Former Doctor Pleads Guilty To Molesting 2 Students

BUTLER (AP) — A former doctor from Butler County who is already serving six to 15 years in prison for sexually abusing a teen boy from 1989 to 1995 while working as a Boy Scout leader has now pleaded guilty to molesting two students at a reform school where he was a consulting physician.

David Evanko, 59, pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced to 5½ to 14½ years in prison — which will run concurrent to his previous sentence — for the Summit Academy abuse cases.

Evanko was arrested in 2009 after two brothers, now in their 30s, alleged they were molested when Evanko was a Scout leader.

Charges involving one of those boys were dismissed due to the statute of limitations.

That investigation led to allegations by the reform school students, who were abused in 2009.

Butler Co. Doctor Found Guilty

BUTLER (KDKA) — A doctor from Butler County accused of sexually assaulting teenage boys was found guilty on two counts.

Dr. David Evanko faced charges of statutory rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

On April 10th, the first alleged victim testified that he was assaulted back in 1993 when he was a 13-year-old Boy Scout.

The man testified that Evanko, a former Boy Scout leader, would give him alcohol. Once he got drunk, he claims they would play truth or dare which always resulted in him taking his pants off before Dr. Evanko allegedly performed a sex act.

Dr. Evanko is slated to be sentenced May 20th.

Trial Begins For Doctor Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Boys

BUTLER (KDKA) — The trial for a Butler County doctor accused of sexually assaulting teenage boys began Tuesday morning.

Dr. David Evanko, of Butler, is facing charges in two separate cases. One is from more than 20 years ago when he was a Boy Scout leader, while the other is from three years ago.

According to police, Evanko assaulted two boys from a juvenile detention facility when they were brought to his office for treatment.

The first alleged victim to testify against Evanko was a man who is now in his early 30’s. He told the judge that in 1993 when he was a 13-year-old Boy Scout, he spent the night at Evanko’s house many times and also traveled with him.

Stan Levenson is Dr. Evanko’s attorney.

“We will put on testimony that we hope will convince the judge that there was no sexual misconduct on Dr. Evanko’s part and we will ask the judge to find him not guilty,” he said.

A judge from Erie County is presiding over the non-jury trial and the case is being prosecuted by the Attorney General’s office. All Butler County judges recused themselves from cases involving Evanko, a family doctor.

“He’s a very well-respected physician,” Levenson said. “We will have character witness testimony addressing his character and reputation in the community.”

Dr. Evanko is charged with statutory rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. The trial is expected to last about three days.
