It’s often difficult to find a good, appealing yet cheap bridesmaid dresses that can fit well in you

It’s often difficult to find a good, appealing yet cheap bridesmaid dresses that can fit well in your budget and at the same time add that classic touch to your wedding. But with little sartorial insights your task of choosing a perfect bridesmaids dresses can be much easier.

The haute couture bridesmaids dresses

These are some of the popular types of bridesmaids’ gowns. Once you know which type is really your kind of style, you can select much faster:

A-Line or Princess: It suits almost every figure. Since this style of bridesmaids dress looks good on every bone and flesh size, it would be wise to go for A-line style bridesmaid dress to suit all your bridesmaids irrespective how different their figures may be.

Empire: This looks good on most of the maids. Especially if your maid is petite, this style of bridesmaids gown can help her look taller. The loose fit waist is good for pregnant maids. But don’t think of this gown if your maid is on the heavier side.

BallGown: If all your bridesmaids are of similar size then it’s a great idea to go for ballgowns. Ballgowns may not look good if your maids vary in the sizes. It can make smaller maids look smaller and taller maid looks taller. It looks great on buxom maids.

Sheath: Same as ballgowns, this type of gowns is advisable when your bridesmaids do not differ much in sizes.

What colors shall you go for?

Every good and planned wedding carries a color theme. The color of your bridesmaids dress can accentuate the theme of your wedding. Here are a few tips that can help you to decide what colors may make Susy look great and what can be horrid for Rozy.

Blond and fair skin: Pastels, Navy, Hunter, Orangy-Reds, Salmon, Turquoise, Dark Purple look great on blond hair and fair skin. Good colors for this hair/skin types are Black, Jewel Tones,
Browns, Burgundy, Blues, and Cobalt. The colors that should be avoided for this hair/skin types are light to medium shades of Grey and Silver

Asian: If you maid is Asian or has that Asian touch in her hairs and skin you can opt for Jewel Tones, Reds, Ivory, Turquoise, Jade Green and Purple. Black, Navy, Hunter, Burgundy, Fuschia can also be a good idea but be careful if you are liking Light Greys, Light Yellow, Mint and Mauve.

African Medium: The bridesmaid gown in colors like Navy, Jewel Tones, Reds, Silver, Gold, Salmon and Purple can make your maids look elegant while Light Yellow, Mint and Taupe can be little more than the daring colors.

African Dark: If you want your African dark maid to complement your dressing, try Jewel Tones, Reds, Silver, Gold, Salmon, Oranges, Fuschia, Lime, Black, Navy, Hunter, Burgundy, Blues, Ivory, Purple and Cobalt. She may not feel comfortable in Light Yellow, Mint,
Lavender and White.

Red-Head / Fair: Seeing her in colors like Emerald Green, Navy, Ivory, Brown, Hunter Green,
Peach, Purple, Black, Hunter, Blues, Mustard, Rust, Olive, Turquoise, Teal and Gold would be pleasing while the colors that can gloom her brighter looks are Yellow, Blue-Reds, Mint,
and Mauve.

Brunette / Olive: Red, Hunter Green, Navy can be best for her but even if you are looking for something in the shades of Brown, Cobalt, Fuschia or the Charcoal, Burgundy and Peach, she can steal the appreciation of onlookers. But do not let her feel low by choosing Aqua and Light Yellow for this hair/skin type.

Brunette / Fair: Emerald green looks great on her and so does the Red. Fuschia, Navy can make her look serene while Peach, Black, Hunter, Burgundy, Gold and Ivory can brighten up her beauty. But light shades of Blue, Yellow and Green ….let’s not make her look dull on your wedding day.

Pricing of the Bridesmaids Gown
For some all rare clothing is precious and for some all precious clothing is rare. You have to decide what should be the budget of your bridesmaids’ gown. If you are looking for variety and compare prices before you buy, it’s good to find bridesmaid dresses online.

Cheap bridesmaid dresses or discount at bridesmaid dresses can be easily grabbed if you can spend some time over internet. There are many online gowns store that offer unique bridesmaid dresses at discounted rates. The discounted rate always doesn’t mean compromise with the quality. Such offers can be for so many other reasons like piling of stock, promotional offers, etc.

First Lady Michelle Obama made Jason Wu a household name when she wore his white gown to the presidential Inaugural ball, and she’s bound to have the name Naeem Khan on the tongues of women across the country over the holiday after wearing one of his designs to her first, India-themed, State Dinner last night in Washington D.C. “I feel so happy to be a part of this historical event between the two countries where my heart lies,” the India-born designer tells PEOPLE. “I am relieved to have a job well done and am so honored to have been chosen. This is a Thanksgiving in its truest form for me and one that I will never forget — an American dream coming true.” The designer, who immigrated to the U.S. as a teenager, looked to the theme of the dinner to create Mrs. Obama’s one-of-a-kind sterling silver sequin dress with an abstract floral motif, which the First Lady accented with dramatic Bochic earrings. No wonder Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh said in his toast that he was “overwhelmed…by the grace and charm of the First Lady.”

Malak El Ezzawy, one of our favorite local evening wear designers, tributes the “Little Black Dress” this fall with her limited edition collection. What I love, is that it is a perfect addition to my LBD post (posted a couple of weeks ealier, click here). As mentioned before, the LBD transcends time and trends and is the perfect “throw it on and still look chic” dress. A staple in every woman’s wardrobe, just like a man’s white chemise. Below is a sample preview of her limited edition collection, more on this Facebook link, and in store at the Melodies Atelier at 24 Tharwa St., Mohandeseen, ground floor.

Malak’s LBD collection is full of lace, as we call it in Egypt, dentelle. The dress below worn by Menna Shalaby is a dentelle top with a chiffon and tulle skirt and a sexy low back.

Menna Shalaby wearing Malak's LBD

This LBD is the perfectly structured tube dress, which I believe, will be flattering to many. The dress is very futuristic (which I don’t usually like, but this is cool). I also love how the designer utilized both polka dot and stripped prints on one canvas.

Polka Dot & Stripped Structured LBD

This matte paillette, aka sequined, one shoulder LBD is IT! The fall season is all about embellishment & sequins, in addition to asymmetric dresses. I guess this LBD is an ALL-IN-ONE must have!

Matte Paillette One Shoulder LBD

I decided to end this post on the perfectly simple, yet sexy, LBD. The uniqueness of this dress comes not only from its simplicity but its texture. Velvet is a material that faded away for a while, but is back it style and feels very rich.

posted by Gidge Uriza

When I was new on the grid, I stumbled into a store that had clothes that weren’t cheap (to an unemployed girl they weren’t). But – they were spectacular. And they were vastly different and BETTER than anything my blingtard friends were sporting. I immediately fell in love with the possibilities of fashion here on the grid.

That store was then called X3D – and you know it now as Digit Darkes.

I’m wearing a new release from her that she put on sale the other day – the Andreas Dress, in Copper. Like all of her work- it’s stunning, front AND back.

Don’t you agree?

I have another announcement. This is my first pair of prim feet shoes.

These are from the good people at Kalnins. I am terribly intimidated by prim feet and the tinting involved even with their handy dandy HUD. My problem is, I don’t want to WORK to be able to wear things. So – my only indictment isn’t of KALNINS shoes but of the entire prim feet style. I do want to say that their HUD was reasonable easy to figure out, and it did take me about 10 minutes but I got it pretty close to right.

It almost seems like the prim shoe folk and the skinners should get together and make all of our lives easier. BUT, these were reasonably easy to figure out for a lazy girl like me AND – I liked the look of them with this sassy dress.

I suspect this means I’ll be breaking out some more of the pretty shoes Kalnin’s has sent me since I’m not afraid of them anymore.

Can you believe that the total bill for a prom nowadays can add up to $1,000 or more? Think about the cost of doing your nails, renting a limo, doing your hair just right, taking pictures, getting the right shoes, etc, etc, etc. Your head will probably hurt from thinking about it and so will your wallet. How can you afford all of this…? You can because there’s actually tons of prom dresses under 100 dollars to choose from, so that part of the expense won’t be a major one.

If you just can’t bear to hear your parents bemoan the fact that they don’t have lots of cash to blow on your prom and the economy is bad, don’t worry – it’s not hard to find prom dresses under 100 dollars. There are even dozens of styles online and lots of colors to choose from.

Don’t even being to worry that it’s unsafe to order over the internet. Questions like: How will I be sure that my measurements are right and will the dress fit me, will it look just as good on my body as it does on the web… Buying online will mean that you join over one hundred thousand girls that buy their under $100 prom dresses online every prom season.

This year especially (2009), shopping has become easier and sensitive to your needs. Websites now often ask or help you figure out your dress size. Typically, you can also to enter in your measurements, ensuring that the dress you order will fit you. This might help you save on alterations later on, too.

It just doesn’t make sense to pay $300-$500 for a designer dress when you can get a prom dress under $100 that look just as good as the foo-foo fancy ones. It used to be that cheapo dresses that didn’t make the cut were put into the under $100 prom dresses category. In a complete about-face, now there are designer prom dresses that are specifically being made for people who can’t afford the expensive ones!

Go west, young woman, or at least surf the internet to get the perfect prom dress under $100 for you.

this is simplicity 3673. normally, i’m not a big fan of simplicity patterns (their sizing is always a little off – more on that later), but i like this vintage reissue from the 50s. i also had this fabric:

that i bought at a yard sale for $1. paired up with a vintage zipper from my stash (i always buy them for pennies at the thrift store, and i actually had one on hand that was the correct length AND color… pretty convenient!), this dress was super cheap/easy to make.

like i said, the sizing was a little off… when i make my patterns, i size mine based on the measurements on the pattern tissue, not the pattern envelope. some patterns (like, ahem, this simplicity pattern) will not mention the included amount of ease – for this particular pattern, it was 4″! yikes! (non-sewers: ease is the amount of “space” in a garment beyond body measurements. for the record, for my fitted garments, i prefer about 0.5″ to 1″ of ease). the pattern tissue will generally provide the finished measurements – ease included – for the bust, hips, and waist. i find it much easier to sew that way than to cut something too big and spend hours trying to alter it down (or worse… cut something too small that doesn’t fit :’( been there, done that, hate it). however, apart from the sizing – which was easily fixed by cutting down a couple sizes – this pattern was easy peasy! there are only 4 pattern pieces, not counting the attached belt. the waistline shaping comes from 8 darts around the middle. that’s it! had i not spent over an hour trying to figure out how to use the blind hem on my machine, this dress would have taken me less than 2 hours total.

i really did try to match the plaid up on this, but the plaid design is so large, i eventually gave up and figured it’s good enough for a $2 dress. i think the black bow/belt in the middle helps break up the plaidness.

the back is scruched up because of how i’m standing. can you see the little kick pleat the bottom?

a bit more of a close-up of the front.

vintage zipper and interior details – lining, serging.

The temperature in LA has dipped low enough to keep me snuggled up indoors for the majority of the day. Despite the chilly weather, I’m excited for the coming holiday season! I love seeing all the stores decked out in Christmas decor and it reminds me that it’s a good time to start thinking about picking up some fun holiday dresses.

BCBGMAXAZRIA One Shoulder Satin Dress ($248) BCBG dresses were always a staple at my college banquets and this one is absolutely perfect. It’s clean-cut enough to wear to office holiday parties, but still offers a sassy kick with the gorgeous zipper-lined shoulder bow and pockets (still loving pockets oh so much!). One shoulder anything reminds me of this horrific red one shoulder shirt I wore back in high school and as such, I haven’t been able to bring myself to go back to that style ever again. However, this dress just might be enough to quell that memory. Being that 20-something in the office means we have to walk that thin line between classy and youthful–this dress manages to promise both!

Arden B. Taffeta Ruffle Front Dress ($78) The strapless mini is my fallback for all my evening wear dilemmas. The silhouette has never failed me in presenting a fitted, slim, and mature look… even when I feel like over-indulging at those holiday gatherings. The added touch of the pleated ruffles (for that GORGEOUS neckline) and banded high-waist also sets this dress apart from the other strapless dresses I already own. This is my favorite must-have for the season based on look and price. Can’t wait to see how it looks on!

Despite how much I love my dresses, it’s a shame that us girls can’t wear them (usually) to more than one main event. That leaves me thinking twice before spending too much on a dress I’ll never see again. Luckily, I found some more affordable options for the social butterflies out there who need a few options for the season.

Forever21 High Sheen Dress ($22.80) It’s easy to think of red as being the go-to color during this time of year, but this deep violet dress would be a great contrast on anyone’s skin! The sweetheart neck and layered skirt are fun and flirty. Pair this up with some gold strappy heels and a long strand of pearls for a dressed up and sophisticated look. My only concern about this dress would be that sometimes F21 tends to make their frocks awkwardly too short, so hopefully it’s not the case with this one! I suppose we must give up something for not paying $322 for the Foley + Corinna version.

Forever21 Sparkling Tiered Dress ($24.80) This is another take on the tiered skirt, but the high waistband and sequined layers are perfect! This dress mimics another dress I have from the summer and I’m loving that this would be a comfortable choice for dancing the night away. Since it’s black, I wouldn’t have to worry about the sequins looking tacky as long as I don’t over-accessorize. The key would be to balance out the dress with some colorful heels and a simple long necklace.

Happy dancing, ladies!

I reeeeeeally love the fashion we’ve had for the past year or so. Skinny jeans, leggings, flowy skirts, ankle boots, long scarves, hundreds of bracelets. The whole deal!

But, unfortunately, I haven’t been blessed with a fast metabolism so I’m in the chubby side of things. Make it near-obese.

My legs are deffinitely not the shape to be adorned with tight fitting clothes but do I care? I should…

But I don’t.

Long tops or short dresses are my solution and it works bloody well! Also in a darker colour and with a nice flattering cleavage, no one will mind the fact you’ve got a few extra pounds. It’s not a problem fixer, but it’s a damn good curtain over it.

Here’s a nice example:

I would go for a longer top, although not much more. There’s always a precise length which covers all we don’t like and still looks great.

Having said that, I’m going to finish dressing up and head out for the shopping centre.

Oh today has been soo up there on the awesomesauce scale. I gots to hang out with Noodle, it’s been so long, the timezone thinger sucks pus. We bought all sorts of fabutastic stuff before she dragged me (yes dragged kicking and screaming) to Runoruno to check out the newness.

Shown above is the After Ballet Class Skirt and the Weave Jacket. Yup total yum, and the perfect foil for my Riding Boots from Coco, which I had picked up a few weeks before the Footwear Expo. There are alot of prims, so be prepared for some editing, although Ms Runo is kind enough to not only provide her hip measurements, but also editing instructions for newer players, not bad ay!

Ah my fabulous new Lace-Up Workboots from Coco. They are made of so much bloody win I don’t know where to start. Wear em loose, wear em normal, even wear them with handy dandy denim cuffs so you have an attachment point free for your jeans. Yea, you heard right Although I have to say, at 4am, I found the cuffs confuzling, and it was decided by persons other than myself that sleep was needed, mmhm. The skirt is also brand spanking new from Runorono, it’s The Patent Skirt. I’m wearing it with the top of the Silk Dress, which is deliciously sheer, and a purchase I made months ago with Sasy giggling at me in voice. Now back to packing, I’m moving in a few days, and I for one cannot fucking wait. Ash Out.
