Demi Lovato and friend Chloe Bridges were able to meet All Time Low’s singer, Alex Gaskarth.

Demi just completed a duet with fellow rocker band, We The Kings, and is rumored to have been in the studio with All Time Low working on new music as well. Let’s hope the rumor is true!

Who: Lami Phillips, soul singer hogging your TV screens with the videos for ‘Nuttin Do You’, and ‘You Know’, a duet with M.I.; both taken off her debut album ‘Intuition’.

Sounds Like: A neo-soul mash-up of Sade Adu, Floetry, and Jill Scott, with a little more naija jump. “ I’m very Barbara Streisnad meets India Arie, my friends say I’m too deep, but I can’t help it, I’m not going out of my way to be deep its just how God made me and neo-soul always keys into the inner core of things.”

First Shots: Lami released her debut album ‘Intuition’, which was, for most parts, an insular burp, in but her new videos have shined the spotlights on the LP, showing it as the work of art it actually is. ‘Intuition’ boasts six tracks that flit between neo, soul, hip-hop and R and B, to create a very listenable album, shame on you if you haven’t listened to it.

She Gets Around: Her debut album testifies to her genre-jumping tendencies; ‘Intuition’ is a pot-pourri of sounds: a mish-mash of R and B, Pop, Soul, Neo, Naija, and a dash of hip-hop; a veritable heady mix. This is a result of her many influences.  “My musical influences are global, I don’t listen to a certain type or genre or artiste, from Jay Z to MusiqSoulchild to Tracy Chapman; so when I’m writing all those sounds and influences are fused together and it comes out however it does”

No More No Vernacular: When I was recording, I had a lot of pressure to do with language; some people said ‘if the song doesn’t have pidgin in it, it wont sell, if its not done in vernacular, it wont sell; but I just made feel-good music and left it at that, letting the situation dictate the feel of the songs.  so there are some  songs with no Nigerian influence, but I’m Nigerian and I’m proud to be one.

Come As You Are: By her own admission, she doesn’t have any laid out formula for deciding what to write, record or put out. A lot of the time, she works by ear, and likes to wing it, letting the creative juices flow as they may. “My music doesn’t have any calculation or formula to what I’m doing, I do, or more appropriately, I sing what I feel. Like the song ‘Know’, off the first album, MI asked me what I would say in Yoruba to my husband or lover and I said, “erm…my mum always says olowo ori m”i and that’s how that part of the song  came about, but I won’t have sat done there thinking or calculating what to put in, it has to flow at its own pace.”

Greatest Album Never Heard (yet): Lami plans to release a live album sometime in the future, which according to her will best showcase her talents; she plans to release the live effort because, as we know, its one thing to release, its another thing entirely for the market to receive it. “I actually wanted to do my whole album live but it occurred to me that in Nigeria, one might need a whole year to put it together. It is possible to do the live album, but too many things have to come into play for that to work, like the musicians I worked with before, they  don’t live here in Nigeria, so when its live, you need people who can read your mind, musically, and know where you’re going. I was trained to perform live but the people I trained with are all outside the country, so when I do my live album, I’ll have to do it outside the country, or I have to bring them here ‘cos they read my mind and u need that to kick it off.”

Lami’s debut album, ‘Intuition’ , is in stores now.

Well, I’ve had my share of technical challenges and someone told me Mercury is in retrograde. I believe it. I’ve had to reconfigure all my recording and editing options. So I missed posting my dance yesterday, but we did do it. I say we, because Marky and Tori joined me at the studio yesterday. They also joined me today so I’m posting a dance we did today that resembles yesterday’s dance.

We were able to get some good video of connection teachings which I’ll post here somewhere too…

When two vocal powerhouses come together, it can either be too much or wayy perfect; and in this case it came out as perfect as can be.

Brown Eyed Girls leader JeA and Big Mama’s Lee Young Hyun wanted to collab with each other for a long time and finally got a chance to as they team up for a duet. The ballad track had fans waiting in anticipation and is already listed for an OST that is set for 2010. The duo make some harmonious music while ironically the movie itself has got some musical traits of its own.

The full version hasn’t come out yet so don’t hurt me yet, but check back when the official version of the song is released! Meantime let’s listen to some soulful audio.

Omigosh, I’m sooo excited. This is my very first (completed) duet!!! With the almighty sweet voice of milkT86-san a.k.a Mikuru-chan!!!<-she’d kill me if i really did that XD. so i’ll just use this one->

I was shocked when she said she wanted to do this song with me, and then I was uber-shocked when I hear the results! It sounds so good! Two thumbs up (I wish I had more, really) for Mikuru-chan’s mixing skillz!

The recording was not taking too much time, since I already got most of it. But the harmonies are a whole different story. I had to listen to several versions of the song, Tourai’s for some parts, and finally Gomu’s for the ultimate harmonies!

And the final product is like…. just listen to it people…

‘The Winner Takes It All‘ is a song recorded by Swedish pop group ABBA, and released as the first single from the group’s Super Trouper album on July 21, 1980.

Pop princesses Kylie Minogue and Dannii Minogue have recorded a cover version of the song to be used on a soundtrack to a British TV show ‘Beautiful People‘.

That was epic, two Minogues for the price of one.

Secret’s Song Ji Eun began her solo activities with a performance with Fly to the Sky’s Hwanhee on KBS 2TV Music Bank.

The track, which was released on the 15th, experienced an explosive reaction from the public as it ranked #1 on realtime charts of online portal sites and was one of the most searched keywords.

Perhaps it’s because the R&B singer wrote the lyrics to the song himself, but both he and the member of Secret radiated an emotional intensity that was appropriate for the sad ballad song. Additionally, the harmony of Hwanhee’s deep, powerful pipes and Song Ji Eun’s soft, angelic vocals made for a performance that was enjoyable to listen to.

Based on her performance tonight, I think it’s safe to say that her vocal abilities are no longer a secret. Stay tuned for more performances from her (and Hwanhee) on MBC Music Core and SBS Inkigayo this weekend.

‘X Factor’ winner Joe McElderry would like to do a duet with his mentor on the talent show Cheryl Cole, he said today.

The 18-year-old was speaking as he returned to his hometown in the north east of England for the first time since winning the ITV show.

“It would be good to do a duet with Cheryl. If she’s up for it, let’s do it,” he told reporters.

“Yes, she’s been texting all week, asking how it’s going and saying if you’re stuck on anything, she’s just been really supportive.

“She’s just been asking how I am and we’ve been talking about the final.”

The teenager, who until four months ago lived in a upstairs Tyneside flat in South Shields and studied performing arts at Newcastle College, also said it would be a dream to perform with US singer Beyonce.

Joe had returned to his roots for a CD single signing session at the HMV store in South Shields.

Thousands of people had queued – some overnight – for the chance to be one of a lucky 500 given the opportunity to meet the pop star.

Speaking ahead of meeting his fans, Joe spoke of how the last few days have been a complete whirlwind.

“It feels very, very surreal and I am still having to pinch myself after what’s gone on this last couple of days and I am on cloud nine,” he said.

“It’s been pretty mental. There were loads of people at the airport and loads of people at the back of the shop, so it’s pretty crazy.”

The teenager shrugged off the public battle between his single, ‘The Climb’, and Rage Against The Machine’s re-release of their 1992 hit ‘Killing In The Name’ for the Christmas No 1.

“Well I just think it is the same as any other number one battle for Christmas No 1 with two artists going against each other,” he said.

“It’s nothing new. It’s been a bit more well documented than others. I can only promote the single and I can’t do anything else.

“I am working hard and I just hope people buy the single and I wish them good luck as well.

“I am just happy to get a single out but to get No 1 would be incredible.”

Current figures show the song has sold 175,000 copies, compared with 110,000 for Joe’s single.

Since Joe won the show he has been front page news for many newspapers but he confessed today that he handles the media attention by just ignoring it.

“Don’t read them basically,” he said.

“Just kind of switch off from it because once I start reading it I think I’ll just freak out a bit at it, so I think ’all these people writing about us’, so I am just not paying any attention to it.”

So far the weirdest thing has been appearing on GMTV – a show the teenager has watched for years.

“I think just being on GMTV performing my single and then getting interviewed by people who I’ve watched interview massive celebrities all the time,” he said.

“Here I am sitting on the sofa. It’s really, really weird.

“I wouldn’t say I am a pop star yet as I have a lot of work to do. It feels weird to have a single out because I can’t believe that’s my single.

Joe refused to rule out a career in Hollywood but said he was keeping the Geordie accent.

“I don’t actually know where this has come from,” he said.

“But if it is true, I wouldn’t mind a Hollywood career. I am not ditching the accent.

“They would have to take it or leave it.”

And as for the future, the 18-year-old is prepared to just go with the flow.

“Who knows, I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. I am just going to have to work hard, kept going and see what happens,” he said.

The teenager also praised the people of South Shields for their support as he took part in the show.

“I just cannot thank the people enough who supported us,” he said.

“And I am really happy to come back to my hometown first to do a signing.

“South Shields is always going to be home.

“What I am missing the most is South Shields beach. There’s no beach in London and I am missing the beach.

“It’s just nice to go for a walk along the beach.”

In South Shields town centre thousands were queuing outside HMV in the hope of catching a glimpse of the ‘X Factor’ winner.

One of the lucky 500 to be allowed into the music store to get a signed Joe McElderry single was 18-year-old Chelsea Allan, from South Shields.

She said: “It was absolutely amazing. I said to him ’Joe I love you’ and he just said ’thank you’.

“It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet him.”

Her friend Kimberley Scott, 16, from South Shields, added: “I just cannot believe I spoke to him. I’ll never forget this day.”

Paige Flaherty, 15, also from South Shields, was with a group of her friends and they all met the pop star and got singles signed.

“It was amazing. I was so excited I didn’t know what to say to him,” she said.

“I said congratulations for winning the show and Joe said ’thanks for coming’.”

Demi Lovato is one talented young lady. With a hit television show (our fave comedy, Sonny With A Chance) and a successful movie franchise (with the JoBros. nonetheless!) acting could just be her main gig, but then this super talented lady belts out a wicked tune.

As the best singer of the Disney bunch, there’s certainly not a shortage of great songs with her voice attached, but one of our most favorites is a new duet she recorded with emo rockers We the Kings. Emotions will be running high in this weekend’s final two X Factor shows and bookmakers believe it will all get too much for Joe McElderry’s mentor Cheryl Cole.

The Girls Aloud star has displayed genuine pride in her fellow Geordie throughout this year’s contest and it would be far from a surprise to see her turn on the waterworks in the closing stages.

Cheryl has been backed into 2/1 with Sky Bet to be seen crying live on Saturday’s episode and the singer is just 5/4 to shed a tear or two during Sunday’s decider.

The same firm are also offering 8/1 that mother hen Cheryl and her protege Joe release a duet together next year!

It has been reported that Katie Price and Peter Andre will attend one of this weekend’s shows and Paddy Power go 6/1 they are seated directly together and 8/1 they are removed from the set for fighting.

Punters can also bet on Simon Cowell’s shirt attire on Saturday night and he is 4/9 to be wearing a tie, 10/1 to have one button undone, 5/1 for two, 4/1 for three, 8/1 four or more and it is 6/1 he will wear a t-shirt.
