Jim Keefe is a talentless traveling doctor selling miracle tonics to commoners.  Promises of an expanded trolley line, and theater in the development will never be attained, just as he intended. Of course if the NPS wanted to pick up the tab and enhance the area, they would surely take a cut.  Adam Baacke: you’re the luckiest tool in the city.  You caught the wave at just the right time, riding it to mediocrity on the coattails of Keefe.  You’re about as potent as a Ken doll.

Bernie Lynch and the Early Garage: What are you doing?!  Take a good idea to redevelop an area and then totally disregard its intent or the consequences when leasing space to the RMV.  Gridlock.  Remember when the RMV was located downtown and why it moved out?  One step forward, two giant steps back.  Douche.  How do those hairy balls taste?

I’m getting of topic, but another great example of mediocrity are the inbred elitists of the Lowell Plan.  Hey, let’s get a bunch of rich people with no taste in a room together, close the door, and declare the plan for Lowell.  The best part is… THERE IS NO PLAN.  Snobby fucks.

Left in Lowell and Lynne.  Sometimes I feel so sorry for you.  Please don’t subject yourself to Sun articles about energy conservation.  You obviously know very little about the subject and who really gives fuck about what you think anyway?  The Sun has taken shot after shot at you, then you let them take bad pictures in your home.  Seriously.  Get off your self indulgent high horse.  What’s next?  Posts about your cat?

Anyway… this is all obvious.  How often do I have to point out the same shit repeating time and time again? 

I don’t see myself writing much for a while… if at all.  Maybe I’ll catch a plane with Kendall Wallace and go to Florida.  Perhaps some art projects instead.  Peace out.

Way to go State Senator Hairy Balls. Wicked smart Lynchie. On paper I can see how “saving” the RMV in Lowell seems like a good idea. Having an RMV branch in Lowell is convenient for residents and good regionally. The city owns a largely vacant garage earning far less than projections and remains a thorn in the side of those who voted for it.

On the flip side, does this move achieve the long term goals for the downtown or Lowell overall? Hardly.

One of Lowell’s greatest planning blunders is to confuse public spending with downtown viability. The city has a role in the process that is vital and necessary to creating a viable downtown… then they take it too far. In downtown proper, public spending with the NPS Visitor Center, and LeRoy Garage are positive. But then the greedy pigs of Lowell step in under the cover of “helping” Lowell and douche it up. Public and elderly housing is the vast majority of housing in downtown. This population has very little disposal income and do not enhance the downtown. How many people have you seen hanging around on benches and riding around on power scooters in the downtown? Are they going to restaurants and spending? Nope. Are they unpleasant for visitors? Sometimes. Would they be better served in a different area? Yes. Would the downtown be better served if this space had market rate housing? You bet.

Another example is the Bon Marche Building envisioned by the Lowell Plan, Jim (Tower News) Cook, George Berhakis, and Nick Sarris. Jordan Marsh left. OK, I understand that’s bad for downtown. Someone wants to step up and renovate the building, that’s good. Then there’s a sharp left turn. Public money is used to renovate then the building is pretty much given to a couple of cronies for a song. The building can’t be rented out, so who do they find as a tenant… the school committee! Wicked smart! Now for several years the school committee pays an exorbitant amount of rent and lines the pockets of Berhakis and Sarris. They return the favor by supporting politicians friendly to to them and the downward spiral begins. Does anyone remember the deal with the Lowell Senior Center? Same type of bullshit there and we’re still paying for it.

It doesn’t end there though. This year, the school superintendent does the right thing and decides not to renew the lease at the Bon Marche building. Sounds reasonable. Then GOB Bill Taupier becomes the mouthpiece for Berhakis and Sarris and warns of the impending collapse of the downtown if the school committee vacates the Bon Marche. Really? No, it’s just that Berhakis and Sarris believe they are from Lowell and the city owes them. Assholes. Allegedly, promises are made to school committee members that if they stay in the Bon Marche, they will be rewarded. Rita Fatcianti allegedly threatens Chris Scott. Court case and headlines costing Lowell money and bad press. Who gets screwed? We do. The residents, taxpayers, and school children who are having resources wasted.

Getting back to the issue at hand… the RMV. How many cronies and retarded relatives of cronies are employed at the Lowell RMV? Quite a few. Just like the sheriff department employs Rita Mercier, and Regina Fatcianti what favors are owed to State Sen. Steve Panagiotakos, state Reps. Tom Golden, Kevin Murphy and David Nangle for this move? What influence did DPD have with this action? I haven’t seen Adam (Lil B) Baacke holding a meeting to discuss the pros and cons of this move. Given the traffic impact to the neighborhood, was a single study done, were businesses and residents in the area asked? I don’t think so. This was shoved down the throat of Lowell by Senator Hairy Balls. Lynch bent over and accepted because he wants to be Senator Hairy Balls some day. The City Council bent over because they have pals employed at the RMV and there too dumb to recognize that this is a bad move to the viability of downtown.

My prediction… gridlock. Local businesses hurt by a lack of parking. Disgruntled RMV customers leaving as fast as they come. Early Garage parking problems, slowing growth and development in the area. The complete opposite of why the garage was built.

Kesadaran membayar pajak para wakil rakyat baik yang ada daerah maupun di Senayan, patut dipertanyakan. Terungkap, lebih dari 50 persen anggota DPR RI, DPD RI maupun DPRD provinsi dan kabupaten/kota, tidak memiliki Nomor Pokok Wajib Pajak (NPWP).

NPWP, bagaimana rakyat mau sadar pajak, lha wong pimpinannya di dewan saja banyak yang bodong NPWP

“Secara global, memang masih banyak anggota DPR RI, DPD dan DPRD yang tidak punya NPWP. Hal ini sangat disayangkan karena wakil rakyat mestinya  memberikan contoh yang tidak baik bagi masyarakat,” ungkap Direktur Pelayanan, Penyuluhan dan Humas Direktorat Jenderal Pajak, Joko Slamet yang dihubungi via ponsel, Selasa (20/10).

Ditanya berapa total jumlah para wakil rakyat yang bandel itu, Joko mengaku tak hapal jumlahnya. Dia hanya menyebut sangat banyak. “Ya di atas 50 persen lah,” cetusnya sembari menyarankan untuk menanyakan data lengkapnya ke masing-masing Kanwil Pajak.

Meski tidak punya NPWP, para wakil rakyat itu tetap dipotong pajak saat menerima gajinya per 1 Oktober lalu. Sebagai sanksinya, yang tidak punya NPWP dikenakan potongan lebih dari 20 persen. “Ya, kalau dihitung potongannya 18 persen dari gaji,” ucapnya.

Walau gaji tetap dipotong, Joko mengaku ada kelemahan dalam system tersebut. Di mana, potongan tersebut tidak bisa dikontrol apakah benar-benar dimasukkan ke kas negara atau tidak. “Beda kalau ada NPWP, pasti masuk semua ke kas negara. Kalau tidak ada NPWP, mana tahu kita jika tidak disetorkan ke kas negara,” tuturnya.

Ditambahkannya, pihaknya telah melakukan koordinasi dengan masing-masing Kanwil Pajak untuk mendorong wakil rakyat yang tidak ber-NPWP. Hasilnya  mulai kelihatan, di mana sudah banyak yang mendaftarkan diri. “Mengurus NPWP tidak lama kok, cuma tiga jam. Karena itu, anggota DPR, DPD, DPRD secepatnyalah membuat NPWP. Karena bagi yang sengaja tidak membuat NPWP, ada sanksi pidananya,” pungkas Joko. (JPNN)

Nun ist sie endlich beendet – die kleine Kuba –Kriese:

Der historische Freimarkt in Bremen rückt immer näher (17.10.09 bis 01.11.09) und  bis zum Weihnachtsmarkt (ebenfalls Bremen)  ist es auch nicht mehr lang hin. Da muß ich als Münzsäger und Austeller unbedingt meine Vorräte an Rohlingen im Auge behalten. Z.Z. habe ich  ca. 700 verschieden Motive im Angebot. Darunter befinden sich natürlich immer wieder Bestseller , Münzen auf denen  sehr beliebte Motive abgebildet sind. Besonders die Kombination von beliebt aber schwer zu beschaffen ist für mich unangenehm. Dazu gehören u.a. Kubanische Münzen und hier besonders die 3 Peso Münze mit dem Che Guevara drauf. Im Laufe des Jahres bekam ich zunehmend das Gefühl, daß meine Kuba – Connection nicht mehr klappt, ich bekam  einfach keine Rückmeldungen mehr auf meine Anfragen. Das führte zu meiner kleinen Kuba – Kriese.

 Letzte Woche meldete sich nun überaschend und zu meiner großen Freude, mein „Kubabeschaffer.“ Er berichtete, daß er große Verluste bei der Ausfuhr beim Zoll  hinnehmen mußte (Kubanisches Geld darf eigentlich nich aus Kuba ausgeführt werden), daß es ihm aber trotzdem gelungen ist wieder einen guten Schwung 1 und 3 Peso Münzen mitzubringen.

Diese sind nun heute eingetroffen.Der DPD findet sich in der Pampa…….

…… wo ich nun mal wohne , nicht immer gut zurecht, so daß eine Lieferung schon mal ein paar Tage länger dauert. 

Trotzdem nun sind die Münzen hier und  hoffentlich genug Vorrat für die bevorstehenden Märkte . Ein wenig sägen muß ich natürlich noch…….

Im letzten Jahr zur gleichen Zeit hatte ich schon einige 3-Peso Münzen ausgesägt:

Before I began any of my work, my first task was to create a new blog to record all of my thought and actions during the duration of the project. Blogging was completely new to me, so once I had created my blog, I spent some time personalising it and going through the site to understand how it worked.

Once this step was completed, it was time to begin with the real work. My next task was to produce a DPD for my project.

I began this by identifying the three types of objectives:

• Project Objectives
• Research Objectives
• Learning Objectives

To understand more about what I needed to include in each of these areas, I used the internet to research them in turn.

I found the following web page helpful for learning about writing learning objectives. It talked about using the acronym S—K—A to frame learning objectives. S-K-A stands for: Skills - Knowledge - Attitudes. It was useful because it explained what each of them meant and showed examples of learning objectives which I was able to understand and use the knowledge I’d learnt to create ones for my own project.

At the same time as compelting the  DPD, I also completed some research into my project. So far I have only used the internet to gather some research, but in the near future I shall be using other resoures such as books and journals. I have created a small folder on my web browser which I will use to record any information through out the project which I may find beneficial.

Some of the main topics I have briefly researched so far are:

• What are API’s
• What are tag clouds, and how are they used.
• PHP Librarys

Next Task(s):

• After Practical on Friday, produce a final copy of the PD.
• Make sure it is handed in on time.
• Continue with the project research and combine the work into one folder.
• Print out any relevant documents if needed.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Anggaran untuk upacara pelantikan dan pengucapan sumpah atau janji anggota DPR, DPD, dan DPRD terlalu mahal. Biaya pelantikan itu dianggarkan oleh Komisi Pemilihan Umum, Sekretariat Jenderal DPR, Setjen DPD, dan Setjen DPRD.

Indonesia Budget Centre (IBC) yang mengolah data dari Rencana Kerja dan Anggaran (RKA) Komisi Pemilihan Umum dan Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Tahun 2009 menyebutkan, total anggaran pelantikan anggota DPR, DPD, DPRD provinsi, dan DPRD kabupaten/kota sebesar Rp 75,61 miliar. Anggaran sebesar itu terbagi dari RKA KPU sebesar Rp 1,2 miliar, KPU provinsi Rp 4,95 miliar, KPU kabupaten/kota Rp 35,32 miliar, Setjen DPR Rp 28,50 miliar, dan Setjen DPD Rp 5,63 miliar.

Peneliti senior IBC, Roy Salam, Minggu (6/9), mengatakan, anggaran pelantikan anggota DPR, DPD, dan DPRD seharusnya hanya ada di KPU jika memang pelantikan dan pengucapan sumpah janji itu termasuk tahapan pemilu. Dalam Undang-Undang Nomor 10 Tahun 2008 tentang Pemilu Anggota DPR, DPD, dan DPRD, pelantikan dan pengucapan sumpah janji anggota DPR, DPD, dan DPRD merupakan tahap pemilu yang terakhir. KPU menjadwalkan pelantikan dan pengucapan sumpah janji pada 1 Oktober 2009.

“Angka Rp 75,61 miliar itu luar biasa besar. Anggaran itu belum termasuk biaya pelantikan yang dianggarkan pemerintah daerah melalui pos Sekretaris Dewan DPRD provinsi dan Setwan DPRD kabupaten/kota. Banyak anggaran yang tumpang tindih,” kata Roy.

Roy mengatakan, KPU juga harus transparan apabila semua anggaran pelantikan anggota DPR dan DPD ada di pos KPU. Data dari IBC menunjukkan, anggaran pelantikan dan pengucapan sumpah janji anggota DPR dan DPD yang ada di KPU sebesar Rp 1,2 miliar, yang terdiri dari honorarium tim/kelompok kerja Rp 815 juta, biaya perjalanan pendataan anggota DPR terpilih Rp 237 juta, serta barang dan jasa Rp 147,6 juta. ”Mengapa KPU harus menganggarkan biaya perjalanan pendataan anggota DPR terpilih? Itu, kan, bisa dikerjakan KPU daerah,” kata Roy.

Roy menduga ada anggaran lain yang tidak terdeteksi. ”Anggaran itu hanya untuk acara seremonial, yaitu pelantikan dan pengucapan sumpah janji. Sebelumnya, pasti ada proses persiapan pelantikan, seperti orientasi calon anggota DPR. Nah, ini tidak terlihat,” ujarnya.

Tanggung jawab KPU
Sebelumnya, anggota KPU, Andi Nurpati Baharuddin, mengatakan, setelah KPU menetapkan dan mengumumkan calon anggota DPR dan DPD terpilih, KPU akan mempersiapkan pelantikan dan pengucapan sumpah janji. KPU berharap, calon anggota DPR dan DPD yang akan dilantik berada di Jakarta pada akhir September untuk mengikuti orientasi pelantikan.

”Orientasi pelantikan dan pengucapan sumpah janji itu tanggung jawab KPU. Tidak mudah mengatur 560 anggota DPR dan 132 anggota DPD. Mudah-mudahan bisa dilakukan tanggal 24 September sampai 1 Oktober,” kata Andi.

Jakarta – Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU) menyiapkan anggaran senilai hampir Rp 3,4 miliar untuk pelantikan anggota DPR, DPD dan MPR periode 2009-2014. Anggaran tersebut terbagi dalam empat pos pengadaan lelang.

Berdasarkan informasi yang dirilis situs KPU, keempat pos pengadaan lelang itu adalah, pertama, pengadaan jasa penyediaan akomodasi dan konsumsi (hotel) sebesar Rp 2.874.300.000. Pemenangnya adalah PT Laksmindo Bahtera yang beralamat di Hotel Kartika Chandra, Office Tower Suite 711, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jakarta.

Kedua, pengadaan jasa penyediaan jas, jaket, baju batik dan hem sebesar Rp 149.938.000. Pemenang lelang ini adalah CV Gavi Mitra Mandiri yang beralamat di Villa Nusa Indah J 1/2 RT.03/14 Bojongkulur Gunung Putri, Bogor.

Ketiga, pengadaan jasa penyediaan kendaraan bus AC dan ambulans sebesar Rp 251.900.000. Pemenang lelang ini CV Pondasi Jaya beralamat di Jl Kayu Jati II No 15 Jakarta.

Keempat, pengadaan jasa penyediaan pengadaan jasa penyediaan tas sebesar Rp 115.500.000. Pemenang lelang ini CV Indra Pratama yang beralamat di Jl H Zein Sarmili No 32 Rambutan, Jakarta Timur.
