It’s clear this is the product of anti-American sentiment. “Better Picture?”  ”Make it more appealing?”  How dare they try to change me?!  Once my ego is mended, I’m getting back on the horse and taking it to a whole new level:

Este fin de semana leí las revistas dominicales de dos diarios las cuales “casualmente” hablaban del mismo tema (las comillas son porque uno sabe que el dinero pone a hablar el mismo idioma hasta a las piedras).

Hablaban sobre la experiencia de ir a ver un juego de béisbol en el estadium en donde, por supuesto, cabe destacar que la proporción  de VPI seguramente se acerca al 99,99% del total de asistentes.

El espacio público de unas gradas o preferencias de un estadium de béisbol (y seguramente de cualquier deporte aquí) es el paraíso terrenal de cuanto VPI amante del deporte (o de una buena bronca) exista en nuestro terruño.

En esas gradas estos personajes se desgañitan a insultar a los jugadores, al mánager, al Umpire, al que está sentado al lado, a Chávez, a Manuel Rosales, a Bush, a Bin Laden, a Mick Jagger y a cuanto objeto de su odio se les ocurra. Es una explosiva terapia de gritos para estos VPI (quienes sin embargo siguen gritando y agrediendo al salir del estadio y en los siguientes días como si no hubieran hecho ninguna catarsis pelotera)

Los VPI de gradas demuestran (también a grito pelado) su inconmensurable conocimiento sobre el deporte y sus más mínimos detalles. Ante ellos (dicen ellos mismos), Bob Abreu se cuadra mal para batear, Ozzie Guillén lo que sabe es jugar metras y Johan Santana es un sortario tirapiedras. Por todo lo que dicen ser y saber, con una selección de VPI jugando y dirigiendo tendríamos el Dream Team criollo en cualquier disciplina.

Las demostraciones más directas del VPI ocurren cuando taimados lanzan los vasos de cerveza para mojar a los demás y luego caerse a golpes con quien reclame o van “vestidos de civil” siendo Guardias Nacionales o Policías, esperando algún alzado gritón o lanzacervezas para sacar a relucir la placa que llevaban escondida (con toda la intención) antes de propinar cuanto insulto, golpe o patadas se le ocurra.

Otras demostraciones menores son las coleadas para entrar al estadio a los baños o para comprar, pero ya responden a una conducta habitual fácilmente localizable en cualquier otro ámbito de la vida cotidiana de nuestra ciudad.

UGHHHHH!!!

I’m so glad that today is Friday! This week seems as if it’s gone by ever so slowly and yet quick at the same time. I don’t know what’s up with that, but it sucks. The Glee soundtrack is making it a bit better. I can’t wait to get out of Shakespeare class and go see my skanks, also known as the Dream Team. Yeah, we’re cool like that. We may make shirts. Who knows? Anyjew. I want some Starbucks. I may grab some on my way home.

I also work this weekend. I am beyond happy that I am getting more hours. I love American Eagle. One thing I’m not really looking forward to: Black Friday, or as we like to call it Green Friday for obvious reasons. I bet you $10 the credit/debit system goes down like it always does! Gahhh! Oh wells! I suppose I should get ready for my Shakespeare class, huh?

It was almost exactly two years ago that I first read Twilight.  I know this because it was in the middle of NaNoWriMo—and it was distracting me to pieces.

Yes, of course I’d heard of it earlier than that.  I had a friend on LiveJournal who was beyond obsessed, and occasionally posted some fab fan art of the lovely Emily Browning as Bella, and if it weren’t for that, I may honestly never have read the book.  (Proof that I am a sucker for a pretty face, if nothing else!)  And then admittedly, the cover is gorgeous.  Actually, several of the international Twilight covers are gorgeous, as you’ll see a few sampled in this post.

I was trepidatious at best.  There was so much hype about these books (or so I thought, I should have waited a few months. Sigh) that I was almost positive that they couldn’t live up to it.  But admittedly, by the time I got to Port Angeles (that’s chapter 8, if your memory is fuzzy) I was so hooked I was breathing it in.  This was about the point where I fell for Edward.  I think it’s his extremely violent attitude towards the men who follow Bella down the street leering at her—which really is the worst possible reason to fall for a character, but sometimes it happens, yes/yes?

Before this, I have to admit I’d been squinting at the book a little bit, and trying to make it look less like Roswell in my head (I’m not the only person who’s made this comparison).  But Edward was such a… passionate gentleman, I guess you could say, which is really why anyone has ever fallen for him.  He’s exactly the conundrum women look for and can’t find, an extremely passionate person who’s also extremely polite.  As Anne Shirley puts it, someone who could be wicked… but wasn’t.  I was just as eager to learn about Edward as Bella was.  I even—embarrassingly, now—rolled my eyes whenever that kid Jacob came around, because oh my gosh, I want Edward, thanks.  (This was not to last.  Well, for the most part the Edward-love stuck around, but it was often far outstripped by my love for Jacob Black… but that’s another book. Or three.)

I thought nearly every sentence in the book was witty or clever or quotable.  I loved Bella’s quirky, misanthropic voice.  And I loved how clearly you see every single detail in the books.

I admit, this obsessive love lasted straight through the second and third book, but as many have discovered (or I guess don’t need to discover now that it’s so huge), it was very difficult for me to put my infatuation into words.  Hard to admit, blatantly, that I had even read anything as ridiculous as a book about a vampire that sparkles in the sun.  I didn’t want to talk about it out loud.  (Though I did, without hesitation, force Isabelle to read them with me—she actually finished the series—through Eclipse—long before I did).  I realized later that there is very little defendable about the books (there really is something ghastly about a girl who basically wants to die for her first boyfriend) but it’s something I push away when I’m actually reading the book – because then I just exist in that tiny little world of Forks, and I admit… I sort of like it there.

I’d go into how NOT Emily Browning Kristen Stewart is in the movie, or how when I get through the end of the books, my brain literally hurts when I think about Bella and her decisions, not to mention the fact that Stephanie Meyer sort of sets up “Love” and “Freedom of Choice” as direct opposites in the series… I’d even go into my frustrations as a Harry Potter fan when the two series are compared… but this is about Twilight, the novel.    A novel I’m sort of tempted to go and restart, right now.  Because whatever else I have to say about Stephenie Meyers’ books the fact is, they bring me back.  Time and time again.

So Twilight, the first novel in the series, that simple girl meets vampire book, gets an A from me.

6- Ian McEwan (l’auteur qui m’a donné envie d’apprendre l’écriture créative à East Anglia et que j’ai étudié en maîtrise, à travers l’ouvrage First Love, Last Rites). Et il me dit quoi, lui ? “Tu marches sur mes traces en suivant à ton tour la formation à East Anglia, bientôt ton premier recueil de nouvelles. Alterner innocence et provocation dans l’écriture, ma recette favorite, la tienne aussi, peut-être ?”

7-J.D Salinger (le mystérieux auteur de The Catcher in the Rye, roman culte sur l’adolescence aux USA). Son conseil ? “Ne recherche pas à devenir un personnage public mais écris un ouvrage mythique. Utilise l’argot, montre des personnages qui sont soit enfants, soit qui comprennent les enfants.”

8-Julia Cameron (auteure de la méthode artistique Libérez votre créativité, scénariste et auteure). Que me dit-elle ? “Tous les jours écris 3 pages, le matin au réveil. Il se peut qu’au bout d’un moment, sans t’en rendre compte, tu aies écrit un début de roman. Au bout d’un mois, tu auras 90 pages ! Alors, essaie…”

9-Jill Kargman (auteure du très marrant Momzillas, THE bouquin de chick-lit). Et elle, alors ? “Ecris donc sur la maternité. Observe les mères qui t’entourent. Ecoute leurs histoires et tu as, avant même de t’en douter, matière à un roman qui peut se vendre à gros tirage. Ne lésine surtout pas sur l’humour ni la caricature, copie le style des magazines féminins et tu y es.”

10-Euh, moi, parce que je dois être dedans et je m’autoproclame, capitaine de ma dream team littéraire !

Super Junior Eunhyuk has confirmed to have a regular spot for him on the show KBS2TV “Let’s go Dream team season 2″.

Eunhyuk while attending the show hadnt mind doing all the extreme physical activities as well as always bring the bright asmotphere to the show. Many fans had left comments on the show’s bulletin board to express their wish for Eunhyuk to become regular member on the show.

Jeon Jinhak, producer of “Dream team 2″ said “The decision for Eunhyuk to be regular guest on the show was temporary. Eunhyuk himself had expressed his wish to become regular member of the show and because the production team have agreed so from now on, we plan to let him to be our show’s regular guest”.

According to Jeon producer, Eunhyuk has become a big help for the show after Jo Sungmo’s ankle injury “After seeing his active image on the November 11th filming day, we decided to give him a chance”.
