Throughout Tim Walkers breathtaking photoshoots I Found plenty of images that inspire the Butoh Fantasy Worlds in me, as I also found an abundance of inspiration for props/ sets/ costuming / etc…for theater and performance arte! YAY! Tim Walker has the Eye!

…women covered in leaves, blooming from plants, looking mythical and magical and all kinds of beautiful. But then the photos become all the more amazing when you realise that he never uses Photoshop or computers or any technology at all.

it’s all just crazy creative cleverness; like letting mould grow over a lens, or stacking lots of slides on top of each other.

Born in 1954 Matsue City, in the Shimane Prefecture of Japan, Nonami graduated from the Osaka Photography Academy in 1974  and founded his Studio No-ah in 1979.

Nonami is known for his gothic, dreamlike photographs of  statuesque women, and his work is described as reminiscent of mythology or classic art.

When you first see a Nonami photograph, you instantly think Photoshop – but think again.  All of Nonami’s images are made by hand using a number of techniques including letting mold grow on the film (to create stains and patterns), and stacking his slides to combine images.  Often times, Nonami cannot precisely tell what the resulting image will be and sometimes errors make for better images.

The Mandelbrot set is self-similar under magnification in the neighborhoods of the Misiurewicz points. It is also conjectured to be self-similar around generalized Feigenbaum points (e.g. −1.401155 or −0.1528 + 1.0397i), in the sense of converging to a limit set.^[15][16]

The Mandelbrot set in general is not strictly self-similar but it is quasi-self-similar, as small slightly different versions of itself can be found at arbitrarily small scales.

The little copies of the Mandelbrot set are all slightly different, mostly because of the thin threads connecting them to the main body of the set.

things we learned today:  1. heating is not necessary.  2. don’t forget the goddamn oil!  3. perfect fucking lounge-mobile.  hell yeah.

i got really jealous of this car for a hot second until i remembered how pimp my ride is.  okay so i can only hit 60mph on a good day but fuckkk youuu i promise i have street cred.

we went to see the desert bloom but when we got there we realized oh hey… it’s a desert i guess there are not that many plants around to bloom in the first place. doesn’t make the scenery any less gorgeous.

i’ll be honest… this bench was probably the coolest thing i saw today.  although we did find a mysterious box…

…with disappointingly banal contents.

i wish i had taken a photo of our picnic spread.  it was ridiculous.  but here is the aftermath:

after we all complained about how we’d just doubled our stomach mass we all came up with the same brilliant idea: devour apple-boysenberry pie like nobody’s business. why just double that stomach capacity when you can triple it?!

anyways. it was totally worth it for the cowboy wisdom. and boot cup!

It’s such a lovely machine, that if taken away from my person I wouldn’t have a clue what to do with myself. I would be utterly lost going about my days in blind stupor. I don’t know how many people have been effected by this godlike device but that is not what is important. I must enter the dream machine, it beckons me……..

I am president of the North American Union and everyone is praising me for my successful defeat of the Rising of Nazis trying to once again take over the world. I receive lavish gifts from the other leaders from each of the other respectable unions. Everyone is bowing down to me, I have gained the respect that I have been desiring for so long. They will learn that my power is almighty and if taken lightly they will know that I am to be taken seriously. I will bring down the iron fist on all who oppose my power…

I jump out of the dream machine… it’s time to depart for work. Time to spend twelve hours with no break in front a supercomputer typing codes and programs that will eventually be deleted of the system within the next week. This place is a bleak wasteland of dread. Everyone here are mindless drones working only to repeat the same over and over again. I must find a way to get out of this hellhole, but I am unable for the eye in the sky sees everything.

I make it through work where I can finally be reunited with my dearly beloved dream machine. I get in and lay down wondering what today’s adventure will be, but the dream machine will not activate. I begin to get hot and sweat heavily, I am nervous and panicking. What am I to do without my dream machine. What am I to do to help me get through the long dreary days of this depressed world. I begin looking over every orifice of the machine and see no problems. I begin gutting it seeing if there is anything eternal where I discover that the motherboard is fried, it overheated. There is nothing I can do. The state only issues one dream machine per household. Maybe I can steal one, but who would I get to help me? No one, because I know no one.

All ideas are futile because I lack the resources to execute any plan I think of. The days come and go without notice and I grow increasingly depressed with each passing day. There is no way for me to escape this dreadful reality… but wait… there is one way.

Another lackluster day at the office staring at these helpless souls who have no drive other than to repeat the same thing day in and day out. I’ve decided that this is it, I have had enough of this place, this world, this life. I get up out of my cubicle and begin walking to the elevator, knocking people out of my way that I will never have to deal with ever again. A smile stretches across my face. I see my boss and as I approach him I cock my fist back and give him a good one straight to the chin knocking him out cold.

I finally make it to the elevator and take it all the way to the top of the building. I’m here, the end is feet away. I walk towards the edge of the building, I do not hesitate in stopping to look over the edge to see how far I’ll drop down to my demise. No, I walk right off enjoying the fact that I’ll never see this world again. I finally make it to my sanctuary, I will never leave the dream machine…
