With apologies for a lot of downtime thanks to our blogging software, we resume with the Walsall draw, a Jekyll and Hyde affair if ever we saw one.

During the first half Brentford were excellent, Myles Weston making us look quite the fool with a scintillating and ambitious performance. Half time merited more than a one goal lead.

Once he went off injured Brentford laboured and the ball kept bouncing back (past our non-existent midfield), leaving an equaliser tediously inevitable.

And that’s all we can be bothered to say at this stage.

I am starting to reinvent myself … at least this is what I have in mind. I am glad (not really … but being unemployed has its good parts also) I have some free time to be able to rediscover what I want to do next, which way to go and what should I do in order to reach my ideals!

let’s go for it!

After a week of lots of hard work and stress and thinking, and reading, watching tutorials, drawing, erasing, drawing again, a tone of recycled paper used for sketches and models … I have finalized the project “Puiul Mot” … the character in the creative brief i have received. I am not very happy with the result of my work, not happy at all … I don’t like the colors – there are too dark, too cold … and I think the most important mistake is the fact that I have designed the character on paper first … it should have been made in photoshop directly, not imported!

But I am proud of myself for having a “result” at all! I am proud that I had the courage and initiative to finish this project and further send it! It is only the start!

So here you are some pictures with the little character … I liked it more on paper!

Really, I hate this. I cannot talk and I just want to smack someone… well, I did already.

Thanksgiving dinner was fine, I had fruit, veggies and stuffing. And I mocked all the meaties as they ate. And I posted my yearly ‘Veggie Propaganda’ on Facebook. Now, Imma write. If I work hard, I can hit 50,000 tonight and be FREE!!!

And then I can RP and draw. I want to draw on my leg… why, I duno.

That, my friends, is a giraffe enjoying the delicious tastiness of your computer screen.

That giraffe says, “Go here and draw a giraffe! Help that blog get goin’!”

Note carefully that she does not say, “Goez heer so i can haz frend?!” because giraffes, in addition to high heads, have high I.Qs. Nevertheless, they are afraid of cats, who do speak that way… maybe you should be afraid, too.

I was a diver for a decade.  The summer before I headed into 7th grade, my dad took me to the highschool pool, to check out the swim team.  I’d always loved the water… decent swimmer, why not?

Across the way there were kids jumping off the boards and a guy yelling at them.  I was transfixed… it looked like fun.

When it came time for swim season for middle school, I signed up.  For some reason, I was a day late to practice, everyone knew where to go except me.  And almost everybody got in the pool, about 8 kids walked over to the boards.  I went with everybody.

Which lasted about two laps in the pool.  I got out and told the swim coach I wanted to dive, and went on over.  I got in line, and got on the board.  The diving coach, this loud hairy man without a shirt on, yelled “WHO ARE YOU??“  I answered.  Then I tried to do an approach, and ended up miserably embarrassed.

That was the beginning of a decade… with lots of ups and downs (pun intended).  I think my time with Randy, my coach, and my love of the sport was what got me through highschool.  College diving left me disillusioned, and I left the sport.  Without diving, there was nothing for me at the University of South Dakota, as I was majoring in something that had been decided for me when I was in the second grade ( I know, I know…), so I hit the road.  My big ol’ 84 Bronco, long nights driving the country, searching.  Along the way, drawing and writing and drawing…  The first time I bought myself a sketchbook was when I was 21.  And the road keeps going, on and on.

But diving.  The love of bodies in the air, bodies taking shape.  Still thrills me…

Se pueden destacar: la nueva herramienta de borrado (ya era hora! ), el auto-guardado, nuevos efectos, 200 filtros SVG, un corrector ortográfico y una nueva función de exportar en formato PS y EPS basada sobre Cairo.

Sin duda un gran programa para hacer dibujos vectoriales que no tiene nada que envidiar de programas como Corel Draw.

I’ve made a change in my starting lineup recently.  Not fantasy football lineup.  I don’t get into that “fun” anymore.  Got better things to do than get pissed at a player who if he wasn’t on my team I could care less about.  Nope, the starting line up I’m referring to is my all star clothing batting order.  That magical hierarchy of which shirt I’ll wear first give that they are all clean.  Every one does it but I’m pretty sure that I put more thought into that most.

For years chances are you’d find the same item at lead off in the cloth rotation.  A darker blue or navy blue polo.  Sometimes with stripes sometimes just solid plain color but nine times out of ten it was of the blue variety.  What can I say?  I’m a creature of habit.  Always liked navy blue and it looks good on me (very slimming, slimming good) so why deviate from that formula?

This past summer a strange thing happened.  A new competitor entered the Thunder-dome of Eric’s closet.  I was shopping around June at JC Penny’s and noticed a new stock of fat guy cloths came in.  Sure you can call it big and tall section but be honest when was the last time you saw a tall guy shopping in that area of menswear?  Among the new selection where some really nice white polos with navy blue stripes. Hmmm, white with navy blue stripes?  I usually like the other way around but this combo might just be crazy enough to work.  There was only problem.  They didn’t have 3xlt or as I like to call it size Eric. 

Oh well.  I supposed fate didn’t want me to be sporting this new item.  Just wasn’t in the cards but I figured I’d thumb through the pile of shirts just to see if there were any other non dark blue shirts.  Had to snatch them up before other fatties bought the rest of the shirts.  I stumbled onto a bastardized version of the White/Blue shirt that they didn’t have in my size.  This doppelganger was white with red stripes.

Red stripes?  No my usual cup of tea but it was on sale and at $12.99 it was worth a shot.  But you know what?  That white and red shirt that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to wear has slowly snuck up taking the number one spot in my clothing rotation.  I didn’t think I’d even wear it that often let alone be reaching for it first after I did laundry. 

I liked it so much even bought a 2nd shirt just like it.  Call them the twins.  Not sure if you’ve ever bought a shirt exactly like one you have but can I offer a word of advice?  DO NOT WEAR THE SAME SHIRT AS THE ONE YOU’RE BUYING WHEN YOU GO TO THE STORE!  You think no one will notice until the blabber mouthed cashier blurts out “Oh my god this is the same shirt as the one you’re buying.  Wow you must really like this style”.  That trumpet of observation then invites everyone else in line to give you the once over allowing them to judge your fashion sense.

In honor of this new switch from dark blue to bright red I’ve decided to update my blog.  Swapping out the boring old blue graphics for new exciting red ones.  Even redid the cartoon version of myself to not only match this color but to add a little more husky in husky animator.  How many times have you heard someone say “I’m going to have to redo my self portrait.  It’s just not fat enough”

CorelDRAW had its 20th anniversary just recently. If a software can stand for 20 years it couldn’t be that bad, right? But yes, it looks awkward and many people simply ignore it, since it is not “cool” enough. Its designer community isn’t large and the software itself has some disadvantages, which make it look a bit awkward. Let’s reviews some advantages and disadvantages of using this software.

Introduction

Why is that only people already addicted to CorelDRAW use it? Maybe they know something we don’t. In this article, I’ll review some of the issues with CorelDRAW. I think the developers of this software have created a sharp program, but not so user friendly.

CorelDRAW is very precise and reliable. All the tools give maximum control, but you must fight your way through to learn them. It’s definitely not the software that you can take for a quick spin and easily create great artwork.

The good news is that when you get used to its feature set, it becomes part of your thinking and can be a strong tool for creating astounding artwork. Let’s review a few pros and cons of CorelDRAW.

Er…How Do I Navigate?

First of all forget about the Space Bar equals Pan thesis. CorelDRAW has a navigator board but I must admit it’s not the real thing and most people don’t even know where it is (small box at the lower-right corner of the interface).

The easiest way to navigate is to zoom in and out to the pointer area with your mouse. This can be tricky sometimes if your mouse isn’t smooth enough. Sounds strange but once accustomed to this navigation technique you will get addicted to it. If you still feel lost grab the Hand Tool (H) to pan, and press spacebar to change back to the previous tool.

What About Freehand Brushes?

This is a real pain. CorelDraw’s freehand tools are only a concept but are nearly impossible to use them. Just try to do a quick hatching with the the freehand tool. You will end up with a mess, since you will continuously select the previously drawn lines.

It’s OK though, as this is not primarily freehand painting or sketching software. There are some other industry standard tools on the Corel palette (for example Painter) which excel in this field. But once again this is a week point since the core concept of the software is not to painting.

The World’s Best and Easiest Curves/Nodes Management

When you get down to the details you will be amazed how easy is to use the bezier tool and how precise its curve management is. If you are after vectorization then Corel Draw is great. Corel Draw is excellent software when it comes to vector tools. You have all the control over the nodes and curves with mathematical precision.

The right-click context menu makes vectorization so precise that technical illustration is easy to create. I take a deep bow in front of the team who developed this. This part is the strength of CorelDRAW from the dawn of vector software.

Super Fine Gradient Mesh

You need photo-realistic vectors? Just grab the super easy gradient mesh tool and you will make unbelievable vector portraits in no time. The Corel company has bundled photo-realistic art already in the version 8 clip art, and don’t forget the Hedy Lamar illustration on the cover of version 8. If you check the Corel community galleries you will find some gorgeous photo-realistic portraits, though the galleries are sometimes awkward and the community isn’t very exciting.

Highly Controllable Boolean Operations

I simply love this part of CorelDRAW. When you need to cut, weld, trim or intersect just open up the shaping docker and you have maximum control over the Boolean operations and the resulting shapes. Actually, you can base your style on these fine set of tools. Check them out for yourself.

Strange and Useful Effects

The effect palette is also a strength of CorelDRAW. I use these tools most of the time, especially the contour tool. Try some of this for extra options.

Color Separation and Prepress Goodness

If you’re working in the DTP business, CorelDRAW is your humble servant. It corrects your mistakes silently and makes color separation and prepress work as easy as it can be. The main concept of this software, the precision, has its word in the printing menu.

Screen Refreshing

If you want to spare yourself from getting upset, then don’t forget to press Command + W often to refresh the screen. CorelDRAW tends to forget to do this for you, which can be quite annoying sometimes.

Trace!

CorelDRAW has top notch tracing software integrated. It is quick, highly-customizable, and precise. Even if you don’t like other parts of the software, trying Corel Draw’s trace is a must. As a plus they have included a font recognition routine in the X4 version, which uses What the font! to find out what font was used on your scan. Nice idea!
