basically, this is amazing.

Activating star power in Guitar Hero by throwing a mean shape is fun and all, but can you imagine your avatar going bat-shit crazy in real-time, copying your moves as you jump around like a lunatic to the end of Free Bird? If anything it’s a funny image, but one that could be a reality in Guitar Hero 6.

In an interview with the Seattle Times, Guitar Hero founder Kai Huang confirmed that Neversoft were exploring the possibilities of integrating Natal into the next game, which will be due for release next Autumn.

Here’s the short-short version of what Guitar Hero founder Kai Huang said in the interview:

“We haven’t made any specific announcements of what we’re doing with new technologies in Guitar Hero 6 and beyond, but one of the areas we’re exploring certainly is camera technology and what you can do — track your movements and maybe have your characters on the screen do certain things you’re doing, or personalize it more so it can look more like you on stage rather than just be an avatar,” he said.

“There are a lot of possibilities that technologies like Natal will bring, and we’re definitely exploring those possibilities.”

Meanwhile Dhani Harrison, told the Chicago Tribune that Harmonix were going for a much more realistic feel with Rock Band 3:

“I’m working on Rock Band 3 and making the controllers more real so people can actually learn how to play music while playing the game,” Harrison told the paper. “Give me a couple years, it’s going to happen”.

All together now – ‘WHEN TWO TRIBES GO TO WAR!!!’ Is that in Rock Band? No? Ah well….

Move over Steve and PEART… there’s yet another robotic drummer in town. [Fauzii] tipped us off to his own MIDI-controlled creation – WizardFingers. According to him, WizardFingers is already capable of 64th note rolls at over 250 beats per minute. That’s on every drum simultaneously. Each drum is hit with a lever attached to a linear pneumatic actuator. A laptop running MAX/MSP generates MIDI sequences, which are sent to Doepfer MTC64 board. All of these actuators are hooked up to the board, which sets them off in sequence.

[Fauzii] ultimately hopes to develop AI software that will allow WizardFingers to compose its own tunes on not only a drum kit, but bar chimes and an organ as well. His site documents the whole concept quite well (just watch out for wild cats).

A 2,000-year-old bronze drum and statue of the sacred cow Nandin are being displayed at the Quang Tri Museum to mark the 64th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23, 1945).

2,00-year-old bronze drum is being displayed at the Quang Tri Museum.

The drum was recently unearthed in Tra Loc village, Hai Xuan Commune, Hai Lang District in the central province of Quang Tri.

The statue of holy cow Nandin was found in an ancient Champa tower in Kim Dau village, Cam An Commune, Cam Lo District in the province.

According to the ancient Champa people, the Nandin Bull was a pure white bull that the Hindu God Shiva rode on. The sacred cow was also considered a lord of the castle.

The two antiques are now being presented to the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism for recognition as national cultural heritage items.

In tradition, I start off with a picture of a subway. Man, subways are awesome.

Kicking off the start of this blog, I should bring nothing less but pure awesome. In this case there will be nothing less. Here, I introduce to you the latest from RAM Records call the Dimensions 4 EP. This is the latest addition in the Dimensions series, with it’s previous release being almost two years ago. The fourth installment of the series has gone in a completely different direction of it’s predecessor. Dimensions 4 brings some very techy sort of darker cuts.

The first track, ‘Deception’ from Noisia only promises a killer. With previous tracks such as ‘Facade VIP’ and his remix of Pendulum’s ‘Painkiller’, he continues to live up to his destructive name. The track is very bass intensive and something so hard to not bounce around to. It’s ridiculously good and shows a side of Noisia one hasn’t seen in his previous tracks. Track two, ‘Gears’ from Culture Shock is an interesting addition the signature RAM sound. It’s somewhat reminiscent of Mistabishi’s ‘I Feel LOL’ as far as the liquidity of the track goes. It’s definitely a fun track to bounce around to and get stuff done with.

Track’s three and four are definite killers. Lomax brings the terror of Bristol with his track ‘Jungle FX’. It’s a glitchy, jungly, bassy take on Jungle predecessors and what’s happening in the state of dnb today. Track four is from someone who has done many collaborations with Lomax. The man behind the track ‘No Respect’ is, of course, Xample alongside Jakes. For those who don’t recognize these two relatively new names in the game, Xample did a fabulous remix to Chase & Status’ ‘Against All Odds’ and produced the track Contra. Jakes on the other hand, is a dubstep producer. His biggest and most notorious song is Warface (specifically D*Minds remix of it). No doubt the song is harder than World War II veterans.

This EP undoubtedly brings everything you would expect from RAM. A must snatch, definitely.

Mai exact, A Complete History of My Sexual Failures, un film pe care il aveam de mult trecut pe lista de vazut, la recomandarea lui Radu (si daca nici el nu stie ce sa propuna ). Il recomand dar sa nu va asteptati la o capodopera, este un film bunicel care insa ridica intrebari. Si te pune pe gandit cu unele scene. Si asta il face sa fie un film bun. Sa-l vedeti, merita.

Dar nu despre acest film voiam sa scriu ci, plecand de la el si mai ales de la ultimele 8 minute din film, voiam sa scriu si sa duc mai departe gandurile legate de o relatie. De acea relatie pe care o cautam cu totii. Acest om isi reia, in cadrul filmului, toate relatiile avute pana la momentul filmarii, incercand sa descopere ce nu a fost in regula, ce si unde a gresit atat de mult si de des incat toate fostele iubite l-au parasit. Mai devreme sau mai tarziu, mai frumos sau mai dur, l-au parasit. Un om care are multe probleme, care este departe de modelul social de succes al epocii noastre. Si totusi, un om care, la fel ca oricare altul, isi cauta locul in lume, isi cauta drumul sau si cel mai important, face toate astea fara a schimba nimic din ceea ce constituie felul sau de a fi – bun sau rau, de-a lungul anilor ramane la fel.

Finalul filmului subliniaza exact aceasta idee – nu trebuie sa incerci sa fii altul decat esti, nu are sens sa te tranformi pe tine doar pentru a fi pe placul celor de langa. Chiar si pretul unui lung sir de dezamagiri, a fi tu insati este mai important. Si atunci cand reusesti sa te impaci cu asta si sa devii constient de ceea ce esti si poti fi, cand devii confortabil cu tine, acea relatie devinde posibila. In cele mai ciudate situatii si in cele mai aiurite locuri, persoana pe care sa o simti partenera va deveni vizibila. Pentru ca de fapt, in tot acest timp, din toate aceste experiente acumulate, nu facem altceva decat sa ne crestem pe noi insine, sa devenim mai buni si mai puternici la ceea ce este cel mai important: sa fim noi.

Autorul care este si personaj principal rezuma totul cu o replica memorabila: “I’ve been dumped by some really nice girls” In putine si haioase cuvinte spune atat de multe, caci chiar daca am lasat in urma noastra amintiri ce poate dor, am ramas de-a lungul timpului fara persoane care au insemnat atat de mult pentru noi, numai faptul ca am avut aceste persoane langa noi, chiar si pentru putina vreme, inseamna ca am existat. Si ca din toate aceste experiente am castigat ceva, am crescut catre a deveni cu adevarat noi insine. Poate de multe ori simtim aceste amintiri ca fiind dureroase si ne putem simti frustrati pentru ca au ramas doar atat, amitiri. Dar daca facem un pas in spate, cautand sa vedem filmul vietii noastre asa cum s-a derulat, intelegand intentiile si abordarea regizoriala aplicata este mult mai usor sa acceptam unde am ajuns si ceea ce am devenit. Si nu-i putin lucru sa stii asta. Fiecare experienta avuta, odata acceptata si asimilata cu adevarat, ne duce mai departe pe propriul drum. Pentru asta insa, nu trebuie sa lasam in urma amintiri inchise si dureri ascunse – tocmai acestea sunt cele care ne pot tine pe loc, ne pot inchide intr-o bucla din care cu greu te poti desprinde pentru a-ti continua calea. Poate una din cele mai importante datorii pe care ni le avem este sa nu lasam in urma povesti ingropate si neincheiate. Sa incercam sa avem dulapul curat. Trecutul ne poate ajuta sa crestem dar numai atunci cand suntem liberi fata de el. Cand suntem inca legati de trecut, pasii facuti sunt mici, munciti cu greu si de cele mai multe ori fara zambete.

Cea mai buna cale este cea cu suflet. Cand ai de facut o alegere, cel mai bun prieten iti este inimia caci ea isi stie drumul. A Complete History of My Sexual Failures

Astazi: muzeul BMW. Pasionatii de masini vor fi super incantati de locatie si automobile, cei mai putin pasionati – de arhitectura si concept, deopotriva de masini. O intreaga istorie a automobilului se gaseste aici, de asemenea un simulator auto BMW (gratis, 8 minute, drum cu gheata) – care sa va demonstreze performantele masinilor in conditii dificile de drum, un magazin de suveniruri, si expozitii temporare gazduite de complex.

Conceptul care a stat la baza muzeului pune accentul pe importanta locatiei ca muzeu de brand si pe fascinatia pe care o exercita marca BMW si produsele sale. A rezultat o arhitectura de vis ce imbina tendintele contemporane cu liniile arhitecturale istorice. La randul lor exponatele acopera mai mult de 90 de ani iar tematica expozitiei permanente se intinde dincolo de prezentarea cronologica a automobilelor.

Conceptul consta intr-o cladire circulara ca un drum ce se termina intr-un spatiu inchis, de asemenea sapte “cladiri” diferite ca identitate si tema abordata: House of Design, House of the Company, House of the Motorcycle, House of Technology, House of Motor Sport, House of the Brand si House of the Series. Imagini puteti vedea mai jos, mai e de notat faptul ca accesul la muzeul BMW este facil, aflandu-se la cativa pasi de statia de metrou Olympiazentrum (linia U3). In imediata vecinatate se mai gasesc acvariul din Munchen, turnul de observatie ce gazduieste “Rock Museum” si centrul olimpic.

Tot la Gogu Kaizer am vazut si un semi-flashmob in Plaza Romania.Zic semi deoarece flashmob-urile sunt spontane si nu se prea stie de ele.Ei au avut si camera-man si s-au mai si incalzit acolo inainte sa inceapa deci lumea s-a cam prins cam care-i treaba.In orice caz,e ceva demn de laudat avand in vedere ca acest fenomen este prea putin prezentat la noi.

Când ai plecat n-am plâns dar te-am căutat prin zapadă ca şi cum aş fi pierdut cheia casei şi nu mai aveam unde mă întoarce. Nopţile au început să rămână cu ochii larg deschişi contemplându-mi tăcute neputinţa de a-ţi atinge inima cu degetele. Ningea atât de des cu tăceri c-au troienit lumea îmăprţind-o în două, cea din care plecasei şi cea în care nu te vei mai întoarce. Atunci am început să te scriu şi pentru că îmi era teamă să nu rămâi într-o parte de lume în care eu nu aveam cum să ajung te-am scris pe mine, umărul tău pe umărul meu, palma în palmă, genunchiul sub genunchi, glezna lângă gleznă, buzele peste buze şi tot aşa până când într-o bună zi cuvintele s-au desfrunzit de înţelesuri şi-au început să cadă goale prin mine izbindu-se de podea ca şi cum n-aş fi existat decât în închipuire. Atunci am început să plâng iar lacrimile te-au făcut să curgi peste mine în şiroaie de cerneală violet. Nu îndrăzneam să mă uit în oglindă, îmi era teamă că voi vedea cum dispar şi eu odată cu tine. Mi-am privit din greşeală palmele şi am văzut că se ştersese linia inimii, linia vietii, linia destinului şi în locul lor apăruseră drumuri, toate cu un singur sens : interzis. Am închis ochii să nu văd semnele. Pipăiam drumul cu vârful degetelor să-ţi găsesc urmele dar le ştersese ploaia.
Apoi, într-o dimineaţă fără nume am cules toate lacrimile în care mai rămăseseră cuvinte întregi şi am venit să ţi le aduc sperând că tu le vei da un înţeles. La vama dintre lumi m-au întrebat dacă am ceva de declarat, nu puteam să le vorbesc, cuvintele le ţineam bine ascunse şi le-am arătat palmele gândindu-mă că vor citi in ele. Dintr-o dată au început să privească în jur căutând ceva şi am înţeles că pe mine nu mă mai găseau, doar tu mă vedeai. Noaptea abia îşi mai putea ţine ochii deschişi când am luat în palmă cuvintele şi am prins a le scrie peste tine. Erau puţine şi fără înţeles, nu-mi erau de ajuns şi-am început să le repet ca pe-un descântec peste trupul tau. Nu ştiu când m-ai oprit, nici când mi-ai atins inima topind zăpezile, ştiu doar că lumile cele două deveniseră una singură din care tu nu plecasei, în care eu nu venisem, doar ne mutasem unul în celălalt.
Într-un târziu, pe când te făceai nevăzut într-o culoare nemărginit de stinsă, nelegitim mi-am făcut culcuş sub pleoapa ta şi am rămas acolo să îndur speranţa că nu-ţi vei aminti de mine şi nu mă vei alunga niciodată.
Şi nu ţi-ai amintit.

Last spring I was about to go on the road and I decided I wanted to put rivets in my favorite cymbals.(a process that involves puncturing the cymbal and inserting little pieces of metal that sizzle).

A friend told me to check out Steve Maxwells drums shop.  I went in and the regular guy who does the work on drums was out, but the guy behind the counter said he could help me out.  He was in the back a long time.  I became concerned.  The drill bit had broke and stuttered across my cymbal.  These things happen (I tell myself),  and yelling solves nothing, so biting my tongue (filled with emotion) I collect my cymbal and I leave.  They offered me compensation but I didn’t see how that would solve anything.  My cymbal had a couple of punctures.  Thats it, it can’t be fixed.

I went home and thought about it and the next day I called the number on the store website and to my surprise, Steve Maxwell himself picked up the phone.  He knew of my situation as was glad that I called because I walked out (intentionally) without leaving my information.  He mentioned compensation and I mentioned that I had acquired the cymbal through an endorsement deal and while I couldn’t in good conscience take compensation for the damaged cymbal, I would be thrilled if he would help out by donating gear to the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls (www.williemaerockcamp.org) – a summer camp that I have been a volunteer teacher at for the last 5 years.  Steve said “Of course!”

I love a win win situation.  I love drums, Williemae rock camp and Steve Maxwells’ Drum Shop.  Now when I look at the dents in my favorite cymbal I can smile about it.

When I first starting taking ballroom dance lessons, I noticed that a lot of people were dancing off beat. I figured it was just because we were beginners.  Then I danced with people who had been dancing for five to ten years, and they were still dancing off beat.  Being a Greek line dancer as a kid and having a life full of music, it just didn’t make any sense to me.  Everyone was intent on the steps.  Where do I put my feet?  And the music was secondary.  Oops!  What’s dance without the music?

For three years I studied, DiRRiD, Dance in Rhythm Rhythm in Dance.  We drummed and stepped to one rhythm, clapped our hands to another rhythm, and sang non-sense syllables to a third rhythm – staking a polyrhythm.  Now, your brain cannot figure this out. It just can’t, so you must fall into your body and allow the rhythm to move and coordinate you.  What a relief!  No thinking and you are still doing exactly what you want!  But as soon as you try to figure it out, you will fall out of rhythm. 

I know in your generation the mind is the great king, but even science is realizing that the mind is only good up to a point, and then it just gets in the way.  There are things that are beyond thought.  Try to explain in words an ecstatic experience.  You can’t.  Yes, you will exclaim with wows and oh my goodnesses, but you can’t put your feelings into words.  I remember skiing a black diamond run on Aspen Mountain in my twenties.  Every bump, it seemed, was perfectly placed.   The rhythm of the run was synced with the heavens.   I was in the zone, flying high…  You sort of get the picture don’t you?  But to know the union and ecstasy is impossible.   It is beyond words.  Well, truth and freedom are beyond words also.   Divine Love is beyond words.  And, so I would say peace and calm are beyond words, a long with joy.  That’s where you can get when you let the music move you, instead of thinking so much about your next move.  I certainly was not planning how to execute the next bump in my famous ski run.  I didn’t have to, as I was not only skiing the mountain, the mountain was skiing me.  Let the music dance you next time.  See you on the dance floor!
