Yesterday I blogged about David Hasselhoff and if he didn’t sort himself out, he would end up having

Yesterday I blogged about David Hasselhoff and if he didn’t sort himself out, he would end up having the same fate as my former neighbor, the now deceased actor Dennis Cole, who sadly died a cold and lonely death in a Florida ER after taking drugs and alcohol. I said in my blog that I hoped Cedars Sinai Medical Center would put David Hasselhoff under a 5150 Psych hold and thank goodness my prayers were answered! I am thrilled about that.

I really thought he might be a severe danger to himself as well as to others especially if he got it in his head that he was fit enough to drive. Thank goodness the staff of Cedars saw fit to put him under observation for his own good. This was the exact same hold that Britney was put under when she had her issues and it was thought she might be harmful to herself. Look how wonderfully Britney Sears has done. I pray that David will do just as well.

MESSAGE TO THOSE WHO THINK MEDIA PSYCHOLOGISTS ARE DIAGNOSING DAVID HASSLEHOFF
.
When Britney Spears was having her issues, two years ago an anonymous blogger called “dissent” on a website called pogowasright.org wrote what I thought was an absolutely ridiculous blog, accusing me of diagnosing Britney Spears and making other silly and false allegations. As a media psychologist to which all of my fellow media psychologists can attest, we give our opinions and explore all possibilities that could have been ailing a particular newsmaker.

We report and educate about what we see based on our experience in these matters. It is just our opinion. It’s exactly what political pundits do, except they do it with politics. Just as the political pundits are not in the White House or in the meetings where political negotiations are taking place, likewise, we media psychologists like Dr. Phil or Dr. Laura and Dr. Drew or a host of others, do not see the patient up close and personal and share their diagnoses. That would be against the law an din violation of their HIPPA rights. So we can only speculate as to the possibilities, much like legal commentators do in the media with profile criminal cases.

I wanted to know who could make such a ridiculous and false allegations and explain the situation intelligently. But the person was “anonymous,” so there was no one with whom I could communicate. I wondered what kind of “axe this person had to grind”. Was it towards media psychologists in general or was it towards me personally, or both? I found out that it was indeed both.

USING BODY LANGUAGE ANALYSIS SKILLS TO UNCOVER “ANONYMOUS BLOGGER” TOURETTE’S PSYCHOLOGIST, LESLIE E. PACKER

So in researching all her blogs, taking the information she supplied by her own words I was able to uncover the identity of this anonymous blogger- Leslie E. Packer was ‘dissent” of www.pogowasright.org She was not a media psychologist like myself, but rather a Tourette’s Syndrome Psychologist with what I believed was a definite “axe to grind” against media psychologists (her blogs indicated she was not a fan) and a definite “axe to grind” against me. This became clearer to me especially after reading one of her later blogs. It looked like she had no doubt heard or had seen me on a popular television show and dissed my work in the area of “body language.” Little did she realize that it was due to my Body Language Analysis skills (skills used by enforcement and by the FBI) that I was able to uncover her identity. So to you- Leslie E. Packer, “dissent” and Tourette Psychologist or anyone else who is like minded, “don’t get your panties in a bunch” as the urban dictionary would say. I am NOT diagnosing David Hasslehoff. .

NOW DAVID FINALLY HAS A CHANCE FOR RECOVERY!

According to his own words, David Hasselhoff has apparently been battling alcoholism for years. He has been hospitalized at least five times with alcohol poisoning. He returned from Canada on Wednesday and saw a doctor. He had been drinking before that and also resumed drinking afterward. His several-day booze bender resulted in a seizure and transport to the hospital via ambulance Friday. www. RadarOnline.com reported that people close to him want to place him in a lock-down rehab facility to treat his alcoholism.

NO MORE ENABLING!

I agree with David’s family members who have his best interest at heart. Enough of the cover ups. Enough of the enabling. Enough with the excuses. No one is buying it anymore. PR spinners are not doing you any favors, David. What Albert did by put a newspaper up in the fanning it in front of the TV camera so the press wouldn’t get a good look at you was not helping you. We saw your sad behavior anyway. We all saw how out of it you were as you got into the limo when you returned from Canada. It was so sad to see.

Alcoholism and getting help for it is nothing to be ashamed of. Millions of people suffer from this disease and have been helped throughout the years. The first step is to admit you have a problem and that you have the disease. As soon as you that you are on your road to recovery. Maybe this is the best thing that could have happened to you. When according to reports things got so severe that you were so disoriented that you didn’t recognize people you knew, it is time to make a commitment and get the help you so desperately need. That will be the BEST Christmas gift you can ever give yourself and those whom you love.

THE BEST XMAS GIFT DAVID COULD GIVE

Also David, remember that Hollywood loves a comeback and a great success story. So we will all welcome you back with open arms. The public will embrace you even more as you will have shown your strength in admitting you have a problem. You will also have inspired so many others that may be in a similar situation.

I know you would love to inspire others just by what I have observed about you on America’s Got Talent. I have been very impressed by your compassion towards others on the show. Now show yourself the same compassion and get onto a program and stick with it. Too many people out there love you. You cannot keep putting the burden of your sickness on your daughters and not get help. You owe it to your daughters, to yourself and to your millions of fans. I know that would be the best Christmas present that you could give everyone. www.drlillianglass.com

I don’t watch Dr. Phil anymore. Not because his tell-it-like-it-is style is too much – have you met my husband? Except my husband adds: The world would be a better place if you listened to me. (That’s a royal ‘you’.)

No, I broke it off with Dr. Phil when Miss Q turned one-and-a-half; I also dumped Young and the Restless, around that time too. Funny how one day TV can be on, while your toddler plays, and the next, she’s mesmerized by a fight scene.

It hasn’t been a smooth break, I still check in on my shows, just to see what they’re up to. It’s handy that Miss Q’s rest-time coincides with certain programming.

Now that Miss S is on the scene, I haven’t been afforded such luxuries, as I had on my mat-leave with Miss Q. Miss S doesn’t get to hang on the couch with me all day, watching daytime television. She isn’t programmed, like her sister, to pick up on the theme music for Y&R or dance with Ellen.

Okay, there is, possibly, the argument that Miss S is hugely benefiting from our daytime, TV-free life. Music is better for the brain.

But, I miss the long uninterrupted snuggles, Miss Q and I had. How lovely it was to curl on the couch together while she nursed and fell asleep. Sure, this got a little tedious after November and May sweeps, when shows either went into re-runs or off the air, but we got over it, found something quirky to watch.

Not to say Miss Q and I spent our entire year off tied to the box. There were still parks to explore and neighborhoods to walk around. My husband and I put our money into a quality stroller for that purpose; and let me tell you it was (is) worth the 35-or-so-Elizabeth’s we sunk into it.

Miss S and I get our snuggle time, but it’s always broken: during quiet time, Miss Q, without fail, has to go pee the moment Miss S and I settle on the couch with Oprah; not because she’s stalling, or jealous, she just genuinely has to go.

Honestly, the hardest part of being a newly minted mum of two is dividing my time. Both girls need me 24/7, in different ways. As much as I love my baby snuggle time, I make sure Miss Q gets alone time with me. It’s important time for both of us. And, of course, while I type that sentence, I feel like I need to also type: Miss S’s and my time is just as important, even though that was a given. Ahh, the pangs of mother guilt: the need to make life equal.

But the thing is, as much as I’d like my daughter’s life experiences to be the same, they already aren’t. One spent the first year of her life watching daytime television and probably thought Victor Newman was her father, while the other doesn’t have a clue who he is, but is entertained by her big sister for hours.

Today Miss Q and I went grocery shopping while Daddy stayed home watching football with Miss S.

Naturally, we didn’t just go to the grocery store, we hit the pet store to check on the cats. Miss Q loves cats. We’d probably have one by now, but her daddy’s allergic.

This factoid doesn’t deter Miss Q. She has it all planned out; “We can keep it in a box downstairs, Mama. Daddy would never know.” Ah, she is her mother’s child.

At the grocery store, I noticed a slight change in her demeanor, so I spoiled her with a free cookie from the bakery. She wasn’t overly excited to get it; even though this was the first time in her life she’d received a cookie while shopping.

When we got to the cracker aisle, with half our shopping completed, the cookie fell and she started to cry. This is HIGHLY unusual for Miss Q. She does not cry easily. This cry in the grocery store came complete with snot and complaints of a sore stomach.

As I stood in the middle of the aisle with a sad, possibly sick child, and a cart full of groceries, a flash of a story I heard on Dr. Phil came to me. I don’t know why, it just did. Anyhow: when Robin, Dr. Phil’s wife, was shopping with her two sons way back when, they started frapping out, so she marched them out of the store, leaving the cart where it stood, full of groceries.

I remember thinking, when I heard that story two things: one, I hope that happens to me; and two, that’s a really strong mum who can just walk away from a full grocery cart – I’d be trying to put my purchases back on the shelves or sitting at home feeling guilty for the melting ice cream and warming meat mid-aisle.

Miss Q wasn’t frapping in a tantrum sort of way, she was sobbing with fat tears streaming down her flushed cheeks. So I stopped the shopping and beetled to an empty till. Thankfully, not having to re-enact Robin’s story.

Never have I cursed the slow drivers on the highway, as I had today, cruising at 79 on the dot, with a sobbing child in the back seat trying to wiggle out of her restraints because her stomach hurt. Just as I was thinking I was going to have to send the white convertible Golf a cleaning bill for Miss Q’s car-seat cover, the driver changed lanes.

The rest is anti-climatic. Miss Q calmed down once inside our house. She told her dad that she was upset because she had to pee. (We find that a little odd, but okay.) I read her a chapter of Return to the Hundred Acre Wood, while Miss S slept in my arms.

No matter how we feel, think, or believe, there is unity in our diversity. We just have to find tha

No matter how we feel, think, or believe, there is unity in our diversity. We just have to find that one thing that bonds us together. Finding that one thing we all have in common is the first step to solving any problem. No matter how far apart we are in our feelings, thinking or beliefs, finding that common ground enables us to come together and find a solution that we all can live with. This is true in our personal lives as well as in politics.

Some years back I took classes in Family and Divorce Mediation. I was planning on hanging out my shingle and helping people find solutions to their obstacles. Learning and doing are not the same thing and I found it difficult to remain unbiased during the process. My hat is off to those who can do it without having the training and skills of a lawyer.

What I learned, however, has not left me and it has served me well at times. Mediation is not a win/lose process. The mediator must find common ground that will enable the parties to eventually come to some agreement that they can both live with. The mediator must take two parties who are angry, hurt, and suffering and guide them gently to a compromise. This is not easy.

Having said this, I feel that the same process can be applied to almost any situation. I have heard about neighbors who don’t get along. This is so sad, since both have to live where they do and moving is sometimes not possible. A lot of the time we are “right fighters”, as I’ve heard Dr. Phil say time and time again. We decided that we have to be right and we will do anything to prove it. In order to do that we have to go to any length to either prove the other person wrong or sway them around to our point of view. Either way, the problems are bound to escalate.

Why am I bringing this up? Every problem starts somewhere. If we can go back to that first moment and understand the dynamics of the problem from the very first moment, we have a chance of stopping the problem before it becomes unfixable.

Both people often feel like victims. At that point the problem solving goes out the window. It takes two to fight. Therefore, there are two victims and two perpetrators. No one is at fault all the time. Each person usually takes turns by making very bad choices which take the disagreement to a new level.

We want to feel vindicated. We want our suffering to be acknowledged. We want it to stop. But what are we willing to do to be part of the solution? If we are not part of the solution then we are part of the problem. These misunderstandings are usually created when someone feels disrespected, snubbed, their personal property damaged, or their privacy and autonomy in jeopardy.

So, what steps can we all take to start mending fences? If you feel your rights have been trampled on in some way, what do you do first?

Step #1 Purchase a journal. Start documenting those things that you find offensive. Don’t just write down what happened, include details of how it made you feel and any expense that was incurred as a result. Try to explain in as much detail as you can what you are objecting to. Make it as precise as possible. If you can’t explain it so you understand it, no one else will understand it and communication is important. Make sure you write down dates, names, places, and everything you can think of. Were there any witnesses?

Step #2 Sit down and go over your journal entries regularly. Try to figure out why you are so angry. Is it something from your past that you are reacting to in the present or is it a real problem that needs to be addressed. Try to find the root of the problem and why you may be reacting so badly to the situation. Sometimes it is simply that the other person is not taking responsibility for their actions or the actions of friends or family members, not to mention pets. Knowing these things helps clarify it. But do your homework before you snap.

Step #3 If this is an ongoing situation that can’t be ignored, it is time to address your concerns to the other person. Call and set up a time when both of you can sit down in a neutral place like a restaurant or other public place to discuss it. It might be wise to bring along a friend and urge the other person to do the same. Be nice about it. Coming to the table angry will not serve your cause.

Step #4 Write down what you want to say. Be prepared. Ask the person to let you say what you need to say and then she can have her turn uninterrupted. Explain that you want to find a solution to the problem that you both will be happy with. Then be respectful when she speaks and try to understand her point of view as well. This is the point when a solution is most likely to be found. Make sure you look at how she sees the problem from her perspective and try to find some common ground to work from. Allow her to be part of the solution and do not dictate the solution. There are two sides to every story. Ask questions about what is going on in their life as if they are your best friend. Share with them those things that they might need to know in order to understand your situation. Are you a day sleeper? Have you had a recent illness? Have you been going through some tough times and might be a little sensitive right now? Anything that you can share could be potentially helpful. anything they share can be something to ponder.

Step #5 Assure the other person that they have been heard and impress upon them that you will take what you have heard home and think on it. Then, really think on it in earnest. Find the common ground. Try to put yourself in their place. Offer your help in some way that may take a burden from their shoulders or offer a solution they may not have thought of. But don’t back them into a wall. They will come out fighting and that is not what you want.

Everyone’s situation is unique. But, there will also be commonalities that you can use as a spring board. What ever you do, have compassion and come at the problem from the point of view that the person may not even be aware there is a problem. It probably is not a deliberate act against you. And, there might be a good explanation that you can understand or you might lite on a solution that you can do to solve the problem for yourself. I have always believed that good fences make for good neighbors. It may be as simple as a good fence. Don’t resent the other person for making this problem for you. Your fence might just ease her burden too.

I grew up a bit of a tomboy. I’ve always lacked some very typical “girly” genes. M

I grew up a bit of a tomboy. I’ve always lacked some very typical “girly” genes. Much to my daughter’s chagrin I’m not much into jewelry and lots of make-up. I don’t like to talk long on the phone. I’m soooo like a guy when it comes to talking (or not talking, as the case may be) about my feelings or arguing or even just communicating in a relationship. (I know, nothing to be proud of. I’m working on it.) I played softball but wanted to play baseball as a kid. I love camping out under the stars. I wore garter snakes around my wrists much to the delight of the boys in the neighborhood. And I’ve never liked to shop. Ever.

Still don’t. So when my 17 yr. old daughter asked if we could shop on Black Friday I laughed. Out loud. When she told me she was serious, I eyed her suspiciously.

“Only if we go at 5am,” I said, confident that she would back down immediately. You see, I’m a morning person. She’s a night person. A very late night person. She sleeps ’till noon every chance she gets. I knew I was safe.

“Ok!” she said enthusiastically.

Huh? What the…? How did that happen? I then tried to weasel out of it.

“Seriously? You’ll get up at 4:30? I don’t think so. Besides, I don’t think the stores you’ll want to shop even open up that early.”

Remember? I don’t like to shop. So in my forty-something years I’ve never shopped on Black Friday. I’ve avoided it like the plague. I thought only large discount stores and appliance stores were open at that un-godly hour the day after Thanksgiving.

“No, I already checked,” she said, “The mall opens at 5am.”

Rats. I was stymied. I had no idea where to go from there to get out of it.

“Ok…….” I said, voice trailing. I still had 5 more days to figure out how to get out of it. Surely, something would come to me.

But Thanksgiving Day arrived and I still didn’t have a way out. And she was so excited. Sharing this story with my sister on the phone she chastised my lack of enthusiasm.

“You set that alarm for 4:30am and enjoy yourselves. You’re creating memories,” she said, “Just don’t forget your helmet and elbow pads.”

Yikes. That got me. Especially since my stomach sinks every time my daughter receives a letter from a college trying to recruit her. I’m trying to cherish every moment she wants to spend with me. What was my problem?

So on Friday morning, we woke up before the crack of dawn and set out. We drove past our local Wal-Mart at 5:15am. Every, and I mean EVERY parking spot was taken. People were parking on the grass, off the curb. I’ve never seen it so busy. What was I getting myself into?

We arrived at the mall by 5:30am. It was busy but not unbearable. We shopped. We laughed. We waited in lines. I had to go check out the deals at the Disney Store (of course) and she reluctantly tagged along. The line was about 10 people deep and she rolled her eyes. “This is just like waiting in line for the rides, ” she groaned. But when we went to Hollister (her favorite store) the line for the cash register winded, weaved and wove through the store. “This must be SOME roller coaster!” I said excitedly. She pretended not to know me.

We chatted on the way to other stores. We chatted over coffee. We chatted in lines. We chatted in the car on the way to lunch. We observed people and talked about that. She shared with me things that were going on with school and with her friends. We reminisced. Mostly light things but some heavy things came up, too. And when the heavy things surfaced it slipped into our conversation easy, calm. I was able to share things I’ve always wanted to say – things every parent should say. She shared with me her feelings with little awkwardness. (She is a teenager, after all.)

It was an amazing day.

I remember hearing Dr. Phil impart his wisdom on teenagers once. He said (and I’m paraphrasing here) that if you want your kids to talk to you about the big things then you’d better listen to the little things. In theory, I wholeheartedly agreed. But then, I was able to see it in motion.

I’ve always felt I was a pretty involved parent. But days like this remind me I can always do more. Listening to those little things – how many sisters we could tell were shopping together, who her friends were dating, the latest fashion must-haves, how awful school lunches were – turned into conversations and snippets of some really big things. (And since I’d like to preserve some of her privacy I’m just going to let you guess what those were.) I heard her thoughts. She heard mine. It was amazing conversation with a little shopping thrown in. We enjoyed ourselves so much we’ve decided to make it a yearly tradition.

I saved a good bit of money on Black Friday. I lost a little sleep. Looking back, it was a simple gesture that became grand. And I can’t believe I tried to get out of it. What a shame that would have been.

Wednesday. The first day of the week without students. I was happy to finally be on some sort of v

Wednesday. The first day of the week without students. I was happy to finally be on some sort of vacation. And I’ll admit that I will treat it as such. I got up this morning around nine o’clock or so and watched “Dr. Phil” on T.V. and then decided to watch “Frasier” with Heather for a little bit. We did talk about some good news that we found out yesterday. We have a debt consolidation company that is going to help us with our predicament with my wage garnishment. They are going to cover my loan with Citi Financial, our student loans and a few other loans all in one payment that will cost less than my wage is getting garnished for. That will help IMMENSLY! One discussion with a lawyer proved to be worth it’s weight in gold. As a matter of fact, according to the company, my wage garnishment should come off in my next paycheck. It will also help to keep my tax return from getting taken in January, if I have one that is. The way Obama is spending my money, I probably won’t have one!

I decided that although I’m not a huge fan of the “Twilight” series, my daughter is and I thought it was only fair to take her to go see “Full Moon”. So, we left before we ate lunch and went there and saw an eleven a.m. showing of the movie. We got home and I started to play “Call of Duty 4” online for about two hours before walking away because I didn’t want to get too addicted. Which I pretty much am anyway so I decided to get to work on my clone trooper helmet. I have so much to do on that helmet, it’s not even funny! I started to bondo some more seams and worked on trying to finally seal in the helmet. I got most of the seams done today. Hopefully, I will be able to get a majority of it done by the end of the weekend. My goal is to have it done by the time Christmas vacation is over and then save my pennies and get some clone armor and start to put the whole thing together. I got done working on the helmet and then decided to play some more of “Call of Duty 4”. After a while, Heather told me that the mechanic that was going to help us with the car wanted the car. So we raced out to Sanitaria Springs and dropped the car off with the mechanic. On our way back to the house, he let us know that he needed to replace the axles on the car and that would run us another two-hundred dollars or so. So, we told him to do it and reached deeper into our pockets. But, it was still cheaper to do it with this guy than deal with a shop.

We got home and ate some late dinner and then watched “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” and “The Office” and then had to go back out and pick up the car. It sounds and seems to run much better than it did before. Definetly no squeaking noises coming out of the car when I stop now. We came home and I then played “Call of Duty 4” for about another half hour and then watched our usual TV shows for the night including “Old Christine”, “Garry Unmarried”, “Glee”, and “CSI NY” and then went to bed.

Okay, so let’s talk about Part 2 of Chapter 19 of “Star Wars – Medstar I: Battle Surgeons, A Clone Wars Novel” by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry…..Chapter 19 (Part 2): As Barriss headed back to the medical ward, she passed by a trooper that was starring at a wall and she had treated him earlier so she asked CT nine-one-four why he was here. He was in perfect health and had been discharged. The trooper explained that one of his mates, trooper CT nine-one-five was still in surgery. Jos then cut in and said that trooper didn’t make it. The soldier said that loss of his fellow trooper was unfortunate, but Barriss felt that the trooper felt a large loss and a huge amount of grief. But Jos sensed something was wrong and asked CT-914 if he knew the soldier. 914 said he thought of him as a brother, but Jos pointed out that they were all brothers and the clone thanked the doctor for his work and left. Jos looked at Barriss and said if he did not know better he would’ve thought that trooper was upset. Barriss asked Jos if he would be upset with losing a brother. But Jos said that those connections are taken out with the clone breeding. Barriss said that they may be cloned but they are still living, breathing beings that have the ability to think and feel. She told Jos that th clone was upset and that although they were bred for war, even Jos felt that CT nine-one-four was grieving ove the loss of a brother. She said that it obviously never occured to him and that doctors have horrible bedside manner and Jos stood there stumped at what he heard. That’s when Barriss realized that she had the aide of The Force and she apologized, but Jos gave a fake smile and left……

It’s funny. Even while walking tonight, which I really enjoy, I found myself reminding myselfk why I am doing this. I got on the scale today at work (which I admit, I do way too often) and I hadnt made any progress in my weight loss. It was a bit discouraging; hence, the peep talk tonight to myself during the walk. This is what I have to remind myself:

It’s impossible to make better choices each day and exercise without having SOME progress.

The progress is probably muscle gain which is replacing my fat. (or I hope.)

Even if I dont ever loose another pound with my current regime, at least I am not gaining anymore weight, which is good too.

With those reminders to myself during my walk, I am happy to report some positive changes in my behaviour. I am not only making better choices during the day, but I am starting to figure out what my triggers are for eating when I am clearly not hungry.

This week, it was boredom. I am recognizing that when I get bored, I get surges of energy in me that is telling me to DO something. I used to get up and pace around and end up at the refridgerator. Eating gives you something to eat and can easily calm that anxious feeling. Yes, I was literaly FEEDING my anxiety. When you are over full, you tend to sit back and relax. Now, I go for a walk and am feeding it exercise. Or at least, I am trying to make it a habit. I am scared to slide back into my old habits, which is why I am blogging. When I find myself it a rut, I want to read over these posts and hopefully find all the answers and wisdoms I have come to learn.

It’s so hard to take your own advise, maybe if I forget, it will be like having a shrink tell me personally. Maybe my blog should be called Dr. Phil?

- Helen Keller

We want to feel safe, and it’s good and healthy for us to have relationships and home space in which we do. But, it can be limiting to require a perfect sense of security everywhere we go. Life is uncertain, and much of what we get to do with our lives is make decisions about how to best manage risks-not avoid them! Each day we get out of bed, we begin our interaction with risk. Once we accept that complete security is a myth, we can face life more honestly, viewing it as an unpredictable adventure. Instead of trying to control our lives, we can explore them!

“he needed to find himself,” we say about someonewho went through the proverbial midlife crisis. What is there to find? We carry our turest self with us wherever we go. Traveling and tring new things can spark our creativity and help us understand ourselves better, but we don’t need to go anywhere to start the daily work of creating a healthy self.
More productive than any drastic lifestyle change or spontaneous purchaase, acts of listening are how we begin the process of creating ourselves. Then we can build, block-by-block the self we crave!

It’s something nice girls don’t talk about. It’s more than a little taboo, and it

It’s something nice girls don’t talk about. It’s more than a little taboo, and it’s not money, politics or sex: it’s men. Funny, after a couple of decades of feminism, how our new shame is men. The desire to meet them. The desire to never meet another one as long as we live. Our crushing need for them, and our even greater need to conduct our lives without them. Men are complicated. Men are difficult. Men are trouble.

And right now, our obsession with men is big business.

He’s Just Not That Into You had humble beginnings as a bookstore self-help title, tucked forgotten between Anne Hooper’s books on sexuality and Dr. Phil McGraw’s latest half-baked offerings. Now, I’ve worked in a bookstore for four years, and other than Harry Potter, there’s nothing we’d rather not watch people buy then dating advice books. There is a real social stigma to picking up one of those books and actually paying money to have someone tell you how to make another person love you. It’s just kind of icky, and we’d rather avoid it. Very little eye-contact is made throughout the transaction, and for the most part we talk about the weather as the customer tries to discretely leave the store.

Thus, we were understandably shocked when He’s Just Not That Into You became a sensation, quickly out-selling the good Dr. Phil and the new Oprah’s pick combined. Then, that same little book did something that no dating advice book had ever managed: spawned a feature film, produced in Hollywood, with a large audience chomping at the bit to get into theatres.

Excuse me. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

*	*	*	*	*

Lots of neat things happened in the sixties, but none of them quite so neat – for women at least – as feminism. Suddenly we had equal rights, and we were demanding equal pay and equal orgasms. Enter Betty Friedan, The Joy of Sex, and a little book called The Sensuous Woman.

Guides for female behaviour had existed for literally centuries; one writer in the fourteen hundreds wrote a pamphlet for his thirteen year-old bride urging her to be his “faithful little dog”. With feminism, however, came a whole new world of dating, mating, and falling in love. Birth control changed the nature of sex and love, and women needed to find answers somewhere. Enter J – The Sensuous Woman.

“J” dished out advice on everything from dressing like a lady to masturbation to orgy ettiquette. She was truly ahead of her time, and her book was one of the first on modern dating to deal with issues like anal sex and self-confidence. While there were others that came afterward, none got quite so much press, until:

The Rules. Written 1995 by a couple of happily married women (one of whom would go on to get divorced by the printing of their third book), The Rules was a set of old-fashioned tenements basically telling women to “play hard to get”. Mrs’. Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider were determined to help all those poor, way-ward, post-feminism women who just couldn’t admit to themselves how desperately they needed and wanted a husband. Why, these women were so busy needing a man like a fish needed a bicycle, they forgot that they were not allowed to talk to a man first or return his calls!

The dating advice section is now big business, with titles like Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus and Why Men Love Bitches selling well enough to warrant websites, seminars, podcasts and workbooks. Even good old Dr. P has jumped on the bandwagon: his book Love Matters included chapters on “Your Bride Quotient”, “Your Guy-Q”, and “Single: There Are No Accidents.” He even took the simple phrase “plenty of fish in the sea” to the extreme. The good doctor warns women that, while there are indeed plenty of fish in that sea out there, one still must catch one’s fish, drag it into the boat, and beat it over the head with an oar until dead.

Actually, that sounds a lot like my last relationship.

*	*	*	*	*

We all have a friend like her. The kind of girl who’s had the same friends since middle school, goes to the same places she’s been all her life and constantly moans about her inability to get – or keep – a good man. My personal example of “that friend” is also annoying, gossipy, kind of a ditz and really high-maintenance, but you get the idea. And what would all these best-selling books urge this young woman to do?

“Rule #1 -Be a Creature Unlike Any Other.

…Being a creature unlike any other is really an attitude, a sense of confidence and radiance that permeates your being from head to toe…You have more confidence than women with MBAs or money in the bank…You tell yourself “any man would be lucky to have me”, until it sinks in and you start to believe it…” – The Rules, 1995.

“Chapter 1 – From Doormat to Dreamgirl – Act like a prize and you’ll turn him into a believer.” -Why Men Love Bitches, 2002.

Or how about these sub-headings from a meaty little book called All Men Are Jerks Until Proven Otherwise, 1998: Building Self-Esteem, Get to Know Yourself, Learn to Accept Yourself, Affirm a Great Life, Fall in Love with Yourself.

Okay, I get it. It’s a weird sexual world out there and the new rules are confusing. But I find books like the ones listed above offensive for two reasons: firstly, they presume that I believe I am worthless without a man; and secondly, they presume that I’m really just a great person who has had the unfortunate bad luck of meeting no-good men.

Well, here’s a newsflash for you, and for my annoying friend: some women are just mean bitches. Some women are demanding, needy, selfish and controlling. After reading thousands of pages of dating advice telling them to love themselves, to believe in themselves, and not to settle for bad behaviour, some women feel that they can do no wrong. And that’s a shameful and unfortunate side-effect of feminism if there ever was one.

There is nothing wrong and everything right with believing in yourself. There is no reason to let any relationship take advantage of you, be it familial, friendly or romantic. But I for one would really just like to see a chapter in one of those books titled “Maybe You’re Alone Because You’re Not a Nice Person” and remind people that being genuinely likable is just as important as loving yourself.

So, for all those women who lined up and shelled out $10 to watch famous actresses make a mess of their love lives, just hear me out. Maybe he’s not a jerk after all. Maybe you are.

Now add up the total number of points.

OVER 60 POINT: Others see you as someone they should “handle with care”.. You’re seen as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely dominant. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don’t always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you.

51 TO 60 POINTS: Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality, a natural leader, who’s quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything once, so meone who takes cha nces and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of the excitement you radiate.

41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting, someone who’s constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding, someone who’ll always cheer them up and help them out.

31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who’s extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you, realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken.

21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then, usually decide against it.. They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.

UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking after, who always wantssomeone else to make the decisions and who doesn’t want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as aworrier who always sees problems that don’t exist. Some people think you’re boring. Only those who know you well, knowthat you aren’t.

What did you score?

After 25 years of dominating daytime TV & talk shows, the Queen of ALL Media- Ms. Oprah Winfrey- will be shutting it down on Sept. 8, 2011. Personally I’m too choked up to give a statement right now. However, this is what Ms. Winfrey had to say on the matter:

“After much prayer and months of careful thought, I have decided that next season, Season 25, will be the last season of The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Over the next couple of days, you may hear a lot of speculation in the press about why I am making this decision now…and that will mostly be conjecture.

So I wanted you to hear this directly from me.
Twenty-four years ago, on September 8, 1986, I went live from Chicago to launch the first national Oprah Winfrey Show. I was beyond excited…and as you all might expect, a little nervous. I knew then what a miraculous opportunity I had been given, but I certainly never could have imagined the “yellow brick road” of blessings that have led me to this moment with you.

These years with you, our viewers, have enriched my life beyond all measure. And you all have graciously invited me into your living rooms, into your kitchens and into your lives. And for some of you longtime Oprah viewers, you have literally “grown up” with me—we’ve grown together. You had your families, and you raised your children and you left a spot for me in your morning or your afternoon, depending on when The Oprah Show airs in your town.

So I just wanted to say that whether you’ve been here with me from the beginning or you came on board last week, I want you all to know that my relationship with you is one that I hold very dear. And your trust in me, the sharing of your precious time every day with me has brought me the greatest joy I have ever known.

So here we are, halfway through the season, 24, and it still means as much to me to spend an hour every day with you as it did back in 1986. So why walk away and make next season the last?

Here is the real reason: I love this show. This show has been my life. And I love it enough to know when it’s time to say good-bye.

Twenty-five years feels right in my bones and it feels right in my spirit. It’s the perfect number—the exact right time. So I hope that you will take this 18-month ride with me right through to the final show.

Over this holiday break, my team and I will be brainstorming new ways that we can entertain you and inform you and uplift you when we return here in January. And then Season 25—we are going to knock your socks off.

So, the countdown to the end of The Oprah Winfrey Show starts now and until that day in 2011 when it ends, I intend to soak up every meaningful, joy-filled moment with you.”

18 Months! I’ve got 18 MONTHS to get on my grind, make shit happen & appear on this legend’s show before it goes off the air. Mr. Hollywood, are you with me? Excuse us, we have work to do.

-”The BklynBandette.” Mr. Hollywood’s Co-Defendant.

Oprah Winfrey: Stock Photo 2004 What in the world will we do without the Oprah Winfrey Show? As with

Oprah Winfrey: Stock Photo 2004

What in the world will we do without the Oprah Winfrey Show?

As with any long-term relationship, the notion that the “party is over” can bring a pain that is not easily accepted.

I spent all of my teens with Oprah. Watching every show and trying to tape the ones I knew I was going to miss. I do believe her show topics and the people she had on her show led me to make the decision to live a better life.

There was Donohue that I watched, too and Gerardo and Jerry Springer (when he was legit)…I watched Dinah Shore, too, when I was a wee bitty…

But, no other woman on TV has had an impact on my life as Oprah has.

From “The Color Purple” with Madame Whoopi to “The Women Of Brewster Place” to everything that Oprah touched.

She had folks like Dr. Phil, Dr. Iyanla Van Zant, Gary Zukav, John Gray and the “He Just Not That Into You” guy, Greg Behrendt…and host of others.

Oprah made or broke a career…yes, she did…Yes, she can. (Wink, wink!)

Is she really leaving her infamous Oprah Winfrey Show?

Is the party really over?

Well, time will honestly tell if she may add just one more year…

But if she doesn’t, she will be sorely missed and never forgotten. The legacy that a poor, obese, abused black woman left on the world is so profound that I don’t understand how anyone can ever doubt themselves and what they can accomplish in their lives.

Oprah was desinted to be nothing…a nobody, but her drive and determination led her above and beyond ever her own expectations, I suspect.

Bravo, Oprah, bravo!

Encore!

Miss Q and I had a constant “I need you to listen to me.” “Okay, I’ll listen

Miss Q and I had a constant “I need you to listen to me.” “Okay, I’ll listen to you mama, from now on.” battle royal today. It was as if she decided she was bored with being a monkey and moved on to being an ape.

How can two-year-olds be so trying, yet so confidently cute at the same time?

Each time she looked into my eyes with her wide hazels, I bought into her honesty. Surely she won’t continue down the path of sneakiness, I thought after catching her with her hand in the sugar jar. She just needs a change of scenery, I chanted when she removed her socks as we tried to leave for her play group.

After I found her not at the front door, but bouncing on her bed, socks off, declaring, “I just need to do this to burn off my energy.” I knew I was going to have to do what Dr. Phil says, and raise the stakes. (Incidentally, I’m okay with the bouncing on the bed, it’s the other parts I’m not okay with.)

But, time-tested time out was greeted with, “You need to get the timer, Mama. Here, I’ll help you.” No tears, no tantrum, just one two-year-old eagerly trying to set two minutes on the clock.

So, was taking all her stuffies away the next time she didn’t listen too harsh a punishment for a two-year-old?

Probably not, considering the two-year-old in question helped her daddy remove all the toys from her room. A game for her – gleeful her animals were marching out of her room in droves. An empty room – new and exciting. ”You forgot this,” she told me, handing me the doll’s pillow.

Some would say she was crying out for attention by misbehaving. Others would say she’s two- deal with it. I’m sure it’s a bit of both. What good is it to be two if you can’t test the boundaries and your parents once and a while?

As Miss Q sleeps, I type beside her pile of stuffed animals, random throw pillows and bedroom carpet. They’ll be returned tomorrow, not that she’s concerned about starting fresh. Maybe Dr. Phil’s advice is better suited for phone loving thirteen-year-olds.

Hey There,

Here are some updates that I decided not to post on Facebook:

Quick movie review 1: I did not “heart” huckabees. (To be honest, I think I kinda liked that movie, but come on, that name is ripe for parody)

I don’t know why Sarah Palin hates those Death Panels. What if they did them like an American Idol type show. She could be the Paula Abdul judge. And Dr. Phil could be Simon Cowell. And Dr. Drew could be Randy Jackson. I bet that would get great ratings.

Quick movie review 2: The Men Who Stare at Goats. Sure, there were men and there were goats, but there wasn’t too much staring going on.

What’s up with Aquaman?

My main problem with the GI Joe movie was that the second half of the movie takes place in the Arctic Circle, yet there’s no Snowjob? What’s up with that

I have stopped carrying around pocket change because I think it’s wrong to lie to homeless people. (I can’t take credit for this one. I’m not sure who said it, but I really don’t carry around pocket change and I guess that’s the reason)

So last Fri I ran out of a few of my medications (5 nights without) and when I contacted the VA, found that I would have to wait 7 more days until their arrival. Unknown to me, 1 one of them has a wonderful withdrawal side affect. I lower your blood pressure. Normally though it is not a serious issue, normally being 1 in16 experience issues.

Work as normal, stress high, hating my mornings and while walking to check on my supplies for a printer, I suddenly got weak. I sat down and started to feel dizzy and a bit confused. Ok, nothing too bad. After a few minutes though a pain in my chest on the right side like I have never had before. It made it difficult to breath. It was not angina which occurred as you took a breath, this was constant. After about 10 to 15 minutes I guess, it stopped and I went to my desk where it happened again but I was more dizzy and confused than before. I tried to call the VA. I was put on hold for 30 minutes, by that time: the pain had subsided once again. I started to work, preparing for my time off as I have to support my wife’s upcoming surgery.

Suddenly I did not know who I was, where I was, I was in pain, I was confused and dizzy. I remembered I work at the WTB so I made my way down to a nurse and told her what was going on and got a calm, well something is not right, go have it checked out answer. She did not check my vitals nor did she take any action. The phone range and it was the VA who instructed me after a very brief discussion, to call 911 or to go to the ER. Well, I complied. I was admitted quickly and hooked into a heart monitor, given aspirin, a mild sedative, IV and had blood and an X-Ray taken within my first 20 minutes there. After several EKG’s, more blood work, and 6 hours of monitoring, I was released with the comment, “sir, you’re doing well, you had a near cardiac event”. I received a supplemental supply of medications and special instructions.

Next morning, I received copies of my treatment records for the VA and my records and to my surprise they stated I suffered an “Acute Myocardial Infarction” of Heart Attack. What is funny is that I have made attempts to take my life. I have thought of taking my life. I have struggled with those thoughts over the last year and here I have a Heart Attack and now Question again my place.

Wow, come to think of it, this is the second time this has happened, like life is testing me to see if I am over my issues. First was the cancer scare and now the more serious Heart Attack. So a threat of a possible issue did not work, let me (says life) give you something you will take to heart! Ohhhhhhh life is good……So it has made my mind up, forced my hand. I know now my direction in life.

These photos of the Gosslin Sextuplets haunt me! They clearly show is what happens when you are ”mea

These photos of the Gosslin Sextuplets haunt me! They clearly show is what happens when you are ”mean” (Mady’s words), rule children with an iron fist, constantly reprimand them and harp on them for the smallest infraction, like having spots on their clothes and not allowing them to be kids and get dirty and explore. This is what happens when children see their mother bitching out their dad all the time and belittling him, and showing them that their dad is not to be respected, because he can never do anything right. This is what happens when kids feel the horrific tension between mom and dad, when they don’t have other relatives in their life to bond with, grandparents or aunts and uncles to spoil them, or cousins to learn from. And this is what happens when children FEAR you. FEAR is not LOVE. They look sad and miserable.

And speaking of fear, I will never forget the episode when one of the kids got hysterical in front of Jon while he as bucking them into the car seat because they had gotten dirty. Jon reassured and comforted the child that it was their mother who wanted them to be neat, but that it was OK if they were dirty and they didn’t need to get so upset.

What is even more repulsive about these photos is Kate’s body language when around these kids. They look like props for her. Her facial expression is distant. Her spatial relation to the kids is distant. There is significant tension and rigidness in her body. And what bothers me the most is you see her flanked by the two kids she favors- Colin ( the one we constantly saw hit and bully the other children who usually had a serious and mean expression on his face) and Hannah, her little helper around the house.

A MESSAGE TO ALL YOU KATE FANS WHO HAVE THOUGHTS OF DISAGREEING WITH MY BODY LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT

And please, please, to all you in -denial, collapsing your own issues of a bad cheating husband, single parent with lots of kids identifying, equally abusive as Kate identifying , not the brightest crayon in the pack , BLIND, Kate “lovers”, DO NOT email me and tell me you don’t agree with my body language assessment because I don’t care what you think in this regard. Here is why:

I have spent two decades of my life studying Body Language and Communication and attended the best Universities in the nation including the University of Michigan where I graduated number one in my class , received my PhD at 24 from the University of Minnesota and a Post doctorate at UCLA School of Medicine at 26, and have studied with the “founding fathers” in my field of communication and in other related fields. I have written over fifty articles in professional journals, have researched the topic extensively, have been a university professor at one of the most prestigious universities in the world, USC, have written 15 books on various aspects of communication including my best seller Toxic People and a body language book”I Know What You are Thinking,” and have been discussing this topic in the media worldwide for two decades.

I have been respected enough by some of the most prestigious and popular media outlets to be a regular commentator on shows like Nancy Grace, ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, The Insider, and Entertainment Tonight just to name a few to be their body language expert. I have appeared in newspapers and magazines throughout the world on a consistent basis, discussing body language of celebrities, politicians, newsmakers, terrorists, and criminals and have the honor of my own MONTHLY body language column in the most prestigious woman’s magazine in the world COSMOPOLITAN magazine called “The Real Story.”

I have worked with countless Academy Award winners and other household names for decades, helping them prepare their body language, vocal patterns for their movie roles from my first client- teaching Dustin Hoffman for sound like a woman for “Tootsie” to my last client Will Smith of helping him get his body language in character for “Seven Pounds.”

I have lectured on the topic of Body Language and Communication for over two decades. I have lectured to law enforcement about body language and how to spot body language “tells” in criminals which have proved to save officers lives. I have served an expert witness in criminal and state trials where I have used my body language and communication skill expertise in cases involving child molestation, rape, sexual harassment , attempted murder, and robbery, and illegal drug cartels. I have even used my expertise in divorce negotiations. I also serve as a jury consultant for criminal cases.

I am not telling you this to impress you. I am telling you the facts. I am telling you that I am the real deal and not some bullshit fake or phony. I know what I am talking about. I have combined my extensive knowledge in communication, psychology, and clinical genetics, and body language to educate and share with you the knowledge I have been blessed to have.

Therefore, I can tell you with the utmost self confidence and without ego, that no one in the USA, with the exception of Dr. Paul Ekman from Stanford who did the pioneering research on facial leakage and facial expression can come close to me in this area. In fact the popular Fox Show “ Lie to Me” is based on Dr. Ekman’s and his research. What Dr. Ekman has brought to the table in the area of facial leakage and facial expression, I have brought to the table in the area of Vocal and Speech Leakage and Voice and Speech Research as it pertains to the global aspects of body language.

So to ALL you Kate fans who have any thoughts of telling me you don’t agree with me, until you have the same education and background and have done significant research in the area as I have done, only then will I regard you as a professional peer and respect what you have to say about whether you agree or disagree with me on my body language assessment. In the meantime, learn from me. The lessons are FREE in this blog .

I had to mention that because I have received an email from a hateful, ignorant Kate loving, reader accusing me of making money off of Kate. So to you- hateful, ignorant, Kate loving reader, it’s all free. As you can see above I have other ways of making money than from Kate Gosselin. I am also not doing of what else you accuse me – “riding on the coat tails of Kate Gosselin” to enhance my fame. Kate is only one the newsmaker I have analyzed during my past two decades of doing this work. If you bother to read my other blogs, you would know that.

And one last thing, please don’t email me with false accusations about myself and who I am because you may not have liked what you read about your beloved Kate. Don’t even bother. Trust me, I know myself better than anyone in the world (except for my mom lol) and made it a point to spend a lot of time and effort finding out about me and studying me and analyzing me. So you haven’t succeeded when you write mean things about me as your immature way of trying to hurt me. I actually find it humorous and chuckle. So don’t waste your time.

And FINALLY for the record, don’t ever accuse me of hating Kate Gosselin. I hate her behaviors. I think they are not serving her well. I think they did noi serve Jon well. I think her behaviors are ruining her and definitely ruining her children as you will see you read on in this blog. Now back to the real issue – the kids!

KIDS LOOK LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO A FUNERAL AND NOT TO A PLAYGROUND

While the first two photographs are awful enough, in terms of analyzing the kid’s body language, when you look at what is happening with these kids on the playground it is horribly disturbing. And don’t dare email me and tell me that these kids look fine and that they are just kids.

Yes, they are just kids, but you have to be blind if you don’t see that they are unhappy, sad looking kids with serious faces. Kids are supposed to smile and laugh when they play. There is no laughter or smiles, only sour and dour expressions. It is not their fault, They are just leaking out their true feelings through their faces. Their limbic systems, located deep within their little brains which are responsible for their emotions, is showing up on their sweet faces. They have been policed with such a heavy hand by Kate that it took the joy out of playtime as we see here. Kate is not playing with them or interacting with them. She polices them.

What is also disturbing is that Kate doesn’t interact with the kids. Instead she watches over them like an SS officer in the Gestapo These are the saddest photos I have ever seen of children at play.

COLIN, THE BULLYING CHILD

Of course she does attend to the one child who is crying and seems to always be angry about something- Colin, Colin who is just like her, Colin, is her favorite and the bully. That’s right I said “bully”. And BLIND Kate lovers, please don’t bother to write me about me calling and labeling a child a bully. That is the consistent behavior he has shown on the show.

Watch the show and see he that is mean to the other children and pushes them. Instead of criticizing, spend your time reading my Toxic People book and look under the section of “The Bitchy Bossy Bully” and you will see descriptions that would apply not only to Kate but to a child as well- Colin.

If he doesn’t learn how to modify these behaviors as he gets older, it is not going to be pleasant for others to be around him. In fact if he pulls some of his crap we saw him pull on the show his sibilings, with a bigger peer, you can bet that he will be in a lot of school yard fights and may come out the losing end. So his behavior needs to be modified now while he still has a chance – not when it is impossible.

GET THESE KIDS INTO THERAPY NOW! STAT!

As a nurse Kate understands the meaning of the word STAT. In nurse talk and doctor talk, it means NOW as it RIGHJT NOW, WE DON’T HAVE A SECOND TO SPARE OR THE PATIENT WILL DIE! So to speak your language from back in your nursing days Kate Gosselin, GET ALL YOUR KIDS INTO THERAPY STAT- RIGHT NOW YOU DON’T HAVE A SECOND TO SPARE!

If you want to be seen as a GOOD MOTHER, please, I beg you, do this NOW! If you want to be seen as a BAD MOTHER, don’t get them the help they desperately need. There is no stigma these days about getting kids into therapy. This is not the days of straight jackets and people being locked away in bedlam mental institutions with deplorable conditions and archaic treatment. Get that image out of your head. Nobody will think you are a bad mother for getting them into therapy with a child psychologist once a week. They will think you are a bad mother if you don’t get them into therapy. You messed them up. There is no doubt about it. Now you can repair that damage by getting them to see the right person.

DR. PHIL WOULD WANT ALL THOSE KIDS IN THERAPY

I know that you love and adore Dr. Phil as much as I do. I think Dr. Phil is great! In fact, I just did his show last week for his show about “lying” and he and I agreed to do several more body language related shows. He is truly a super guy and he truly cares about people. He LOVES his audience and they LOVE him back. I saw that up close and personal. I watched him in action and believe me, he clearly knows what he is doing. He is the real deal. He has impeccable credentials and has also been a jury consultant. In fact if it wasn’t for Dr. Phil, there would be no Oprah today. She would have lost it all because of the suit filed against her by the meat industry. Dr. Phil saved her behind and she knew it. She was eternally grateful and did the right thing- sharing Dr. Phil with the public.

I know you reached out to him with Jon. It’s too bad you didn’t continue because he, if anyone, could help you get your marriage back on track. Even if he did in on camera where you and Jon seem to flourish anyway, it that would be great. But Jon stupidly backed out. This could have been a great opportunity for you. And knowing how you like freebies, the therapy would be free to you and Jon by the best relationship counselor- Dr. Phil. There is no doubt that Dr. Phil would tell you to get all your kids into therapy with a qualified CHILD PSYCHOLOGIST on a REGULAR BASIS– STAT!!!! That is exactly what I am telling you now.

GOOD MOTHERS ADDRESS THEIR CHILDREN’S NEED FOR THEAPY

After seeing these kid’s body language the sadness on ALL their faces in these photos taken a day ago, and you do not take them into therapy when they really need it, you are abusing those kids. Someone needs to step in and get them help. You are a very bad mother if you don’t do that for them.

Being a good mother does not mean making sure their clothes have no spots on them or that they are quiet. Being a good mother means attending to their every need. If they had a broken arm and you didn’t take them to the hospital to fix it you would be guilty of abuse. If you did not take them to a doctor when they had a high fever or vomited uncontrollably and they died, you would be guilty of abuse. If they were locked in a hot car without the windows open and you left them there and they died, you would bit only be guilty of abuse, you would now have criminal charges filed at you.

To me, not getting those kids into therapy when they desperately need it, is abuse and criminal. If you can’t afford it, ask you buddies at TLC. They made enough money to support and pay for therapy for those kids for the rest of their lives. Also I am sure each one of them have health insurance since many health insurances cover therapy. You can’t afford NOT to do this for them. They deserve it and need it desperately.

You say publically that because the show is no longer being filmed, the kids ”wailed and cried” when they found out. If that is the case damn it, get them into therapy just for that alone. Then you say the kids will miss the TV crew who were like family to them (which I personally believe is bullshit because they had so many different crew people over the years). But if that is the case as you claim, this is yet another reason to get them into therapy. One week when you were on TV, you stated you had the most well adjusted kids ( which I thought was total bullshit) . Then a week later you publicly announce that the kids are having a hard time with the divorce, which I totally believe. If that is the case, then that is yet another reason to get them into therapy. Since you have so many gripes about Jon and his lifestyle and how it’s affecting the kids and his babysitting fiasco, that is even more reason to get them into therapy.

Unlike being on TV, everything those kids say to the child therapist is between the kids and the child therapist. Nobody else has to know. It is safe and confidential, based on HIPPA laws, You are familiar with HIPPA laws being a nurse. You know that it means everything is handled with the utmost of confidence. So you have nothing to worry about in case the kids say something that may affect your public image. No one will know except the kids and the therapist.

PLEASE GET MADY SOME HELP, YESTERDAY!!

Besides angry, hostile , bullying Colin, Mady scares the hell out of me. Her apparently anger and frustration at such a young age is cause for concern. She loves her daddy and was even there to protect him as we all saw when you bitched Jon out at the Travel Store. This definitely has an effect on her. How you have treated her by yelling at her all the time and ignoring her, especially when it was your special day alone together was unconscionable. I even blogged about it. The ways she has been treated will all scar her psyche forever.

She needs therapy to help her deal with all the hostility she obviously harbors against you. Just being a twin is hard enough and all that psychology that goes along with twin hood. Having a new sibling enter your home when you are four is an adjustment enough. But having six is overwhelming. Now you have to deal with all the psychology of having seven siblings. Then there is the pressure you put on her to help care for the babies.

Cara, her twin was a dutiful helper but Mady wanted no part of it, and rightfully so. She was a little girl herself and needed attention. You got on her case all the time as we saw for her not helping like “good” twin, obedient Cara. Because she didn’t want to cooperate, you made her into the “bad twin” It became a self fulfilling prophecy as she now only saw herself as the “bad twin” and the “bad child” and always acted out to get attention.

Who could forget her acting out and her misery at the child amusement park when the babies were younger? You said to Jon, “I can’t deal with her- you deal with her,” in such a mean an hostile tone. That made me sick.

If Mady was my daughter and craved that much attention, the last thing I would do is ignore her or reprimand her. I would provide an outlet just for her to express herself and get the attention she needs in a positive way. She was so happy during her modeling shoot. She is so animated and alive. She is spunky and bright. I would get her into acting classes or if she has singing talent or dancing talent develop those kills as an outlet for her creativity. She needs to be in little plays or singing shows at school. She needs something that is uniquely her own. But most of all she needs THERAPY STAT!!!!

SO Kate Gosselin, please finally show yourself as a good mother and not a bad mother which you are now being, by not addressing your children’s psychotherapeutic needs. Get these suffering children into therapy so their body language will reflect happiness and not misery.

Let’s see a body language with freedom of movement and a fluidly, instead of the rigidness and tense robotic movement we see now. Let’s see facial expressions with genuine happiness where both the eyes crinkle and the lips part and the teeth show instead of pursed lips and tight sad faces. www.drlillianglass.com

My brother calls me that, cause on occasion this girl, or that girl will call me and I listen to the

My brother calls me that, cause on occasion this girl, or that girl will call me and I listen to their problems and I try to give them advice, or just listen to them. He chastises me, he says the guys that listen to girls problems doesn’t get laid. Which is probably true. He also says that a friend is a boyfriend that doesn’t get laid. Which might be true as well. My brother’s been married 3 times, don’t know if I want to take relationship advice from him though. My brother just doesn’t understand, that when your dead and buried it doesn’t matter how many people you fucked. It’s not about how much money you have in the bank, it’s not how big your house is, or how fast your car went.

When your dead, people will remember who you are, and how you touched their lives….how will you be remembered? Did you make a positive impact in someone’s life. To me that is the most important thing, that I add to someone’s life, and not take away from it.

When I was younger, I lost a couple dear friends of mine, I vowed never, ever not have the time to listen to someone. If I talked to these people would it of saved their lives, I don’t know. But I will never turn away a friend if they have a problem, no matter what is in between their legs.

So if that makes me a pussy. So be it.

TLC FAILS AT KATE’S IMAGE REHAB After Kate Gosselin’s first Q and A Special on TLC, where she tossed

TLC FAILS AT KATE’S IMAGE REHAB

After Kate Gosselin’s first Q and A Special on TLC, where she tossed papers and showed her hostility, arrogance, and self entitlement, and signals of deceptions, the public was very turned off. TLC knew this. So they tried to do some quick image rehab. That this why they immediately put her on the air the following week, to give her another chance and fix the damage . This time, they changed up the format and had her interviewed with a pro from the Today show, Natalie Morales. This time around, TLC did not let Kate talk directly into the camera or leave her to her own devices. Instead, they used their own devices- An Earpiece put into Kate’s ear where they fed Kate what to say and fed her when to cry .

It didn’t matter what TLC tried to do to improve Kate’s image. My Body Language Analysis told it all! I still saw through the false manipulation. Why? Because the body and the voice don’t lie. I picked up all her “tells,” even though she tried to be subdued. Right after her second TLC interview I went on The Insider and shared that Kate was still arrogant, self absorbed, and entitled. She still lied and showed signals of deceptions. The only difference I noticed was that tears, fake tears that weren’t spontaneous. She also paused a lot more and sounded more stilted and deliberate. I then said on the Insider that “anyone who spent that much time crying on a journalist’s couch needed to spend the same amount of time on a therapist’s couch. “

But now the truth has been revealed as to the reason for the fake tears and the long pauses and stilted talk. One of my dear readers, Jibber Jabber sent me a video to analyze. It said it all! Kate wore an earpiece and she was being fed when to cry and what to say. That is why she paused all the time and spoke more deliberately to hear whomever was on the other end, spinning it for her.

TLC TRIED TO MANIPULATE US AND SHOVE A FALSE IMAGE OF KATE DOWN OUR THROAT TO RECOUP THEIR LOST REVENUES

If there is any a good reason to boycott any show by TLC starring Kate Gosselin this is it.!How dare them try to manipulate me and you! How dare them think that the public is so stupid they wouldn’t see past their bullshit! How dare them try to present the new Kate as a teary eyed victim so she will be more likeable when they give her her own show.

The ONLY reason this woman is offered her own talk show is because TLC has lost a lot of money since Jon pulled out. So to get their revenue back from their cash cow Jon and Kate Plus 8, they are giving Kate her own show. They think they have a built in audience and that people who watched Kate Plus 8 will now watch Kate! Wrong! People watched Kate Plus 8 watched to see the babies grow up. Now that the kids are older, they are not fun to watch and aren’t as interesting. Also no one likes to see children exploited.

TLC DOESN’T THINK WHAT IS BEST FOR THE KIDS- ONLY EXPLOITING THE KIDS

The kids are five years old and this is exploitation now in my opinion. They are now, in Kate’s own words, showing signs of acting out because of the divorce. If these kids are acting out or in emotional pain, for God’s sake get a camera out of their faces and get them into therapy. Since TLC exploited them, they must pay for the therapy they now need .

When their peers are starting to notice they are little celebs and Kate gives them horrible advice like she gave Leah, it’s time for the kids to get off television for good. Tt is a blessing in disguise these 5 year olds are now off the air. Jon did it to get back at Kate, but he really ended up doing those kids a favor in the long run.

On the latest TLC debacle, Kate shared that a little classmate of Leah’s said she saw Leah on TV. Kate told Leah to tell the classmate, “ I don’t want to talk about it!” What???? If you don’t want to talk about it, then get off TV ! That is horrible advice to give Leah. It makes her look like a little Bitch and it hurts the innocent classmate’s feelings! That is bad parental advice !!!! Ratings would have plummeted anyway as the kids grew older.

MADY, WHO CALLED KATE “MEAN” REALLY NEEDS THERAPY NOW!!

Also let’s bring Mady in now. Mady is the older child- the twin girl always crying and having a tantrum on the show. She was NOT presented in a very good light. Now that she is a tween she does not need her peers to seeing her acting like a mess. The way she was handled was horrific.

She was punished for craving love and attention. That is why she acted out. She needs MAJOR therapy now from all the damage that was done to her. I shudder to think how she will be when she will be an adult. Pay for her treatment NOW. She harbors so much anger and rightfully so. This girl is the one who said to Kate “You’re mean.” when selfish narcissistic Kate took a drink of water and didn’t give Mady a sip. That was captured on camera. Can you imagine what else Kate has done to be “mean “ to Mady when there are no cameras present?

On one of my blogs I showed how Kate, who is supposed to be spending alone time with Mady ignores her and is on the phone. She clearly shows that Mady is the least liked of all the kids. Mady knows this. That is why she squeals to Jon about the ongoings in the household when he isn’t around.

All of this mean behavior towards her and being labeled as the troubled child and showing her in this bad light will no doubt have negative ramifications as she gets older. TLC needs to pay for the damage they caused her big time! Kids at her age are so critical and will continue to be until she is in college. Can you imagine the teasing she could get and mean comments from other girls in the locker room as they call her a “brat” or bring up her antics from the show. OUCH!!

KATE HAS NO BUSINESS HAVING HER OWN SHOW AND TLC KNOWS IT!

People watched the show to see growing babies. But to watch Kate alone would be absolute torture. Who wants to see a show with a mean spirited, nasty , arrogant, narcissistic, abusive, self absorbed, self righteous, ego driven woman who brings nothing to the table. So what that she took fertility drugs and had to stay in bed during her pregnancy and then delivered sextuplets. )By the way that line was obviously fed to her on the TLC Special because it was a nonsequiter and didn’t make sense when she said it on the Special . It came out nowhere. Now we see it came out of her earpiece from words fed to her by TLC or their minions).

As a nurse, Kate knew what she was doing when she took the fertility drugs. She knew the consequences. What angers people is not that she had the babies )God bless them all). What angers people is her self entitlement that we are now responsible for HER kids . We didn’t shove those pills down her throat! She took them voluntarily and now has to deal with the consequences- not US!

She isn’t some haggard mother who has to raise her kids alone. She has had loads of help and nannies and house cleaners and has load of money. All of the kids are financially taken care of according to her. She is not the poster mom for motherhood.

She is anything but that. She has verbally and physically abused Jon and has verbally abused those kids. She has treated Mady horribly. To me, she hasn’t shown signs of being such an ideal mother. And don’t give me some garbage about how would I know, not having 8 kids. Those kids need love and kindness more than a clean house and clean shirts as Jon ever said many times on the show.

KATE IS NOT LIKEABLE AND DOES NOT HAVE THE EXPERIENCE OR THE ‘IT’ FACTOR IT TAKES TO BE A SUCCESSFUL TELEVISION PERSONALITY

Now before some of you blind Kate fan start accusing me of hating Kate (I told you many times all the people whom I hate and Kate is not on my list) or telling me I don’t know what I am talking about, let me assure you I know what I am talking about more than anyone in the world! I have spent the last two decades in Hollywood helping people with “IT” get polished in terms of their body language and communication skills to get camera ready . You see many of the people I worked with on TV today, hosting major shows. Many have been on the air for a long, long time! So don’t even go there with me!

Studios and managers and agents have sent me their clients throughout the years to make significant changes in how their clients come across the airwaves. One of my early clients was teaching Dustin Hoffman to sound like a woman for Tootsie and one of my last clients was getting Will Smith’s character’s image ready in Seven Pounds. I have worked with countless A list Academy Award winners and Emmy Winners and countless stars who came to me when they were just starting out. I;m not bragging or tooting my own horn. It’s just the facts. It lets you know that this is what I do and what I know.

Every upcoming TV star or host or reporter or commentator with whom I worked had something in common. It is called “IT”- a likeability factor- or as they refer to it in Hollywood “Likeability Quotient”. So when I tell you KATE does not have IT, believe me. No Hollywood agent, manager or studio head in their right mind would EVER EVER give Kate a show. She brings NOTHING to the table. Big deal that she was a bitchy mom of 8 kids on a reality show. That is NO experience of getting your own talk show. She is NOT an expert. She is NOT a role model as you NEVER want to be treating your husband or kids the ways he treated them. She is NOT likeable, warm friendy, kind, and most of all she is self absorbed and HATES HER FANS! Bad qualities for ANYONE who wants a media career,
\

ANOTHER REASON WHY KATE WIL FAIL- SHE HATES HER FANS
TLC last feeding into her earpiece was some bullshit about the FANS. It was insincere and did NOT ring TRUE! She said “I used to find the fans an annoyance and now I appreciate them.” Of course she does,! She finally got it, that without her fans she cant have her own show. So they told her , through her earpiece, to do a shout out to the fans! It was lame and not heartfelt. You can see how she doesn’t like her fans at her books signings and lectures. She treats them like inanimate objects. There is no warmth . People feel when they are liked and appreciated and she does NOT like her fans. She said so and she shows it! You cant take that back when you realize that Fans are a commodity. That is unforgettable and FANS will ALWAYS remember her words, There is no going back and no spin that could fix what she said.

Those who have major longevity on TV and in film LOVE their fans. I know Nancy Grace really well- even before she became a super star when she was just beginning on Court TV. I saw up close and personal how she LOVED LOVED LOEVD her fans. Fans would come into the studio and she made them feel so welcome. Even how she talks to caller on her show now is real and warm and beautiful. She loves them and appreciates them.

ANOTHER REASON KATE WILL FAIL – SHE HATES THE PAPPS

The next thing is Kate HATES the papps, She coldly and hatefully looked straight at Natalie and said she had a HATE/HATE relationship with the papps. You can NEVER EVER go back on those words. They will ALWAYS REMEMBER IT. Because of it, they will make her life even more papp unfriendly and unfortunately, the spillover will be to her kids. The TLC earperice feeders must have been dozing off to let that one get by. Maybe they figured they would let her answer that one. But she completely BLEW it!! If she thinks the papps are bad now just wait if she gets a show. She can have an army of bodyguards. It won’t help. Her life will be a war with them. She started it and they will win it. I have seen this scenario many times with many people up close and personal. If Papps and reporters aren’t on your side and you want to be out there in the public eye FUGEDABOUDIT!!

TLC KNOWS DEEP DOWN SHE ISNT READY FOR PRIME TIME

You don’t get to be a TV Exec if you haven’t had successes in making hit shows. By the same token, you don’t get to remain a Studio Exec, if you have failures. This is a failure waiting to happen! TLC executives obviously know she isn’t ready to have her own show. As I said They know she doesn’t have the IT factor as they call it in Hollywood or The Likeability factor. That is why they are working so hard to spin her into a likeable victim. But it backfired.

They know she is not qualified to host a show, so they have been scrambling to get her some chopps. They stuck her on as aa guest host of the View to get experience and she bombed. All it was, was a trash fest against Jon until Whoopie let her have it! Then TLC scrambled to get her hooked up with Paula Deen for more chopps. Having Kate on Paula Deen’s new show is a sure fire way to ruin Paula’s show. Now Paula Deen has IT! See what I am talking about ! It is love warmth and likeability. You can’t manufacture or change IT. You either have IT or you DON’T AND Kate DOESN’T have IT!!!

ANOTHER REASON KATE’S SHOW WILL FAIL- SHE DOESN’T HAVE THE EXPERIENCE AND BRINGS NOTHING TO THE TABLE!

If you brought Kate Gosselin or Jon for that matter, into any Hollywood agent’s office or suit’s office (Studio exec) NO ONE would give Kate a show EVER! She has no experience. She has not been properly trained or schooled and is too self absorbed. Being a bitchy mom on a reality show and playing your unlikeable self is no experience for a talk show host. TLC knows this. That is why they scrambled to get her some chopps as I said earlier. But you need more experience than that to do a show, especially if you have zero to bring to the table.

Now for all you blind Kate fans ,PLEASE don’t throw up examples of people who had and now have talk shows and had no experience. It is a rarity. And if they don’t have experience, they have magnificent ,electric , larger than life personalities, They are loveable, they are bright, and have a skill that people are interested in.

I will spare you the effort and do it for you. They may have not had experience but they ALL HAD “IT”. They all had charisma and a high Likeability Quotient and they ALL brought something to the table unlike Kate. A mean fertility pill taking sextuplet bearing , multi helper, multi houskeepered, multi nannied mother who is narcissistic and self absorbed with NOTHING to say except to LIE repeatedly and bash her bad husband and her complete insensitivity to those kids as she continues to Bash, BRINGS NOTHING TO THE TABLE!

Montel had no talk show experience when he began, but he brought a heck of a lot to the table. He was loveable, compassionate, brilliant, educated, a Navy Seal, humane and totally unselfish and LOVED his audience. Riki Lake was an actress so that is chopps enough and besides, s he brought a LOT to the table and was smart and loveable. She had a back story of her own that people loved. Back in the day, she was cool and hip and everyone LOVED Riki. Dr. Phil didn’t have experience but brought a heck of a lot to the table. I just watched him in action last Tuesday, when I was a guest on his show. He LOVES his audience and they LOVE him back. He really cares about people other than himself which is repeatedly demonstrated and not the case with Kate. Rachel Ray is full of spunk and charisma and a bundle of delight. She’s watchable. Besides, she brings a eal skill to the table – cooking. While not the most charismatic, Martha Stewart brinks homemaking knowledge. Kate brings- zero or how to mess up your kids.

I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT REGARDING SHOWS- THEY ARE NOT EASY

As I said I have been in the TV business either behind the scenes as a professional helping on camera personalities be the best they can be and shine even brighter. I have even been in front of the scene myself as a reporter for KABC TV for years and a commentator on numerous shows for decades. I have even guest hosted some shows back in the day, like AM Detroit Kelly and Company and AM San Francisco and Healthwise .I was an OK host– not great! There are a heck of a lot of people who are much better at that then I was. I also did several pilots for shows – one called Midnight Confessions for Pax TV and one for a major studio. I even had my own radio show in Palm Springs for a while and filled in on ABC and KABC Radio. I am not telling you this to impress you. I am telling you this because I had the experience and I know what I am talking about.

I am always approached by someone to do a show and have been for years. But I don’t want to do something I am not qualified to do or that someone can do better who is a lot more qualified than myself. No one can come close to Dr. Phil, so I would never think of doing a show like his.

But no one can come close to me in the Body Language and Behavioral Analysis arena. So if I were to do a show about reading people, that could definitely work. I am also not self consumed and don’t think I’m all that. I know who I am and I am very secure with that. I know I am not the most beautiful or the hottest. But I do know I bring a hell of a lot to the table.I am highly educated and know my stuff and also really care about others and about exposing bullshit. I respect the public enough that I strongly believe they must not be fooled.

I WRITE YOU THESE BLOGS FROM THE HEART AS IF I WAS CASUALLY SPEAKING WITH YOU SO EXCUSE THE GRAMMAR

That is why I take my time to do these blogs .And as a sidebar, please don’t get mad at me for my bad grammar. I write these blogs as I would exactly speak to personally if you were right here next to me and we were having a one on one intimate talk. So sometimes they aren’t grammatically correct. Sometimes you will see misspellings because I hurry and want to get this out to you early so you can read it. I may not have checked it over carefully enough. I apologize. In fact one of my precious readers has offered to help me clean up my grammar so I won’t aggravate some of you. So bear with me. But enough about me.

HERE IS WHO SHOULD HAVE A SHOW BEFORE KATE GOSSELIN

Here are some people who REALLY deserve their own show. Before even thinking about Kate here are the people that should have shows.

1 ROLANDA WATTS- Nobody and I mean nobody can beat her. She is like Oprah and Rachel Ray combined. She used to have a show with Kingworld back in the day and I was always on her syndicated show. She is smart, educated, compassionate, funny, LOVES her fans and they LOVE her. She is sharp, has her chopps, easy on the eye, and fun to watch. She;s even more fun to hang out with. She has a lot to say. You can watch her on braveheartwomen.com
2. LISA LING AND HER SISTER LAURA LING- THE LING SISTERS
They are beautiful and bright and warm and wonderful and they definitely have their chopps. Laura is the ultimate survivor and can relate to anyone in turmoil, after surviving the possibility of having to spend the rest of her life in a North Korean Work Camp. Her sister Lisa, formerly of the View showed what a loving sister she was and was so articulate in her plea and gratitude at the end. She has traveled the world with National Geographic TV so she knows people, places, and things and can relate to anyone. I would LOVE to see them have a show together,

3.FAMED ATTORNEY GLORIA ALRED AND HER ATTORNEY AND HOST DAUGHTER LISA BLOOM
Putting these beautiful talent brilliant women on a show would be great. They are both great mothers. Gloria is definitely a great mother as well as being a great attorney as look who she spawned- Lisa who is beautiful, warm, loveable, smart, real and an excellent TV personality. She now hosts for CNN and used to have her own show at Tru Tv. I was on her show many times and she was wonderful. I would LOVE to see the two of them on their own show together.

4, JIM MORET- HOST, REPORTER
For years Jim hosted Showbiz Today on CNN. Now he is a staple on Inside Edition and other shows. He is an attorney. He is a veteran reporter. He has covered the biggest stories in the world, He is smart, funny, warm and gorgeous. I remember him back from my reporting days when I was a Psychology Reporter at KABC TV. He was just starting out on air at KABC and all the women had crushes on him. I know Jim and he is the nicest man- a great family man with a huge heart and lots of compassion. He definitely deserves his own show.

There are so many others whom I would rather watch, who really deserve a show. To give Kate a show is an insult to the viewers and shows TLC’s greediness, especially when there are so many other people out there who are much more qualified and likeable.

Please feel free to email me and comment to let me know whom you would like to see having their own show as opposed to Kate Gosselin.
