Anberlin – Feel Good Drag (Tiger Cover)
A remake from Never Take Friendship Personal, this version is already a top ten modern rock hit.

Jon McLaughlin – Beating My Heart
The follow up album featured this song with a decidedly dance/pop direction not seen in his previous work.

Switchfoot – This Is Home From The Prince Caspian Soundtrack and the new song on their greatest hit collection. Switchfoot managed to weather the storm of being dropped from their label, and Jon Foreman found time for 4 solo ep’s and a side band called Fiction Family. Look forward to new music in 2009.

Bob Dylan – Dreamin of You
The first single from what was my favorite Dylan album since 1989’s Oh Mercy

Brandon Heath – Give Me Your Eyes
Just a great song

Cool Hand Luke – Buy The Truth
Cool Hand Luke returned with this single from their “The Sleeping House” album and with lyrics like “If I had a dime for every dollar I’ve wasted trying to be happy …” you know you will be challenged and enlightened.

Falling Up – Good Night Planetarium
From 2007’s Captiva and also on their Best of collection released in 2008. Another fine song from this under-rated band.

Family Force 5 – Dance or Die
Fever was the first single but I liked the 70’s vibe to this one better

The Myriad – A Thousand Winters Melting
Great imagery and over a great drum track.

Fireflight – Unbreakable
This got some added exposure from NBC TV

House of Heroes – In the Vally of the Dying Sun
House of Heroes were back to rescue the pop/punk/emo genre mixing in some “classsic and prog rock sensibilities”

Jars of Clay – Closer
The boys from Jars of Clay are always able to surprise and this song is a pleasant one

Krystal Meyers – Shine and Make Some Noise
I didn’t expect to like this album but these two singles were irrisistable. The change to dance/pop suits her fine now if only I could dance.

We Shot the Moon – Sway Your Head
I expected this album to be bigger than it was but it wasn’t for of a lack of great pop songs like this one.

Seabird – Rescue
I predicted that this band would break out this year. The band made several top ten lists and this song got to exposure on the TV show Pushing Daisies promos.

Onerepublic – Apologize
With a live appearance last New years eve this song spent alot of time topping the charts.

Bon Voyage – Monster
A welcome return after a long absence

The Afters – Myspace Girl
A humorous, but true story in this clever little song

First of all let me make a confession that my favorite Bob Dylan album is 1989’s Oh Mercy. So with 8 of the tracks coming from the Oh Mercy era there was a good chance I would like this release. Out-takes, alternate versions and live tracks can make for an uneven album, but the fact that these two discs are so strong attests to the genius that is Bob Dylan. The alternate tracks equal or surpass their previous versions , the outtakes leave you wondering why they were left off in the first place and the live versions seem to leap out of the speakers.  Front to back this is the most engaging album since Oh Mercy. Tell Tale Signs might whet your appetite for the albums these sessions come from, but they set such a high standard maybe you’ll be disappointed!

Here is the filmclip to the song “Dreamin’ of you” which was written in 1997 for the “Time out of Mind” sessions. If you listen to the lyrics you will find many lines from songs from Time out of Mind such as “Standing in the Doorway” and “Not Dark Yet”.
Harry Dean Stanton plays a bootlegger following Dylan around to archive his music. Archived Dylan footage is included throughout the filmclip.

Check out bobdylan.com. You can download a free, previously unreleased track called “Dreamin’ Of You“. You can also pre-order the album that song will appear on, the forthcoming next entry in Dylan’s official bootleg series, volume 8, called Tell Tale Signs.

While the bootleg series’ volumes 4 through 7 have been live albums from different parts of Dylan’s career, Tell Tale Signs returns to the format of the initial release of volumes 1-3: it’s a mix of out-takes, alternate versions, and live tracks. That first triple-CD set covered rare tracks from Dylan’s start in the early ’60s up to the late ’80s. Volume 8 covers from the early ’90s to the present. “Dreamin’ Of You” is an unreleased song recorded in the Time Out of Mind era, and is a pretty straightforward rock tune. I don’t imagine volueme 8 will approach the staggering range and quality of volumes 1-3; naturally, all of completists will buy it and love it because it’s still better than most everything else.

Ah, que saudade! É bom vê-lo de volta, melhor do que nunca. E ainda dói aquele show aqui no Brasil, tão caro que me impediu de vê-lo.

Dreamin’ of You traz de volta muitas memórias – de suas canções, de suas fotos, de seus cigarros, de suas entrevistas. Tantos tentaram recriá-lo, mas você permanece um enigma. Cat Power já disse, mas preciso repetir: “Can you please be my man?”

En él se recogen descartes de las sesiones de grabación de “Oh Mercy”, “World Gone Wrong”, “Time Out of Mind” y “Modern Times”, así como diversas contribuciones para bandas sonoras de películas y temas en directo.

El single promocional es “Dreamin’ of you”, un descarte de “Time Out of Mind”, y este es su vídeo oficial, protagonizado por Harry Dean Stanton:

We all know the great Bob Dylan, and now he has released a new single from his upcoming compilation of “unissued recordings”, The Bootleg Series Vol. 8 – Tell Tale Signs: Rare and Unreleased 1989-2006, (Not exactly his best album title ever) due out this October.  

The first single from Bob Dylan’s upcoming release ‘Tell Tale Signs’ is available. The song “Dreamin’ Of You” is a bluesy rambling out-take from Time Out Of Mind.  I am not sure why it didn’t make the cut as I like it as well as anything from “Time Out Of Mind”
