Around here these are worn about year round. The guys wear them in the summer to keep sweat from dripping down their face while working, or playing. I wear them when working in the garden, or at the river. And in the winter the guys wear them while working out side, to help keep their heads warm under caps. Tie back bandana’s have lots of uses, hair loss, bad hair day, sweating, warmth, under hats/caps. I have heard these called Du Rags, Do Rags, Tie Backs, bandana wraps. I’m sure there are lots of other names for these.

Because I am as hard on myself as I am on my fellow african americans. I put myself to college I mopped fucking floors, i couldnt afford text books, I didnt complain. My parents and I had nothing to eat for days and we never went on welfare or got food stamps. I have no respect for someone that drops out of school and tries to hustle rap or take a short cut to make money, blood sweat and tears. If anyone knows hard work its blakc people i mean look at the history books. the american republic was built on the shattered lives of the indians – ive never seen one, and yup you guessed it…..we did more for this country and atlanta than make freaknik popular

I dont  wear a du rag to church, I dont wear one to work, i dont care if  it makes my haair wavey or not. Nothing says I am a manly man more than being unemployed living at my mommas house and wearing my pants below my ass showing the world my dirty faded underwear. I dont wear sandal with tube socks as part of my uniform, I own tims buti wear them when It rains or snows , i do not to play basketball, or go on interviews to McDonalds with a fitted- Im not knocking mcDonalds who doesnt love the mcGriddles, but have some class try to run a comb through your hair for an interview

I dont think when two or three are gathered in the name if hip hop or raegetton or whatever its a movement. Civil rights was a movement.Hip hop isnt a movement.  Meth and red never gave me a turkey when I was hungry, Mike Tyson donated a turkey i was the proud recipient of, I was so hungrythat day i wouldnt have cared if he  decked robin givens each time i took a bite of some food. Bandanas are piece of cloth that are either cut to be a square or a triangle, then folded to wear on the body. They come in many colors, mainly one bright color like red, blue, green, yellow, black combined with white. The cloth is tied around the neck or head. Modern uses include more decorative purposes, while historical uses were actually more for protection than fashion. The word Bandana comes from a Hindi term, meaning to tie.

As I mentioned last week, I’m having a completely different take on St. Patty’s Day this year. I plan to rock my green, pinch the rebels that aren’t rocking green, drink some green brew, and party. Ironically enough, I was standing in line at Foot Locker over the weekend and overheard a conversation about bandanas and du rags. The questions ranged from who wears them, when to wear them, and why wear them. Seeing as how I’m a guru in the industry, I thought it appropriate to dispel the myth to anyone else out there that might be wondering.

A Du Rag in short is a form-fitting version of the bandana. The du rag fits very closely to the head and has a tie on the back for a nice tight fit. Du rags come in nylon, cloth, or stocking material and can be either solid or patterned. Both of these types of headwear are interchangeable. Most often bandanas are worn under helmets or other protective hats for comfort and protection. Bandanas are also used by bikers to wipe off the seats of the bike, with the dipstick when checking oil, clean the mirror, polish the chrome.. you get the point! Bandanas are extremely versatile.
