Massa nya program har startat i höst och en hel del gamla klassiker är kvar såklart. De flesta kretsar kring allt som rör kultur – och givetvis en väldig masa musikprogram med en helt fantastisk bredd i musikgenres.

Finns ju minst sagt ett ganska stort, gött gäng med DJ’s på stationen så det blir en skön blandning från dj-båsen. Lite bokningar med. Hypade Anton Kristiansson kommer uppträda bland andra. Still, after years and years, one of the tunes that remind me that it really should be all about the music. Universal music, respect people. Dig!

Nos llega por fuentes no oficiales al noticia de que el evento tipico que el colectivo de drum&bass zaragozano FOKIN MASSIVE organiza todos los pilares este año no tendra lugar en la calle.

En esta ocasion el colectivo prepara su inicio de temporada en sala  Limbo AvantGarde de la calle La Paz en la que será la única cita prevista hasta la fecha por parte del colectivo y la primera desde la celebración de Mountainbass 09.

Asi que ya sabeis, amantes de los ritmos rotos, teneis una cita para comenzar estos pilares, y esa cita es el viernes 9 de octubre entre las 23:00 y las 6:30 en el nº 29 de la calle La Paz de Zaragoza.

“Homefree” is, technically, the third long player from prolific producer Fanu aka Janne Hatula, Finland’s biggest drum & bass star. The first was “Focused Mind” under his now defunct Fanu Samurai monikor, which was eventually re-packaged as monster double-pack called “Daylightless”, containing both “Focused Mind” and a whole suite of new drum & bass tracks.

“Homefree” is a 13-track, mostly drum & bass affair. The album kicks off with the epic “Amok”, which has received much DJ support over the last 12 months; It’s a very cinematic, edgy, emotional track with a beautiful melody and haunting vocals. Fanu’s take on the do-the-do break is really phenomenal in this track; I’ve never heard it sound quite so punchy. As a bit of a surprise, the track concludes with a heavy amen brothers workout to complete what is probably one of his biggest tracks since the mighty Siren Song.

“And I Find It There” harks back to the Fanu Samurai project with his mid-tempo drums, ethnic instruments and unusual melodies.

“Where It Rains Blood”, which was previously a single on Lightless, is a homage to the latest David Lynch film INLAND EMPIRE. The vocals are used to great affect to build a lot of tension before Fanu takes us through a definitive lesson on how to program drums. It’s a pretty intense, edgy, crazy track and really stands out.

“Burning The Bridge” is another excellent example of Fanu’s ability to effortlessly switch styles and create really cinematic-sounding music. The track has really heavy, pounding drums and a growling double bass, all used to great effect.

“Cry4u” is, I think, one of Fanu’s first vocal tracks, featuring Swervez, and follows Amok’s emotional, melodic tones, but with the addition of some very nice vocals.

“End Of An Era” is an excellent 90s sounding atmospheric Amen Track, which is reminiscent of something Boymerang would have written for the landmark drum & bass album, Balance Of The Force. A nice track that quickly brings back memories of the old GLR days.

All in all, this 15-track album highlights Fanu’s tireless dedication to his craft; A very detailed, moving, and impressive piece of work.

“Homefree” was released in August 2009 on lightless recordings.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr….I think everyone has had one of those moments in their life. SHIT everyday in some cases.

A Grrrr moment. The moment where you just want this fucking Earth to blow up already and get it over with.

But those days…are just small salt grains to what my life is becoming and where it is heading. I am going to keep this blog-out real short today, because I am excited and I want to write continuously positivity positivity positivity positivity positivity positivity positivity positivity positivity positivity positivity positivity. And we must keep our mind and conscious on this same path.

–This is still a demo/sample of me working with my new equipment in my home. I really do like the live/unpolished feel that the track has and I think I will continue to produce my samples as such, but on everything…I hope you enjoy.–

Okay. So, after a month of contacting promoters, local DJs and MCs in the Chicago area to see if I can get on the microphone…has been a EPIC FAIL!

But you know what the funniest thing about this situation is that…I knew this was going to happen all along.

So to the keep the story short. Contacted a few folks in the Chicago area about getting on the microphone, some of the main responses I received were:

‘We are not looking for MCs at this moment’ which is a LIE because you are hosting a event with MCs later in the month.

‘The venue that we have is very small and MCs really don’t work good with the music output’ which is another lie because I have been to your events at the same venue where MCs were on the microphone. Any who, isn’t there a knob on the mixer that can lower the volume of the mic….LIES.

Oh yes and the final issue…just not professional. If I send you a message asking a question can I at least get a email back with a YES or NO and the best part of all…they make assumptions that I sound like shit…hmmm.

The shit is sad and unbelievable that I am in the wonderful city of Chicago and a sister can’t get no play on the microphone. It is so weird because I said to myself if I can get on the microphone with DJ Marky http://www.myspace.com/djmarkyinnerground , there should be no issues with me getting on the mic with a local drum & bass DJ…EPIC FAIL!

So, you know what world. I said ‘Fuck you, you, you, you, and them’ and decided to become my own producer. So, this past weekend I went out and brought the necessary instruments and tools to set up my own home studio.

• Behringer Mixer Xenyx 820
• Multiple recording software from Audacity, Virtual DJ, Cakewalk, DAX…you name it.
• Upgraded my laptop to 350 GB to handle the music that I am laying out.
• $50 Shure microphone for the ultimate vocal experience.
• And myself…and any DJ that would like some sweet vocals on their track.

So, this is what it had to come down to. I tried to reach out to the local DJs/MCs for support and to have a hometown favorite scenario…I guess you can say, but that was not working. HA!

So, I guess I will have to put my skills to the test on youtube and the other various musical outlets for the underground movement, but it is cool. It is cool.  The light always shines  through when you are good

Pentru ca toti simtim nevoia de a ne exprima, la acest workshop, fiecare va avea libertatea de a-si creea propriile personaje si texte, iar cu ajutorul coordonatorilor din Organizatia Reflectart, sa le transforme in sabloane pe care sa le imprime pe tricourile oferite in cadrul workshop-ului.
In a doua zi a festivalului participantii vor putea experimenta tehnici ca ca graffiti-ul sau stencilul.Fiecare isi va putea creea un personaj pe care sa il redea pe suprafata mare, cu conditia sa interactioneze cu personajul de langa el intr-un fel sau altul.

WORKSHOP PICTURA – Feed your head

Workshopul de pictura propune o noua abordare a muzicii si anume transpunerea in imagine a sunteleor pe care le auzim in jurul nostru, printre ele fiind inclusa si muzica.
Pentru a realiza o astfel de lucrare, vom asculta cu atentie cateva sunete carora le vom da culori si si forme, felul in care ele se vor organiza va veni de la sine.
De asemenea pentru realizarea uneri astfel de teme nu sunt necesare cunostiinte despre tehnici picturale sau grafice, se merge pe exprimare pura si distractie.

Workshop de action-painting

Termen englez tradus de regula prin “pictura-actiune”, “pictura-gestuala” sau, mai simplu, “gestualismul”, prin care se defineste o directie a expresionismului abstract, practicat, in special, de artisti americani incepand din deceniul al cincilea (Pollock, De Kooning, Kline, etc.).
Ceea ce conteaza in creatiile gestuale este inregistrarea cu fidelitate a tensiunii spirituale si fizice a autorului in momentul pictarii. Pentru aceasta, Pollock, de pilda, renunta la sevalet, asternand panza pe podea si lasand sa se scurga culorile direct din diferite recipiente sau de pe pensula. Tehnica sa, numita dripping (de la verbul to drip – a picura, a se scurge), este adaptata intentiei de a picta nu ceea ce vede, ci ceea ce simte pictorul, tabloul devenind o inedita “seismograma” a nelinistilor sale, a trairilor.
Noi propunem pentru workshop un experiment asemanator, in care participantul, va picta cu diverse obiecte, inclusiv mainile. Tema principala fiind autoportetul, realizat intr-o maniera gestuala. Pentru realizarea unei astfel de lucrari nu sunt necesare cunostiinte despre tehnici de lucru sau desen.

WORKSHOP SCULPTURA – 50 Faces of Sirnaville

La sculptura vom merge pe tema autoportretului, pentru ca figura umana este cea mai complexa si cea mai expresiva si o data cu realizarea acestei lucrari, noi le putem explica participantiilor bazele modelajului un pic de anatomie, iar ei au ocazia de a experimenta si de a se juca cu lutul.
La sfarsit vom asambla toate portretele intr-o lucrare colectiva urmand sa fie expusa in ulitima zi a festivalului.

I was going to go into detail about the bad and the goods about this event, but I will settle with the good.

That s right to all of the naysayers and assholes out there…I had a chance to perform with DJ Marky THE DJ Marky…and it was awesome!

The energy that this man has on the 1s and 2s is incredible and I can honestly give kudos to him for the way that I performed.

This is a small run down of my night. Of course…nothing is professional when you are going to club to try and perform. Which is something that I need because dancing for two hours straight and then asking me to get on the microphone is NOT going to work.

So, I talked to DJ Midway who was performing at the time. I knew from the jump that I was not going to get on the microphone…because that is how DJs and Promoters are when it comes to Mcng in Chicago.

I can understand that reasoning, but at the same time give a sista a chance. So, I was waiting and waiting and waiting and when DJ Marky got on the 1s and 2s…I said fuck it…I know I am not performing now.

A newbie which no one has heard of…trying to get on the mic with DJ Marky…yeah right. So, about 15 minutes into DJ Markys set…DJ Midway finds me on the dance floor and tells me that Marky is looking for a MC…really?

This is why I LOVE international DJs. They understand what a GOOD MC can do for the crowd and also for their.  I was so ecstatic, excited, and emotional…to the point that I was fucking nervous.  So…after waiting and waiting to get the mic in my hand it was finally here and it was on.

I did what I did best and the crowd enjoyed it. Being on rhythm with the beat and releasing my flow right when the beat drops…was killa for the crowd.

I love it. I loved it even more when the fans the people in the crowd could look up and hear the music and see a BANGIN female MC putting it down. That is what I want out of this. Not the fame nor the money, but for people to see that there is talent out there. That regardless if I am a woman, black, fat…that I can get down with any male or female that can MC.

That is what I want. I want you to get crunk and feel good and have shivers down your spine when my vocals and the beat drop. I want you to feel motivated and inspired once you have seen and heard one of my sets. I want you to feel loved when I am on the microphone. I want to you to feel the wonderful light energy that I release to you. And that is what I received/gave when I performed with DJ Marky. I did not perform as long as I did at my last gig, but at least in those 30 minutes…I showed everyone that I have what it takes and that there is new female MC on the drum & bass scene GGooDei MC that is.

Fokin Massive, así como los amantes del drum and bass y los ritmos rotos, dejamos atrás la que ha sido la mejor temporada de Zaragoza, hasta ahora. La temporada 2008/2009 ha dado de sí grandes citas y nos ha traído una buena representación de la escena junglist internacional y nacional.

Desde djs veteranos del sonido Bristol como Dj Suv, a las “revelaciones” de la escena internacional como Benny Page, pasando por los clásicos del lado oscuro como los holandeses Black Sun Empire, se han dado cita en las fiestas desarrolladas por Fokin Massive en Reset Club, acompañados siempre de la crew local y de una parte de lo mejorcito de la escena nacional. Aunque no era sencillo superar lo realizado en las anteriores temporadas, podemos afirmar que seguimos contruyendo una comunidad enórmemente dinámica y cada vez más numerosa entorno a la cultura break beat…

El cierre de Reset Club, nos obligó a postponer la fiesta de fin de temporada que tradicionalmente pone punto y seguido a nuestra programación. Y como hay mucho que celebrar, e ideas nuevas que anunciar, nos hemos puesto manos a la obra para preparar una fiesta especialmente entretenida. Fokin Massive se da “barra libre” a sí misma con una fiesta freestyle en la que además de drum&bass/jungle -sonido habitual en nuestras citas- podrás escuchar lo mejor de muchos otros estilos: reggae; break beat, rap, electro, rock… En la cabina participará, como merece la ocasión, casi toda la crew de Zaragoza, verdadera responsable de que nuestra ciudad sea hoy un “lugar” en la escena de los ritmos rotos.

El sitio de celebración será el “Arena Rock” de la Plaza Utrillas de Zaragoza, con un aforo adecuado, precios de barra racionales y sonido suficiente para pasar un buen rato. Y la mejor noticia: la entrada a la fiesta de cierre de temporada será gratuíta en todo su horario. Fokin Massive ya ha servido la mesa, ahora ya solo falta que nos sentemos a comer! Larga vida a la cultura break beat!

Las redes espontaneas creadas entre nosotroas se transforman en meros intercambios mercantiles, en aforo y cuestan lo que la entrada a un festival de moda. el sobrevalorado y desangelado tandem de los promotores de fiestas y los hosteleros nos convierten en simples consumidores apropiándose de la magia ancestral de las reuniones humanas al ritmo y disfrute de la música, de la interacción y relación entre las personas . Drum Parade reivindica el derecho a la ciudad,el uso del espacio público para la cultura musical y da la posibilad de elegir nuestro ocio más allá del intercambio lucrativo y de la cultura privatizada. Drum Parade es una propuesta para desarrollar lazos sociales, para el contacto humano y la coincidencia de expectativas comunes, dentro de unos parámetros sociales y culturales con poco espacio en nuestra ciudad.

Después de la cabalgata … Cómo llegar:
Cojer N.V , carretera de Badajoz hasta el km 32, cojer primera rotonda recta, segunda recta y tercera a mano izq… seguir siempre carretera M-600, despues de 3ª rotonda estar atentos a gasolinera a mano izquierda (solo una en este lado, en el otro lado solo campo) , hacer cambio de sentido en 4ª rotonda y entrar en gasolinera para ir por camino de tierra paralelo a la carretera.

Music. The only thing that is near to me. The only thing that I know I can turn on and turn up and let my feelings truly express.

I never knew that music would have a hold on me as it does today. I never as a child dreamed or imagined that this would be my calling. I never attended a music school or took vocal classes. My family is not a parade of famous people and singers that are known across the State.

Just lovers of music. Lovers of joy and meaning.  It amazes me that there is a small portion of our society that does not enjoy music.

Dull lives. I could never be around people that are like this. Nothing compares to being in love with A music. The feelings that over comes your body when a certain tone is noted. A melody is sung. A certain note that is hit. An amazing feeling that can not be wrapped into words.

Music is my life. The one source of enlightenment that can be found on this Earth. I heard that the light workers sing as they destroy the darkness that rules our life…so I shall sing to finally cast out the dark.
