I have from a long time ago given up on EBay’s feedback. It seems the system has gotten increasingly worse over time. Buyers are now using feedback as a way of saying they have a problem rather than the last solution to a problem.

Buyers also believe in the immediate response system so emails sent on public holidays are expected to be answered immediately. How dare you take a day off for Thanksgiving?!

My communication on DSR to 29th October Guild Council.

Some of you will remember that my predecessor, Hannah, tasked me with completing the Guild Council review she was working on last year.  Having spoken with her over the summer and with colleagues as well as many of you it’s become clear that we need a review that looks much deeper at our democratic structures.  So the DSR is looking at liberation associations, the officer group, guild council and the ways in which any committees of council feed into our decision making bodies.  What we need out of all of this are democratic structures that allow students to get involved easily, participate, put forward ideas and see tangible results from their suggestions.

I hope you will agree that we are in desperate need of structures that are flexible, allowing students to float in and out of activity, enabling them to get involved as and when it pleases them.  Some of you will find this meeting hard to follow, as I do quite often.  It’s not our fault though; we are working within a turgid and archaic structure – completely ineffective at dealing with the relevant student needs.  It is time for a change Guild Council.

Since we will be changing the officer group we’re looking to complete this process by January, giving us time to advertise the positions to people who may be interested in running for a position.  That means that the consultation process will kick off within the next two weeks, emails and messages will be going out for you to participate in various focus groups and discussions.  The Officer Team would like the proposals to go to a referendum so that we can have real student consultation.  As the review is looking at so much more than Guild Council I think the most appropriate way to make a decision is a cross-campus referendum.

Other than that I can’t really show you or discuss any specifics of the models at the moment because I don’t want to pre-empt in anyway the consultation process.

I stood up last night to give a communication on the Democratic Structures Review.  I was taken aback when I saw people sitting on the steps of the aisles because there weren’t enough seats for everyone who had arrived.  I’ve never seen that before.  We had nearly 200 people in that room; all engaged in the highest democratic structure of our organisation.  Unfortunately we couldn’t offer our usual hi-tech electronic voting because we had run out of voting pads.  So we had to revert to the old fashioned voting cards.  Yes, only 63 academic Guild Councillors were elected out of a possible 160 (last year there were 70) but I don’t think that detracts from the extraordinary turnout which we received.  In some sense we were a victim of our own success.  We have done well at publicising the meeting, creating a simpler agenda and running a useful induction event into Guild Council.  Turnout is not everything of course, and it was disappointing to see many people leave during the progress of the meeting.  That does prove to me that Guild Council and our democratic structures are in urgent need of reform.  I am determined, more than ever, to deliver a structure which is responsive, flexible and considerate of real student needs and wants.  We have to move away from the turgid procedural motions and the pointless cross-referencing of procedure.  Rules and procedures may be important but it has become really silly.  I’ve not met anyone (please prove me wrong) who is defending the current procedures as they stand and who doesn’t see them as a massive barrier to involvement and accessibility that we genuinely must break down.

Through these years that the Ang Dating Daan program is propagating on air, baseless criticisms and personal attacks from its adversaries have been bombarded to the program on to its popular host. But the program and its host were able to withstand all these attacks and have counter-attacked using the Words of God in the Bible. These have been perennial instances since the program commenced in the 80’s until now.

People from abroad such as the United States of America and countries in South America and Africa have been enlightened by the truth in the Bible – many are still thirsting for the words of God. Now, translations of Bible Expositions and Religious debates have been constantly produced to cater the non-English and non-Filipino speakers of those who want to learn the Christian faith in the Bible aside from the English-subtitled materials.

For 29 years, the Ang Dating Daan has been exposing religious malpractices and beliefs and has been bringing back people to the light, and the Ang Dating Daan shall always continue this noble duty to propagate the truth and destroy the demonic and unbiblical beliefs of many. This is one pledge of the Members of the Church of God International and the messengers that the Lord God himself has placed in the midst of the Church – Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon – humble messengers who always think of others, and not for themselves.

Twenty-nine years of propagation and onwards! Thanks be to GOD, to GOD be the Glory.

Ok to begin with this album has trounced every other Indian album in terms of recording..
Actually, coming from DSR this isn’t surprising considering the experience.. And ofcourse the man himself ‘The Demonstealer’ in this band also (smiles), loves challenges coz its not all the time tht the frontman of an extreme metal band does vocals for a band tht sounds like Workshop..

hmmm.. the album ‘Khooni Murga’ (Murderous Cock tht is..) is packed with 10 tracks which define the gamut to which talented musicians can go when they come together.. tht is Workshop for you providing brutality n humor at the same time..

Musically the album is rich with guitar solos by Raj, insane drumming by Hamza, ‘jumping’ bass by Riju n ‘cute’ vocals by The Demonstealer…. He is such an adroit person tht u connect to watever he makes, whether its music or Demonic Omelet..

The album begins with ‘She Folked Up My Jazz’ n its a perfect song right frm whr it starts to the end, complete with every musical element tht u wanna hear.. Song-wise its a hit, coz the melody tht it carries is addictive, to an extent tht i end up humming along all the time.

Next song on this naughty album is ‘Pudhe Sarka’.. its abt a guy who is one of us travelling in a BEST bus n how he ends up hearing ‘pudhe sarka’ n ‘maage sarka’ frm the dictator on the bus – the conductor. Don’t knw abt others but i do not knw marathi at all, bt i sure do knw little bit of wat is part of this well-constructed song. N tht is all thnx to my experiences in BEST.

So lets ‘Pudhe Sarka’ with the review now..

Also tracks 3 and 4 r interchanged on the album (but thts a gimmick i suppose ). You are expecting the track ‘Chhati Ke Saath Panga’ to begin n bang comes the soothing intro of ‘I Came’… neways moving on ‘I Came’ is a track which u r bound to hear more than once, coz it vulpinely explains the subtle art of masturbation n how nimble you are when you are indulging in the same.

next up is a song abt a horny Patel lusting for a chick whilst his favourite festival is on – Garba n hence the name Garba Gandu. Coz he sure is a Gandu.. this song has everything in place n u expect some gujju beats n yes it follows. Hamza sure is talented coz he goes on to try everything.

‘How to make a Demonic Omelet’ is probably the weakest track of the album for me, followed by ‘Chhati Ke Saath Panga’ which is a somniferous track.. bt thts just wat i think…

next up is ‘Bunty aur Malika Sherwath’.. the track which got 15000 hits on youtube n still counting.. i went abt understanding exactly y ppl liked the track so much, n i feel its not only bcoz is controversial (read bunty, babli, malika n saif) but also coz its the first Indian track tht talks abt sandas n bable… yay! we Indians get turned on, u-knw-how..! The high point of this track is the drumming with Hamza playing triplets.. It just instantly catches ur attention.. overall u will like the track.. If not then atleast the lyrics.. fvck-off i knw u will..

‘Cookie Monster’ is the next track n The Demonstealer himself claims tht this track is not metal *recalls him saying tht during the launch gig *.. i like the track.. its NICE… bt it took time for me to figure out the riff tht got nominated for some ‘Best Riff’ award.. There are other songs by the band with better ‘riffs’…

The title track is the last one on this album n hence this short n hilarious album comes to an end.. I do want more of Workshop..

Also i’d like to mention Sahil’s killer effort to bring in tht multiple vocals effect.. seriously brilliant.. its most notable in ’she folked up my jazz’ and ‘i came’.. it beautifies the song majorly…

About the dvd tht comes along, haven’t checked it yet bt am sure it’ll be killer… though i heard the video for bable song is not present..

Next obvious thing to mention is the detailed album artwork tht explains the concept n the band thru sketches. Every song has its own customised work n its not loud.. Its just thr n fits perfectly…

the cd is accompanied with a poster n sticker which is something new.. so yeah y not!

All in all this album is worth a buy coz its nefarious, bawdy n brutal too…..

Don Schumacher Racing has acquired the racing assets of the Antron Brown-driven Matco Tools Top Fuel team from Mike Ashley Racing. Team owner Don Schumacher made the announcement today. The sale is effective immediately and continues the long-standing relationship between Matco Tools and Don Schumacher Racing.

The Matco Tools team will remain intact with Brown piloting the bright blue Matco-backed rail tuned by Brian Corradi and Mark Oswald. The team will next compete at the ninth annual Las Vegas NHRA Nationals, Oct. 29-Nov. 1, at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Matco Tools, involved as a major sponsor in NHRA drag racing since 1995 and a longtime sponsor of DSR, will continue as primary sponsor on the team. The Matco Tools Iron Eagle Club hospitality also will remain unchanged for the remainder of the 2009 NHRA season.

It seems that eBay as grown to the point where it needs stupidity to stay in the news.  Feedback is the newest ‘Death to eBay’ that I have seen.  There has long been a problem with the eBay feedback process mainly because nothing of its type exists.  Being pioneer does not necessary mean being unfair to either parties.

I’ve recently attended an entrepeneurs group session and the most common complaint with eBay selling was feedback including the DSR (Detailed Seller Rating System) system.  I have to sympathize with both buyers and sellers.  Here are a few stories I heard:

1.  Stock miscounted result in an item sold that was not actually in stock (THIS HAPPENS IN THE REAL WORLD EVERYDAY – it is usually called shrinkage.  On eBay it is called NEGATIVE FEEDBACK).  Customer was repaid on fixed item listing within 1 hour of receipt of payment.  Customer threatened if they did not receive the part they will leave poor feedback.  Seller does not have the part and can only REFUND, which was already done.  Customer retaliated by leaving NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, 1 on PART AS DESCRIBED, 1 on COMMUNICATION, 1 on SHIPPING & HANDLING CHARGES, 1 on SHIPPING TIME.  The Seller has no recourse as eBay will not remove the rating, and there are only 80 characters to explain the error.

2.  Store had mandatory audit, hence no shipping.  Seller contacted vendor, upgraded the part from used to NEW to get it out (paying extra from their pocket), however the vendor only use UPS shipping , hence shipped by ground and with holiday shipping was delayed.  Customer on eBay did not comment that they received a NEW part that retails for $180 instead of a used part they bought for $50.00.  Instead, they left NEGATIVE feedback for seller because they received the part, though shipped within 24 hours, 2 days later than they thought USPS would have delivered.  Not only that seller once contacted offered to give FULL REFUND on refusal of part.  Greedy buyer seeing the part was BRAND NEW accepted but had to STICK IT to the seller anyway.

3.  Volume sellers with poor customer service benefits from feedback as 1 in 1000 does not hurt as much as 1 in 10.

After listening to horror stories like this, I decided feedback is NOT worth the keyboard it is typed from.

If eBay wanted a fair customer feedback system, it is much simpler than that:

1.  All payments are via Paypal.  Buyer gets goo rating on the speed of payment.

2.  Tracking numbers can be posted on eBay and Paypal, eBay can verify what is  ‘normal shipping’.  I thin 10 days from FL to WA over a holiday weekend is acceptable 7 if not holiday.  This is using either FEDEX or UPS.  That is the REAL world.

3.  Shipping charges are KNOWN up front, no sense bitching over something you agreed to pay.  There are options, and if not DO WITHOUT!

4.  Communication, how can you measure that.  A lot of eBayers have regular jobs or other jobs so I think a question answered within a day is perfect.

These are simple radio button questions that can give an accurate DSR and accurate feedback.  Plus by removing the sellers option to really speak the truth about some buyers, the cheats get the advantage.  I look at number 2, this guy now has a brand new part over a used crappy part but seller does not get kudos for upgrade but get sunk for 2-days later.

I went last weekend to help out a friend, Sherman Chao, and his wife Vivian, with their Stohr DSR, for a practice day Friday, SCCA regional race on Saturday and Sunday. It was a rainy/sunny day of Fri and Sat., but Sunday was a nice, clear day. Helped Sherman overcome some electrical problems in his car, and all went well in the race – he got a great start from P2, and lead DSR the entire race, ending with a handy margin of victory.

It was also fun to see some friends from my many years of racing a Mini Cooper in GT5, SCCA. Bob Spreen was there with his FP MG Midget that he raced with me, and Dave Dartt with his basically vintage Mini Cooper on 10″ wheels, running for fun in GTL.

Dave will be running next at Watkins Glen, for the historical re-enactment of the original race, Sept 12-13th.

At the moment I’m in the process of setting up a joint venture with my parents. It will basically be an e-commerce solution marketed to a dedicated market sector. Yesterday I decided to get to grips with Distance Selling Regulations after reading a lot about the on various business forums. It seems people are having a lot of trouble complying with them or even understanding them.

It would seem for most e-commerce websites that it isn’t anything that mindblowing. The regulations basically give some protection to both the supplier (retailer) and the consumer (customer); however they are bias towards the customer.

Vor ein paar Wochen habe ich mir ein neues Handy (G1) geholt. Ich bin wirklich sehr begeistert, aber die Fotos sind nicht so toll, besonders weil ein Blitz fehlt. Also muss eine Digitalkamera her. Mein erster Gedanke war, dass eine kleine für ein paar Euro reichen muss. Nach einigen Überlegungen bin ich nun aber doch so weit, dass ich mir eine „gute“ Kamera holen will.

Was für eine Kamera muss/soll es sein?

Als ersten Schritt habe ich mir gestern ein Buch gekauft: „Die große Fotoschule digitale Fotografie“ von Christian Haasz.
Ins Auge gefallen ist es mir beim Durchblättern des Bertelsmann Club Katalogs. Gestern hab ich es mir in der Filiale genauer angesehen und auf den ersten Blick für wahrscheinlich hilfreich befunden. Auch viele PC-Zeitschriften haben es empfohlen, z.B. PC-Info, Pc-Pr@xis und PC-Welt.

Das Buch „Fotoschule digitale Fotographie“

Als erstes habe ich gelernt, welche Arten von Kameras es gibt.
Es gibt wohl drei grundsätzlich unterschiedliche Systeme:

• Kompaktkamera

• Spiegelreflex (SLR- Single Lens Reflex)

• Bridgekamera

Die Kompaktkamera:

+ klein und handlich

+ günstig

+ einfache Handhabung

+ meistens Videoaufnahmen möglich

- nicht viele Einstellungsmöglichkeiten

- fest eingebautes Objektiv

Das in der Kamera fest eingebaute Objektiv hat eine bestimmte Lichtstärke und (Zoom-)Brennweite. Für Standardsituationen ist das in Ordnung. Wenn man aber mal eine andere Brennweite braucht und z.B. Tiere in einiger Entfernung (Telebrennweite) oder weitläufige Landschaften (Weitwinkel) aufnehmen möchte, stößt man schnell an die Grenzen des Möglichen.

In Bezug auf die Bildgestaltung ist die Größe des Sensors leider ein echtes Ärgernis. Stellen Sie sich ein schönes Kopf-Brust-Porträt in der Nachmittagssonne vor. Ein professionelles Porträt zeichnet sich meistens dadurch aus, dass der Hintergrund in völliger Unschärfe verschwimmt. Das lenkt den Betrachter auf den scharfen Bildbereich, eben den Kopf. Man spricht hier von geringer Schärfentiefe, es ist also nur eine kleine Distanz scharf, der Rest ist unscharf. Da die Schärfentiefe vom Abbildungsmaßstab abhängt und dieser wiederum von der Sensorgröße, ist die Schärfentiefe bei sehr kleinen Sensoren sehr weit ausgedehnt – bei Landschaften und Familienschnappschüssen sehr gut, bei Porträts von Menschen oder Tieren eher hinderlich.

Wichtig hier zu erwähnen, dass die Auflösung nicht unbedingt ein Qualitätsmerkmal darstellen muss. Zwar kann man mit höheren Anzahl an Bildpunkten theoretisch mehr Details aufnehmen, die technischen Schwierigkeiten bei der Umsetzung sind jedoch enorm. Denn je mehr einzelne Bilderfassungselemente (Pixel) auf einen sowieso schon winzigen Sensor untergebracht werden, desto weniger Licht fällt auf jeden Bildpunkt ab. Die Folge dieser schieren Masse an Pixeln: Die Spannung die ein Bildpunkt erzeugt, muss künstlich verstärkt werden, was zu massiven Bildrauschen führen kann.

Was will ich mit der Kamera machen?

• Ich will ausdrucksstarke Bilder machen, von Mensch, Tier und Natur.

• Ich will lernen, wie ich faszinierende Augenblicke so gut wie es nur geht einzufangen

• jedoch will ich auch Schnappschüsse machen können.

Nach dem ersten Kapitel im Buch habe ich unheimlich viel gelernt, und ich denke, dass ich mir eine schnelle Spiegelreflexkamera kaufen werde. Welche ist mir noch nicht klar. Das werde ich in den nächsten Tagen und Wochen recherchieren und hier immer mitteilen.

Về tổng thể, ML-class mới ấn tượng hơn, đặc biệt với những người trẻ. Tuy nhiên, việc khách hàng “già” có thích nó hay không thì không thể đoán trước. Mercedes sử dụng bộ gương chiếu hậu lấy từ C-class. Baga mui là trang bị tiêu chuẩn.

Giống như “đàn em” GLK300, Mercedes Việt Nam tiếp tục nhấn mạnh vào yếu tố dẫn động 4 bánh 4Matic. Phiên bản phân phối tại Việt Nam là ML350 4Matic, sử dụng động cơ V6 3.5L công suất 271 mã lực. Hộp số tự động 7 cấp 7G-Tronic. Nhờ đó, ML350 4Matic mất 8,4 giây để tăng tốc lên 100 km/h từ vị trí xuất phát.

Nhắm tới yếu tố địa hình, Mercedes trang bị chương trình tích hợp các gói công nghệ theo cách tối ưu. Các hệ thống như chống bó cứng phanh ABS, cân bằng điện tử ESP, điều khiển lực kéo 4 bánh 4ETS không hoạt động độc lập mà có sự phân công, phối hợp để giữ xe ở trạng thái an toàn nhất.

Ngoài ra, hai hệ thống phổ biến khác trên ML-class là hỗ trợ xuống dốc (DSR) và hỗ trợ khởi hành khi leo dốc (HSA). DSR sẽ tự giới hạn tốc độ giúp xe xuống dốc an toàn. Nó bao gồm cả việc áp lực phanh tự động, nếu góc nghiêng càng lớn thì lực phanh sẽ càng mạnh. Tài xế có thể tăng tốc vượt tốc độ đã cài đặt bằng cách đạp chân ga hay chủ động đạp chân phanh theo ý muốn để hãm.

Khi lên dốc, DSR sẽ không được kích hoạt. Thay vào đó HSA sẽ can thiệp nếu tài xế dừng ngay lưng chừng dốc, bằng cách tự động áp lực phanh cần thiết để xe dừng lại trong khi người lái chuyển từ chân phanh sang chân ga để khởi hành tiếp. Công nghệ này đặc biệt hữu ích với những người mới lái.

Nội thất ML350 4Matic không có nhiều thay đổi về thiết kế. Nét mới đến từ những thiết bị giải trí. Phiên bản mới trang bị công nghệ thao tác rảnh tay dựa trên giao tiếp bluetooth, và một cổng kết nối phổ thông Aux-in tương thích với nhiều loại thiết bị cầm tay như iPod.

Hàng ghế sau lắp bộ giải trí RSE với 2 màn hình 7 inch, một đầu DVD, 2 bộ tai nghe không dây và một điều khiển từ xa. Hai màn hình LCD có thể hoạt động riêng biệt, cho phép vừa xem phim DVD, vừa chơi game cùng một lúc.

Khách hàng có thể đặt hàng từ hôm nay tại các đại lý ủy quyền Mercedes-Benz trên cả nước. Có 3 màu sơn lựa chọn là Đen Obsidian, Bạc Cubanite và Bạc Irridium. Nếu muốn màu sơn đặc biệt, khách hàng có thể yêu cầu riêng.

Mức giá cho ML350 4Matic 2009 là 2,37 tỷ đồng (khoảng 131.889 USD), bao gồm thuế nhập khẩu 83%, thuế TTĐB 50% và 5% thuế GTGT.

Man time flies by. Everytime I think I’m staying on top of this blog I find myself fallin behind. It’s already been a week and I’m sitting here contemplating why I’m in such a crabby mood today. I think I haven’t had enough good sleep
lately thanks to two small
munchkins…they’re so sweet when they
want to be. So last week was fairly
productive. I always try to make the
most out of my time in the ville. My manager has started his own mgt company and is now working with Broken Bow Records. We are showcasing for them and other labels on the 30th in Nashville and it’s hard after 13 yrs of trying to impress Nashville label execs to have any faith in them. But maybe this time it’ll be different. We’ll see..at least yall can watch it no matter where you are. DSR Showcase Live Web broadcast
I ran into Randy Owen last week in town and what a pleasant surprise that was. He has been such an inspiration to me in so many ways. His wife just had surgery on her shoulder and is in pain during her recovery so yall please pray for a speedy one..
Well, some of you know that I’ve been writing a lot lately and in the last year I started writing with Dan Tyler, my mentor. Well he called me three weeks ago because he had a great idea for a song, what started as the Underwear song and now has become the title “Let’s Get Down”. I think this is the most original song I’ve ever written and so far all the folks that hear it have shown me that they love it too. We’ll be doing it at te showcase so if you haven’t heard it you’ll get your chance then. We played Monroe Friday night and I’ve never been in a place that stays empty until midnight then packs out for two hours. It was a little nerve racking, especially when the Molly Ringwalds were playing right down the road. It’s hard to compete with a dress up Duran Duran cover band. What real talent that takes…..it was fun though and Libby finally got to join us for a show. Oh and Melissa came down with us for the weekend too. That was a treat. Saturday nite was the first time I’d ever played Phil Bradys in Baton Rouge, which is surprising because I’ve played almost every place in BR. It was a good time and I think the entire crowd consisted of either family or someone I went to high school or college with.
So I’m spending this week in BR getting things accomplished here while Libby does her work. On my way to play golf, so I’ll catch yall later.. Please feel free to comment or ask me at questions you my have…peace out…DSR

Well two weeks have gone by and I’m already slacking at this blogging thing.  If I only had more time to write down all the things in my head, I could actually give you something interesting to read.  These last two weeks have been pretty hectic hosting my mom here at the house and then straight into CMA festival week.  Not to mention I put a band together for a showcase that didn’t happen.  That’s a story in itself.  I started that week bowling for St. Jude and realized how much I missed being in front of those fans, the ones who really make an effort to be a part of country music.  If only ya’ll could have seen what I did on Thursday, it was hilarious.  I must have told 20 people about the Nashville Navy party being at 3^rd & Lindsley.  Well, when I showed up at 5 pm, there wasn’t a soul around but a band setting up for the night.  I knew I screwed that pooch… A quick text to Jamie Foxx and I realized I was a dumb…  That night, I sang “The Underwear Song” and the reaction was priceless.  Not to mention it was good to see all my cruising friends there like Ruth & my boy from Seattle Tony Bridges.  The Fan Club party was awesome, but hot as hell in the patio of Loser’s.  I think we had like 35 peeps there.  Not bad for a last minute situation…Bailey was jamming along the entire time I sang at the party.  She held that mic like she owned it.  She does call it her mic.  She’s pretty amazing.  I think that place is almost becoming a 2nd home for me.  I played both Friday and Saturday night at Loser’s and both nights were packed.  Nothing like Tony Phillips standing on a chair strumming his guitar like a goober…j/k…those guys over there are the shizzznett for hookin me up the way they do.  So, I met with my manager yesterday and we’re having a showcase on the 30^th of June for the record labels here in Nashville.  I’m hesitant to put any faith in getting a deal simply for the fact that I’ve been trying for 13 yrs to get Nashville labels to believe in me.  I may end up having to do it myself.  Raising the money and putting it out there is not that easy though, it’s a real hard road to break in, so I sure would rather not do it that way.  We’ll see…  At least I will know whether or not I will be doing it myself or not.  I was walking into the office this morning and ran into Randy Owen.  After a quick hello and a hug, he “rolled on”…haha…he was meeting with Clay Walker about something.  I don’t think I mentioned, but I was asked to create a jingle for a steakhouse out of Kearney, NE and I submitted my idea yesterday to the president and I’m patiently waiting to hear a response from them whether they like it or not.  I’m kinda nervous because I’ve never done that before.  But I really like what I came up with, so we’ll see.  We’ll, I’m off to Monroe this Friday then to play at Phil Brady’s Blues Bar in Baton Rouge on Saturday.  It should be a slammin crowd thanks to the friends and family comin out.  The next week we’ll spend in BR doing various things with the family.  I have a show on Tuesday night at Southpaw’s in Prairieville.  That’s a real quaint place.  And Ron Jon is the bombdiggity…That starts at 8pm.  Then Thursday through Saturday I’m performing at Imperial Palace Casino…Ya’ll come out now, you hear….Peace out,
